He realized that he wanted a groom’s cake. The groom’s cake he chose was a Reese’s cake that was a two layer cake, with the top layer cake “looked like a bite was taken out of”. The Reese’s cake was more of a hit then the actual wedding cake. We would highly recommend Sweet Life Bakery.

So it’s taken me some time to get around & do reviews, etc) but I was working 3 jobs, he 2, in order for us to pay for our wedding in cash, & meeting with vendors was next near to impossible, however, Jenny & I had probably sent over 130 emails!!! 😂 we had went to Haydels originally, Bc the price was closer to what we wanted to spend, but we had so many ideas for the cake, that they ended up throwing everything on a sheet for a mock run & it was terrible! When Jenny & I met, I had this calm feeling come over me! We told her what we wanted, or what we could start with, & then she just met us half way & said “oh what about doing this!”... & it pieced together perfectly! We def. do not regret spending what we spent on our cake! We were so anxious to see & taste our cake the day of the wedding, & besides me being pregnant, when I walked in the venue & saw it for the first time, I teared up! It was beyond beautiful, & then the taste, to die for! They use the absolute best ingredients, the cakes are always so tasteful, yet fluffy & so light & airy! When she brought out the samples, we thought it was ice cream on the trey! 😂 We were a bit disappointed with our venue Bc we didn’t really get to eat an entire piece, but, we had plenty when we got home! 😋 They also made my husbands grooms cake, which was a crawfish pot with all the fixings, & again, that was a piece of work! The cakes are so beautiful & uniquely made, you don’t even want to eat them! Lol I can’t say enough ab Jenny, Jessica, & the rest of their team for making this brides dream cake a reality! They will def have customers for life from us, I’ve told numerous ppl ab them & hopefully they have gone & got something, you will not be disappointed! They are extremely creative & helpful! professionalism demonstrated by Jenny immediately put me at ease (and though we didn't take her up on the offer, she was willing to ship tasting samples all the way to Arizona!) Our semi-naked, two-tier cake with gold leaf was delivered to our reception venue on time and without issue. It was absolutely stunning, and the traditional almond flavor was perfect. We received so many compliments from our guests, especially the 10-and-under crowd (who are, of course, cake experts), and we will definitely be ordering cupcakes from The Sweet Life for every anniversary!!

! We actually got several items from them for wedding festivities in addition to our wedding cake. We had not one single complaint about any of it. Everything was delicious and fresh. Our wedding cake was a topsy-turvy style cake - which was beautiful and an absolute hit! Everyone loved the shape and look. The taste of the cake was to die for. Even several days after the wedding, it was still fresh and delicious. 100% satisfied with The Sweet Life, and we would highly recommend them!

ly, it was the one part of wedding planning that I was actually looking forward to. Unfortunately, as we met with all the "well known" bakeries in the city, I was consistently let down. All I wanted was a chocolate cake. I'm a chocoholic, and for as long as I can remember, I've wanted a chocolate wedding cake. Each bakery kept coming up with reasons why I couldn't have a chocolate cake (it's too moist/it won't hold up) and offering alternatives. They also kept pushing the traditional almond on me, telling me its what people want and expect at a wedding. Wedding cake is great, but that's just not what I wanted. The cake was so important to me, and I was getting so depressed. I actually cried once, because it seemed like no one was willing to listen to me to give me the cake of my dreams. Then I remembered that I had met this awesome baker at a Bridal Show who was friendly, engaging, and completely non-judgmental as I ate up every single one of her remaining samples. Our cake-tasting with Sweet Life did not disappoint. Where we only got to try one or two types of cake and icing at the other bakeries, we got to try FIVE different flavors with Sweet Life, including my beloved Devil's Food, and there were at least five icings. The meeting itself was also much warmer than anything we had previously experienced. Jenny sat down with us and constantly reaffirmed that a chocolate cake was no problem whatsoever. And it wasn't a chocolate cake substitute; it was the most delicious, moist, flat out yummy cake I had tasted in awhile (and again, I freaking love cake). What's more, Jenny told me that my cake could be MULTIPLE FLAVORS! Can you believe this? Their cakes could have been hideous for all I cared at that point, because she was so great and the cake was that good, but the designs were simply beautiful. She sat down and discussed the overall feel and vice of our wedding with us, and when I told her that all of my bridesmaids were wearing black lace, she immediately jumped up to show me an edible lace they were starting to use. Because I'm so minimalistic, she gave us some great ideas for decorating the cake without going over the top. When I walked into our reception, the cake literally took my breath away. I'm 100% going to use them for all my baking needs from this point forward. They're worth every penny.

