There is no doubt in the world that this hotel is a stunning venue for upscale weddings. I am thrilled to have had my ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception here. However, with all... the beauty and good that came from the venue, there are also bad qualities.
The BAD
-We had our Rehearsal Dinner at Kitchen West and while the food was okay, the space worked well for us (there is a little-partitioned room that we stuck kids in and it worked out great) and the manager was nice to deal with, I wouldn't suggest having a rehearsal dinner here because of the noise. The hotel has live music about ten feet away from this spot and that mixed with the rest of the restaurant not being closed off from this EXPENSIVE rented space made it damn near impossible to hear the people across from you.
-We were talked into getting a block of rooms for our wedding guests by being told that there was a good chance guests wouldn't be able to book a room without it because the hotel might very well be at capacity. Not only was that untrue, we had many guests book a room while at the reception night of, but the room rates change so drastically that anyone who booked from the block got royally screwed. I understand that the employees have little to no control over room rates but we were DEFINITELY upsold on that and when we're already paying thousands of dollars at this hotel, it felt incredibly cheap of them to mislead us.
-The "honeymoon suite" was a regular room. It was indistinguishable from any other, very basic and small.
-One of the employees/or/managers (not a front desk person,) the person who took care of the room block and reservations was rude and short via email when my mother-in-law was trying to figure out if she could book an actual suite, not a hotel room, as a part of the wedding block. She didn't come across as professional by any means in these emails.
-At the ceremony, the main bartender was rude to one of my guests for absolutely zero reason. He was snarky and at every new drink order for this person would mock what he was ordering. That is absolutely unacceptable. I don't know if he worked straight for the hotel or was hired for the event but either way the hotel is responsible for this man.
THE GOOD
-Emily Kix was our point of contact with the venue for our wedding for over a year and she was a delight to work with. She and I worked alongside each other well, she is a no-nonsense type of person which I love as she was straightforward, eager to help, and efficient.
-The venue was incredible, a very classy location that was everything I could dream of. Each spot that hosted guests was uniquely beautiful. It is a much more expensive option than other hotels and other wedding venues but I believe it was worth the cost.
