About this vendor
Hi! We are The Spragues. I am Daniel and my wife is Katherine. We would love to talk about documenting your event so that you and your family can look back on your day for the rest of time, but first let me tell you a little about us. We obsess over coffee. We pine for all different types of delicious food. Speaking of, we love to cook! We endlessly thirst for travel to new places and and to revisit some of our favorites locations in the world. Italy and Australia being some of our favorites. We have an 8 year old daughter who is incredibly strong willed and we love her! Ok, that is probably a good enough introduction, we can talk more over coffee or beer!
Our Experience
My journey in photography began when I attended school for photojournalism. There, I was taught by some incredibly photographers how to watch for real moments and be ready to capture them in order to tell their story. After school Katherine and I started our business and she has been shooting with me ever since. Over the years Katherine has developed her own Photography career in food photography. We have been shooting together since 2009. We have been married since 2007. We have been together since 2003! To say that we work well together is an understatement!

I could not have asked for a better photography experience. In our case, we had TWO experiences with The Spragues: our engagement shoot, and then our wedding day. My husband and I...
had such a great time (and such fantastic results) with our engagement session, that there was no question who we were going to hire for our wedding.
It's abundantly clear from their portfolio that Daniel and Katherine are extremely talented (and have an aesthetic that we were really drawn to). But what's less immediately clear is how much they care about what they do, and how dedicated they are to their clients. They know how special your event is for you, and they do what they can to be contributory to a successful day. They are great communicators throughout the process, and are willing to hear you out no matter what your requests are, and then take the time to make thoughtful suggestions to help make your ideas really shine.
They will also--and I didn't even know this was a thing until it was happening and I very much needed it--ADVOCATE for you. They facilitate a pre-event discussion about what YOU want, and then they don't let anyone (guests, pushy parents, etc.) deviate from making sure that you have everything that you asked for. I'd like to be clear that they are NOT rude or unkind in ANY way, but they know how to be professional and get a job done. Watching Daniel organize everyone at the wedding was a revelation and relief--especially when the group seemed completely dedicated to being like herding cats, or a pushy guest wanted to step in and lend his VERY inexpert direction regarding what group shots should be taken.
I also ended up with a shocking number of incredible photos. I am genuinely not a photogenic person. This is not a self-deprecation. Oftentimes people will be like, "what is happening!?" because I am so often nearly unrecognizably awful in a photo. But I have so many photos that I absolutely adore from my wedding that my wedding album is 91 PAGES LONG. I KID YOU NOT, THAT IS THE ACTUAL PAGE COUNT. And that's after painstakingly culling out the Loves from the Slightly-Less-Loves.
Furthermore, they are just cool people. Although we only had Daniel at the wedding, he was able to mingle seamlessly with the guests--everyone loved him (adults, kids, other vendors...). And when they both came to our house for our "Quarantine Themed" engagement shoot (that included our two dogs), they were able to put us both at ease. And I have to say that my husband and I are generally the type of people who will avoid having our photo taken at any cost (please see above unphotogenic comments). I think this talent for putting people at east really contributes to their ability to take beautiful photos.
There are a lot of things that, in retrospect, I probably would have changed or tweaked about my wedding. But The Spragues are definitely not one of them. 10/10--will hire again.
Kate and Dan were amazing! We weren't quite sure what we wanted, but that didn't stop them from delivering photos we will love forever. Not only did they produce beautiful images t...
o remember our special day, but they were able to suggest so many fantastic locations to shoot around Chicago. They are a great team that is easy to work with, very communicative, extremely creative, and clearly know what they are doing. Highly recommend to anyone needing photographers.
I cannot recommend The Spragues enough! Katherine and Daniel are an incredible husband-wife duo that not only made our wedding day enjoyable, but produced the most beautiful photos...
by which to remember it! They are both laid back, yet kept us on schedule; they focus on capturing the day as it happens with unplanned moments. If you're looking for photographers that could easily be guests at your wedding and also produce high quality and artistic photos - Kate and Daniel are it!
My photos are the most unique photos i have ever seen and I love each and every one of them. The way the moment is captured from the ceremony, portraits and just candid ones makes...
we so happy to look back on this day time and time again. They were quick to respond, made me feel very comfortable and i honestly want to be their best friends now. :) I have never felt so beautiful in photos and would recommend the Spragues over and over again!!!!
If you're considering hiring the Spragues, do it! Their photos are absolutely incredible, and they're a joy to work with. I compared a bunch of different photographers' photos befo...
re choosing the Spragues, and their photos are way better than any other photos I saw. Kate and Daniel were fun, flexible, and helpful at our wedding. And, of course most importantly, I love our wedding photos! I would hire them again in a heartbeat.
Daniel and Katherine shot our wedding in Vermont last summer (June 2019) and we feel so extremely lucky they did. The photographs were gorgeous and the price (especially the travel...
aspect) was very reasonable. Biggest thing, though, on top of being crazy talented and creative, they added such an easygoing vibe to the whole day -- we were a little nervous that no matter who we hired we would feel unnatural being photographed and the pictures would reflect that -- they were the complete opposite. They are so laid back, they feel like friends almost instantly and it's more like having an extra bridesmaid/groomsman on the scene, rather than a photographer. Daniel was our point of contact after the wedding and was super helpful/accessible in creating a catalog and even advising on photo book options. (And since then, I have even had a beer with him in L.A.). These guys rock and we look forward to staying in touch over the years. If you hire them, you will not regret it.

