The Retreat

The Retreat Band was spectacular and I cannot recommend them enough! Their energy was contagious and our dance floor was packed the whole night. We had countless guests comment on how fabulous the band was, playing a wide range of music that guests from every generation could enjoy! Every member of the band was so kind and easy to work with! We will cherish the fun memories made on the dance floor for years to come.

Before our wedding everyone was asking us "how's the band?" and honestly we didn't really know. All we had to go off of was some of their videos and other bride's reviews. Well, let me tell you, they were awesome!! We got sooooooo many compliments about the band from guests. Our dance floor was packed the whole night. They were super sweet and easy to work with. They learned the song I asked for and it was so special to me. They made our wedding so much fun! I would definitely recommend The Retreat to any bride!

Our wedding in Charlottesville, VA was SO much fun because of The Retreat! We had a trio play during our cocktail hour and the full band during our reception, and they were both spectacular. They learned a song that wasn’t on their existing list for our first dance and played it perfectly, and our father/daughter and mother/son dances were so special as well. After that, our dance floor was packed all night, and they played a perfect mix of throwbacks and current hits. They also handled all our A/V needs for the reception and provided mics for speeches and toasts. The #1 compliment my husband and I received after our wedding from guests of all ages was some variation on “that band was AMAZING” – and they really, really were. They were also very responsive in the lead up to our wedding, which we greatly appreciated. We were so thrilled with every element of working with The Retreat, and would highly, highly recommend them!

The Retreat were an incredible band to work with. They played our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, and excelled at each part. During the ceremony, I wanted to play less traditional music (guitar covers of Disney songs and The Beatles), and they didn't bat an eye and played so beautifully. Everyone was obsessed with the saxophone player during the cocktail hour, and the reception was top notch. They kept the dance floor going the entire night, and at one point they read the room quite well and played an amazing early 2000's mashup that had all of us millennials screaming at the top of our lungs. My dad is a musician, and he personally picked The Retreat, and he was also blown away by their talent and professionalism. They were also extremely flexible when we had to move our wedding (3 times!) because of COVID. I would highly recommend the retreat for anyone that wants to keep the party going for all generations!

One of our top priorities for our wedding was the band. We LOVE going to weddings and dancing and we knew that we wanted our band to get everyone out on the dance floor. We looked at tons of reviews and went through Sam Hill Entertainment as they had such a great variety of bands to choose from. We listened to tons of demos and they were great at giving recommendations. We chose The Retreat and we are so thrilled that we did. They literally got every single guest out on the dance floor. We gave some general feedback for the types of music we like, but other than specialty dances had no specific requests and they CRUSHED it.

We could not have been happier! Everyone was dancing from the time they started to the finale. Having contracted them before covid and postponing our event, they were flexible and accommodating. We would hire them again and again!

The Retreat played at my niece's wedding in 2015 and they were so terrific, I knew I wanted them for my daughter's wedding when the time came. Six years later it happened and I booked The Retreat, and they were just as great -- if not better -- and had the entire crowd of all ages up and going from the get-go. I have heard back from some many wedding guests about how stupendous they were -- musicality, variety, enthusiasm. I cannot rank them high enough and would wholeheartedly get them for your reception. You will not be disappointed!

The Retreat did such an amazing job performing at our wedding this past November. We hired them for both our cocktail hour and reception. During the cocktail hour, we had 3 of the band members playing nice acoustic music to entertain our guests and then their set list for the reception was amazing! A perfect mix of older hits and current hits to please the whole crowd. Our guests continue to tell us how much they loved The Retreat and how much fun they had on the dance floor. They also did a beautiful job singing our first dance song, father/daughter song, and mother/son song. We couldn't be more happy with The Retreat and would recommend them to anyone looking for a band for their wedding.

Where do I even begin?! We booked The Retreat for our September 25th wedding in Virginia and they were hands down one of the best decisions we made in terms of wedding planning. Not only are they incredibly talented musicians who know how to build up the crowd and keep the party going, but they were such a pleasure to work with from the start of planning to the very last song at our reception. I can't tell you how many wedding guests have since told us how awesome our band was and how much fun they had on the dance floor. We couldn't agree more! So THANK YOU to The Retreat for making our day so incredibly special. You are truly one of a kind. We couldn't appreciate you guys more!

The Retreat were FANTASTIC! We received endless compliments after our celebration on how great of a show they put on. If you're looking for a wedding band in ATL look no further! They offer a wide variety of songs and know how to get the people dancing. We booked them through Sam Hill Entertainment - both the band and Sam Hill were responsive and easy to work with. 10/10 would work with again.

AMAZING band!!! High energy, talented, and fun! They had our guests happily dancing all night! Rich is a pleasure to work with as well! We definitely recommend!

