The Swooners

I’ve seen The Swooners perform at several events over the years, and they are one of my favorite bands in Rochester. They are so versatile in what they can play and bring 100% energy every time! You can tell they love what they do and the crowd feels it too. I WISH I had hired them for my wedding!

We recently hired the swooners to perform at a cocktail party celebrating our marriage on September 8, 2024. Their talent and musicality were outstanding, and we received numerous compliments on their show. However, there were a few areas where things did not go as planned. We had specifically arranged for the band to learn and perform a particular song, for which we paid an additional $400. Unfortunately, it appeared that this song had not been learned as expected. Some band members even admitted before the performance that they had not prepared it. This was an expensive addition that ended up being very disappointing. Additionally, our agreement was for a seven-piece ensemble, but only six members were present during the first set. Despite these issues, Swooners’ overall performance was impressive, and their abilities were well-received by our guests. I believe that with a bit more attention to the agreed-upon details, their future performances will be even more outstanding.

The Swooners were INCREDIBLE at my wedding. They played both the ceremony and reception, we had the best time! Mark was also a dream to work with.

The Swooners played at my wedding reception/ceremony and were nothing short of amazing! Several guests complimented how talented they were and how they played such great music! They incorporated our suggested songs with their set list seamlessly and were so easy to work. They performed well past midnight and we still weren't ready to leave the dancefloor. We had the Swooners perform at our parents 50th wedding anniversary party and everyone LOVED them! They got everyone out on a dance floor! Could not say enough great things about them- their professionalism, their song choices, and their musical abilities were all outstanding! They even played an extra half hour than our allotted time because the party ran a little off schedule. All around great band to deal with both before and during the party. Highly recommend them for any event!

We heard about The Swooners through word of mouth. They were highly praised & we heard how the crowd danced the night away. After speaking with Mark, we knew The Swooners were the right choice for our wedding. Mark was an excellent manager and worked alongside not only me but our venue manager as well. Our guests absolutely loved moving and grooving to their music! My Aunt from Louisiana was able to speak to the band on the day of our wedding and they arranged to play some New Orleans tunes to go with our surprise Second Line! I highly recommend hiring The Swooners over hiring a DJ!

There are not enough words in the world to explain how INCREDIBLE and AMAZING The Swooners are!!!! Mark was so easy and fun to work with during the planning process and the band ROCKED all night long!! They are SO SO SO talented and fun!!!! Our guests were on the dance floor non-stop and couldn't believe we found this unbelievable band to play our wedding!! OUTSTANDING in every way!!! WOW. Absolutely incredible band and very talented. We had them play at our wedding and they completely elevated the fun at our reception. I couldn't wait for The Swooners to play at our wedding! Mark was always very responsive to our requests, and regularly followed up with me to ensure I gave him all the info he and the band needed for a smooth day (I was hard to track down sometimes because of my busy schedule and he always made sure to check in on me!) We had an outdoor vineyard wedding, and The Swooners transitioned seamlessly between the ceremony and reception. They were easy to work with and created the exact atmosphere we were looking for, and ensured they coordinated with both the hotel and the venue to dot the I's and cross the T's beforehand. The sound was great and they were able to play the 1st dance song we requested without missing a beat, even though they'd never played it before at another venue. We'd recommend them to anyone looking for a first-class, reliable, and fun live band for their event.

Better than we could have ever asked for! Stop searching for a wedding band and BOOK THE SWOONERS. They rocked 3 sets and an encore. Our wedding guests continue to rave about how they were the "best band ever". Seriously, my sister even admitted that our wedding was better than hers because of the Swooners. Their song catalog is great and they were easy to work with. Book this band and stop worrying about the music!

The Swooners are a seriously awesome wedding band. They played our wedding in the Finger Lakes in July 2023, and they were one of the absolute highlights of the entire weekend. They were easy to work with and responsive throughout the planning process, they rented us an additional PA and wireless microphone for a reasonable price, and they are extremely talented musicians. The Swooners played such amazing, energizing, dance-worthy music that our friends and family kept saying how our reception dance party was one of the best they'd ever been to. We hired the 7-piece band with a female vocalist, and it was well worth it. They honored our playlist requests while adding some excellent choices of their own, and they played and sang with a full, groovy flare that kept everyone on the dance floor for 2.5 hours straight. Friends and relatives who never dance were out in the middle of the fray. The band members were also super kind and flexible when we needed to start our dance party later than expected. We can't recommend The Swooners highly enough!