Choosing the Spragues for our wedding was by far the best decision we made for our wedidng.
When we started looking at photographers for our wedding, we were committed to budgeting...
to whatever photographer was our favorite. After all, a wedding is only one day but the photographs last forever, right? We narrowed our favorites down to 3-5 photographers, and we chose the Spragues to do our engagement shoot. We knew before we got our engagement pictures back that we wanted Dan and Kate to shoot our wedding - they are the type of people that make you think you’ve known each other for years. And then, we got our engagement pictures back; surprise surprise, they were fantastic! We just had our wedding a couple weeks ago and we had the best. day. ever.
Their work speaks for itself, go check out their Instagram!

d while also somehow always being in the background. Many guests told me they never even saw our photographers. They have an incredible ability to capture every special moment, and there were so many moments that I would have never been able to see if it weren't for them. Their work is beautiful and brought us to tears when we saw the final product. If you want gorgeous, high-quality, photo-journalistic images, y9our will NOT be disappointed. You will want to frame all of them. I can't thank them enough, they were the best decision we made for our special day!
Daniel and Kate were an absolute pleasure to work with. Not only is their work bad-ass/stunning/wait is that me, omg that's me, I look amazing, Dan and Kate are two of the most org...
anized and hardest working people we had the pleasure of meeting during our wedding planning. From the moment they walked into our venue, they felt like friends. They danced with us, chatted with our families, and even let our sweet two-year-old nephew snap a few photos with their camera. What I really loved about them was how they let moments happen organically, somehow whenever something beautiful or fun (i.e. tequila shots with our friends, a quiet moment together, the small details we stayed up so late to make) was happening I would look up and Dan or Kate would be there to capture it. They both have an incredible and purely raw talent for photography and we cannot wait to see how the rest of our photos come out. Nothing but love for Dan and Kate!

