The Uptown Groove

I found this band looking online, and I was connected with Seth from Uptown Groove. He messaged me and said “Let me see what I can do, and make this happen.” Seth went above and beyond and assembled the band for me on such short notice. The band put on such a great show. The party guests and myself were blown away by the music they played, the talented singers, and professionalism. I would highly recommend this band for any of your party events.

The entire band rocked so hard that security asked us to leave at the end of the night. Several of our family and friends complimented us for the band and definitely will look to rebook for future events. Ten out of ten would recommend. They made our wedding night.

He was extremely detailed oriented going over every part of our wedding schedule multiple times prior to the wedding. They weren’t too loud either (as we requested) and even for those not dancing they enjoyed listening to them. and personal wedding planner (poor guy lol!!) but he was always more than willing to answer questions, provide insight and was always the first of any of our other vendors to get back to me. When it came closer to our wedding date, COVID hit... naturally I panicked and though everything would be ruined, but yet again, there was Seth being his optimistic self and so encouraging!! He and his band told my husband and I that they absolutely would still want to perform while providing safe distance and appropriate PPE. I almost fainted, I was so happy. Each stressor that followed was harder and harder and one of the biggest things my husband and I struggled with was our food vendor. Seth actually offered to have his wife, Michelle help out with anything we needed, including serving our Buffet for our guests to provide safe distance. Aside from all of the “extras” Seth provided, the band in itself is amazing and was a total hit. I still have people to this day telling me that our wedding was so fun and that they couldn’t believe how amazing the band was. They work to tailor what kind of music you listen to you and their voices are simply AMAZING. They were with us from beginning to end- provided live music for our ceremony at 2pm and then played at cocktail hour and played all night at our reception until like 1130. We all wanted them to just stay all night!! Lol! They picked the best songs and they interacted with all of us, making us all truly feel so special that they were there. When you hire uptown groove, you are hiring more than just a band. You are hiring friends that truly want your day to be the best. Friends that will offer help in anyway they can to make sure your day is perfect and stress free. Seth didn’t have to do any of the things I listed. He could have just agreed to bring our band and left it at that- but he didn’t, and those are the people and vendors that truly stick out and make you want to recommend them to everyone you know. Every girl getting married needs a Seth and everyone getting married needs uptown groove. They literally made my wedding so memorable despite COVID and all the crazy things that go into planning a wedding. They made my wedding absolutely perfect. I recommend this band to anyone and everyone, I promise you will not be disappointed in anyway, shape, or form :).

His guidance and experience was invaluable to us. As far as the music and the musicians went, well, they were highly talented and highly professional. I guess we expected this from a relatively established and popular band, but where were we really impressed was how tight the band was. The horn section was so impressive and so were the singers. They were all very polished. Songs ran into each other with no space between songs, just like a DJ. It was clear they knew how to keep a dance floor hopping. The songs were all very popular from both my decades (60’s and 70’s) and our daughter’s current pop/rock music. They played everything and all guests were very happy. Live music was the way to go and it ended up making the day! Seth also MC’d and DJ’d and this was great. He kept my daughter’s timeline perfect so she could relax and enjoy her day. (This helped me relax too, having the confidence that everything was going smoothly) I can’t say enough about how professional this band is. Definitely book them for your family’s wedding or private event!!!

Groove and one other band. After contacting Uptown Groove and connecting with Seth (band member+manager), the decision was made. Seth still encouraged us to come see them live at their next show and told us he would hold our date until then (beyond accommodating!) I already knew this was our wedding band based off of the videos of them on their website and my conversation with Seth, but we agreed and went to see them live. They were fantastic, and we felt even more excited about our decision. Throughout the entire process Seth was an absolute gem to work with. He was prompt, extremely detail-oriented and knowledegable. We would conenct through phone or email on a regular basis just to make sure we were on the same page and staying on top of important details before the big day. Seth was so kind and often provided so many good tips and pieces of advice along the way in regards to all things wedding day. You know, those things you never think of because this might be your first time planning a wedding! This band is filled with incredible talent, playing a wide range of music to fit your needs. They took our song requests very seriously, and created an amazing set list that included exactly what we wanted! Although from Rochester, they travelled up to Buffalo for our wedding. So, Buffalo couples, look no further! Most importantly, their skills are amazing. We had an 8 piece band and they blew us away! Choosing The Uptown Groove for our wedding was one of our best decisions. Whether you were on the floor dancing, or just sitting back in your seat because maybe dancing is not your thing, you received quite the show. As we said our hugs and goodbyes throughout the night, one of the most common things we heard was, “WHERE DID YOU FIND THIS BAND??? THEY ARE AMAZING!” Three weeks later, and we are still getting incredible feedback about the show The Uptown Groove put on at our wedding. I highly recommend them!

