The Queens Bees

I hired Queen's Bees to do hair and makeup (Kayla and Ashley on hair, Paige and Amber on makeup) for 16 (!!) women/girls (me the bride, bridesmaids, moms, stepmoms, flower girls, and others for my wedding on May 21, 2022, and I was completely blown away by their talent. I (and at least one of my bridesmaids) are very picky about our makeup and have not historically loved getting our makeup done, but Paige and Amber crushed it!! All of my ladies loved how their hair and makeup turned out and everyone looked stunning. Not only are the Queen's Bees artists talented, but I was so impressed with how organized they were about juggling 16 people and seamlessly adjusted when we had a few of our ladies not show up on time for their appointments. They were so timely and kept everything running smoothly AND made the getting-ready process so fun and exciting. They were also super flexible and accommodating with our requests. Jenn Hix, the owner/manager of Queen's Bees, was also wonderful to work with and on top of all coordination from the point I booked Queen's Bees up through the wedding day. I can't recommend Queen's Bees enough! Don't wait - just book them!

I wish I could rate Chloe and Amber higher that 5/5. They should have been 15/5. They absolutely crushed. My makeup - airbrushed- looked so good! My hair was exactly what I wanted too! They were also able to get through 6 very picky bride bridesmaids and MOB/MOG. Grateful for you guys!

Everyone loved their hair and makeup!!! They actually help do skincare prep for each person before doing makeup, and even were able to squeeze in some last minute add ons of people who decided they wanted hair or makeup done. My mom and mother in law barely ever do their makeup and they were a little nervous. But their skin looked flawless and they felt amazing. Plus the whole team that Jenn brought out were so kind and gave great advice. Loved it all!!

The Queen's Bee, led by Jenn Hix, was so incredibly sweet, supportive, and responsive over the course of our wedding planning and through the pandemic. She arranged a schedule with two of her hair stylists to do hair on the morning of our wedding day. On the day of the wedding, Kayla and Janina were absolutely the sweetest and did a stellar job with the 6 bridesmaids, mother of the groom, and bride. We would recommend them highly and hope to work with them next time we are in the San Luis Obispo area!

I really enjoyed working with The Queen’s Bees! Jennifer who organizes everything was so wonderful and I’m so glad I worked with her. She was responsive and friendly, and I felt very taken care of, and she was always quick to respond. She helped select a great team of makeup and hair stylists for our wedding day, all of whom were very talented at what they do and all the women in the wedding looked great! I don’t know how I got so lucky to work with Jenn, but my goodness, THANK YOU!!! From the very beginning, Jenn was so understanding and always quick to respond no matter how insanely busy she was. When we had to postpone and go through the uncertainty of COVID wedding planning, Jenn was incredibly supportive and kind, even as she had to navigate her own COVID wedding and other life events. From my bridal trial to the day of, Jenn and her team were incredible. I had the pleasure of working with Jenn for my makeup and Kayla for my hair, and they both could take my frazzled/fragments of different bridal hair and make-up inspirations, even when I changed my mind a little after trials, and helped my wedding come together into a beautiful day! We had quite the group of 13 women from all age groups, so I was slightly stressed with such a big and diverse group, but the Queen Bee’s knocked it out of the park. Everyone looked gorgeous and finished on time, which is seriously impressive! The attention to detail and sweet souls really added something special to the day. Jenn was more than just my incredibly talented make-up artist of the day, but like a friend I have known forever and brought me such peace and laughter throughout the morning. I wish I lived closer so I could make up all kinds of excuses to work with them again! I would absolutely recommend them to ANYONE looking for a hair and make-up team. They are so creative and so professional... you will not find a better team anywhere! I love the Queen Bee’s!!!

Anna was an amazing makeup artist. She was communicative and bubbly! Her personality really helped the 6am wake up time get a bit brighter! She made sure to check in with you along the way of applying makeup to make sure you loved everything she was doing. If you had any ideas or options she made sure to adjust accordingly without any issues! I felt absolutely beautiful my entire wedding day and my makeup stayed together and looked so natural!

