The Sapp House is a historic home and wedding venue located in Panama City, FL. This antique home is the reflection of decades of community efforts to preserve this slice of history. Magnolias and oak trees dot the grounds while the timeless architecture can complement a variety of wedding themes. Lovingly restored by many hands, this setting provides a memorable backdrop for weddings and other related events. Constructed in 1916, The Sapp House is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was built by Mr. and Mrs. Sapp. Mr. Sapp was a judge, prosecuting attorney, and member of the House of Representatives for two terms. Attorneys from around the area used to meet on the porch for lunch together, where they would enjoy Mrs. Sapp’s popular roast beef sandwiches. The home eventually came in possession of the Bay County Commissioners, who leased it to a non-profit that helped expecting mothers in need. After not renewing their lease, the county commission sought to turn the home and property into a parking lot. Public outcry prevented its destruction, but ultimately the house began to fall apart. Eventually, Panama City Mayor Lauren DeGorge campaigned to purchase the estate and turned it into a historical site. It is now owned and maintained by three families, who have also taken their turn to refurbish this local gem. Couples celebrating at The Sapp House can use both the home and gardens for their event. During a tour of the property, the team can discuss layout possibilities with the soon-to-be-wed pair. In total, up to 320 individuals can gather here for a celebration. Parking is also available nearby. Rental packages are offered for different days of the week and additional hours can be added on to the bundles. Access to a bridal and grooms suite dressing rooms, located on both floors, are provided for the couple’s convenience as well.
