The Special Edition Band

John, Brandi, and the rest of the Special Edition Band were an absolute joy to work with. They got back to us with a quote and contract that fit our budget within a day of reaching out to them, and were incredibly communicative. They learned a song for our first dance and did it beautifully, and kept the dance floor alive the whole night! Would absolutely recommend them to other couples.

The Special Edition Band is AMAZING! We loved working with John and his attention to all of the music details! He was easy to work with throughout the process and really kept the party at the highest of heights all night long! 1000% recommend!

The Special Edition Band was 100% awesome. They kept the energy high for our entire 5-hour reception. Some of the band members go into the crowd and play their respective instrument while dancing with the crowd. So much fun! The song selection was excellent as well. "I wanted to go get a drink and take a break, but they kept playing great songs so I had to stay and keep dancing" - Sister of the Groom Friendly people and very accommodating. An absolute pleasure to work with. We would recommend them 10/10 for any event you are having if you want to have the most fun night of your life!

The Special Edition Band was simply fabulous! John Adams was very communicative and responsive to special requests and questions. The singers and musicians are so talented and they did an outstanding job of getting the party started and keeping it going. I can't recommend The Special Edition Band highly enough! We had an absolute blast at our son’s wedding with Special Edition playing at the reception. They came with a 10-piece group, including brass (trumpet & trombone) and a fabulous sax player. Great guitars & vocal talent too. There’s so much variety to their show that they held the crowd (250 guests) captive the whole night (4-hour gig). They provided a mix of pop, country and oldies. They were fun and kept the dance floor crowded from start to finish. Even those that didn’t dance stayed the whole night. Everone loved them. Great Job.. Bravo!

We absolutely LOVED having Special Edition Band play for our wedding! They did an excellent job with playing our special dances songs, a classy dinner set, and they brought the party to the dance floor! They’re a super fun and high-energy group that will make your wedding reception a blast! Super happy with this band for our entertainment!!

We loved having the Special Edition Band play at our wedding! John was incredibly kind and accommodated all of our requests, including learning how to play a specific song for our first dance. We got married in a venue that was a little bit more strict about set up times, and John made sure everything was done on time. They are incredibly talented, and almost everyone I've talked with who was at the wedding has mentioned how amazing the band was. Everyone was up and dancing, even those who typically don't dance at weddings! We also hired them to play jazz music during our cocktail hour, which was a delightful touch to the evening. We can't recommend them enough!

The Special Edition Band was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. Our first dance choreographers had us completely spooked about having our band play our first dance alluding to other couples (with obviously different bands) having trouble with the band playing their song in a manner incorrect to how they practiced. We cut a whole portion out of our first dance song and slowed it down by about 15%, the Special Edition Band did not miss a beat! They played it at the perfect tempo and hit all of the marks. We could not have chosen a more perfect band! We were extremely pleased with the music all day & night long!

The Special Edition Band played for our Dance Club at Robson Ranch in Denton. John was great to work with and the band was awesome. They were a lot of fun and kept everyone on their feet. We look forward to having them again soon and highly recommend them.

We started booking with John not really knowing what size band we wanted/could afford. We ended up with a small trio of musicians that performed for the ceremony and our cocktail hour, both of which were excellent. Even though John didn't end up performing on our day, he helped organize and coordinate the entire thing. He was always very proactive and responsive in helping to make sure we had exactly what we wanted--even if we didn't know it ourselves!

John was easy to work with from the start. We had a string quartet for the ceremony, jazz trio for cocktail hour, and the full band for the reception. All were wonderful! They were so accommodating to our requests and curated a fun atmosphere all night. Everyone loved when they came on the dancefloor with their instruments. We also had them perform our first dance and parent dances- which they did wonderfully. We would definitely recommend to those looking for a wedding band!

We hired the Special Edition Band for my daughter's wedding in December 2021. John was very thorough with communication and organization. The band did an excellent job and made the reception so much fun. Even months afterward we run into guests that compliment the band!

The Special Edition Band was the highlight of our wedding! We actually first saw them playing at a friend's wedding and we knew that we had to have them at ours! From the very beginning of the planning process, John (the band manager) was super responsive and accommodating to our requests. The entire band was fantastic throughout our whole reception and they were the number one thing talked about at our wedding! Every band member was energetic and they even all came down onto the dance floor to interact with guests while playing for a few songs! Our crowd absolutely loved them and we are still receiving complements on them weeks later. The Special Edition band is a must have for your event, they will be the best vendor that you book!

For our wedding, we both agreed that a live band was an absolute must have. The Special Edition Band was everything we could have asked for and more. They learned our special dance songs and played them live, they had a good feel for the vibe of the dance floor and kept everything going. This review is long overdue, but John and the Special Edition Band were phenomenal! We still have friends and family telling us how much fun they had dancing and how great the band was, 6 months later. My uncle had the only complaint, which was “my feet are tired, I need to sit down, but I’m waiting for them to play a song I don’t like and it hasn’t happened yet!”

