We first saw the Rooftop at Manny Cantor Center when we started planning our wedding in late 2019. We were immediately taken with the space—the two walls of windows make it quite beautiful, and the balcony is a huge draw (not to mention the location). Because of the pandemic, we had to postpone our wedding (twice), and MCC was very accommodating of our rescheduling. When we resumed planning our event, though, our contact at MCC no longer worked there, and they didn’t seem to have a full-time replacement. This made it difficult—there was never a single, dedicated person to help guide us, and MCC was often slow and disorganized about answering questions or helping us figure out what was needed. We don’t fault any single person at MCC, and obviously the pandemic has made their job harder, but dealing with them was overall a stressful process. Fortunately, the space did work well and look beautiful in the end.
We just had our wedding reception at the Rooftop at MCC, and it was a dream! Amy and her staff were so helpful, even with the multiple walkthroughs we scheduled. The flexibility to bring in your own caterers, rentals, DJ, etc was great too. We had about 120 guests and the room was perfectly sized for that - you could probably get maybe another 20-30 people at tables and it wouldn't feel cramped. The transition of the room from daytime to nighttime is so dramatic due to the floor to ceiling windows. Guests raved about the roof deck and the views, and when the sun went down the place took on a whole new look! There are a few restrictions due to where they are located (no amplification on the roof deck, etc) but they didn't hinder our great time!
We had the best wedding at MCC! When we were searching for wedding venues in the city, I kept coming back to MCC (we had friends get married there earlier that year so we knew how great it could be). Floor to ceiling windows, great views of the Lower East Side, and an expansive outdoor terrace...anything like that in the city (or in other boroughs) was easily 2-3x the cost. Many venues also shut down around 10-11pm, so we were also happy to know we could have our wedding until midnight. Knowing that MCC's entire mission is to serve its community also made choosing it a no brainer.
From the beginning, Amy (the rental coordinator) was responsive and easy to work with. We never felt like she was a salesman or treating our wedding like a business transaction. It felt like she was just as committed as we were to making our wedding successful and executing our vision.
MCC does not have any contracted vendors, so we did bring everything in ourselves which is what we wanted anyways. It was more work but we were then able to have a wedding with the food, music, and decorations we wanted. We were able to have dimsum from a local spot during cocktail hour and a late night pizza delivery for the partiers on the dancefloor.
Day of, we had a tremendous staff helping us make sure everything ran smoothly. Our day of coordinator said the MCC staff was amazing and helpful. Everyone we've encountered at MCC is warm, friendly, and genuine. Amy and MCC really worked with us to make sure we were able to pull of the wedding of our dreams, and truly, it was.
We've had many people tell us how much they loved our wedding and the MCC was integral in helping created the fun, love-filled environment we wanted. Major plus: we got lots of grateful hugs from our fellow New Yorker friends saying nothing is better than being able to just hop in the subway to a wedding!
The Manny Cantor Center was a dream to work with: professional, organized, and very communicative. They made themselves available for our numerous walkthroughs with vendors and had creative ideas for how we could use the space.
The space itself is lovely with big windows, gorgeous skyline views, and an outdoor roof deck. We were able to make it really feel like our own and put our personal stamp on the day.
The Manny Cantor Center was the first place we looked at when we started the venue search and we thought, "It can't be this easy; how is it we found our venue on the first try?" We looked at other spaces but kept coming back to MCC as it had everything we wanted and we knew we'd have an amazing experience there. I truly can't recommend it highly enough!
We were thrilled with the spacious room and beautiful views of the historical neighborhood. Our special moment felt like we were at the center of this magical city. Amy and her staff were very thoughtful and attentive throughout the planning and helped make the evening effortless and worry free. The MCC allowed us to work with vendors of our choice which made the experience more personal. A gem in the Lower East Side!
