Super talented and great and making you feel comfortable and look amazing. They have great choice in music and truly make each film unique to the couple. Melissa and Jim Lakey from the Quail & the Dove are seriously the best cinematic wedding videographers out there! 11/10 would recommend! Our wedding video perfectly depicted us as a couple and the mood/vibe of our wedding day. Everything from the music choice, to the transitions/editing, to the drone footage, to the quick detailed shots made our film extra special. We’ve watched our video countless times now and are all smiles each time. They were able to truly get a grasp for who my husband and I are and what style/vibe we were aiming for. Adventure session: Working with them was a blast; they made the adventure session truly feel like an adventure and everything felt super natural. We were kind of worried initially as we both have never done anything like this before. We were not entirely sure on how to act while being filmed, but they were great at giving us direction and guidance on how to show our love for one another in a way that felt the most natural for us. It truly felt like my husband and I were on a date and just had friendly paparazzi do coverage! Day of Wedding: Melissa and Jim were prompt and easy to contact. They filmed everything from us getting ready to even a mini adventure session post wedding! They captured special moments during our ceremony, during our reception and everything in between. They had asked us specifically what we wanted; we mentioned we’d love to have drone footage of us driving away as newlyweds and what came from that was far beyond our expectations! Communication: Super easy and quick to communicate with them! They are very responsive in their emails and usually reply back within 24 hours. After: They made sure to stay just as active in their communication with us after the wedding and sent us a fun 1-min sneak peek pretty quickly. We received our full length film along with the Super 8 Film Raw footage soon after and again, it was more than we could’ve ever imagined.

Can't say enough good things about Q+D! First of all, the quality of their work speaks for itself. If you haven't had a chance to check out their videos, start there and I guarantee you won't need to read the rest of my review -- you're gonna want to book them right away! However, if you're curious about the BTS (behind the scenes) process, let me tell you -- they are amazing! As a wedding planner, Melissa and Jim are the dream vendors that I wish I can work with for all of my events. Their correspondence via email was quick and thorough, asking questions that only professionals know to ask. My clients also booked an adventure session with them the week of the wedding, and afterward, they could not stop raving about how much fun Melissa + Jim were! They have a skill that brings out the natural and genuine fun in their couples. Come wedding day, they were on time, responsive, and ~chill~ (can't stress enough how important this is for the wedding day!). It's great working with a team that is cool, calm, and collected. Not to mention, PRESENT. Never did we have to find or chase them down -- they were always right there, taking in the action. All in all, don't hesitate! Q+D are 1000% worth it! Let me just start with saying, it doesn't get better than Jim and Melissa! My husband and I were lucky enough to have The Quail and the Dove at our wedding last year and they did the most AMAZING job capturing our favorite day ever. They are kind, easy to work with, have a knack for making you feel comfortable, and are wildly talented. Jim and Melissa operate like flies on the wall, only they are the kind of flies you want to have on your wall. We had the privilege of working with Jim and Melissa again recently for our one year anniversary video and I was reminded of how sweet and talented they are. Whatever the occasion may be, working with The Quail and the Dove will be one of the best decisions you could make for yourself and your fondest moments.

The Quail & The Dove were amazing and they did an exceptional job capturing our wedding day! Two years before our wedding my wife saw a video that The Quail & The Dove had produced for a friend’s wedding and knew that they were the right choice for us (despite not even being engaged yet). When we first met with Jim and Melissa we immediately felt at ease and knew we were in good hands. Not only do they put together incredible cinematic videos but they also take the time to get to know you on a personal level to help better understand who you are as a couple and what you would like to capture on your big day. We opted to add the Adventure Session to our wedding video which ended up being a great decision! Jim and Melissa came to our home in San Diego a day early and were able to record us playing on the beach with our pup and riding bikes on the boardwalk. They went above and beyond by capturing some epic drone footage and we even had Jim doing sprints on the beach to get the perfect action shots! It really captured who we are as a couple and showcased the beautiful scenery around us. As this was all new to us they did an great job helping to direct us while not making it feel staged. Our wedding day went flawlessly and The Quail & The Dove captured every moment of it with ninja-like stealth. It’s incredible how they were able to get all of the shots they needed without feeling like they were in our face or obtrusive in the party. In fact, we and our guests hardly noticed them during cocktail hour and the reception, yet they were able to capture all of the best moments. The turnaround time to get our "teaser" video was incredibly quick and gave us and our guests a quick 60 second recap of our special day. The final video ended up being better than we could have ever imagined. Jim and Melissa took the time to make any edits or background music substitutions that we threw at them. It's true that you get what you pay for when choosing a videographer and we could not have been happier with our decision to choose The Quail & The Dove!