We saw Special Edition at our friends weddings and we knew they were going to be perfect for our own wedding! After our wedding everyone always says the band was amazing! They also were able to play all the Jewish elements that we wanted for our special day! Highly recommend.

John was so easy to work with and worked well with our other vendors day of to make our day run smoothly without missing a beat! The Special Edition Band is still the talk of our wedding! For months now, we see guests from our wedding who gush over this amazing band. They brought together all of our favorite songs from their song list and blended them with other upbeat, crowd favorites. John Adams is a great communicator who exceeded our expectations and made our top priority for the reception (the music!) phenomenal. I can't recommend Special Edition more. Whatever your wedding budget looks like, if music is a big deal for you, then make them your reception goal. They will blow your guests away and make your wedding day moments better than you could imagine. From our first dance, which they learned beautifully, to our last dance, Special Edition filled our reception with energy, dancing, and memories that we will never forget. We had The Special Edition Band at our wedding in July 2021 and they were awesome! People were having so much fun! They also played at our ceremony and helped out with the AV at our ceremony at the Arboretum. They are willing to learn any song and they learned our first dance song. You will not be disappointed and your guests will have a great time!

We evaluated (via open house performances) 5 other local bands and are truly grateful for selecting The Special Edition Band for my daughter's wedding - a Classical String Quartet for the ceremony, a Jazz Trio for the cocktail hour, and the full 10-piece band for the reception. John Adams worked with us to reschedule the event twice last year due to Covid, and were extremely helpful throughout the planning process. He provided all the guidance we needed to select our preferred pieces for the ceremony and the song selection for the reception. They worked very closely with our Wedding Planner and the venue to plan the logistics. The event went off without a hitch (thanks to the Band's preparation) and our guests, without exception, complimented the band's performance and really enjoyed the event, leaving no space on the dance floor! John- the lead of The Special Edition, was an absolute pleasure to work with! So attentive and personable from scheduling a meet and greet to when they preformed, I didn’t want it to stop!! Then they were hired! And let me tell you I’ve never seen so many people on a dance floor having the best time at a wedding before, book them right now! The Special Edition Band is amazing!! They made our wedding reception truly special! It was a hit and everyone had a blast! They have excellent interactions with the crowd and they are killer musicians. They play every genre that you can think of and sound fantastic. Also, they traveled all the way to our Amarillo wedding and were really easy to work with. They also have excellent customer service and were always willing to answer a question for us or make a quick switch if we needed it. We loved them so much and cannot recommend them enough. Our wedding was greatly effected by COVID so we spent a lot of time working with him trying to sort out the specifics. He held true to everything he said they would do, even when that meant canceling a non-wedding gig to make sure they were available for our date. You and your guests will rave about them for months after the party! The horn section added SO MUCH do music so don’t miss out on booking them!

The Special Edition Band performed at our wedding on 10.03.2020, and I have never met such a fun group that are so incredibly talented.. The two women, omg They were AMAZING!!! They were always so active with the crowd, danced with us, took the time to learn songs and all. This band is hands down one of the best I have ever heard. Also, John was so quick to reply to all emails and helped with everything he could! We made a switch to a song 2 days before, and he made it work. I cannot wait to have another event so I can have them there! Thanks again for making our wedding night so amazing and fun :)

This band was outstanding ! A 10 piece band with Great song selection, great musicians and great vocals. They filled the dance floor. And not so loud that the guests who weren’t dancing couldn’t continue to comfortably talk over the music. Highly recommend ✅

While we were excited to have the full ten-piece Special Edition Band at our wedding, thanks to Covid-19 the whole event became a much more intimate affair. Thankfully, John was willing to work with us as provided a lovely three-piece band for our small reception, and they did an amazing job. Would recommend them to anyone!

The Special Edition Band was a hit at my daughter's wedding! They can do it all - great music during the cocktail hour and dinner, then party music until the end. As a musician myself, I appreciated the professionalism of the group, and the sound was mixed perfectly for our venue. WOW! This band is worth every penny! The group got everyone at our wedding dancing, which I didn't even think was possible! They made great use of the venue itself by popping up in different areas with a guitar or sax solo. They played us out for the send-off which was an awesome touch. I loved working with this band and hope I have another excuse to use them in the future!

Planning the playlist was easy and the band was super supportive of a flash mob song we had planned at the start of the reception. So much talent and such nice folks!!

Working with John for our wedding was a delight! We went to watch Special Edition a couple times before the wedding and enjoyed them so much. On the wedding night they were a huge hit and we loved having members of the band join us on the dance floor. I can't recommend them more, they were a 10 piece fun band and priced fairly! The Special Edition Band played at our wedding reception on April 28, 2018, and I can’t say enough good things about this awesome band! Having them as our wedding band was easily the best decision we made for our entire wedding day. John will go above and beyond to make sure that you are happy and have everything the way you want it. The band is absolutely amazing, and they will have EVERYONE dancing! You can tell that each member loves what they do, and it’s so much fun! A year later, and I still have people tell me all the time that my wedding was the funnest they have ever been to because of this band. The Special Edition Band is 110% worth it and the BEST decision you can make for your wedding or event!

