Best Venue Ever!! We toured around 10 places in Portland and this one was by far our favorite. The venue is so pretty that you don't need to decorate a whole lot. The staff was extremely helpful and easy to work with. Our wedding was in October so it was 50/50 on whether it would rain. Luckily when the day came even though it was raining, the venue already had a plan in place!
The venue uses their own catering which was raved about by all our guests. I highly recommend the vegan bulgogi! I would get married here all over again!

Awe thanks, Gabby! It was such a pleasure hosting you and your guests for your wedding. We're so glad you had a wonderful time with us and thank you for writing such a kind review!
We had our wedding in July of 2024 at the Belle - working with them was super easy and the venue looked gorgeous. We had lots of compliments from our guests on how cool the property was.
Pros - _The venue is extremely spacious. We had our ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing in four distinct areas. The guests could also enjoy the house as well. We had about 100 guests for reference. _There are many covered areas for rain or hot days, and the house has air conditioning and heating. Our wedding day was in the 90s and it was great to have the house so they could cool off in the AC. _The team we worked with was always quick to respond, very organized, and overall just nice people who made wedding planning less stressful. The staff onsite for our actual wedding was great too. _So many rentals and extras are included compared to other venues. It was great to not have to deal with an additional rental company and it made it such a good value too._They have a lot of room for getting ready, and two distinct areas for each spouse to have their own space and privacy.
Things to keep in mind - _The house is decorated very true to the era in which it was built, so you must appreciate old homes and style. This is definitely a pro for some people! _You need to use their catering and bar service. While the food was generally good and not expensive, it is Peruvian inspired which might not be exactly what every couple is looking for. You are able to bring in your own dessert and they cut and served our dessert free of additional charge. _You aren't allowed to bring in your own food or beverage even before the event starts / when you are getting ready which was kind of a bummer because they have a limited daytime menu.
Overall, it was such a beautiful venue to hold our wedding at! We would definitely recommend.

Thank you, Amanda, for taking the time to write such a thoughtful review! We're so glad you had a wonderful time with us and really appreciate your feedback!
Warm wishes for your future!
We used Victorian Belle for our wedding and are so glad that we did. From the beginning everyone we worked with there was helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. I loved that they have their own in house catering service and that they provide so many items like chairs, tables, cutlery. It cut down on the cost we would have had to spend on an outside caterer and party rental company. Our party had a lot of dietary needs and they were to handle them all! As someone with a gluten sensitivity, it was so amazing to have a party where I didn’t have to worry about if I could eat something because they were able to accommodate my request to make almost all food gluten free.
Everyone at Victorian Belle were also great at helping our guests stay cool during an unexpected heat wave during our wedding. There was plenty of shade and they set up misters and fans. Although the wedding itself was all outside and under covered tents and gazebos, our guests were able to go into the mansion to cool off in AC.
I would highly recommend this venue to anyone planning a wedding. I will also be looking at their event calendar moving forward for the different High Teas and performances they offer the other times of the year.

Any questions?
We can't recommend the Victorian Belle highly enough. Every staff member we interacted with was kind, accommodating, and professional, and the venue is very LGBTQ friendly. We were planning from across the country and Diana expertly juggled emails, meetings with our local family and friends, multiple tours, and all of our questions over a year and a half.
We had 130 guests and it was a good number for the space; everyone fit in the dinner tent well. The venue was gorgeous and feels private. It was great that guests could roam the full house, gazebo, and lawn. Everyone being able to choose whether they were dancing in the gazebo, playing croquet, or just sitting and chatting gave the day a magical atmosphere.
The staff was flexible and happy to accommodate our whims -- a cocktail hour before the ceremony, a jazz band, a trumpet player on the balcony, and a donut truck in the alley. The food was delicious and the chef accommodates dietary needs well. We enjoyed our choices of vegetable pasta, salmon, caesar salad, and mushroom risotto. We also tried some fantastic vegan options at our tasting. Drinks (margaritas, berry mocktail, wine + beer) were great as well.
Finally, while we had lovely weather, having full rain and heat alternatives (including AC in the house) was a huge relief during the planning process.
Thank you to the staff at the Belle for such a wonderful wedding day!

Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful review! We were so honored to host you and your wonderful family & friends! We wish you the happiest of futures!
Victorian Belle is such a wonderful location. It's not too expensive, and Diana was so amazing in helping us plan our perfect day. The chairs were all set up, the linens and cutlery and plates were set out perfectly. They cut the cake, mixed delicious drinks, the food was incredible.
And the location, THE LOCATION. It's such a beautiful venue. With gorgeous grounds.
I highly recommend Victorian Belle for your wedding (or in our case, small wedding/elopement.) It's 100% worth it.