Thank you Jordy for the gorgeous hair and makeup services on my wedding day. It was perfect, and my makeup lasted all day. I thoroughly enjoyed our time together and felt like a Queen! Many thanks!

Jenn and Maryah did such amazing work if could give them more than five stars I would! Maryah did my hair and she worked magic on my naturally curly hair. I was from out of town so I didn't have a trial and just sent her pictures of what I was thinking of doing. In order to get the look I wanted Maryah suggested doing a blowout on my hair which as curly girl I had never done before. But I figured why not try it since I wanted my hair to curly but not too much so and definitely not frizzy. She did such an amazing job! I got tons of compliments on my hair. I really loved it. Jenn did my makeup and it was nothing short of perfection. Again I showed her pictures of of what I wanted and she was spot on. It was exactly what I pictured. I don't wear makeup much everyday and wow I am going to start trying to work somethings in and learn how to do my makeup. My husband really loved my eyes! Thanks so much Jenn!

Jenn, who managed, was great to work with and very responsive! The girls that worked on my bridesmaids and I made us so beautiful! They really listened to us and did exactly what we wanted! I'm still getting compliments about my hair and makeup!

These ladies are amazing. From day one of me contacting Jenn - she made everything smooth and flawless with her crew. The hair and makeup trial was the total selling point. The girls were friendly and when I showed them what I was looking for they were spot on! All the girls in the bridal party loved them and they looked beautiful. I think I found my regular salon to go to from now on. I just can't thank them enough how talented these women are!

The Queen's Bee's was simply amazing to work with! They are a collective agency of hair and make up artists but they only let in the best! Jenn is who I communicated with for the majority of the time to set everything up and she was super responsive and helpful! The actual artists I ended up working with were Rece for hair and Alex for make up and both went above and beyond my expectations! I was super happy with my hair and make up at the trial but the day of the wedding it looked even better which I didn't think was possible! They both are clearly amazing at what they do - all of our hair and make up was flawless and they are able to work so quickly we were never worried about timing! They happen to be brother and sister which made the whole situation even better - the day of the wedding they made myself, my bridesmaids, and my mom laugh continuously for hours! They were also super sweet and would ask if there was anything else they could help with, it really made our day so much more fun and relaxing having them there! I would highly recommend The Queen's Bee's especially Rece and Alex for your big day as they are fabulous!

Jennifer and Alex were amazing! They made all my girls feel beautiful without over doing the makeup. They do the most natural looking makeup. Jennifer had me laughing the whole time and is so sweet!

I cannot even begin to express how kind and accommodating Jenn and Katie were for my wedding. Their talent and professionalism go above and beyond, and they made the whole "getting ready" process an absolute blast. They helped keep me calm and the room full of laughter. Jenn, makeup artist, does absolutely stunning work. She accommodated each of my girls' individual needs and wants and made all of us look flawless and stunning. And the makeup stayed beautiful ALL DAY even in high temps! Katie, hair stylist, does the best updos and wedding hair I've ever seen! Everyone was happy and felt her work truly depicted the pictures they were striving to look like. I have never felt more beautiful and wish I lived in the area so they could make me beautiful all the time! Love these ladies!

Jennifer and her team did an awesome job! Alex did my make-up and Marlee did my hair. Both did a great job! I loved working with the Queens Bees all the artists were good at their jobs, super friendly and easy to work with!

Amazing work! Communication was a breeze and Jennifer Hix always responded promptly. I was able to connect with each of my artists well in advance to go over looks etc & they were all so helpful! Day went smoothly and everything was ON TIME!