Besides choosing to get married, this was the best decision that we made for our big day. Special Edition invited us out to see them in Grapevine, and we both knew immediately that they were "the one" (band that is). You must get everything you can out of the band (we used all 10 members) because musically, you won't get any better. They are all so talented, and together it makes for a helluva show. John and his team were very accommodating. There was nothing difficult around working through the contract. They made accommodation after accommodation, some of which were suggestions of their own (like a using the horns to follow us out on our sendoff). They learned and modified music to fit reception timelines, and did it without a bit of push back. As for their energy, it was contagious. Combine our lively wedding guest, with the engagement from the lead singers, and there was not an empty dance floor all night. Our guest were even dancing during dinner! They emceed the whole thing, and didn't miss a beat. We've witnessed horror stories of other weddings where bands forgot words, cake cuttings, or even the grooms names! They executed flawlessly, to the point that I never stopped to think of what was next. It was seamless. Finally, the genuine compliments on the good times that were had ALWAYS started with mention of the band. So much so, we've worked on coordinating our friends to see them outside of their event gigs. I can't praise the work they did enough. HIRE THEM.

An absolute blast and incredible to work with - John Adams and The Special Edition Band are the perfect choice for the band at your wedding! We had the opportunity to see them play at a venue in Addison, TX and immediately knew we had found our wedding band. They are energetic, talented, professional, honestly everything that you could want in a live band for your big day! We ended up going with the 12 piece band, as my husband loved the idea of a horn section. Every single musician is insanely talented and can definitely put on a show! This band is amazing! So easy to work with and accommodating and professional! Our wedding was awesome with this band. The Special Edition Band was fantastic and having a live band for our wedding was such an elegant touch, especially the stage presence of a 10 piece band and three members performed for our cocktail hour and we had a three piece set for our ceremony music. But aside from the obvious, which is how great they sounded and performed, I want to say just how great it was working with John. He was always accessible and answered questions my wife and I had during the planning process. We would both HIGHLY recommend this band as they are professional from start to finish.

My husband and I got married just over a month ago at the Fort Worth Club and we are still getting compliments on the band. When we got engaged, I had a list of "must haves" and a band was on the top of my list. I did some research, reached out to John from the band, and was invited to hear them play before we made our decision. After hearing they play at a local bar, we knew we HAD to have them at our wedding. Throughout the whole process, John was wonderful to work with, patient, always available to talk, and quick to respond to emails. The Special Edition Band MADE our wedding night. We had many guests never leave the dance floor except to grab another cocktail. They made our wedding so fun and we are so thankful that we found them. After announcing the last song of the night and performing it, all of our guests starting chanting, "We want more!" The Special Edition Band played one more song and the guests went wild! If you are looking for an amazing wedding band in the DFW area, look no further than the Special Edition Band!!!

To put it simply, we cannot get over how FANTASTIC The Special Edition Band was at our wedding this past Friday. Our guests have not stopped raving about how great the music was and how much fun the band was!! John and the band did ensemble jazz music during the dinner hour, and then switched to party music afterwards. To say they sounded amazing just doesn't seem like enough! Despite very little guidance on musical selections from us, the band read the room like pros and played music that kept people on the dance floor the entire night! When I went up and spontaneously asked one of the band members if they could play a slow song, the band effortlessly glided into one and got every couple in the room out on the floor. When the song was over, they seized the opportunity presented by a crowded dance floor and broke out into the conga! SO much fun!! Around 10:30, John had my coordinator tell me to just give the signal when we were ready for the last song, with stern instruction that there was no rush... and when I did give the signal, the band glided into "Don't Stop Believing" so smoothly I was astounded. The best part though, was when the horns followed my husband and I out for our send off playing "When the Saints Go Marching In." My family is Cajun and I had always dreamed of a wedding in the French Quarter growing up... and somehow the band made it feel like I got that moment!! It was incredibly special. If you're looking for a wedding band who sounds phenomenal, responds to all communications promptly, and who is reasonably priced, look no further than Special Edition. John and his group is simply the best of the best. We would hire them a thousand times over!!

Booking a band from several States away made me a bit anxious. However, with Special Edition there was no need to worry! My interactions with John Adams, band leader, were extremely professional!! John was always prompt to reply to my emails and texts, their contract was straight forward and fair. Because they book their own gigs, I felt we received much more for our money than you normally would using a booking agent. Although I did not meet John until we arrived for the reception, I never had any doubt they would be there and ready to entertain! Unfortunately, I had a previous experience at my daughters wedding when another band failed to show up on time! Argh!!! Special Edition was incredibly entertaining and you could tell that they were professional musicians. We booked the ten piece band and LOVED the Horn section! The night flew by with the dance floor full nonstop from the first dance to the last dance. I highly recommend Special Edition!!
