The Red Barn Farm of Northfield: Minutes from Cities! The Red Barn Farm is a family-run wedding venue located in the beautiful college and river town of Northfield, MN. The 10-acre property has a vineyard, two horses, free-range "happy" chickens, and million-dollar views. The newly constructed, "rustic-elegant" barn features: * Two handicap accessible, three-stall restrooms w/cement trough sinks * Two lofts, each featuring a wedding party suite, with a sliding, privacy barn door * Premier lighting, which fills the space with warmth * Comfort, with in-floor heat and air conditioning * Custom-made tables and wooden chairs (included) * A large indoor bar, including a roll-up, mini garage door to access one of the barn's patios The ceremony site is set against the vineyard with gorgeous views of the fields as far as the eye can see. The ceremony arches are made from over 100-year-old beams and complement the limestone patio and wooden bench seating. The grassy aisle is a perfect walkway. Several patios are on the property; one being the rooftop patio, which is a wonderful space to hold a social hour. The patio has several tables and chairs, set under sparkling string lighting, and an attached deck is a perfect space for photo opportunities and holds several high-top tables. The terrace patio has a relaxed vibe with wooden picnic tables; it overlooks the horses and the chickens. Guests use it as they play yard games or to take a break as they walk the grounds after dinner. Near the barn is a stamped concrete patio, which is set up for socializing and fun! It includes a bonfire pit (wood and maintenance are included) with wicker chairs, benches, and table and chair sets. It screams "S'mores please!" There are several high-top wine barrel tables set around the barn, providing more spaces to gather. We provide a set of yard games for you and your guests to enjoy. On a side note, we host weekly wood-fired pizza nights from Spring-Fall; this is a wonderful way for us to see couples again (and sometimes growing families!) and for couples to revisit and re-live wonderful memories. We are a family-run business and pride ourselves on being there for you and doing all we are able to do to assist in making your perfect wedding a reality. The Winter Family

We both grew up in the midwest with gardening, cooking & hosting gatherings being part of our lives. For us, those are ways of expressing love and caring. Being able to incorporate some these elements into our wedding business is amazing! Our farm, which was founded in 1883, held dairy cows, hogs and large crop farming. Since 2011, we have been operating this family-run business as a wedding venue. We have been blessed with the opportunity to share our farm during such a special day in people's lives!

All in all, we were very happy with our wedding and would choose this venue over again. There were some aspects of our experience, however, that caused a lot of undue stress during...
the process. Positives: - The barn is gorgeous and has a very warm environment. Between the animals, bonfire, and potential outdoor cocktail hour, there is so much for guests to enjoy. -The tour was a very positive experience and was a sweet memory for us. -Tammy and Patrick were very accessible during the whole process and responded to all questions in a timely manner. - Communication about venue costs was very clear: what you see in the initial cost is what you get. -Tammy and Patrick were very accessible the day of the wedding. -There was a very sweet gift provided by the venue at the end of our wedding. Stressors: -Very little about the interior aspects of the venue were up for discussion. Tables are hardly able to be rearranged. Decor table setup was not laid out as discussed despite multiple phone and email conversations. -Though advertising states that venue capacity is up to 400, even half as many guests were very difficult to seat on the main level. -No reminders of payment schedule were provided, which every other vendor did for us. -The venue was on the more expensive side and only allows two possible caterers: one that is very casual food and one that is VERY expensive farm to table. Food was delicious but we definitely paid for it. -The large barn door that opens the dance floor to the outside, a major feature of the space, is not an option with a band. Once again, we had a lovely wedding at Red Barn Farm. Being informed of the above, however, would have greatly eased the process of our planning.

mprove. Ideally, we would like to receive improvement feedback privately so that we can clear up any misunderstandings or issues together. Also, it is useful to know who left the review/what event so that it would be possible to communicate with each other. However, we still really appreciate the information. We appreciate the “pros” and “cons” that you laid out and I would like to clear up a few things mentioned. First, we are so pleased to know that you would choose to celebrate with us again! Our venue capacity is 300, not 400 people, which is on our marketing information as well as discussed during the tour. During the tour, it is stated that after a certain number of guests, the loft areas are used for seating during dinner. You are correct that the barn layout does not have a lot of options for arranging the tables. This is due to placement of several barn support posts, as well as our desire to create a nice flow for walking, accessibility to the bar, dance floor, restrooms and exit doors. We try our best to accommodate special requests, but they are not always possible. We are not involved in any decor set up on the day of and this is stated during the tour, in our open house email and in the final checklist. The final checklist is emailed out approximately 2 months prior to the event, which includes a reminder of the final payment and damage deposit. Regarding bands prohibiting accessibility to the big barn doors, this can be the case due to the equipment and if there is a larger number of musicians hired, as set up is in the entrance with the doors. It comes down to if the band can accommodate the use of the doors during the dance. In an event this year, there were a larger number of musicians and the band specifically requested that the doors not be used as it would affect their sound; the couple was made aware of this request. We know that costs can add up with the food and beverage, but we are not involved in food or beverages decisions. Our guests are still talking about how gorgeous everything was—and of course, the adorable animals, especially the chickens wandering around, were such a fun and unique touch! there for us throughout the whole day, helping with whatever we needed. We had several older guests and Tammy was always there to give them a ride to where they had to be on her golf cart. The atmosphere is 10/10, the grounds are so beautiful with many outdoor patios and hangout areas for guests to enjoy. The food, beverages and service were fantastic. Staff was amazing. Lodging options are only 10 minutes from the venue which was great for us as we had many out of town guests. We have gotten so many compliments from our guests about the venue, couldn’t recommend this venue enough! Everyone had a great time!