We hired Queen Bees after receiving a recommendation from another vendor. They were amazing and I was able to send them photos and complete the hair/make-up trial last minute. I was slightly nervous about doing the trial so last minute, but they exceeded my expectations. They were able to also work with various people changing their minds about wanting hair and make-up done and what style they wanted for the wedding. Possibly worse still, I ended up getting injured at work two weeks before the wedding and had a small gash on my forehead, which Alex was able to cover up flawlessly (can’t even tell it is there in the pictures). Ashley was even able to work with putting two bridesmaids in the exact same hair style, which was difficult to do (one has super straight hair and one has super curly, ringlet hair). I do not know how she did it put she actually straightened the pulled back part of my SIL hair back, but kept her natural curls for the bun part. We were getting married on the beach and none of our hairstyles were out of place after or even at the end of the night and my make-up after A LOT of happy tears/blubbering stayed completely on for the night. My only recommendation is make sure to have good make-up remover at the end of the night. We are extremely pleased with both their performance and they helped to make our female bridal party even more beautiful. We would highly recommend Queen Bees (Jen Hix, Alex and Ashely) to anyone planning a wedding in San Luis Obispo County or the California Central Coast, as the definitely helped to make our wedding amazing.

We had the absolute best experience working with The Queen's Bees! My husband and I got married this past August at HammerSky Vineyards. Since it was a destination wedding I had to decide on a H&M team remotely, which was a very stressful process. I have been in many, many weddings and have been unhappy with my hair and makeup nearly every time, so I was very concerned about picking a styling team without being able to meet in person and have a trial. I like a very light and natural look, and no matter how often I communicate that I always feel like my makeup is much too heavy and hair overstyled. However, I found Jenn to be so wonderful and her portfolio so beautiful that I decided to hire The Queen's Bees despite never having met them in person. We arrived in Paso on Tuesday evening, and Wednesday morning my mom and I headed down to SLO to do my hair and makeup trial with Jenn and Katie. I was obviously a bit apprehensive about doing my trial four days before our wedding, but the second I stepped into the salon all my cares flew away. We spent about 2.5 hours with Jenn and Katie and I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences of our entire wedding week. Both Jenn and Katie overwhelmed me with their kindness, professionalism, and skill. I walked out of the salon feeling absolutely relaxed and beautiful - a feeling which stayed with me during our entire wedding week. On the day of the wedding, Jenn and her team did the hair and makeup of myself, my eight bridesmaids, and three moms. I was worried it would feel rushed or crowded, but the entire experience was absolutely perfect. We had so much fun. Everyone was laughing, relaxed, and happy. The positivity that the Queen's Bees brought to the morning absolutely radiated, and that feeling was absorbed by each and every girl in our wedding party. Everyone felt beautiful, happy, and confident. The only way I can describe my wedding experience was "bliss" and I feel that much of that was because of the energy that Jenn and her team brought the morning we were getting ready. The Queen's Bees was one of the best vendors we hired and one of the best decisions we made during the entire wedding planning process. I could not recommend them enough!

My sister treated me with the gift of having my hair and makeup done for my wedding... and goodness am I so glad she did! Jenn was amazing! She was so sweet and happy, both during the trial (after she'd traveled home all night instead of slept) and for my wedding (which we started getting ready for at 5am). During the trial she gave me different options for my eyes, lashes, blush and lips based on the photos I had shown her. She did an awesome job of pulling inspiration from the photos to make me look pretty and done-up, but not over the top or caked with makeup. Her personality put me at ease during the whole process and I'm so thankful I had her there to make me look extra good for my wedding day!

I haven't had any services with them yet, but so far they've been awesome to deal with. The owner is very quick to respond and answer questions. She's very personable and her prices seem reasonable. The First Lady I found to do my hair and makeup for my wedding day was horrible. She was more expensive, she did not have a portfolio online, she was difficult to deal with and then she backed out on me because the simple chignon style I wanted she couldn't do. When I found the queens bees it was my saving grace.

So amazing! I used Jessi for both my engagement pictures and wedding day and both my hair and makeup looked as great after as they did before! My mom and bridesmaids hair and makeup looked stunning as well and I would recommend her to anyone!