Never before have we been approached by a large group of people asking "Who is this band?" Comments of "these people are amazing," "the music is perfect for the occasion," and "How did you find them?" echoed throughout our reception that evening. We had the quartet for our reception, and their performance nothing short of perfection. We had guests asking us what others events do they do. They had a wide range of music genres, from big band swing to 1950s and 1960s and played for the entire evening, making accommodations with our requests. We cannot thank Mark and the Swooners enough for being with us every step of the way and for our last minute clarifications and changes the day before our wedding. Book them! You will not regret it!! 😉

The Swooners were amazing! They were one of the highlights of our wedding! Everyone loved the band, the music they played was great. We are so glad to decided to book with them!

After discovering the Swooners through Summer Serenades in Brockport and hearing them again at the Lovin' Cup, 5 of us decided that we absolutely needed to have a party featuring their music. So we did and it got rave reviews! Around 90 of us were at the Lodge in the Park (and the vast majority of us have been retired for quite awhile) listening, singing and dancing to the perfect playlist of songs. It's not too often that you can dance to live music of this quality at our age and it put a smile on so many faces (and it was not just slow dancing). Thank you Swooners, for being so sensitive to your audience! You are great musicians and have 5 star voices too! We had several requests to do a repeat of this event by the very next day! There are not enough good things I can write about The Swooners! Being raised on Billie Holiday and Frank Sinatra, it was always a dream of mine to hire a live jazz band for my wedding. The Swooners swung that dream into reality! As a band, they were absolutely groovy. The lead singer was incredibly cool and sexy with her deep voice and sleeve of tattoos. The band was jammin' and also looked super jazz cool. They had an impressive repertoire that spanned jazz eras and they were open to me highlighting it with what I was hoping to hear. On top of the the cocktail hour jazz, they also played my ceremony beautifully, and even learned a favorite song of my now-husband's that I wanted to surprise him with for the recessional music! Additionally, of all my vendors, they were one of the absolute best with communication. Every bride knows that nervous, anticipatory energy that follows when you've reached out to prospective vendor for a quote or details. With Mark, that never lasted long and it was highly appreciated. (I personally also admire and respect the business-savvy of vendors who recognize the importance of this.) Lastly, their price was just right and allowed me to hire them. Even though it was a borderline non-negotiable wedding dream for me, if it came down to it and cuts had to be made, the live jazz band for the cocktail hour and ceremony music would fall into the "nice-to-haves" over things like the photographer. Their prices were fair and attainable and more than worth it. Overall, debate not further if you're debating whether or not to hire The Swooners (also loved their classic jazz band name...it seems like a small thing, but it makes a difference!) We received so many compliments from the guests. My only regret was that I couldn't hang and listen to them further. They were professional, groovy, elegantly cool, and truly truly made one of the deepest dreams for my wedding come true.

I can’t express enough how happy we were with our decision to book The Swooners for our wedding reception! Not only was the music exceptional but all communications leading up to the event were responsive and well organized. Couldn’t imagine our special day without this band hyping up all our guests and giving us the “party” we had envisioned! The Swooners were absolutely fantastic! We hired them off of our wedding planner’s recommendation (RD Events & Design - hire her NOW) and had only seen videos of them perform. They exceeded every expectation! The Swooners knocked our wedding song out of the park; we wanted Lauryn Hill’s version of “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You” and they were more than happy to oblige. All of our guests danced the night away and were absolutely raving during and even a week after the wedding. Every member of the band was incredibly talented and kind. They even let me jump on the stage to perform “Valerie” to my grandmother, Valerie, alongside our incredible lead female singer, Isabella. Cannot recommend them enough!

The Swooners were the hit of our wedding! We hired them for our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. They were easy to work with, entertaining and sound amazing! I am still receiving compliments from our guests of how much they enjoyed The Swooners. Many older guests have shared with me that they’re the best band they’ve ever heard at a wedding. Hiring The Swooners for our reception was the best decision we ever made. We listened to so many bands online, in just a matter of seconds after hearing one of their audio recordings I made the call. Their harmonizing is flawless, and the voices blend so well. Each of them are so talented in their own way. The transitions between songs were amazing, they never left the crowd hanging. Their repertoire is all feel good music, our family and friends danced all night till 1am.

We had the great pleasure to work with Mark and the Swooners leading up to our wedding. Mark was patient, kind, and accepting of our wishes as we were going through the selection process. His knowledge of the wedding industry and professionalism made him a joy to work with. I looked forward to our conversations as he was pivotal in the organization of our big day. Mark was patient and attentive as he brought our vision to life. He was able to accommodate all our requests and had such great ideas to help the day go as smooth as possible. As an MC he was punctual and did exactly what we had planned without any hiccups. Lastly, I cannot say enough about the music. The Swooners hit it out of the park. Our wedding day was one to remember for all who attended, and they are still talking about how well the Swooners performed. Honestly, one of the greatest musical experiences we have ever been a part of. The best wedding band in the business. 5/5 stars without question!

