The Swansons

The Swansons are the best - we couldn't recommend them more! We live in NYC and had a destination wedding in New Orleans and Ryan and Rachel shot both our engagement and wedding photos. Having high quality photographs was at the top of our priority list and after having quick introduction phone call with Ryan and Rachel we just knew we had to have them capture the day! The Swanson's have an awesome artistic eye and are great at capturing the feeling of a moment in a photograph. The photos are definitely unique and do not look like the type of standard "cookie cutter" wedding photos you often see repeated over and over. The Swanson's are also very easy to communicate with and were very quick to respond to our emails. We were able to visit New Orleans one weekend before our wedding to get all the major wedding planning items done and Ryan was great to squeeze us in his schedule and to take our engagement photos when we were in town. In deciding where to have the engagement photos taken I gave a brief description of the vibe I was going for and Ryan immediately knew the perfect spot to take us to. Both my husband and I are not typically comfortable in front of the camera at all but Ryan's laid back personality immediately put us at ease and he was able to capture beautiful engagement photos that really captured our personalities and genuine smiles! On the day of the wedding Rachel was our primary photographer along with her assistant and they were awesome about capturing the happiness and excitement of the entire day while never feeling as though they were in the way. They were also really fast so we didn't have to spend much time on photos and were able to just soak in the day. Ryan and Rachel really went above and beyond as well - we had really wanted some pictures in the venue's main restaurant area but hadn't been able to get the shots done earlier in the day because there were patrons in the space. Unfortunately by the time the space cleared out the contracted time was up for Ryan and Rachel services but because they are so wonderful and awesome they stuck around and took the pictures - looking back those end of the night shots are some of my favorites!! After the wedding the photos were quickly turned around and we now have a BEAUTIFUL and high quality wedding photo album that we will treasure for years to come. I have priceless and gorgeous memories to last forever. All thanks to Ryan and Rachael. We had SO much fun working with them throughout the engagement shoot and our wedding day. They do an incredible job of taking over when needed and disappearing to capture the most delicate candids. People ask me how I chose The Swansons and I tell them it is because I met with a variety of photographers who treated my big day as a business transaction. The Swansons did not. We met at a coffee shop and over an hour later they remained as engaged and attentive as they did when we first said "hello." That sincere interest in our story, wedding planning and journey was all I needed to know they would treat our wedding as if it was their own. Not to mention how quickly I fell in love with their artistic style. It is so natural, so warm and timeless. The results are perfection. We hope this is just the beginning and look forward to collaborating on an anniversary shoot soon!

A little delayed on my review. A big thanks to Ryan, he was wonderful to work with! We live up in Seattle and planned a destination wedding for Oct. Ryan was so easy to communicate with via email and we even meet for a drink during our vendor visit a few months before the wedding. Finding reliable vendors who are easy to communicate with when you live across the country is not as easy as I would have hoped and with Ryan all was smooth. Our pics of course came out beautiful and on the timeline expected. He even sent me a few early as I was looking to use one for our thank you cards. Definitely recommend, not only a joy to work with but also a great guy who we enjoyed getting to know during our time in New Orleans. We will be excited to see him again on future trips!

Ryan is amazing. My husband and I weren't planning on taking engagement pictures, but thanks to social media--Ryan Swanson Photography popped up. After our shoot with him, even before we saw any teasers... We already knew that we wanted him to shoot our wedding. He made both of us feel so comfortable. Everyone was impressed on our wedding day... Ryan is a quick shooter. Taking pictures did not eat up all of our time. He's a great guy and our photographers are beautiful pieces of art that we will treasure forever.
