The Rosewood Ensemble

We hired to Rosewood Ensemble (4-piece string quartet) to play at our daughter's wedding ceremony and the cocktail hour that immediately followed. They were fabulous and we are so happy we hired them! The music was beautiful - definitely added an element of elegance to the event - and the musicians were professional, prompt and easy to work with. They have a wide-ranging repertoire including my daughter's song selections. Dee was easy to work with and everything went off without a hitch on wedding day (despite some worries with some rain early in the day and an outdoor ceremony). We received many compliments from our guests and would definitely recommend The Rosewood Ensemble to others planning a wedding (or other big event)!

The musicians were wonderful and did their job very well! They showed up and immediately knew what they were supposed to do. However Dee, who manages the musicians, was hard to work with at times. I communicated with her via email and she was not always pleasant in our communications. She also did not communicate up front when we hired Rosewood that any additional songs the musicians would have to learn would cost more. We knew we would have to purchase any of the music they didn’t have, but were not told the musicians would also need to be paid more. We also had no way to know what songs they already knew and Dee would not provide a list. Additionally, I asked if we could hear recordings of the musicians playing the songs we requested for the wedding, and Dee said if she were to ask the musicians to send a recording over of our songs, she would have to charge extra for that as well. We basically ended up having to just trust the music would sound good. Thankfully, the musicians sounded absolutely incredible. I would recommend the musicians to anyone, but I would not recommend working with Dee.

Received so compliments for their music during the wedding ceremony. They are great with communicating and very thorough with planning. It’s nice to know you have professionals and don’t have to worry. So talented and professional. Grateful to have them be a part of our day.

There no words fir how amazing Rosewood Ensemble was! From the moment we contacted them to the last song . just impeccable. We also had a trumpet player, Mary from Clarion Brass and a cantor Scott Kennebeck whom Dee from Rosewood suggested and was amazing as well. We have used the Rosewood Ensemble at our company's Christmas party for 4 years. They never fail to impress us all! The range of songs they are able to perform is incredible. We typically ask for classical pieces tied in with Christmas/Holiday favorites and they knock it out of the park. We have utilized a string trio and each year have different musicians, but never has anyone been less that amazing! We have also had their pianists come in to play and they've been stellar too! I cannot thank the Rosewood Ensemble enough for how wonderful they make our parties. Their beautiful music elevates any affair to a memorable event! If I were planning a wedding - I would ONLY hire this group because of how professional they are, and how wonderfully they play! We cannot recommend the Rosewood Ensemble enough! We had them for our ceremony and cocktail hour music and they were amazing! I loved that they were able to play both classic and contemporary music. The violin and cello duo was perfect and all of our guests commented on how great they were. I also found them very easy to work with from a planning perspective. 10/10 would work with them again!

Dee was amazing to work with and the music, the music, was beautiful, it filled the space and made the wedding memorable.

I'm not usually one to write reviews, however, I felt by not saying something I was doing other brides a disservice. The Rosewood Ensemble exhibited poor communication and an extreme lack of professionalism in management. The manager, Dee, was unresponsive to emails and very unprofessional in the emails she did send. During our correspondence, I had to send a follow-up email to her after waiting 2 weeks for a response. When she responded, she repeated the same questions and she did not appear to have taken the time to look through the venue information that I had sent her. We were not treated at all like valued customers, instead I felt like I was trying to appease her. We ran into a misunderstanding and she was unwilling to work with me to find a solution. I offered multiple times to discuss the problem over the phone or zoom to resolve the situation. She was unwilling to compromise or discuss the issue with me further and ultimately decided not to work with us. The only positive thing I have to say about this group is that we were refunded our money. Overall, the lack of professionalism was shocking considering all of the reviews and recommendations for this group. I have already booked all of my other vendors who have been AMAZING to work with and I would NOT recommend working with this group.

We were lucky enough to have the Rosewood Ensemble play at our late October wedding. Dee made the process easy as she is extremely responsive and helped walk us through the music selection process. We talked through various scenarios based on weather and she respected our caution around COVID. The group was very amenable to playing masked, outside, with heaters near by. Their music made the the day so special and would absolutely work with them again.