DO NOT BOOK THIS BAND. It rained during set-up before the wedding, and they didn’t think to throw a tarp over their equipment, so the equipment got wet, and they couldn’t play due to fire hazard. When we contacted The Retreat after the event for a partial refund to cover the cost of the new band we luckily found 10 minutes before the ceremony (yes, true story. most stressful day of my life) they refused to cover that amount. 4 months later, I still get a pit in my stomach thinking about how this band ruined my wedding day (the stress and the tears I shed could have been avoided with a tarp). They didn’t perform and won’t return the thousands of dollars we paid them.

The Retreat is AMAZING!! They were so easy to work with and played an incredible set for our reception and sax during our cocktail hour. They did not miss a beat and kept our dance floor going all night! Their mashups were crowd pleasers and our guests were literally chanting for an encore at the end of the night. I cannot say enough good things about their performance -- it was the talk of the night!!

I don't think our wedding would have been what is was without with The Retreat!! Every song was a HIT, every request I made was heard, and every guest was up and dancing. Their mash ups and blend of songs were impressive and brought a unique style of music to our event. We received compliments all night about the music choice and the band's energy. We're all still hobbling around from dancing ALL night. It's been a pleasure to work with Sam Hill and The Retreat - we definitely recommend them to others!!

The Retreat was phenomenal for our wedding. Rich was very accomodating in preparation of the wedding. My friends are still complementing the saxophone during cocktail hour & the setlist. The dance floor was full for the entire reception - the entire band was fun with a mix of classics, motown, and current pop. The only issue was that we have an entire cake left over because no one would leave the dance floor to eat it!

If you are looking for a band for your wedding or event, stop looking now. It’s The Retreat! They absolutely knocked it out of the park for our wedding. They kept the dance floor FULL all night and people are STILL talking about them! The chemistry between them all is so much fun and they are SO talented. I will recommend them for the rest of my life! Throughout the entire night, they just kept whipping out the talent. We were so impressed. They were so professional and kind, helping the entire night to flow seamlessly! They helped to make our night so much fun and unforgettable. I’m serious, this is your band, stop searching for anyone else!

Honestly we could not have asked for a better band! Not only did they absolutely crush the ceremony but they played Sax at our cocktail hour and had a guitar duet for our ceremony. They were all amazing! On top of all that they handled all of the AV equipment and it sounded and looked fantastic. I found myself at points throughout the night thinking that the band's version of the song was better than the original. They were always super professional and responsive as well as easy to work with. Could not have asked for a better experience!

We have gotten more compliments on our wedding band than anything! They did an INCREDIBLE job! Kept everyone on the dance floor all night long, including my husbands 83 year old grandmother! The band was super easy to work with and had a great attitude! We also had Rich do the Sax solo for our cocktail hour, it was a HIT! I would recommend this band to anyone looking!

I highly recommend booking The Retreat! They played at my wedding reception and did an amazing job. We received so many compliments from our guests on how lively and fun the band was. The crowd was up dancing the whole night! The female vocalist is insanely good and the saxophone during the plated dinner set the mood perfectly! Rich, the band lead, was so accommodating and did a fantastic job MC'ing the night. Booking The Retreat is one wedding decision that you absolutely won't regret!

The Retreat played at our wedding this past Saturday and they absolutely made our night the best night!! Our guests CANNOT STOP TALKING ABOUT HOW AMAZING THEY WERE!! Between the great range of songs they play, their amazing instrumental and vocal skills, not to mention the best saxophone player during our dinner for our evening music, we are obsessed with this band! I cannot say more amazing things about this band! Definitely the best decision we could have made! The Retreat did a fantastic job! They went above and beyond our expectations! We requested the band go from a slow song right into a fast song for the father daughter dance for a choreographed routine and they did an awesome job with it! All night they had people dancing and all of our guests have been raving about them! I highly recommend The Retreat!

The Retreat were simply fabulous. From beginning to end everyone at our wedding was out of the dance floor and we received many, many compliments from our guests about the band, both the night of and in the days that followed. The Retreat were also very accommodating when the bride needed to use their designated space to have her dress bustled. They did an amazing job learning our first dance song and made it special for us. Communication leading up to and on the day of was exactly what we needed. We HIGHLY recommend The Retreat to any couple preparing for their wedding.

The Retreat kept the dance floor energized and fun at out wedding reception. They made our special night the most memorable and fun-filled experience I could have imagined. Due to some delays after the ceremony we started dancing at the reception a little later than planned, so The Retreat never even took their break! They played the entire time to ensure we got in as much dancing as possible. I highly recommend them if you are looking to keep the dance floor alive and fun!