ctures! They did a fantastic job of capturing images that really express the mood of our wedding day, and they managed to take every space we were in and transform it into something unique and remarkable. We couldn't be happier! And we absolutely recommend them.
I don’t even know where to start – so I’ll start with what I know: Daniel and Kate Sprague are photography geniuses…and the best people on earth. My husband and I first came across...
their photography when searching for our wedding photographer online. After emailing back and forth, we had a Skype session to meet each other virtually (my husband and I live in NY so weren’t able to meet in person). It was love at first sight. We instantly bonded with Dan and Kate – chatting about our vision for our wedding, our hopes in a photographer, and toasting with the brews we were all sipping on.
Booking with Dan and Kate was the best decision we made for our wedding. We had our engagement shoot with them in Boston at sunrise, a year before our wedding. It was the first time we met them in person and, to no surprise, instantly became best friends. Did we just become best friends? Yup. More than that, they made us feel so comfortable and natural while shooting us. It was 5:00 a.m. and we had never met – but we instantly felt like we were at home with them. When we got our photos back, very soon after, we were in LOVE! They made us look like models…all while just acting our normal selves.
Leading up to our wedding – we had a lot of questions about timing on our wedding day, and shots that we were hoping to definitely get. Dan and Kate always responded right away – and always made everything so easy. I never felt anxious or stressed about photography – because they constantly made us feel like everything was handled…and it was.
The day of our wedding was perfect. Kate and Dan showed up while we were getting ready. They both took photos of me and my girl crew, and my husband and his crew, while getting ready and heading to the ceremony. Honestly – Kate never left my side and it was amazing. I’m not sure how she managed taking photos of us while helping me with my dress/hair/etc….but she did it!! What’s more…they were so much fun to hang out with! Throughout the day, and into the party, Dan and Kate honestly felt like they were two of our wedding guests. They danced with us, partied with us, had fun with us…but also took photos all night long. Several of our guests just thought they were our friends (which they now have become) because of how natural they fit into the crowd…which was perfect because nothing ever felt staged or posed. They were even still there and around at our after party before heading home.
The photos from our wedding day are my most favorite photos I’ve ever seen…and I only wish I had enough wall space to hang every single one around our home. Our wedding photos will be photos we cherish for always…and we also got two amazing friendships out of it. We recommend The Spragues to anyone searching…just do it…book them now!!!

tional photos, but also a mix of some more fun and quirky elements. We wanted to capture our day as a work of art and that's exactly what they did. We had so much fun working with them! I would absolutely recommend them in a heartbeat!
DAN AND KATE ARE AMAZING! I initially contacted the Spragues after loving the artistic look of the wedding photos they featured online. I also read the bio, and loved that Dan a...
nd Kate were a loving family photo team. My husband and I wanted to meet the Spragues in person to see more photos and to get to know them a little before hiring them. They suggested meeting for dinner and drinks. We had a blast! We talked business first, and then spent the next hour and a half just getting to know each other, carrying on like we were already old friends.
They offer a free engagement session for all couples who book with them. Neither Colin nor I particularly enjoy being photographed, but they were so lighthearted, easy going and fun that we forgot about the scariness of it and had a wicked good time! We ended our shoot with Dan convincing me, and then me convincing Colin to jump into the lake. The shots were unreal.
Our wedding was even more amazing. Dan went disc golfing with the groomsmen to get some pre-wedding shots, while Kate stayed and took shots of the girls getting ready. Kate was also extremely helpful in telling other people where to be (or not to be), which took a lot of stress off of me. The Spragues are professional and extremely talented. Before the wedding we went over the list of family and friend shots we wanted to take, and then on the day of they were able to organize everyone quickly and efficiently so we would have plenty of time for all the shots we wanted to get. The entire experience was relaxing and fun. We have not seen all of the shots yet (because the wedding was only three days ago), but we cannot WAIT! My great grandmother was not able to travel to be at the wedding, so Dan and Kate quickly put together about ten photos the day after the wedding so I could send the pictures to her before we left on our honeymoon. Again, they are AMAZING. If you like fun, I could not recommend a better team to capture your day.
Daniel is AMAZING! We didn't want boring, traditional wedding photography and searched a long time for someone that could capture place, emotion, and detailin a photojournalistic s...
tyle, all within our price range. He definitely did that, and much more. He worked closely with us to make sure we got everything we wanted from our photos, that there wasn't a detail he missed. For example, the locket wound in my bouquet from my deceased father, attached so he could walk me down the aisle, in a way. He's also an incredibly nice guy and felt more like a friend at our wedding than a stranger lurking in the background.
Also, if you have the chance, do Daniel's photobooth option. The guests loved it and the pictures are hilarious!
Here's a sampling of his work at our wedding: http://danielaaronsprague.com/weddings/beardly-amounts-of-awesome-new-hampshire-wedding-photograhers/
Where to begin… If I could give Daniel 10 stars I would! We did both an engagement session and our wedding pictures with Daniel and we fell in love with his work instantly. Daniel ...
and Katie are both amazing people and we loved working with them. We couldn’t have asked for a better photographer. Daniel is so low key, he has an amazing eye and he knew exactly what we wanted! I am not your typical bride; I do NOT like your traditional wedding photos (which he can do if you want). I like something that looks like art, something that catches your eye, and that’s what we got. We have received nothing but AMAZING comments from ALL of our family/friends/coworkers about our pictures. My husband and I also loved that fact that Daniel and Katie didn’t feel like a photographer, the felt like guests to our wedding.
Daniel summed up in two words... ROCK STAR!!!!
i found Daniel on the knot.com and when I went to see his work at his house I fell in love with every photo. He does not do the typical posey shots but really captures the true bea...