We worked with Dee at the Rosewood Ensemble for our July 25th wedding and are so happy we did. Like many 2020 couples, our plans went through many changes and downsizes. It was important to us to proceed with our plans to have a pianist, violinist, and soloist even as we downsized to only 20 guests. When so much was not how we had originally envisioned, it was so beautiful and meaningful to walk down the aisle to Canon in D the way I had always dreamed. Dee is patient, kind, and passionate about music. She talked through my questions and was always willing to lend advice. I can't recommend her services more highly. We are so grateful she and her team were a part of our day.

We have nothing but good things to say about Dee and the rest of the Rosewood Ensemble. We ended up with a quartet plus a harpist, and so glad we did. Dee was responsive with communication back and forth from the beginning, from e-mails to phone calls and everything in between. We ended up with lots of changes leading up to the day, because of the pandemic, and they were on board with everything along the way. We had them learn our first dance song, which only enhanced the whole experience that live music brought to our day. Would book them a thousand times over if we could!

Dee is very talented and knowledgeable. She, along with her musicians and cantor, performed beautifully at the ceremony. Her music was the perfect complement to the Church service, was very reverential and brought great joy to us and the congregants.

While they might not have the lowest price, we felt that our money was very well spent. Their performance at the wedding was flawless. A few guests mentioned that the quartet was one of the major highlights of the evening. Working with The Rosewood Ensemble is pleasant. We had a very non-traditional format for our wedding, and while we could tell that they had certain assumptions on what a wedding may look like (in all fairness, almost the entire wedding industry does), The Rosewood Ensemble was very accomodating. This quartet set a beautiful mood for the ceremony with their superb music. The quality of the classical pieces at the ceremony was outstanding and for cocktails they played more contemporary music beautifully. They were flexible, congenial and dependable and I can't say enough about how happy I was that they were part of my daughter's wedding. I will definitely be booking them for my second daughter's wedding when the time comes.

For our daughter’s wedding we contracted the Rosewood Ensemble for the arrival of guests, ceremony, and reception. We were quite disappointed with the quartet overall. Performance of the musicians did not live up to the standards that the principal had claimed. The biggest disappointment was the reception. The venue offers a beautiful rooftop terrace and also amazing indoor space. For the warm weather the bridal couple and practically all guests went indoors after the ceremony. The Rosewood quartet did not see any reason to move indoors, but stayed outdoors. Instead of entertaining the wedding party indoors, they performed on the practically empty rooftop terrace. Almost all guests missed the music. When I complained to the owner after the wedding, she promised a follow-up with the musicians. I never heard back from her. We would not recommend the Rosewood Ensemble.

They listened to what I had to say and helped me decide what type of ensemble would be a good fit for my event. I called one or two days before the event and they made a special effort to satisfy my needs. The musicians were on time, properly dressed, and comported themselves with an air of professionalism. Just two hours before the event we needed to adjust the start and end time, and they accommodated us. I am not qualified to critique the artistic quality of their performance, but my guests were impressed. I would definitely contract them again.

The Rosewood Ensemble performed SPECTACULARLY for my daughter's wedding! They were professional, highly skilled, flexible, conscientious, and most helpful. When a traffic snarl delayed the arrival of many guests, the ensemble took it in stride and happily extended the prelude period. They even took the time to rehearse and perform a piece of music that I composed for the occasion. Beyond beautiful and perfect for our wedding Mass. If you're getting married in the Catholic Church, outside of hoping that the regular Sunday musicians are willing to do a wedding, getting musicians that know all the Mass parts, what to do a what times, etc. can be difficult. It was so great knowing that Rosewood not only offered a beautiful string quartet, but they also offer handling a canter for you if you wish. Absolutely beautiful, would highly recommend!

