Every dish can be paired with a whiskey to complement the smoky flavors of the meat. To say we had an amazing experience with the entire team from start to finish is an understatement. The bride's parents (who hosted) could not stop raving about how wonderful of a reception this was. Codi and George did everything possible to make sure our event was the vibe we wanted and had personal touches.
We opted for a cocktail reception with just under 90 people - wouldn't change a thing! There was room for our guests to mingle between both rooms and head to the dance floor. The food was incredible and service was astounding. The unique options gave our guests a different experience.
We cannot wait to come back in as to celebrate future events as we truly felt like family.
We worked with the Twisted Tail to host an outdoor, less than 30 person wedding in October of 2020 and they were fantastic. They made our big day beautiful, seamless, delicious, organized, memorable and stress free!
We worked with Codi, and she was extremely clear and reassuring throughout the planning process. She was also our coordinator with the outdoor location we picked which is only about a block away from the restaurant. She was very professional and took the time to work with us around revisions to the menu and bar.
Since the wedding was so small, I didn't hire a day of coordinator - but Codi was happy to step in for a few small favors I requested. She attended our rehearsal which was great in helping everyone understand the space and flow of the evening, and she let me drop off some extra items (guest book, a few vases, welcome table items, programs, name cards, etc.) that night and agreed to set them out the next day! This was huge because it allowed me, my family and bridal party to enjoy the wedding day without having to go back and forth to the venue for set up. On the day of, she also worked with the officiant and the DJ to help cue the ceremony. It was great to her there to organize the ceremony entrance.
Since we used the space for both the ceremony and dinner after, it required some set up shifting (reusing the chairs from the ceremony for the dinner, and moving tables post ceremony) and her and her team executed seamlessly! The bartender and the service staff were exceptional. They went out of their way to make sure everyone had what they needed during dinner, and they paid attention to our timing of speeches as well so that there was never the distraction of clearing plates while a speech was happening. Overall extremely detailed and professional! Above all that the food was fantastic. It was a variety of seasonal foods all served hot and delicious. Both our picky eaters of the group and our foodies of the group were very happy!
highly recommend
We love the Twisted Tail! Our wedding was set for this August and because #corona things had to change. We were so saddened to not have things go as planned. That being said, Juliet and the Twisted Tail were beyond accommodating and understanding not only throughout what we did have of a normal planning process, but also as we struggled to sort through what was best for us and our families given the situation. We're saddened to not have their fun, laid back vibe for our day, but we've been able to keep the band! Mikey Jr. and Co. will be playing for us in our backyard! While, this isn't a typical review of a wedding that went to plan, if you're a bride out there lucky enough to have a wedding in the future and you want it to go as planned, do not hesitate to reach out to the Twisted Tail. It's the perfect combination of Philly flair, but with a laid back "Juke Joint" celebration. The staff is beyond friendly, the food amazing, the old fashioned's beyond! For anyone out there looking for a more creative, intimate, fun, and casual "hang-out" environment for their wedding do not make your final decision without at least checking out their space and stopping in for a bite! You won't regret it!
For anyone looking for a unique, laid-back venue, The Twisted Tail is a perfect choice. The food is amazing and the atmosphere is really cool. We had our reception upstairs in the Juke Joint and Club Room. There is a small stage that is perfect for a band and table-top shuffleboard and darts in the club room. My guests had such a great time. Since our reception ended at 9pm, the Twisted Tail had another band come on after ours and it became open to the public so many of us stayed afterwards to hang out so no need to plan an after party! I also loved that I did not have to plan many decorations because the space really doesn't need it. Juliet was incredibly helpful and accommodating. I would definitely recommend this venue if your guest list is on the small side, you would like a relaxed, party atmosphere, and you love southern comfort food.
We hosted our rehearsal dinner and welcome reception at the Twisted Tail. The event was perfect, thanks to Juliet our coordinator. They worked with us to assemble the perfect menu to match our budget and needs. The food is incredible, the staff is quick and attentive, and they made every accommodation to allow us to decorate the place and create the perfect evening. We highly recommend the Twisted Tail!
My husband and I chose Twisted Tail club house and juke joint to host our reception party. From the first time we emailed Juliet (the event manager) a year ago till the end of the reception, everything went off very smoothly in terms of organization and was so pleasant. Juliet is amazing to work with! We chose to go with the default decor that the juke joint and the club house offered and we were very happy with the way the organizers had set up everything during the reception. The chef whipped up an awesome meal that was presented buffet style (something we wanted). The bar service was fantastic. The MC and DJ that we hired (from another company) had no problem getting set up. The dance floor and lighting was great. Our guests complimented us on the amazing food, the natural decor, and that they loved this unconventional choice of wedding reception site. Thank you Twisted tail and Juliet for a memorable reception! We highly recommend working with them!!
