nd what I was looking for, my dress was ordered in a size way too big, causing many alterations that could have been prevented had they ordered me my true size. Additionally, staff failed to inform me that the topper of my dress, what made me fall in love with the look, was backordered and the manufacturer did not have the materials to make it. I only found this out after numerous emails, calls, and follow ups. The truth had not come out until 6 months after ordering, too late to have gone in another direction. I was given arbitrary dates when it should come in by, which kept passing. It was like pulling teeth trying to get in touch with someone to address the issue, let alone someone who could provide any meaningful help. While I understand that manufacturing issues happen, the lack of communication, transparency, and accountability in this situation was extremely frustrating. Instead of an apology, upon picking up the garment, I was given another bill, after everything had already been paid in full. I am not recommending this store based on the experience I had to anyone.

My dress also came out so nicely from alterations â my seamstress made sure it was perfect for me, and I felt so comfortable and confident in it. to look on my wedding day for I had been imagining it since I was a little girl. However, I was worried that what I wanted was too specific and that I might have to settle for something I liked but wasn't my dream dress. After stepping into the Plumed Serpent and meeting Alison though, all of my worries went away. Once I showed her photos of the look I was going for, she quickly grabbed four dresses for me to choose from. Her expertise helped me to not feel overwhelmed, and her enthusiasm helped me feel confident that I would be walking out of there with my dream dress. And sure enough, that was true! Just a couple of hours later, I was leaving the Plumed Serpent having said "yes to the dress"- Mark Ingram's beautiful "Cloud" gown!
Yet, that was only just the beginning. The Plumed Serpent doesn't just sell you your wedding dress, they work with you in all the months leading up to the big day to make your gown entirely your own through working with their store's designer contacts as well as their in-house seamstress/Fairy Godmother, Lissa. When my gown's designer, Mark Ingram, visited the store, Alison invited me in for the incredible opportunity to work one-on-one with him to brainstorm and finalize all customizations to my gown to make sure that every detail, big and small, would be perfect when my final gown arrived in-store.
When it finally did, Lissa worked with me as if this was her own wedding and gown. Her immense talent shines through in every appointment you have with her as she effortlessly tailors the gown to your body. If you want to look perfect walking down the aisle, she's the woman you need to work with for she ensures every detail is just right. When working on my custom sleeves, she even added extra floral detailing on the top to connect them to the neckline of the dress.
Working with the Plumed Serpent will always be one of my favorite wedding memories, and I miss visiting the store already! Thank you so much to the entire team for going above and beyond to turn my dream wedding gown into a reality. I felt like a princess on my wedding day, and I will cherish my gown forever!

From my first alteration appointment, I knew working with Lissa would be a dream - she had the same eye for perfection as me, and we were on the same page for everything! She made sure my dress fit me perfectly for my big day, leaving me with zero worries. She even added multiple bustle options so I had choices depending on how I felt on my wedding day! All night I kept hearing compliments on how it looked like the dress was truly made for me.

Veils were the next thing that was needed. Since I had a reception dress i wanted to wear a veil with, Chrissy was able to give her expert input on what would go well. Even though I had another veil in mind, she was TOTALLY RIGHT as the one I ultimately got went perfectly! She knows her stuff and will never steer you wrong. After my dress came in, it was time for alterations. wasn't ready and was still sanitizing the area from the last guest (not a big deal and appreciate the staff cleaning the area during COVID). The three of us were told to sit and wait in the front three times by different people (manager/owner?). They didn't like anyone walking around the store and looking at the dresses or touching them. One lady told us that we were damaging the dress since the hanger wasn't straight. I found this off-putting and quite strange. These are all sample dresses (many with imperfections, makeup stains, and even tears). At a Little Something White in Darien, they encourage you to walk around, look at dresses and get a sense for what you like!
Krissy was so sweet, kind and friendly. She really listened to what I was looking for and pulled styles that matched my vision.
I was able to try on just 4 dresses that fell in my budget. If you're willing to spend $5-$15k for a dress, they definitely have more options.

into the beautiful Plumed Serpent bridal shop I felt welcomed, respected, and celebrated. I cannot thank you all enough for that. What had been an experience I had sadly somewhat been dreading, instantly turned into what every girl dreams of when imagining wedding dress shopping without a negative thought at all to my size. The dresses are all gorgeous and Krissy was wonderful in helping me find exactly what I was looking for. Then when the world was spinning out of control due to the pandemic, Allison was so very supportive during what I know was an incredibly difficult time for her and the entire staff as well. When pandemic restrictions were lifted and I was finally able to have my dress fittings, Lissa worked magic in getting the alterations just right. In the end there were far more tears of happiness and I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart. It was well worth the nearly 2 year wait from when I first tried on dresses in July of 2019 to when I finally was able to wear mine in June of 2021! Despite the pandemic putting the celebration on hold for an extra year, it was an incredible day and I am so thankful for it and all of your help and kindness along the way.

I was anxious and somewhat overwhelmed by the entire process, but Krissy listened to my thoughts and made me feel so comfortable and so confident. Lissa made all of the alterations to make sure that my dress fit perfectly on my wedding day; her skill and attention to the tiniest details made such a huge different in the fit and feel of my dress. The biggest difference of all my shopping trips was working with Krissy as my stylist. From the moment I walked in the door, I knew she was going to take care of me. She was attentive, honest, personable, comforting, helpful and determined to find my dress. She asked to see photos and really heard my likes and dislikes - then we walked around the shop to pick out a few starting points. By the end of the appointment, she had uncovered three very different, but very beautiful styles. Prior to this appointment, I had wanted to change something about every dress I tried. Krissy made so many helpful suggestions and was knowledgeable about the designers. I felt at ease with Krissy and am so glad I was paired with her to find "the one".