Music was one of the most important things for me in planning my wedding. Having played violin in many weddings myself, I knew I would be picky. We chose to have a quartet and a trumpet for our ceremony. They were incredible. They worked seamlessly with the organist at our church and played several pieces that were off of their repertoire. We were taking photos outside the church when I first heard the group warming up. Hearing them for the first time was so moving. I knew I had picked the right people. I decided a few weeks before my wedding that I wanted a violinist to play during our ceremony (literally 2-3 weeks before). I was referred to The Rosewood Ensemble and am so happy that I was. Dee Sparks was so easy to work with and made sure everything was all squared away & perfect for the big day. Once I signed the contract, she took care of coordinating with the church music coordinator and I could trust that everything would go seamlessly. Manuela from the Rosewood Ensemble was our violinist and she did an incredible job. We hired a vocalist as well and although Manuela and him had never met and with only an hour of practice before the wedding, together, they pulled off a beautiful ceremony. I HIGHLY recommend this group!

First impressions are critical. You get one chance to “wow” someone or a group of people and get their attention. Most times, there are no do-overs. When it comes to a wedding, first impressions are even more important because a couple expects that this will be the most magical day of their lives. My husband and I wanted music to be the first impression for our guests on our wedding day. Music would set the tone for our entire day. Talk about pressure! So, we definitely did our research and interviewed ensembles to play before and during our wedding ceremony at the church. We had only one chance to perfectly “kick off” our special celebration for us and our family and friends. Our homework paid off. In fact, it more than paid off. We had, hands-down, the most talented string quartet help us celebrate the most magical day of our lives. The Rosewood Ensemble started playing at the church a half hour before our ceremony started, so our guests were greeted with exceptionally beautiful and memorable music. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard our guests talk about how lovely the music was and how much it added to the service. Mission accomplished. The first impression on our wedding day “wowed” our guests. On top of their exceptional talent, the leader of the group, Dee Sparks, was wonderful to work with, and that’s an understatement. From the beginning, it was evident she wanted us to have music that meant something to us and reflected who we are as a couple. Thank goodness for her extensive knowledge and understanding of music because my husband and I honestly had no idea where to start when it came to picking songs. Dee would make a number of suggestions, and then help us pick which ones were right for us. She helped make our music unique to us because I didn’t want to do what other couples do. I wanted to be different. Dee was impressively prompt in getting back to us via email or phone, which was especially helpful in the heat of wedding planning when things tend to be stressful. And thank goodness she politely offered to take care of all of the “little things” for us including coordinating with the music director at our church and triple-checking our program to make sure all of the songs and composer’s names were spelled correctly. What a huge help! Not to mention, Dee took the time to coordinate and practice with my sister-in-law because she knew it was very important to us that our family member sing a few songs in our wedding. Needless to say, she always went the extra mile for us without anyone even asking. I would wholeheartedly recommend this ensemble to any bride and groom who want to make the perfect first impression at the start of their wedding…who want to enjoy absolutely beautiful music on their wedding day…and who want to have the most helpful person guide them through the music process during wedding planning. Choosing the Rosewood Ensemble was one of the first wedding-related decisions we made, and we couldn't have been happier with our decision!

I had a very mixed experience with this ensemble. Their music was great and they did a great job playing during my ceremony and cocktail hour. However, the lady I met with was not easy to work with. She was very condescending and outright rude to us at times. When calling to ask a question, she did not know who we were, despite already having booked with them and giving them out deposit. Perhaps they should have another member of the group be the spokesperson for them.

I decided to use the Rosewood String trio for my wedding ceremony and the cocktail hour. Dee was very easy to work with when planning our wedding and coordinating with the other vendors. They did an great job with all the songs they played. I enjoyed the music and I only wish I could have enjoyed their music a bit more during the event, I am looking forward to seeing our wedding video so we can hear it all again! There was some timing conflicts on the day of the wedding and I was happy our event coordinator at Windows on Washington was able to sort it out with the musicians. Married October 24, 2015

Rosewood Ensemble didn't miss a beat! We have used them for a rehearsal dinner before (for my older brother) and used them again for my wedding ceremony and the cocktail hour between the ceremony & reception. They were just perfect. Rosewood ensemble played our ceremony music and they did an absolutely beautiful job!! We had our hearts set on an obscure renaissance piece for our processional and Dee was able to have it beautifully arranged. Dee also provided great feedback regarding what would sound best for the piece (e.g., encouraging us to add a percussionist for that specific piece, which ended up making a huge difference). We live in DC, so communication was sometimes a little difficult, but email and the phone seemed to work well to get the details sorted out. Ask anyone in St. Louis and they will tell you that Rosewood Ensemble is without a doubt, the best and most well-respected string quartet in the area. We were delighted with our ceremony music and so glad we picked Rosewood Ensemble!