Mark and the band were great! We got a ton of comments on how fun our band was and how great they played. They also did our ceremony music, which was perfect!

The Swooners provided ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception music for our wedding in South Florida and they blew us and the guests away. Mark was incredibly professional to correspond with throughout the entire process, and the band did a lot to accommodate song requests for both the ceremony and reception. When it comes down to it, though, you want a killer band that can keep the dance floor moving all night, and The Swooners deliver that and then some. All night, people came up to us to compliment how good the band was, and they played a wide variety of songs and styles. We opted for the seven-piece band, which includes a female vocalist and two horns, and I highly highly recommend it. The horns added a ton to the songs, and the female vocalist was absolutely killer. Oh, and their rendition of the Hora really knocked it out of the park. Fantastic band, great communication, reasonable price. What more could you want? If you're in South Florida and looking for a band for your wedding, it's hard to imagine finding anyone better than The Swooners.

Honestly the best wedding band I've ever heard. They're just a really great band, period. They can play a variety of genres (our jam music loving friends loved that they threw in a few Phish songs) and built 3 really fun set lists to cater to a variety of musical tastes. Couldn't recommend them enough.

I knew a band was a must for my wedding. When I heard The Swooners playing around Rochester, I knew they would be perfect. I had a 6 piece. They sounded fantastic and people couldn’t stop raving about them. They play everything. I danced the whole night and they took requests from my guests. They were professional, accommodating and always in contact. Bands are expensive but they made my wedding. I would pick them over any other band every single time.

The Swooners played at our wedding on 10-9-22. They did a FANTASTIC job!! They set up the music for the ceremony and then kept everyone dancing and having a great time the rest of the evening. They are super organized and will make everything stress free and fun on your big day. Our day was absolutely perfect and The Swooners we’re a very big part of that!

WOW!! That is all I have to say about these guys. We had a five piece band with saxophone and we loved every minute. Mark was incredibly responsive and easy to get along with. We let them do their own thing and gave very few requests since our biggest goal was to get everyone dancing! We’ve gotten so many complements since our wedding. Incredible band, highly recommend to anyone considering!!

The Swooners played above and beyond at our wedding. We found them purely on research and couldn’t be happier. We gave them a loose idea of songs we wanted to hear, and allowed them the freedom to read the crowd. That was a great choice. The Swooners successfully gave our guests and my wife and I the party of the year!

The Swooners are hands down the best wedding band in the Rochester region! Their performances at our cocktail hour and wedding reception were phenomenal and the sound was amazing! The set lists were so custom to us and our guests - everyone had such a wonderful time. They got EVERYONE dancing, we couldn't have asked for a more awesome band! We attended our goddaughter's wedding this past weekend. The reception was held at Oak Hill Country Club. The Swooners 9 piece played and they were exceptional! Playing a variety of songs from Motown, HipHop, Jazz, Classic Rock etc. From the very 1st song to the last, they had everyone dancing and singing. It was one of the best receptions we have been to in a very long time. You can tell how much fun everyone had because people had to "ring their shirts dry" at the end of the night. Also, when people's voices are completely hoarse from singing, you know they had a great time. Thank you for helping to make this night very memorable. I can’t express my gratitude for the incredible performance the band put on Saturday night. Compliments keep flocking in from all of the attendees and the Oak Hill staff. Our guests ranged from 18 to 90 years old and everyone danced and sang with the band all night long. Our daughter’s wedding was a major undertaking for my family and we appreciate The Swooners turning it into an event everyone will always remember.

The Swooners were such a great hire for my wedding! Their live sets were so good and they helped keep the whole night running smoothly with all intros, cake cutting, dances, and the garter & bouquet toss. They definitely kept the dance floor lively and covered a wide array of genres in their music.

Choosing The Swooners to perform at our wedding was probably the best decision my now husband and I made during the entire planning process. Working with Mark to plan the event was so easy and the music on the day of the wedding was wonderful. From the ceremony to the cocktail hour to the dancing at the reception, everything was spectacular. The transitions between sets were seamless as well. My husband and I were particularly impressed that the ceremony musicians learned/played one of our favorite songs for the ceremony even though it wasn't originally on their song list. We had the most incredible party and it is definitely because our guests enjoyed the music so much. So many people came up to ask us who was performing and how we found them. Even my father, who has been a musician since he was young and who used to perform at weddings every weekend, said they were the best band he has heard perform at a wedding (which is very high praise). We are beyond pleased and would recommend The Swooners to anyone looking for a live band to perform at their event. We're already thinking of the next time we can plan a party and ask them to play for us!