We love the Twisted Tail and go there fairly often, so when we were looking for a rehearsal dinner site this was an obvious choice - and that was BEFORE we knew about how amazing the Juke Joint space is upstairs. We had our rehearsal dinner there on a Friday night and ended just before they always have a live band upstairs and the area opens up to the public - so we were able to have the rest of our many out of town guests join at that point. The food was incredible and tailored to exactly what we needed - even including a Salmon carving station alongside the roast pig for guests celebrating lent. All our guests were so thrilled by the event and Juliet did a wonderful job planning it with us!
Although I grew up in Philadelphia, I haven’t lived there in 12 years and was pretty unfamiliar with the city. This made finding a unique rehearsal dinner location a challenge. We didn’t have a favorite restaurant in the city to fall back on! We chose the Twisted Tail for several reasons. It is a uniquely decorated, non-traditional private party space. We did not want to replicate the sit-down dinner our reception would have so we really liked their Southern Comfort buffet options. They also had a relatively extensive beer and wine menu for a very reasonable price. The guests loved the event, and we loved working with the staff. They were professional and very easy to work with. The contract, menu selection, and payment were all done online. I highly recommend.
We decided to go the unconventional route and have a pig roast wedding at the Twisted Tail. It was amazing. We had both floors - we had a band upstairs for the party atmosphere and kept the downstairs low-key for our older guests. We are still getting compliments about the food and the drink list. The food was incredible, and our guests were blown away by all the options for the premium open bar. The staff was wonderful - and Juliet, the event coordinator, helped us plan every detail. We dropped off a few boxes of stuff and they laid everything out beautifully for us. They even have an incredible chalk artist there who made a custom logo for us on the huge chalk board upstairs. It was exactly what we wanted and made for such a memorable night. We are 100% thrilled with our decision to have it there instead of the ballroom options we were considering. If you are looking for something memorable - book the Twisted Tail - it will be unforgettable!
First and foremost, the Twisted Tail team was responsive, accommodating, and an overall pleasure to work with from start to finish.
We rented out The Twisted Tail's second floor for our rehearsal dinner and arranged for buffet-style dining + an open bar + open seating throughout the space. The food and drink were great (we received numerous compliments), while the open seating allowed for more interaction between us and our guests. (I believe TT offers a more formal sit-down arrangement, too, but that is not what we were going for...)
The space (along with its music and decoration) is awesome -- the pictures on its website only do it partial justice -- and the fact that TT has live music on most nights only added to our Friday night experience.
We could go into much more detail about our rehearsal dinner and its specifics, but the key takeaways are that the Twisted Tail team is incredibly flexible/helpful in facilitating whatever it is that you are looking to make happen -- and they have a lot to work with in terms of the space, menu/bar options, music, etc., etc., etc.
We could not recommend the Twisted Tail more highly!
My hubby and I had a multi-cultural wedding which lasted three days. Twisted Tail was the reception venue for our American wedding and was perfect! My hubby and I are regulars at the Twisted Tail and have always been happy with the staff there. They are very accommodating and always a pleasure!
We had a really low key wedding (family only at a local BYO) then rented out the top floor of Twisted Tail for our reception to meet up with friends. They did a beautiful food spread and an open bar and everyone loved it.
The Twisted Tail ended up being the perfect location for our wedding rehearsal dinner. We were looking for a venue that was unique, had a private space, and would provide our guests with a memorable dining experience. I knew we made the right decision as soon as we started working with Danielle. From the beginning planning processes, Danielle was very helpful, and always quick to respond to my emails. On the night of our event, we had the entire upstairs to ourselves. It was a great space where our guests could mingle in a relaxed environment. We were able to plug in our own soundtrack for the evening and use the venue's microphones for a speech or two. The wait staff and bartenders were very friendly and extremely attentive. Nobody had to wait for drinks and the meal was very well-paced. We opted for the pig roast, which was a show stopper! Everyone raved about the food and presentation. There was more than enough to eat. Even the couple vegetarians in attendance had plenty to eat with the delicious mac and cheese and vegetables served as side-dishes. I also highly recommend the beignets for dessert! Perfect and easy-to-eat treat to end the night. Our guests had such a great time that many of them stayed late and continued hanging out and drinking well after the event closed. I would highly recommend the Twisted Tail for any private gathering.