He is also a great emcee and works with me on the run-of-show to ensure that he is prepared and the band can deliver the best performance possible. They are one of my favorite wedding bands and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a lively band their guests will love.

Seth, the band leader, was very responsive to all my questions and made me feel very comfortable through what could have been a stressful process. The band learned a few songs by request, and they were beautifully rendered. They were very energetic and kept the dance floor packed the entire night. Our guests are still taking about them! Such a talented group of musicians! Would highly recommend them, and would definitely hire them again for holiday parties or my business' corporate events or anything where I might need a talented and flexible band!!!

to listen to the UG play at a local restaurant. Within hearing the first song we immediately knew that we needed them to play at our wedding. Throughout our year and a half of planning, Seth was ALWAYS available. He was quick to respond and was willing to meet with us as many times as we needed to get everything set for our big day. He was so well organized and had all of the logistics figured out that we would have never thought of ourselves. He's a true professional in all that he does and is so approachable. We used the UG for our entire day/ evening: ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. Our ceremony was beautiful with the guitar/ violin combo, cocktail hour was upbeat with the jazz trio, and the reception was exactly what we had hoped for. We were hoping that our guests would be having a great time and that we would have folks stay until midnight which is when we had our venue until. The band was more than willing and planned to stay this late and only took a couple of short breaks in between. With the UG as our band, we had tons of people stay until midnight as we danced the night away- even during their short breaks. The whole evening flowed perfectly with Seth leading the way. Everything was seamless! We have heard from at least one of our guests EVERY day since the wedding rave about how great our band was. If you are looking for a band for the biggest day of your life, PLEASE book the Uptown Groove. You will not be disappointed. My husband and I are beyond thankful for everything they did to make our day so special. We are also thankful for the relationship we've built with Seth and the band and are so excited that we're able to watch them play all over Rochester now and have the chance to re-live a little bit of the best day of our lives. Cannot recommend them enough!!!

Just someone to make sure the special moments all happened as planned. Seth worked with us on several special request songs and it really added to the magic of the evening. The band played the type of music we asked for and chose appropriate music during their short breaks. The dance floor was full all evening and we received positive comments from nearly every guest. “This was the best wedding we’ve been to!” was a common phrase, and we know that the live band was part of the reason. The Uptown Groove played softer music during appetizers, great instrumentals during our meal and then rocked it out all evening. Hope you check them out!

Our guests raved about the music for our wedding, it seriously made all the difference. The vocalist is amazing, the saxophone player came into the crowd to show off for us, it was truly an incredible show. They made it a point to learn the song for our first dance and it was so special. There isn't anything I would change when it came to working with Seth, he was very responsible and always willing to go over things in detail. Book them!!

Seth met with us on multiple occasions and helped us nail down every detail of anything sound-related from the ceremony mics and music, through cocktail hour and dinner and on into the reception. Seth went so far above and beyond in so many ways, we could never thank him enough. For example, we wanted to use a song for our first dance that wasn't even a recorded by the artist anywhere and had only ever been performed live at concerts. All we needed to do was get him a link to one of these performances on YouTube and he took care of not only getting the song for us to use, but cleaning it up and taking the crowd noise out of it. That's just one small example of how much he helped us in the planning of our big day. Seth and his violinist played wonderfully during our ceremony and then transitioned right into cocktail hour where the jazz trio portion of the band played music for our guests. We already started getting compliments about how great the band was and the show hadn't even started yet! There were even a few guests slow dancing along to the cocktail hour music, something I've never seen before! After Seth introduced us and we had our first dance, he switched into DJ mode and played dinner music while everyone ate. Then it was on to a few more dances and cake cutting, all musical accompaniments taken care of by Seth. The main event started after the band was AMAZING! Each member of the band is so incredibly talented...they will blow you away! They have an extensive list of songs they play that are all over the musical spectrum. Plenty of old and new material and all of the classics you'd want a band to play for dance music at a wedding! Our guests packed the dance floor and it stayed that way all night. I personally couldn't wait to get out there and dance myself, and I don't dance, in fact I pretty much stink at it but I didn't care, these guys moved me! The band played 3 sets between about 8:30pm and 12am and only took 2 very short breaks during which they played songs we had requested previously. Each time they came back to start up a new set, everyone was there to dance with them. We have received so many compliments from our guests on how amazing this band was at our wedding and how perfectly they brought the day together for us. I can't wait to go see this band again out around town and enjoy their music and relive my perfect wedding day again and again. If you are thinking of getting a band for your wedding, this is 100% the one you are looking for. They take care of everything, you get a band, a DJ and an emcee all in one and the price was absolutely reasonable. There simply is no substitute for a live band at your wedding, there simply is no substitute for The Uptown Groove. Thank you thank you thank you for an incredible experience!!!
