The Ruins at Sassafras is not just a breathtakingly beautiful wedding venue, it is an experience shaped by a truly extraordinary team. My husband and I celebrated our entire weddin...
g weekend here, including our Welcome Party at The Ruins, Ceremony at Deere Pond, Cocktail Hour on the Moroccan Terrace and Bar, Reception in the Chair Factory, and Afterparty back on the Moroccan Terrace. Our immediate family also stayed on site at the Stonehouse and Caretakers Cottage, which made the weekend feel intimate, immersive, and unforgettable.
Carol and her team pour their heart and soul into every celebration. From the moment we began planning, it was clear how deeply invested they are in making your day perfect. The stunning landscaping, thoughtful flow of each space, and impeccable guest experience reflected their vision and attention to detail at every turn. Dee, the bar manager, ran an exceptional operation: no lines, seamless service, and truly delicious specialty cocktails that guests are still talking about.
Overflowing with history and curated with such intention, The Ruins is unlike any place we’ve ever encountered. With sweeping views of the Berkshires and a setting that feels both magical and deeply personal, we feel incredibly lucky to have celebrated such a meaningful weekend here.
We cannot recommend The Ruins at Sassafras highly enough.

The Ruins at Sassafras is an absolutely stunning wedding venue. It’s feels both dramatic and intimate—beautiful stonework, mountain views, and a space that you can truly make your ...
own. Our vision was elegant, natural, traditional, and European-countryside-esque, honoring both of our heritages while staying stateside, and this venue allowed us to bring that to life.
A quick note for future couples: the venue is in an isolated location, which is perfect if you want your wedding to feel secluded and intimate—even with 185 guests, ours did. We had everyone stay in the nearby town of Lenox in the Berkshires (a beautiful but $$$ area), and it worked wonderfully.
Because the Ruins is essentially a breathtaking estate and blank canvas, you do need to plan for full rentals (chairs, linens, tableware, glassware, catering, etc.). It is a big planning process—but Carol and her team are incredibly responsive, hands-on, and genuinely invested in your wedding’s success. Moreover, they don't really limit what vendors you choose (most venues dictate who you go with). It’s a family-run business, and you feel that - Carol even personally drove one of our guests back to the hotel when she wasn’t feeling well.
For us, one of the biggest selling points was the ability to stay onsite in the beautifully renovated Stone House and Cottage House. Eighteen members of our wedding party stayed with us, which eased logistics, reduced stress, and gave us so much more time together over the weekend.
We absolutely loved having our wedding at The Ruins at Sassafras Museum.

The Ruins at Sassafras was an INCREDIBLE wedding venue!! 10/10 would highly recommend! We could not have been happier with how our wedding weekend went. First of all, the venue is ...
STUNNING, with so many amazing places to take pictures all over the property. It was also so much fun to have our wedding party stay over the whole weekend on the property with us. It was really special having everyone stay over together, and the house where you sleep is gorgeous, spacious, very clean, and has a beautiful back patio with amazing mountain views where we did our morning after brunch. Another special thing about the venue was the stone ruins area where we held our after-party. We had the venue set up fire pits and votive candles in the stone walls, and it was a really fun and beautiful way to end the night. In addition, the chair factory is perfect for a reception (we had ~160 people) with two beautiful bars (one upstairs and one downstairs) and plenty of room for dancing. Carol, the owner of the venue, made us feel right at home and so welcomed and taken care of the entire weekend. Everything was top notch at the venue, and the surrounding area is truly breathtaking. We had multiple wedding guests tell us it was the most beautiful wedding venue they had ever been to. And since we had the venue for the entire weekend we had total freedom and so many choices of where to do our ceremony (we did it at Deere Pond at golden hour in front of the pond and willow trees - beautiful!), reception, first look, etc. I can't rave about it enough, and we could not recommend this venue more, especially to couples looking for a venue that's elegant and surrounded by natural beauty. We are so thrilled we chose it for our wedding weekend!