Jim and Melissa were wonderful from the start! They created such a fun and comfortable atmosphere and were such a joy to spend our wedding day with! Already just two weeks after our wedding we have received our teaser videos and I couldn’t be more pleased! Their ability to capture our day and all the feelings in just 30 seconds is amazing, I can’t wait to see the final product. I feel so lucky to have had The Quail and Dove document our day!

Melissa & Jim are the absolute best! From the moment we hired them and first met them on a video call, we knew they were the right videographers for us. We were wary to have a video that would feel like a cheesy wedding video, but based on their past work and their vibe, we knew they were right for us. While we just got married last weekend (and desperately can't wait to see the video!!), we had to review them for how amazing they were at our wedding. Leading up to it they got a real sense for the vibe we were going for and what was most important for us in our video. Day of, they were both such a pleasure to be with. They were both so on top of everything while still remaining calm and sweet with a sense of humor! They had awesome ideas for what I can only imagine will make for such a cool video. They blended in the background so you never felt like a camera was there, yet still were able to capture all the love and fun and laughter of every part of our day. They were great when we had a few hiccups, answered questions when we weren't sure about something, and overall just made sure the whole day went so smoothly. I have no doubt that their video will be perfect and exactly the vibe we're going for. They made us feel so comfortable, like we were just hanging out with two friends (who happen to be AMAZING videographers!). From the initial FaceTime with Melissa, we knew we made the right decision choosing them for our wedding! They completely captured the feeling of the day from beginning to end. They are so genuine and made us feel comfortable throughout the day–I can't believe some of the shots they got because I honestly didn't even realize they were there half the time! We're so lucky and grateful to have such a perfect depiction of our wedding day to watch forever :)

Melissa and Jim with The Quail & The Dove are about the kindest people we've met and we were so honored to have them film our special day. We knew the moment we spoke to them on the phone that we were going to like them. They exceeded all our expectations and some. They captured every detail of the wedding we were hoping to be able to look back on. One thing we really appreciated was how easy they were able to contact and how well they worked with our vendors. They also made the trip out to San Marcos which was very nice! We highly recommend The Quail and The Dove and were so lucky we found such amazing people!

It is hard to put into words how much I recommend The Quail and The Dove. My mom found them on instagram (!) and knew she wanted to have them make a video for my wedding day. I was having a smaller wedding at our family home in Santa Fe (they travel too!) and thought it was going to be too much to have a videographer in the first place. I cannot express how thankful and happy I am that she went ahead and hired them even when I said we didn't need to. We are a very playful/goofy couple that doesn't show the romantic/lovely dovey side of things often and especially not around people, and the video that they created captured this perfectly while still showing our deep love for each other (something that we were nervous about). Before the day- we spoke to them over the phone when we were confirming hiring them for the wedding day and then we FaceTimed them before the wedding to go over logistics and meet before the day of. We didn't have an official wedding planner as my mom did most of the planning, so they really adapted to going with the flow (which was much of the feel of our wedding). On the day- they were so easy to be around on the biggest day of our lives. It didn't feel like they were there most of the time yet they got intimate footage of the most special moments. They are both so nice and professional. You can tell that they know what they are doing and when/if they ask you to do something specific you know that it is because they have a great vision and it is important as they didn't ask for much, just filmed around what we were doing. The video- like I mentioned, it shattered any and all of our expectations. They worked with us to figured out the perfect music and had great recommendations that fit us (bluegrass) and were so quick (we were slowing them down as we were slowly getting back into the real world after our honeymoon and taking a while to get back to them :)). We have watched the video so many times already and will continue to watch it throughout the rest of our lives, not only because it was of our wedding day, but because of the quality. They are true artists and professionals. Extra videos- We also were able to purchase video edits of the ceremony and the speeches, which are extremely special since you don't always remember exactly what was said in the moment and now are able to see it over and over again. If we could give The Quail and The Dove more than five stars we would, for the professionalism and ease of working with them on the day of the wedding as well as the video they created for us. We are beyond pleased with their service and grateful for them! If you think you don't need a videographer - you definitely do and it definitely needs to be The Quail and The Dove - they know what they are doing!

The Quail and the Dove are the BEST. If you're on the fence about a wedding video, don't be. Melissa and Jim delivered a beautiful video that perfectly captured our day and the vibe of the wedding. My husband, who was concerned about the usual cringeworthiness of wedding videos, was so impressed and we both agree that going with The Quail and The Dove was one of the best decisions we made during the wedding planning process.

I can't believe there are no reviews for The Quail & The Dove on here yet. Their work is absolutely incredible. Their professionalism and personalities are beyond impressive. I could not say more good things about Melissa and Jim. They were absolutely the best money spent for our wedding day, and we will forever cherish and enjoy the work they did for us. From beginning to end - wedding planning, the day of, and thereafter - they were understanding, patient, kind and professional. If you are wondering about The Quail & The Dove, the only thing you should be wondering is, "Will they have my wedding day open?".