We have used Daniel Aaron Sprague for our wedding photos and we could not be happier. He was so attentive and the pictures are beyond belief. He is definitely not the cookie cutter...
photographer! Boring wedding photo's are sometimes synonymous for in the wedding industry. If you want an artist compared to a photographer (and trust me I checked them all out) You must go with daniel. He is by far the best (maybe because he does not act like he is a wedding photographer). He will not give you the standard run of the mill photography (unless you ask for it but really...why would you) he believes in living art. He did not pressure us into things he wanted us to do, he allowed us to decide what photos we wanted as a married couple and never questioned our intent. He made us look beautiful no matter where we were doing. If you hire him you are getting someone who takes time to get to know you as a couple and then delivers photo's that capture that essence. His eye for lighting, detail, capturing honest moments were unparalleled. I cannot say how happy we are with his photos. The best part is you also get his wife Kate. She completely saved me in a very bad situation and I have no way to truly repay her. I would recommend daniel to anyone who wants a feeling of a friend taking their picture instead of a cold professional who only wants to collect a check and go home. Daniel is a rare find! He captured the true wedding at your best even when you do not think you have your best shot: the happy tears when you don't mean to cry: the weird faces of joy: and the wacky grins of an honest moments and the love between two people.
My fiancee and I looked high and low for a photographer that we really liked and that could capture the essence of our day. Many of the photography studios that were recommended b...
y other vendors were extremely overpriced and and were too rigid for our needs.
Daniel and his wife Kate invited us over to their home for our consultation (other studios wanted to do most everything over the phone) and were extremely open with us. Many photographers out there in the industry are stale veterans that have not made an effort to stay up to date with modern technologies and image editing techniques. Daniel does it all. He's extremely up to date on his equipment and techniques and our pictures turned out beautifully!
Lots of places we looked at would show you only their absolute best stuff. When you're taking thousands of images you're bound to get something good out of it. Daniel encouraged us to look through an ENTIRE photo shoot for a wedding he did. Everything was GREAT.
Daniel and Kate are a great couple to work with and will ensure you get what you want. They'll bend over backwards for you. We highly recommend them.
His prices are very reasonable and you get so much more than the big guys.
Finding the right photographer was simply the most important thing to my finace and I about our wedding. We wanted someone that we would be comfortable with, being that we are nerd...
y and a bit crunchy we were extremely nervous to get in front of the camera. Daniel was recommended to us by a co-worker and after meeting him and his wife we were beyond sold. We recently did our engagement photos and the whole time my fiance and I were so comfortable, they were a pleasure to work with and we had a blast!!! Our pictures came out Perfectly, way better than we ever would have thought. Daniel has the perfect eye for photography, this blended with his demeanor and professionalism makes him a rockstar!!!