s we stepped foot on the property and began our venue tour. The property offers so many options for events and I heard from so many guests how awed they were by their surroundings. Carol and her team were wonderful. I feel incredibly lucky that we got to get married in such a special place that Carol and Jerome have put so much thought, love, and care into restoring. The houses on the property are some of the most beautifully decorated homes I've been in. It was so convenient to get to stay on the property and soak up every second of the weekend. Dee, the bar manager, was also great to work with. Our drinks throughout the weekend were fantastic and the service was amazing. I'm already excited about visiting and reliving our beautiful weekend.

The Ruins at Sassafras is such a special place and we feel so lucky that we were able to get married here. The property is beautiful beyond imagination – from the landscaping to al...
l of the decorations inside the house, every little detail has been considered with love and care. There are so many spaces dotted across the property and we loved wandering around over the weekend.
But, above all, the owners Carol and Jerome are they heart and soul of Sassafras. Their love and personality shines through every part of the property and the transformation they've done on the property is inspiring. While we loved the property, it was Carol's electric personality and humor on the initial tour that led to us choosing Sassafras.

m everyone involved. Hosting our entire wedding party on site made the experience feel connected and memorable, like our own little sanctuary tucked away in the most beautiful setting.
The service was truly exceptional. Every detail, every moment, felt handled with intention and care. Our wedding coordinator, Lara, was an absolute dream. She showed up organized, calm, and completely in tune with our vision. She made the entire process seamless and joyful, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the celebration while she took care of the details. She made sure us as the couple were taken care of, but also parents, wedding party, and any guests that looked like they needed help!
We were also so touched by the kindness and generosity of the owners, Carol and Gerome. It’s rare to feel such genuine hospitality, and it made a lasting impression on us and our guests. You could tell this place is run with love, and it shows in every interaction, every corner of the property, and every thoughtful gesture.
We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect place to begin the next chapter of our lives. The Ruins at Sassafras gave us a weekend we’ll never forget, and we’ll be forever grateful for the love, beauty, and care they wrapped around us.

ces of spaces for ceremonies and events. We and our guests were thrilled to be here for the weekend, and no one wanted to leave.
As a newer venue, there are still things that Sassafras is working to implement, but Carol and Jerome listened to our feedback and genuinely wanted to continue to improve the venue for future guests. I think that is a rare quality; it’s incredible and meaningful that they care so much about the guest experience.
Our wedding day itself had some major mishaps from other vendors, but Carol and the venue saved the weekend, not just with their willingness to help at every stage, but with proactive assistance when they saw they could make things easier for us.
Carol is now a part of our family (whether she likes it or not!) and I am so grateful for all that she did for us during our wedding weekend. Our guests are still talking about Sassafras 3 weeks later.

Sassafras is, in a word, magical. We got married there on July 5, 2025, with 46 guests and stayed Thursday through Sunday — and still didn’t want to leave. The setting is beyond st...
unning (rolling hills, wildflowers, a beautiful stone terrace, a peaceful pond), and the layout of the property flows perfectly, offering so many unique and meaningful spots for each part of the day. It was a dream to be able to fully customize the weekend while still feeling guided and supported.
Carol and Jerome have poured an incredible amount of love and care into the venue. It shows in every detail — from beautiful salvaged Shaker touches to practical thoughtfulness, like prepping the ceremony space so it wouldn’t be buggy! Carol was responsive, warm, and so easy to talk to. We felt completely taken care of, and she recommended some amazing vendors.
And Lara Burek, Sassafras’s on-site coordinator, is an absolute gem. Her calm, detailed approach helped make the day seamless and low-stress for everyone. We felt totally present and able to enjoy each moment.
We’re still reliving the weekend in our minds — and hearing from guests that it was the most beautiful wedding they’ve ever attended. Sassafras is a place full of warmth, intention, history, and heart. We would choose it again in a heartbeat.