I had the Rosewood Ensemble learn several unique songs (by Phish) for our ceremony. They came out wonderfully. So easy to work with and so talented. Can't recommend them highly enough!

The Rosewood Ensemble was the best decision we made in the 15 month process of planning a wedding. Unlike a booming or thin sounding organ, The Rosewood Ensemble created an elegant and sophisticated atmosphere through their musical talents. They were recommended by a friend but, without checking, I thought they were out of our price range. When my future son-in-law heard the Rosewood Ensemble he stated: "I don't care who plays at the Wedding as long as we have THAT string quartet. It was really cool." Not only was their price reasonable, they provided the soloist who was familiar with all of our selections. Their performance before the ceremony was beautiful and calming to everyone who heard it, including the Bride. And their repertoire is almost unlimited with both classical and modern pieces. I would DEFINITELY recommend them to other Brides and I would use them again at my next event. Bravo!! And Thank You to the Rosewood Ensemble.

The Rosewood Ensemble was an exceptional quartet of violinists at my daughter's Catholic wedding. They worked diligently with my daughter, church music director and myself to ensure that the music selections for the prelude prior to the mass provided a beautiful musical interlude for our guests. They played expertly throughout the mass complimenting the Cantor and selected songs. The richness of their string ensemble provided very special and memorable music for my daughter's wedding. I would highly recommend The Rosewood Ensemble for your special occasion!!!

The Rosewood Ensemble performed at my wedding ceremony and were absolutely amazing! They are extremely talented and their music is beautiful. It really set a wonderful mood for our guests by playing before, during, and after our wedding ceremony. They went above and beyond helping me to pick out my processional and recessional music as well as recommending a soloist for us to use during our ceremony who was also very talented. They also provide a CD with demos so you can really hear what they will be like in person. I highly recommend them!

Rosewood Ensemble played for my daughters wedding. They were professional and friendly. The music was beautiful. They provided a CD of music clips that helped my daughter choose her selections. I would highly recommend them.

I had a quartet from Rosewood Ensemble play at my wedding and they did an incredible job! They provided just the right ambience for our wedding and were true professionals about our less-than-orthodox musical choices! They were flexible even when they had to change where they were sitting at the last minute and agreed to play along with the hymns we sang in the service. Dee was wonderful to work with before the wedding too! She sat us down and walked through the choices, giving professional advice as to how to make our music flow better and listening to all of our requests. She was also very quick to respond to my emails and a pleasure to meet with. All in all a fabulous group, and if you have the money for live musicians at your event, Rosewood Ensemble would be a great place to spend it!

The Rosewood Ensemble was wonderful. Dee helped guide us through our musical selections for the ceremony based on what we liked and what selections went well together. We hired the string quartet. They were professional, sounded beautiful, and we got many compliments on the ceremony music. Highly recommend!

The Rosewood Ensemble played ceremony music during our Nov 2014 wedding and did a fabulous job. We had the string quartet along with an organist and a vocalist. The quartet played music for 30 minutes before our ceremony, and then during the ceremony as well, the vocalist sang a special song during our Unity ceremony, and the organist played the Bridal March as I walked down the aisle with my dad. Many of our guests complimented on the beautiful music. Dee was wonderful to work with from day 1! She made sure she understood exactly what we wanted for our ceremony and definitely delivered! She even remained very patient with me as we made several changes and additions throughout our planning process. If you want beautiful music, professional service, and an overall great experience, you will love Rosewood! :)