I heard The Retreat Band play at a wedding the year before I got married and knew that I wanted them to play at my wedding. They are all exceptional musicians and singers and are able to play a wide array of music. They played during my wedding ceremony, during the cocktail hour, and during my reception. They are very experienced and seemed to truly enjoy performing with each other! I highly recommend having The Retreat play at your wedding! The people at Sam Hill Entertainment were so easy to work with and were great at communicating the necessary information in emails!

The Retreat made our reception! We had the band play through out the wedding (ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception) and they were flawless every step of the way. All of our guests raved about how amazing the band was! They accommodated all our request and were a pleasure to work with. The band was awesome! The music was a great mix of songs and kept people on the dance floor until the reception ended. We also had two band members play for our outside ceremony which was excellent as well. The band was very accommodating and everything turned out better than we could have imagined. The Retreat is such a great wedding band. They are a very talented group of musicians and know how to get guests on the dance floor. We thought it would be nice to have them play during dinner, they were so good guests were getting up to dance instead of sitting down to eat their food! They played all the right songs to keep every age range engaged and entertained. They let myself and the groom get up on stage for a song and had all the guests sing and dance with us which was really cool. Their encore song is really fun too- they do this awesome mash up of all of these songs we grew up with. The perfect end to the night. Highly recommended and super easy to work with.

We just had The Retreat play for our wedding, and they blew us away. I had guests coming up to me throughout the night commenting on how good the band was. For 4 straight hours they had people out on the dance floor, even the family members I thought would never venture near one. I felt like they played the perfect balance of music and energy throughout the evening. Rich and all the band members were fantastic to work with, and got to chat with them a few times before the event. Very professional, and made everything easy, which while planning a wedding, is a huge benefit. They also MC'd the event perfectly, and did beautiful renditions of the custom requests we'd made.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Better in person than their videos. Hassle-free, easy to work with, flexible, and gave us everything we wanted! Everyone loved them. Still talking about them! Our friends are trying to get them to just come to a party!

I cannot stress enough how outstanding The Retreat was for our wedding. They totally rocked, and a lot of our guests complimented us on how great the band was. The Retreat not only rocked the reception (a great mix of classic rock, country and modern rock, with a few mash-ups thrown in for good measure), but also played beautiful ambiance music during the dinner (the saxophone totally set the tone for the night). They also DJ'ed during their breaks, playing high energy music to keep the party going and also responding to requests as they came up. Obviously, wedding planning can be hectic, but The Retreat and Sam Hill were both responsive, kind, and professional in the correspondences we had before the wedding. That was a huge help and let my wife and I be in the moment and focus on any last minute issues that came up. Our one concern looking at the demos online was that they while they are musically gifted, they might not be high energy enough for the reception. We could not have been more wrong, as they absolutely had enough energy to keep the dance floor full throughout the night. I highly recommend The Retreat for anyone else looking to have a great time at their reception.

We got some many compliments on our wedding band! We used the Retreat and they were one of the highlights of the reception. Sam Hill was easy to work with, very professional and responsive. A month or so before the wedding they sent us a questionnaire about what songs we wanted and how the reception would flow. They did a great job making sure everything happened just the way we wanted it to. We were very impressed with their talent and ability to keep the party going all night long!

My Daughter and her fiance wanted a band that was fun and created a vibe that would keep everyone on the dance floor and that is what they did. They can play mellow cocktail hour music as well and any type of dance music. We had a last minute surprise vocalist and the band was very accommodating and helped us create a very special moment for the bride and groom.

They were great to work with!! Kept the crowd alive! Always had people on the dance floor. Cool acoustic music during cocktail hour too. Would recommend to anyone who wanted a mix between old and new music. They rocked!

The retreat was our most loved vendor by far :) We couldn't ask for anything better! Their fun energy was GREAT! We danced all night long and had a blast! Most loved vendor by all guest too! Not to mention they were all so kind as people :) i would recommend them to anyone!

I couldn't have asked for a better band! They played the perfect blend of music, and most importantly the talent of every member is extraordinary. Everyone danced, and everyone complimented the band. Rich was wonderful to work with and accommodating to all my requests. You would not be disappointed with this band, a true treasure.

Rich Gunderlock, member of this band, played the saxphone at our ceremony. He was fantastic! We absolutely loved him. Many of our guest wanted to know if he had a cd or if played at any venues around town where they could hear him play.

The Retreat made our wedding reception a night to remember. We had so much fun! The band had a really diverse playlist, learned additional songs for us, and did an amazing job of choosing songs that kept the dance floor packed all night long! My husband swears he has never seen so much dancing at a wedding. Our guests really had such a wonderful time and we owe it to The Retreat. They were so great to work with and we couldn’t have asked for a better wedding day!