Choosing The Ruins at Sassafrass as our wedding venue was a decision that exceeded our wildest dreams. I could write pages about all the amazing things that this venue boasts, but ...
I will highlight the points that future brides should understand when they go to book The Ruins. Being a DIY bride, the Ruins at Sassafrass provided the perfect backdrop to bring my Pinterest dreams to life. The rustic charm and natural beauty of the venue complemented my vision perfectly, creating a magical setting for our day. The flexibility of the space allowed me to add personal touches, turning it into a unique and unforgettable experience. Even in late October the landscape of the mountains were breathtaking; our guests are still talking about how mesmerizing the views were.
What makes our wedding story even more special is that we chose The Ruins before it was even finished. It was a leap of faith based on the vision and promises from Carol, the owner. When we did our initial tour, the venue was still in its beginning stages of completion; even then we were captivated by the potential and the unique charm it promised. What sealed the deal for us, however, was Carol's infectious enthusiasm, passion, and stylistic eye. Her vision and commitment assured us that the venue would be the perfect location for our special day, and it absolutely was! Being part of the journey from the early stages allowed us to witness the Ruins’ transformation, and it added an extra layer of excitement to our wedding planning. Despite the Ruins’ newness and inevitable growing pains, Carol, Lara (the on site coordinator), Jerome (Carol’s partner in life and business), and the rest of the team made sure our decision to trust them from the beginning was more than worthwhile.
Being a newer venue, Carol and the team were still in the process of ironing out a few kinks. Despite some last minute hiccups, what truly stood out was Carol, Jerome, and Lara’s commitment to addressing these challenges in real-time. Their proactive approach and dedication to ensuring our day was perfect more than made up for any set backs in the planning process. This was a HUGE relief when planning such a momentous event. On our actual wedding day, when challenges arose with our day-of coordinator (that we hired separately and was not affiliated with The Ruins), Lara stepped in as our saving grace. Her quick thinking, attention to detail, and unwavering professionalism turned what could have been a stressful situation into a seamless and unforgettable celebration. Her ability to coordinate with our vendors and recalibrate the timeline on the spot showcased her experience and dedication. Without Lara's intervention, the day could have taken a different turn, and we are immensely grateful for her expertise and her willingness to step up and save the day. Her creative touch also helped transform the venue into a dreamlike setting, exceeding our expectations. Lara's dedication and experience truly showcased the exceptional team at The Ruins at Sassafrass, if you get the chance you should ABSOLUTELY hire Lara to help plan your event. The Ruins at Sassafrass, with its evolving charm and an outstanding team led by Carol, Jerome and Lara, made our wedding day an absolute masterpiece. We are forever grateful for their passion, dedication, and the magical memories they helped us create. If you're looking for a team that truly cares about your special day, look no further than The Ruins at Sassafrass.

anuary 2023 and we knew from the moment we stepped foot on the property that it would be where we got married. It made it all the more special to be able to watch the Chair Factor be transformed into what it is today!
We had our rehearsal dinner on the property, and stayed there for the weekend. Carol and her team made sure we were well taken care of, and were incredibly accommodating! Our guests have nothing but compliments.
We can't speak more highly of Carol, Jerome, and the team at The Ruins and how they made made a vision, reality!

My husband and I got married here in September of 2023. Our wedding was ~100 people and the whole wedding party stayed on the property. We cannot say enough good things about this ...
spot and the owners. From the first day we met Carol (the owner) we fell in love with not only the venue but her as well. It was honestly a hard time picking a spot for the ceremony because there are so many beautiful options. The stone house, cottage, and smoke house are absolutely stunning. The work she has put into remodeling does not go unnoticed and the way she honors The Shakers in each room is so beautiful. She was a delight communicating with throughout the wedding planning process and her event coordinator, Lara, was just as lovely to communicate with. We will definitely be back!
