I don't even know how to express how incredible The Retreat at Balcones Springs is. The property, the atmosphere, the staff -- everything is truly exceptional. After a health issue in our family meant we had to pivot our wedding from Costa Rica to somewhere closer to home in Texas, we knew we wanted to create a weekend that our loved ones would never forget. Our wedding weekend at The Retreat exceeded every dream we had. From the very first message with Courtney, I was struck by how warm, thoughtful, and genuinely caring she was. Throughout the planning process, she was always there to answer questions, figure out creative solutions, and make sure we had everything we needed so we could actually relax and enjoy the experience. Then came the wedding weekend itself, and it's hard to put into words just how magical it was. Whether it was the welcome dinner, afternoons by the pool or lake, strolling down the dirt paths, making s'mores by the fire, or dancing the night away, every time I looked around, our guests were smiling. The entire weekend flowed so seamlessly, and even when adjustments needed to be made, everything was handled with such calm professionalism that we never had to worry. The hospitality was truly second to none. Every allergy was accommodated, every need was anticipated (hello, sunscreen!), and every detail felt intentional. Even the cabins were so thoughtfully decorated -- warm, beautiful, and inviting. They perfectly captured the charm of the property while still feeling elevated and comfortable, making everyone feel right at home. One of the most meaningful parts of the weekend was how Christine and Courtney cared for my father-in-law. He had some last-minute additional needs due to his brain cancer, and they went above and beyond to make sure he could fully be part of our wedding. They helped arrange a wheelchair rental, switched to a more accessible cabin, and made sure he was driven to an easier location so he could walk down the aisle with my husband and mother-in-law. My father-in-law has since passed away, and looking back, having him at our wedding is one of the greatest gifts we've ever been given. Not only was he able to be there, but he was able to truly enjoy himself because of the compassion and care Christine and Courtney showed our family. That simply would not have been possible without them, and we will be forever grateful. It was the best weekend of our lives. And I don't mean to brag...but every single one of our friends and family members has told us it was the best wedding they've ever been to. If you're looking for an upscale summer camp experience that makes you feel like a kid again -- but with incredible food (seriously, I could write an entire review just about the chefs!), amazing wine, stunning scenery, and unmatched hospitality, don't hesitate to book The Retreat at Balcones Springs. This is a truly remarkable space for a wedding. From summer camp lodge vibes to rustic Texan, they can really accommodate and host whatever your vision is. From the very first tour, we were treated to wonderful food, personalized scheduling, flexibility, and excitement. The venue was available for any and all questions and truly listened to what we wanted. The real icing on the cake is the personalization - add ons like a s’mores bonfire, a movie under the stars, swimming and water games, archery, and facilitated team building made this feel like the happiest summer camp weekend of our lives. Amid all of that, though, they do not let quality falter - all of the locations, materials, furniture, and supplies were so high quality and gorgeous that it really felt like a wedding. Day of, when rain threatened to ruin our plans, they helped us pivot and make changes on the fly with EASE so we had the very best wedding we could’ve dreamed of. Courtney was our point of contact at the Retreat and she was always communicative, helpful, kind, and made it so easy to host a wedding here. A wonderful experience I would do again!