More than five months later and our friends still rave about our cake. How elegant it was, how delicious is was, how the cake and the frosting were both equally exceptional! Jenny understood right away what we were going for. Our wedding was at NOMA and everyone told us we had to put the cake at the top of the steps where it would be on display. We were hesitant of doing that, because we didn't want to have an over-the-top / look at our fancy cake type of wedding cake. Alas, there really was no other place to put the cake that would work. We said "Jenny. we need this cake to look elegant, but understated, to feed 240 people, but not look huge. most importantly, it needs to taste good!" She nailed it. A beautiful 5 layer cake that didn't look like five layers, with a phenomenal buttercream frosting with a simple texture to it. We cannot thank The Sweet Life Bakery enough!!

opted for two, an Oreo and a Reeses cup cake. I didn't get to taste the Oreo, but that Reese' s cake was out of this world delicious, everyone raved about it and still talk about it. Jenny was so helpful when it came to figuring out flavors and size of the cake. The wedding and grooms cakes were one thing I didn't have to stress over. Thank you Sweet Life Bakery.

d. I knew I needed them to do my grooms cake! I wanted something specialized (Mike the tiger, doctor themed) and Jenny made it come to life. She sat down with me and my mom over a tasting and brainstormed ideas. She helped us come up with the perfect cake, and even gave me multiple styles of cake so I could choose a price point. Day before the wedding as planned, I picked up the cake that they packaged up so well, and drove it across the causeway without any problems. I'm still getting compliments on the grooms cake because of how adorable the design was *and* how delicious it tasted, which is a hard combo to come by. Cannot recommend Jenny and The Sweet Life Bakery enough!

different colored frostings would look odd, but the shades of light pink (one of our colors) blended beautifully together. Jenny also added some edible glitter that really took the cake over the edge. To top off their amazing service, the team at Sweet Life also wrapped all of our cupcakes in decorative wrappers that we mailed them a few days prior to the wedding. Now, a year later, we still have people talking about how beautiful and tasty our cake was. I honestly couldn't ask for a more perfect cake, or a more perfect bakery!

When I tell you she took my idea to another level and made my cake look 1000% better than the Pinterest one, future brides will definitely be wanting to copy THIS cake! As for the taste? Let me start by saying I absolutely hate cake icing and fondant, but after attending a wedding and an anniversary party who both had cakes from Sweet Life, I found myself going back for seconds! I knew they HAD to do my wedding cake in the future! Sweet Life uses a swiss meringue buttercream that literally tastes like whip cream but looks as smooth as fondant. It was a no-brainer for me, so I chose a 4 tier almond cake covered in almond buttercream with 2 layers filled with strawberry and 2 tiers filled with cream cheese. n for the outside of the cake, but I was most impressed by the cake flavors themselves. I had two layers with funfetti and strawberry butter cream filling, and the middle layer was yellow butter cake, with oreo butter cream filling (this was my favorite layer, I must say). We also had some cakes in the back ready to cut and serve because I only wanted a 3 tiered cake which I didn't think would be enough. The cakes in the back were bananas foster cake with french vanilla butter cream filling and then another yellow cake with orea filling. I surprised my husband with a grooms cake that looked identical to a "Mellow Mushroom" Pizza box as that is one of his favorite things on this earth and the cake was Chocolate with chocolate chip cookie dough buttercream. AMAZING. Anyway, on top of all of that, she is a really friendly nice person to work with and I can't say enough good things. Also, super fast with answering emails!! was such a HIT! We met to do a tasting and were blown away by how delicious everything was! The staff was very helpful, easy to reach and they also delivered and set-up the desserts beautifully! They helped us determine a number of desserts appropriate for our guests and helped us create a nice variety of cupcakes, peppermint bark, cannolis and tarts to serve! They were all so popular, we barely got to try any ourselves! My only reason for taking off a star for value was because the cost of the delivery was a little expensive and we had to purchase our own cupcake towers and tiers and set them up ourselves. It would have probably been better to have a family member pick-up the desserts since we had to set up the tiers, decor, and cupcake towers ourselves anyway. Delivery is probably worth it for those ordering a giant wedding cake though!