d he produces a stunning final product. We were planning the wedding from Washington, DC and despite not having the luxury of engagement photos with him, Daniel made us feel connected with regular email check-ins about the details of the wedding. The day of the wedding Daniel and his wife Kate made for a great tag-team. They were able to be several places at once, never getting in the way of how we wanted the day to unfold and absolutely respectful of a few of our friends' requests for photo sessions of their own :) From getting ready through the ceremony, reception, and on to dinner and dancing they were able to capture shots that had us in tears when we received the final images on CD. Thank you Daniel (and Kate!) for going above and beyond to provide us with images of the special day we will hang in our home for a lifetime.
I was already married when I met Dan, but would get married again just to have him shoot my wedding. I had him take shots of my family for my husband for Father's Day and again jus...
t before my husband deployed. Dan's talent is beyond words. His photos are truly remarkable and beautiful. His ability to put us all at ease (I absolutely HATE having my picture taken) is another of his noteworthy gifts! Dan is able to capture beauty in every shot he takes, and what he is able to do with a camera is completely and utterly amazing. At the end of our photo shoot, my kids were calling him "Uncle Dan." Their willingness to adopt him into our family illustrates Dan's warm and friendly nature. I truly cannot say enough about this aspect of him (and his lovely wife Kate). And the artistic nature of Dan's photography is truly unmatched. He has a gift and I'm so thankful he shared it with us! I look forward to working with him many more times in the future! Five stars aren't nearly enough!
Dan & Kate did a great job at my sisters wedding, the pictures are wonderful and they were great to work with!
First of all, the quality of our pictures is unbelievable. When you take into account what we paid, it is nothing but a steal. For months upon months, people have been sending me m...
essages on social networking websites commenting on them and asking who my photographer is. 6 months after the wedding, I am still looking at them over and over. They are stunning!
From the beginning I really felt like Dan listened to my suggestions when it came to how I wanted my pictures to look. I couldn't ask for a better couple to work with. They had us laughing when we felt awkward in front of the camera. Kate fixed my hair or dress when it was out of whack. Dan's artistic mind would be running, while Kate keeps him on track and organized. They took my ridiculous charts seriously. I am amazed at Dan & Kate's attention to detail, in photos and logistics, and they're positivity in all situations is refreshing.
Being a perfectionist, it is very hard for me to decide on anything. The process of choosing a photographer was nerve wrecking for me. Looking back on my wedding now, I can say without a doubt that choosing Daniel Aarron Sprague Photography was one of the BEST decisions that my husband and I made. We will continue to use this photographer for all our photography needs for years to come!
Dan & Kate are amazing. Our pictures were amazing & their customer service was amazing. We have the most fantastic photographs, howoever I don't remember seeing them dur...
ing my ceremony or reception (which is remarkable considering the shots that they got). The only complaint is that there are too many perfect pictures that we want to get printed and had a diffucult time choosing, what a great problem to have ;)
My husband and I got married on July 24, 2010. Dan and Kate were amazing. Not only did they take the traditional pictures (and did it fabulously might I add), but they also oblig...
ed our silly sides and took numerous "photo booth" pictures so all our guests could get in on the action if they wanted to. We were very pleased with their service and quality of the pictures. Above all they are great people and we felt very confident in their photographic hands.

