The pulled it off, and I have several friends who have had excellent experiences - mine was okay at best.
My family and I are very particular with music and we researched several bands before selecting The Root Doctors with East Coast Entertai...nment. The ECE Agent was very communicative up until right before the wedding, I made it clear from day 1 that my sister would be singing our first dance song and what that song was, I spent a good amount of time completing the requested questionnaire for the band and included all details/favorite songs. When I hadn't heard from anyone in months and we were about 6 weeks out, I checked-in to make sure they were comfortable with accommodating the song choices and see if they needed to run through with my sister or anything additional from me. The ECE Agent resonded and made it clear that, at that point, the band Manager should be our point of contact. The manager was EXTREMELY difficult to get a hold of, I made sure to call early evening, his preferred time since he had another full time job, and he acted annoyed by me even though I gave 3 days between communications from hearing anything. He had no idea about my sister singing our first dance song, had me send additional youtube videos of the father/daughter and mother/son dances and turns out the band knew none of them - easy stuff, Van Morrison, James Taylor, Elvis. All artists they had on their page. My guests loved the band but they did a few things I asked them not to, and for $6,000 they should have respected. They played line dances, which my husband and I are not fans of. Additionally, my grandfather requested a dance at one point, he is 94 and we thought he would be in a wheelchair, and they could pick any song for us that was slow - they picked my, now husband's, first dance song with his first wife which they were told not to play under any circumstance (who wants to hear that on their wedding night?).
It's funny now, and it worked out, they redeemed themselves with playing an exit song that we requested via recording but the band pre-wedding was a source of 1 out of 2 of the only stressors I had in the month leading up to the day so there is a little bit of a sour taste.