I can't rave enough about The Swooners. Their 7 piece band performed at our wedding and made the entire day unforgettable. They played tasteful, beautiful acoustic music during our ceremony and then brought our reception alive the entire night. People could not stop dancing and didn't want the night to end. We asked them to incorporate a lot of unique touches to our wedding day and they were more than willing to accommodate all of our ideas to make the day special and personal to us. They even played a huge role in our send off and played music as they led us out in a Second Line parade. Our guests have been raving about the music since the event and asking where we found such an amazing band because The Swooners really took the day to another level. People were truly impressed. Having a live band is such a better experience and I wholeheartedly recommend The Swooners. I will forever be grateful for how special they made our day.

I am the owner/lead planner of Events by Brielle and worked with The Swooners for a wedding on 6/4. Mark was very friendly and easy going. His team was upbeat and fun which is important being the main form of entertainment for the evening! They had the guests on the dance floor the entire night and not only that, they sounded great! We had our wedding May 10, 2019 at Mote Marine Aquarium in Sarasota, FL. I have been following The Swooners ever since 2010. Ever since meeting the band, I was ‘swooned’ and said I wanted them to play at my wedding some day. I knew which song I wanted them to play when I walked down the aisle, I knew exactly what I wanted the “sound” to be at my wedding… All I needed was the Groom- whom I finally met in 2014!😊 ❤ There was never any doubt I would have someone else play my wedding. I NEVER wanted a DJ, I never wanted any other band. It HAD to be The Swooners. They were the first thing I booked when I started my wedding planning. I booked my wedding day around their schedule!😊 I texted, called, emailed with Mark from the beginning and kept in touch throughout. He was very responsive and great to work with. My parents, who footed the bills were VERY happy with him and the band. My husband and I like everything they do- We told them the songs we DID NOT want them to play and they abided by our wishes. The band learned our first dance and did their version was better than the original. I loved it! My dad and I couldn’t find a good song to dance to for our Father/Daughter dance that didn’t make us cry like babies or that wasn’t cheesy. We chose one of The Swooners’ originals- She’s My Only Girl. We had them change a few of the words to make it more appropriate for a father/daughter versus lovers. It was perfect. Mark’s secret skill is changing words to songs without people noticing. He is brilliant at it. It's funny, sometimes people aren’t paying attention and you’ll notice he slips in a few funny things. 😊 I would suggest with their playlists telling them what you DON’T want to hear, and what vibe you like.. and letting them work their magic. They are fantastic at reading the room, and their knowledge of music and songs is broader than you can imagine. If you can’t tell already, I freakin’ love them. I was overwhelmingly satisfied with them as my wedding band. The music was everything I had dreamed of, and I can’t wait to see them again. Everyone at my wedding who didn’t know them fell in love with them. My dad ordered a Swooners tee from them and wears it around town ALL THE TIME! Haha. Everyone loved them and still talks about how much fun they had that night. I wouldn’t change a thing. I want to go back and re-live it over and over and over. I am a terrible dancer but when The Swooners are playing, I can’t NOT dance! We danced the entire night, EVERYONE even people I didn’t think would dance! It was so fun, and I wouldn’t change a thing! Every wedding we have been to since my own wedding, my husband and I tell each other how happy we are that we had them- and not the DJ or crummy band at whichever wedding we were attending. 😊 Book The Swooners! You will be very happy with them. Just tell them what you want, what you don’t want, and let them Swoon everyone!

What can I possibly say but thank you to The Swooners for providing such amazing music for a large event I was managing at The Wilder Room, February 11th. The jazz quartet exceeded expectations and the guests were raving the moment they walked into the ballroom! It was wonderful to work with Mark. His professionalism and easy-going nature provided me with the confidence I made the right choice in musical artists for this high-profile important event for my client. As an event planner this is the second time I have used The Swooners and I look forward to working with them again!

Top notch wedding band!! They performed our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. They have a diverse group of musicians and can play just about anything. They did an amazing job during all parts of the wedding and we received a lot of compliments about the band. An absolutely essential part of our amazing wedding. Would recommend over and over again.

