I am extremely disappointed and disgusted by the lack of mannerisms shown to me by Mike, the owner (who didn’t give me her name) & ultimatelywith this venue.
My daughter and her hu...
sband are currently away serving in the military, so she asked me to represent them and tour the venue for their November 2026 autumn-themed vow renewal and reception.
Yesterday, I spent approximately an hour speaking with Alyssa. I was told our date was available and would be held for two weeks while we finalized details and submitted the deposit. I was instructed to come in today to meet with Mike and move forward. I arrived with the deposit in hand and was prepared to sign. A friend even left work early to accompany me.
Instead, I was told the date had been given to a corporate client who had signed and paid.
(**I understand that a signed contract takes priority. That is not MAIN the issue. The issue is that I was told less than 24 hours earlier that the date was available and would be held for us, yet no one bothered to contact me when that changed.**)
If the date was at risk or another client was considering it, especially a client with more money who was corporate that I knew this company was going to choose over a lower class, family, such as myself and my daughter, I should have been told. One simple phone call could have saved me, my friend, and my daughter significant time and disappointment.
What made matters worse was how I was treated when I arrived. Rather than acknowledging the conflicting information I had been given, I felt dismissed, talked down to, and spoken to in an unnecessarily loud and confrontational manner. I was reminded that technically the date was not mine because I had not yet signed or paid.
(**Ironically, I was standing there with the deposit ready to do exactly that.**)
The situation left me with the impression that a corporate client willing to bring in thousands of dollars more was simply more important than the commitment I had been given the day before.
If that was the reality, I deserved honesty from the beginning. (Don't tell a customer a date is available, have them make plans around it, and then take it away less than 24 hours later without even the courtesy of a phone call.)
I was not asking for special treatment because my daughter and her husband are United States Marines. However, if the owner truly has military experience as she stated, she should understand that military families have commitments and schedules that cannot always be rearranged at the last minute.
This wasn't simply about losing a date. (*It was about communication, integrity, respect, and how people are treated.*)
My daughter trusted me to handle this for her while she and her husband are away serving. Instead, I had to call her and explain why the date we were told was available the day before was suddenly gone.
(**My daughter deserved better. I deserved better. And every customer deserves better.**)
After this experience with Alyssa, Mike, and the owner, I would not recommend this venue to another family planning an important milestone.
We couldn't be happier with The Tanglewood House for our wedding ceremony and reception venue! The old historic building was absolutely stunning and our outdoor ceremony felt very ...
intimate as it was nestled between two log cabins and surrounded by trees.
I can't speak highly enough about the staff who paid close attention to detail to make our big day exactly how we wanted it. We used the venue for our catering, florals, and coordination, all of which deserve five stars. My husband's sister and parents both had their wedding receptions at the Tanglewood House and we were happy to keep the tradition going. The owner has made quite a few recent renovations that have upgraded the place. For example, we used the new patio to have a tent where COVID-conscious guests could dine in the open air during our reception to reduce risk. I enjoyed the bridal suite, which has plenty of room for a large bridal party to get ready in and even has salon chairs! There is also a large mirror that makes for really cute pictures.
My husband and many of our guests grew up down the street from the Tanglewood House, but hadn't been there in years. Everyone was talking about how neat of a venue it was and how they will definitely be back. I wish I could post photos on this review to show how picturesque this venue really is. I couldn't recommend it more.
I cant even begin to give Karey and her company a decent compliment. They went above and beyond with my wedding and was EXTREMELY accommodating to myself, my husband and our famili...
es. She is very easy to work with, calls frequently, double and triple checks details. I was not pressured into buying anything extra and she answered all of my questions honestly and without hesitation. My vendors had no issues working with her and the crew. All in all, I loved my wedding and everything about it.
Call them call them call them!!!!
The facility is beatiful! Very rustic and vintage. The staff was very friendly and very helpful in the planning process. They met with me 4 times before the wedding to make sure ev...
erything went smoothly. They supplied the venue, the food and the flowers. My only complaints are that they charged us for extra chairs without telling us and they really rushed us on wedding day. I had a timeline set out with enough time to clean up at the end of the night and as people were clearing out the staff was just throwing stuff into boxes and baskets. A few things were lost during that night that we were not happy about.
