Roger is a family friend and did an amazing job at my wedding. He even got recordings of my husbands vows. #clutch ....He is great!!!!
We had ‘The Scene’ DJ our wedding 2 months ago. We had met with the owner, Roger, a couple of times before the wedding for the basics – discussing songs, mood, etc. He definitely has a party personality which was the type of wedding dance we were going for.
The day of the wedding, Roger called my husband and informed him that he would not be coming to our wedding, but he would be sending a different DJ in his place because of a last-minute scheduling issue. The replacement DJ (I never caught his name) did fairly good with following the planned songs that we had requested when meeting with Roger, but it definitely made me nervous that we had never talked to him directly about some of the timing of things, such as the first dance.
Also, when my husband and I were eating dinner before the dance started, he came over and literally said to us, “The DJ needs to be paid”. My parents were in charge of paying for the DJ so I directed him to them – but it was just very rude and unprofessional to say something like that to the bride and the groom, especially before the dance even starts.
So – long story short, The Scene was reasonably priced and did a pretty good job at picking out songs and making our wedding dance fun. However, they were very unprofessional in a few ways, so if you are looking for professionalism in your wedding vendors, I would look elsewhere.
The Good:
Price.
The Bad:
Showed up later than promised to set up & a backup DJ was sent. NOT the person we interviewed. Not sure what the whole story was, but the original DJ couldn't make it and sent his office manager. No apology or explanation was sent afterwards whatsoever.
The Ugly:
Grand Entrance selection wasn't "on his list" even though it was on the contract. He was rude to the groom and was very bland... Good thing I had my schedule hammered down and ready at a moment's notice because we had to prod him along for all of the events (first dance, bouquet toss, etc) even though the schedule was sent well in advance. Bare minimum interaction with the crowd. Guests were complaining about the boring dance music selection.
The DJ and owner were both extremely nice and understanding. The DJ was having some issues with the equipment.
Good price for a wedding DJ
The Scene came recommended to me. I guess it depends on who you get for the D.J. I had two women who did not interact with the crowd as requested. They simply worked of my list, right then and there, and apparently didn't have a plan at all. Yes, they played the first song and introduced the Cha Cha Slide and one other group dance, but that was it. My guests started leaving early! I had to ask the D.J. to stop because everyone left. I did ask for some sort of refund but because they were there on time and played until I asked them to stop, I wasn't given a refund. I would never recommend this company.
He was so fun to have at our wedding. He talked a little more than we thought he would but he was very funny and played what the crowd wanted to hear. He was a great option to help us stay in budget.