Mark and The Swooners were simply an amazing band. Very accommodating on the day of the ceremony and reception, and sounded just amazing. Played great tunes, read the room well and kept the energy high but also got us smoothly transitioned from one part of the evening to the next. Really awesome night thanks to them, and many compliments from our friends and family on our choice, even from some who were skeptical about a live band!

The Swooners did an outstanding job at our wedding! We went with a 7-piece band for the reception and a duo for live ceremony music. They went out of their way to learn the songs I requested for the ceremony which sounded absolutely beautiful. They did a great job MC-ing during the reception as well. Marvelously Unforgettable. There are not enough wonderful things I can say about Mark and the Swooners. If you want to receive endless compliments from your wedding guests about your fantastic taste in music and bands, book The Swooners now! Full disclosure, we were a challenging wedding group to work with. Our schedules and decisions changed constantly, right up until a few days before the wedding. Mark and his team were extremely understanding and exceedingly forgiving. Truly. My sister (and MOH) is a professional musician herself and selected this group from a bunch of other highly rated bands. She knew the importance of bands that play together as opposed to groups that hire random musicians that have not necessarily played together before. And let me tell you, that does make a huge difference. We recommend asking that of your band before booking. This was also their first time at our venue (an indoor/outdoor barn) and we were beyond impressed with their flexibility and professionalism. Mark was friendly, kind, and easy to work with. My sister served as the contact person with the band and wedding planner and said Mark was accommodating every step of the way, and even offered to learn a new song so my sister could play along with them. The day of the wedding, we had scheduled two components: 1) The Swooners’ Jazz Quintet for our outdoor cocktail hour-- that was SUPERB. It’s worth mentioning that my musician friends and family continue to rave about how talented and excellent the group was. 2) The full Swooners (7-piece) band played the reception and served as MC. Each member of the band was delightful and gracious, and had a go-with-the-flow spirit as things changed throughout the evening. The reception dance floor was ON FIRE. The musicians and vocalists are so talented in their own right, and they gave an extraordinary performance with seamless song transitions. We asked the Swooners to design the set list and they did not disappoint (we recommend). They were simply sensational and our guests continue to remind us of that! We had our first dance songs picked out (jazz standards & Motown) and our final song of the night (Sweet Caroline—which I highly recommend) and The Swooners blew our minds with their unforgettable renditions. As my husband and I still reflect on “the big day” and the memories made, we ALWAYS find ourselves saying to each other “remember when they played this? and how good that vocalist was; etc”. Consider us Swooner Fans for Life! We feel very fortunate that the Swooners were able to be a part of our wedding and look forward to booking them again in the future!

The Swooners were absolutely fantastic for our wedding day! They had an amazing mix of songs that kept the dance floor packed all night long. Mark was so accommodating and easy to work with, and everyone who played for us was extremely talented! What I loved most was how they read the crowd and extended certain songs with custom riffs and drum / saxophone solos, which really got the crowd excited. My husband and I wish we had another upcoming event to hire them for - they were incredible!

All of our guests raved about The Swooners and we had an absolute blast with them. Not only are they so talented, but the nicest people. We needed to reschedule our date due and the band was really accommodating. If I could get married again I’d 100% book them!

Hired the whole band and they were really awesome. They drove out to Buffalo for us(some extra cost) and put on a great show. They learned three songs for our wedding and my first dance to "All I ask of you" was magical(not an easy song to nail!). I received numerous compliments throughout the night about them from wedding guests("they have no business being this good!" "The band killed it"). They were super thorough and did everything I asked. Very much worth the cost -- definitely felt more unique/special than a DJ would have been. Thank you Swooners!

The Swooners were outstanding for our wedding. They played some beautiful ceremony music as guests were getting seated, and their performance during the reception was the highlight of the night. They took many of our suggested songs to heart and incorporated them into the set list. They also played other stuff from our favorite bands, and included some of their own great suggestions. They were also there bright and early setting up on the day of, and there were never any doubts about their professionalism during the process. 10 out of 10 all the way!

I saw the Swooners a few years back at a function, and instantly thought of them when we were looking for a wedding band. They were extremely professional, on time, and able to accommodate any changes that came up. They played the right songs at the right times - everyone was having a blast. They even learned our first dance song, and did an incredible job. We would highly recommend booking The Swooners!

Out of the entire wedding our guests were most blown away by The Swooners! We have had numerous couples ask for their contact info so they can have them at their weddings. We had a wonderful time dancing the night away. This band is the perfect mix of elegance and fun. We LOVED them.

This band was top notch. Fun, energetic, and kept the party going. They were willing to learn songs for the day and had solid play lists for in between breaks. Kind, professional and easy to contact. Highly recommend for any occasion!
