After a few months of reflection, I feel compelled to share my honest experience with The Venue at Wood Farms. While our wedding day was still beautiful and special, I unfortunatel...
y cannot recommend this venue based on how we were treated — and I’ve since learned that many other brides and vendors have had similar experiences.
When we toured with Hailey Laub, she was professional, kind, and wonderful to work with. We loved the family-owned & operated feel, which is why we chose it. However, once Nikki and Bianca took over correspondence as management, a few months after signing the contract, things quickly went downhill.
At the menu tasting we attended to make our selections, no one from the venue even acknowledged us as one of their booked couples. Throughout planning, I was repeatedly asked the same questions I had already answered, which made the process feel disorganized and impersonal. However, that alone could have been attributed to the change in management, which I was understanding of.
Subsequently, their management actually contacted me a few weeks before my wedding, and asked me to change one of my design selections to accommodate the bride after me. They went as as far as to tell me that her selection would look "cleaner"— an inappropriate and unprofessional request. In doing this, they circumvented my wedding coordinator- a clear choice given that she was hired to advocate for me.
Just weeks before our wedding, they informed us we’d actually need to hire someone to install our custom dance floor, even though this had already been verbally approved months earlier. When I tried to clarify with Hailey, who I originally spoke with, I was redirected back to management. Further, we learned that they had allowed other couples to set up their own light installations. We started to realize that their policies don’t apply everyone.
The worst experience came on our wedding day. While we completely understand management's presence during events, their manager stood on or beside our dance floor for most of the reception, watching guests like a supervisor. She was not dressed for the event and appears in multiple photos, making many guests uncomfortable. Additionally, the groom’s suite was locked mid-event without informing us, — completely unacceptable given that we had rented the space. Groomsmen, who were not intoxicated, were cut off at the bar for unclear reasons, with the bar staff even stating that it was not their decision . At one point, my husband (the groom) had ask for access to his belongings in the suite, the whole situation was handled poorly.
The management’s lack of professionalism, organization, and communication tainted what should have been a seamless experience. Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done to reconcile this. Brides, please be cautious.
