The String Bean

They were contracted to do catering for a ~80 person wedding. While hashing out the details of the order in the first few weeks/months with our point of contact, her response time was very bad--it usually required 1 or 2 additional email follow ups to get a response. We should of ended things here (lesson learned). Fast forward, we finally got a hold of the owner who apologized and told us that our point of contact was no longer with the company and he was personally taking over our order. This made us feel better and things ramped up to our satisfaction. That is until 3 days before the wedding. It took 3 days to get ahold of the owner to give him money -- TO GIVE HIM MONEY! We finally got that detail sorted out the night before the wedding and we about 75% confident we would have food at our wedding. Wedding day wasn't much better. They were mostly setup and on time, but: - Forgot to set out (PAID FOR)appetizers in between ceremony and reception--guests were hungry and appetizers sat in the backroom uneaten - Was contracted to cut and serve cake with rental places and utensils (ALL PAID FOR), but THEY LEFT after dinner was served--besides the 1 slice we cut ourselves, OUR ENTIRE CAKE went un-served at our wedding. The one positive thing was that the food was delicious, a lot of folks told us the same. As you can imagine, post wedding trying to get a hold of the owner to rectify these issues and to get a partial refund, String Bean returned to their normal mode of ignoring our emails and calls. I waited a month to see if we would hear from them prior to writing this review, but still nothing. The food is one of the most expensive things at a wedding and to not have the entire happy hour food, or the rentals and the cake served was a HUGE disappointment and I would not recommend using them.