tmosphere. One of the reasons that we selected them was that they assured us that there was a plan for dealing with unexpected weather. This you will not always find with other traditional outdoor vendors. Our September weather was not perfect and we chose to switch to an indoor ceremony. The owners, Patrick and Tammy provided us with several options and worked closely with the entire wedding party to ensure that everything came off without a hitch. The looks on the wedding guest's faces were priceless when the two large doors were opened for our entrance and a gentle breeze caught my daughter's veil. This is a family-run organization that treated our wedding like it was one of their own. They operate with integrity and care about the details. The memories that they helped us create will last a lifetime.

. The owners come across amazing during your tour and the days leading up to your wedding - prior to the day of, the venue was the one vendor i wasn't worried about. How wrong this assumption was. The day of our wedding arrived and the owners were consistently rude to us from the moment we stepped on the property prior to any guests even arriving. They were rude to the brides parents, the grooms parents, and our guests. They harassed guests all night following them around on their golf cart and yelling at them for this or that. We had over 15 different people reach out to me or my husband in the following days of our wedding letting us know how poorly they were treated by the venue owners. Yes, I did hear some rules were broken and I politely reminded those people of that but there is a way to address problems and rules and I felt this was poorly handled. On top of this every vendor I had that was not one of the venues required vendors came to me the following day to also inform me how poorly they were treated by the venue owners. They made an already stressful day incredibly more stressful and emotionally taxing. I understand this venue is at their home but with the astronomical prices they charge and the false air of caring they give off I was very disappointed with the atmosphere they created for my husband and I, our family, and our friends. No one wants to hear about how their guests were harassed or how poorly their vendors were treated (condescending, talked down to were a few of the descriptions we received.) And for how much money we spent a simple hello hope your day is beautiful at the beginning of the day would be nice rather than jumping in and telling us all the things we were doing wrong. I feel that other weddings should be aware of this if debating on booking here or maybe this was a fluke situation either way I felt the need to share our experience. The venue itself is beautiful, the required food and bar service were fantastic it was the owners that were problematic for us at least.

ouples. As you can imagine, no celebration is ever the same. It was mentioned how pleased the couple was with the tour of the facility and the help they received leading up to the wedding, that the day-of, the venue was beautiful, and that the food and bar service was fantastic; that is always great to hear. All venues have rules, i.e., where you can smoke (designated smoking areas) and that you cannot bring your own coolers/drinks and drink in the parking lot, and if there is hazardous clean up involved (vomit), part of the damage deposit will be kept. Unfortunately, the rules were disregarded and they took offense to being reminded. We wish them the best in the future and look forward to the next celebration. Sincerely, Tammy & Patrick

ecial, but to get to know Tammy, Patrick, and the staff on a more personal level was so nice. Tammy and Patrick are kind, communicative, and fun. They were so supportive and willing to work with us when we had to postpone from July 2020 to July 2021. They were very helpful during our special day - from morning set up through the very end, they were quietly present and available whenever we needed them. The farm itself is beautiful. Every detail inside of the new, climate controlled barn is perfect. We loved the way the preserved as many pieces of the old barn as possible in the rebuild. The gardens, ceremony site options, vineyard, horses and chickens, bonfire pit, and other fun areas on the grounds ensured that there was something for everyone throughout the night. We are extremely happy with our experience with the Red Barn Farm. We can’t wait to return each year near our anniversary for pizza nights. Thank you, Tammy and Patrick!

te using the beautiful furniture they had available and had the reception in the barn, which is so lovely that simple decorations were all that were really needed. The food is incredible - all made and mostly grown on-site. Our guests still rave about the pizza! Tammy and Patrick were incredibly kind and helpful throughout the planning process (especially critical as we were planning from the East Coast!)as well as on the day-of. They pointed us to local vendors and were immensely accommodating to any requests or questions we had. The only challenge we had was the lack of space for getting ready before the wedding. We easily made up for this by renting two hotel rooms in Northfield for the guys and gals to get ready in the morning of the wedding. Overall, we really couldn't have asked for a better venue for our big day and are sure you will feel the same.

y one of our guests commented on how delicious the pizza, roasted veggies, and pickled veggies were! They even made us our own special "newlywed" pizza! Tammy & Patrick were on top of everything leading up to the wedding and throughout the entire day. They were truly amazing. While we were the last couple to have our wedding in the original barn, I know that the new space will be equally charming, beautiful, and picturesque as it was for our wedding!

They really listened to our requests, were open to ideas, and guided us through the planning process giving tips and advice along the way. Their staff worked hard to make our day feel seamless, amidst any adjustments here and there. The entire menu was delicious and a great variety of food - really a highlight of the whole day.