They were great to work with before the wedding and set up a tasting for us and sent pictures of sample cakes to be sure they knew exactly what we wanted. The grooms cake was a Saints newspaper/crawfish boil and it was red velvet. Also delicious and very cool. This bakery is competitively priced and tastes better than competitors. Unfortunately we didn't get to take any cake home because apparently there wasn't a box to put it in..so I only got my first bite, but it got rave reviews from all guests. Since we didn't get to save any for our anniversary I sure hope we can work out a way to have a small replica made next year!!

Jenny put all of my crazy ideas together and created something far better then I had ever imagined! It was more then affordable too! We actually ended up below budget for our cake which is always a plus!!! They also have cake stands so it is a one stop shop for both things! I would highly recommend sweet life bakery! I have also ordered cake pops from here and they were perfect and delicious as well! Thank you Sweet Life!

I let Jenny have control over the whole cake and just told her how many people we were feeding and that I wanted real flowers. I was beyond ecstatic! I wasn't bridzilla about my cake so I trusted her suggestions because this is what she does everyday & makes a living by it! Also they made my husbands groom cake! It was a replica of his antique 1961 F100 truck ! It took him 4 days to cut the cake ! He wanted to keep it as long as he could LOL ! I recommend The Sweet life bakery to anyone that I meet and even if its for pastries or king cakes, I still tell them to visit Jenny and her sister Jessica in Lakeview ! I will definitely use them again , hopefully my next cake will be my gender reveal cake or my 30th birthday cake , which ever comes first ;)

It was a hard decision because of course everything tasted great! We chose 3 different flavors for our 4 tier cake. For the grooms cake my husband wanted a '64 Lincoln continental. We proved pictures of what he wanted then chose the flavors. On our wedding day when we walked into the venue and saw the cakes, we were amazed! Our wedding cake had fresh black magic roses between each cake tier. The cake was absolutely gorgeous. The grooms cake was just like the picture we had shown her. My husband and I were both very happy with everything. Our guest kept commenting on how beautiful the cake was! Then it was time to eat it! The cake was moist and the fillings were amazing! All of our family and friends enjoyed the cake, some people wanted a piece of each layer! Our experience with The Sweet Life Bakery was great! I would recommend Jenny and her talented staff to anyone needing a cake for any type of celebration. We can't wait to eat the top layer on our 1 year anniversary!

Bakery! I had the topsy turvy cake w 4 tiers where each tier had a new surprise inside for my guests and their palettes! This cake was pure genius and got rave reviews all night. We could not let any go to waste and took every last piece (which was not much) home w us! From red velvet to Oreo to almond and even strawberry cream cheese it truly was a great addition to such a successful and amazing night! I will definitely be using Jenny at Sweet Life for all my upcoming events in life! She was a pleasure to work with ESP for a stressed out bride planning a wedding in 5 wks. I have never been at a wedding where everyone raved so much about the cake and most people had seconds and thirds! Brides, when considering which bakery to work with, definitely consider The Sweet Life as they are not just a cake factory that will give you dry tasteless cake like some of the other well-used establishments in NOLA, but a small business who cares about pleasing their customers and makes some of the best tasting cake I have ever had - which says a lot because I can't remember the last wedding I ate the cake at before mine! :)

Not only do the cakes taste amazing, they are each a handmade masterpiece! My guests are still raving about them!