Candice, Jessi and Brooke came to the Apple Farm to do hair/makeup for my wedding (me, my moms and 3 bridesmaids). I absolutely loved our hair and makeup, and my bridesmaids and mom looked even more beautiful than always. Candice did my makeup and she killed it, it was exactly what I wanted. Jessi is amazing at any hair style you want, I loved my hair! Brooke did one of my bridesmaid’s makeup which really never likes makeup that makeup artists do on her and she loved the makeup that Brooke did! All the ladies were super cool to work with too. I had a spray tan done by Candice at her shop The Face and Body Shoppe in San Luis Obispo 2 days before my wedding and I am so happy I did. She does an amazing job and her shop is adorable! Asha also did my makeup for my engagement photos and she is amazing as well! Reeda was great with communication and made sure everything was set for my engagement photos, trials and day of for hair & makeup! I would highly suggest them for any wedding and book them early!! Thank you so much ladies!

The Queens Bees did such a wonderful job! Reeda was professional and easy to communicate with. I had a pretty big wedding party and she was so on top of organizing the day and making sure everything went as scheduled and that we had plenty of time. All the girls who came on the day of were amazing! As the bride, Jordy did my hair and Jess did my make up. They were both great and I was so happy with both my hair and my makeup. All my bridesmaids were really happy to! I would highly recommend using them!

I loved working with The Queens Bees. Reeda paired my up with Jessi who did a stunning job on my wedding make up and hair! I highly recommend them!

The make up artists were very professional and talented. They came to my home (for a $50 travel fee each. I was very pleased with the end result of myself and my bridesmaids (as I should have been, it was pricey!!). The owner and coordinator of artists, trials, and timelines was rather difficult, however.

Reeda selected wonderful hair and makeup artists for my and my girls. She asked me to share my vision for our look so she could match us up to stylists accordingly. All of my ladies looked absolutely stunning and the artists were so much fun -- just the type of people you want to spend your wedding morning with! Janina and Candace were absolutely amazing -- I'm even going to Janina for my haircuts now!

I have never felt prettier. I had the Queen's Bee's do my hair and make up for both my engagement photos as well as my wedding. They looked at my pictures and took my ideas to create an amazing look. My bridesmaids looked unbelievable as well.

The Queens Bess owner, hairstylist and makeup artists were all just great! The owner was very patient with me, as it seemed to take me forever to get the contract back to her, etc. :-/ The hairstylist and makeup artists did an amazing job making me, my MOH, bridesmaids and flowergirl look beautiful for our special day. I would HIGHLY recommend them!!

Vicky did the hair and Candice did our make-up. We all got so many compliments on our looks! The girls were very sweet and professional. My curls fell as the night went on, but that was due to my choice of wearing my hair down. And my nose got shiny as the night wore on, but it was an outdoor summer wedding, so I won't blame it on the make-up. Just be sure that no matter who you choose, you think through your style selections. One thing I really loved was that since I told Vicky some loose guidelines for my bridesmaids hair styles, she would check with me after talking to each girl to make sure the style they wanted fit into the look I had in mind. I don't live in the area, but I would love to stop in an see Vicky for a blowout next time I'm up there. She's just sweet and did an amazing job on my rehearsal dinner blow out as well :)

Everyone came to my house and got ready. All bridesmaids and myself were extremely satisfied with the completed hair and makeup. Just as they wanted and both the master stylists and stylists are fantastic.

The owner was very quick to respond and work with me to find the best fit for my needs. I did a hair and make up trail and once we were done the stylist and I talked about what we would do differently on the day of the wedding and she took pictures to remember. Well the day of the wedding she blew it out of the park. My hair was AMAZING!!!! It looked so good and my makeup was awesome! Also the stylists did an awesome job with my mom and made her feel so beautiful. They are 100% worth the cost, which was on the high end of my budget, but totally worth it!!