ng photography is... similar but we wanted something out of the box and we feel this describes Daniel and Kate!! Not only do they do formal wedding photography well, they also capture moments and are able to find creative angles!
We e-mailed them quite often with small concerns or questions here and there and they ALWAYS replied back in a timely manner. I love this. I am the type that needs an easy flow/constant communication and I never had to worry about this with them.
We decided to go with a FULL day's package with them. The deal is that they will begin/end photography when we choose.... who else offers a package like this?!?!?! THEY are AMAZING.
Our engagement shoot went very well! We didn't really have a "special" spot we wanted our engagement shoot to be at, so we left it up to Dan+Kate to help us find one. All we said was that we wanted it outdoors in the woods and they found the most amazing place - Harold Parker State Forest. It was a dreary day and it was drizzling... Although I had full confidence in Dan+Kate, I was a little nervous about how the photos might turn out with the low lighting. But when they sent us our photos, we were amazed! They turned out better than we had expected. The experience was comfortable and fun.
If anyone deserves more praise, it would be Daniel Aaron Sprague Photography! I hope that more people will book them in the future. Meeting them and being able to see a FULL day's worth of photos from a previous wedding, sealed the deal for us.
PICK THE DATE, THEN PICK DAN + KATE!!

as about where to go for the shoot. They made it extremely comfortable and fun and got the photographs to us very quickly. We are really looking forward to our wedding photos if the engagement photos are any indication of how incredible they will be!
We couldn't be more thrilled with the decision to have them shoot our special day and have already referred a handful of friends and family to them for their future photo needs.
Dan and Kate did a wonderful job at our wedding this September. The setting was a southern mansion, nestled in the heart of New England, and they were able to capture just that. To...
capture true raw emotion is such a wonderful gift, and Dan and Kate most definitely have that ability. Just glancing at the photos I can feel the emotions of each exact moment. It is such a blessing to have had our perfect day captured in such a way that our love for each other is expressed through photos just as it is in our hearts. If we could do it all over again, three things would remain: the groom, the location, and the photographer. Thank You Dan and Kate.

I feel like I don't even have words to describe how impressed I am, how lucky we are to have had you as our wedding photographer. I mean, even if you were a jerk it would have been worth it for these photos--pretty sweet that we also enjoyed your company.
Thankyouthankyouthankyou to you and Kate!

re the only thing that we can take away and remind us of our amazing day. We found Dan and Kate through friends and we knew that they were the ones to shoot our wedding. Planning is SO stressful, (even more so when your in another state) Dan was always very quick to answer emails and my many, many questions. The day of our wedding Dan and Kate showed up and were ready to go, we instantly felt comfortable with them and made our day so special. Dan and Kate are so creative and used our whole reception site, we got some really great pictures. I would recommend them in a heartbeat. THANK YOU DAN AND KATE! :-)

task. So I thought, until we came across Daniel Aaron Sprague Photography. From the moment we met Dan and Kate we knew we had made the right choice. Before the wedding they gave us an amazing engagement shoot at the location of our choice. The day of the wedding they were very professional and attentive and also a lot of fun. They covered absolutely everything you could ever want without being told or even being noticed. Our pictures were given to us in a very timely manner and were beautiful! They are both very talented! I would very highly recommend them!

Daniel and Kate took care of details and were very helpful at every moment, they shared with us many important moments in our wedding. We had in mind some photos, but Daniel went above and beyond and took many photos that came up very naturally. He had the initiative to visit the wedding venue before the wedding and got familiar with it before hand. He was early on the day of the wedding and stayed all the way till the end with us, capturing every moment. After the wedding we received the photos in time and we were very excited with the results.
Previous to the wedding we did an engagement photo session and the photos were absolutely amazing! We are very happy with the photos and very happy with Daniel.
There aren't enough words to express how absolutely amazing, attentive, and professional Daniel was before, during, and after our wedding. As we all know, wedding planning and the ...
actual day can be more than overwhelming and you just want everything to go smoothly. Daniel helped my wedding day run smoothly and captured pictures that I didn't even know he was taking. He was like superman!! Everything goes by so quickly that day, it is almost like a blur. Thanks to his attention to detail, I was able to experience and appreciate all the hard work that goes into planning a wedding; the cake, the flowers, the centerpieces. The pictures that he took of all my friends and family were priceless, capturing every emotion and moment. Truly breathtaking. His prices are wonderful and really made our wedding budget a lot easier to manage. Daniel is a gifted, organized, and professional photographer that I would HIGHLY recommend to make sure that your special day is unforgettable.