Thank you Kelly for such a kind review! We were so happy to host you and so glad you enjoyed your experience with our events team throughout the whole planning process and your wedding day!
We wish you all the best for your marriage!
My wife and I had our wedding here in Sept 2023. I’m glad we chose them over the 20ish other places we toured. Working with Diana and Amy made the planning and the day of super easy. I was worried that our constant barrage of questions leading up to the event would get annoying, but Diana responded quickly and thoughtfully. I’m glad we also hired Kari from “Don’t Mess with the Bride” as our day of coordinator. Amy was amazing and constantly on top of the flow of the day, but it was really helpful to have a coordinator for the vendors and to keep our wedding party on schedule.
The place looked immaculate! Everything we needed was taken care of quickly. And there wasn’t even one thing I can think of that fell through the cracks. (Except for me forgetting to write my own little speech thanking our guests).
After doing the tastings we were worried that the food wasn’t going to be as great as the hype, but we brought up our concerns and they were all addressed. The food came out better than anticipated and we had lots of compliments from our vegan guests about how great the options for them were. Unfortunately with 140 guests I heard that some of them weren’t able to get the chicken because it ran out before all the tables were served. (Later I heard that some guests were going back for 2nds and 3rds before all the table had a chance to get served. Plated service would’ve prevented this).
The drinks were strong, and we got to design three signature cocktails named after our pets. We printed beautiful themed drink tickets to manage our bar bill, and ended up paying less than we had anticipated. They even made an exception for my wife and I to allow us to bring a bottle of special champagne from our engagement (with a corkage fee).
The dance floor in the gazebo was great! Large enough to fit the DJ and all of our guests with room to dance. It was an 80 degree day, and the night was in the 70s, so it would’ve been nice to have some fans moving air across the dance floor.
After the event we had a few items left at the venue and they held on to them and arranged a time to pick them up.
In all I am grateful that the Victorian Belle exceeded my expectations! I can’t wait to revisit for High Tea, and Burlesque dates.

We also really appreciate the feedback that helps us to improve our venue and catering for future weddings, so we...
thank you for sharing with us!
We wish you the best in your future together!
Everyone at the Victorian Belle was knowledgeable, helpful, and took care to make sure every detail was in place! It unexpectedly rained, and they had tents, umbrellas, and were able to relocate the ceremony into the large gazebo without any issues. It was an absolutely perfect day! I couldn't have picked a better venue for our wedding!

Hi Susie!
Thank you for your kind words! We were so honored to host you and your family & friends! We're so glad our staff took care of you and made your day perfect. We wish you all the best in your future!
We had our wedding in June of 2023. The venue was beautiful, the staff was incredible, and everything went so easily. The fact that the venue offers so much in the way of decor made clean up a breeze. Diana and the staff were incredible and saved the day when our florist forgot a basket for the flower girl.

Hi Hailey!
Thank you for your thoughtful and glowing review! We're so glad you had a lovely and smooth wedding! We're always happy to help and we wish you all the best in your future together!
The Victorian Belle was the most beautiful venue and the staff was so good. Working with Diana and the other staff was a breeze. Everyone was so supportive and so kind with2 all of my questions. Getting ready in the bridal suite was a dream. We ended up having sudden rain and the crew was so good about moving the ceremony into the gazebo. Could not recommend more.

Hi Jessica!
Thank you for such a kind review! We're so glad you loved the venue and our staff! We wish you the absolute best in your future!
Dream come true, this venue speaks for its self. The house truly is a time capsule, full of beautiful details that enhanced our wedding. The staff were amazing and the food was delicious. Thank you for helping us celebrate our day!

Thank you, Jennifer! We were so honored to host you for your wedding and we appreciate you taking the time to leave us such a glowing review!
We recently had our wedding here, and it was the most magical day! The venue is so beautiful- we easily had 160 people there. We had a ceremony in one part of the garden, dinner in the other part, and then a live band in the gazebo for dancing.
They have their own kitchen, and the food was amazing! It was also one less vendor to coordinate.
The people who work there are all fantastic, and they were super accommodating with covid issues that made us reschedule 4 times.
We also had afternoon tea here one sunday and that was really fun too!

I'm a wedding planner, which means I work with a lot of different venues. Usually, I don't write them reviews but I'm making an exception for The Victorian Belle because Kylie and her team were just that good.
The Belle team really went above and beyond for a wedding we worked together in May 2022, putting in countless hours before the wedding to get up-to-speed and showing up with positive energy and hard work on the actual day.
I was impressed by everyone I encountered on staff, from the main venue lead to the newest employees on the catering team. All were eager to help, kind, and excited to celebrate the couple and their guests.
That's notable and I felt worthy of a review so thanks, Team Victorian Belle! I appreciate you.

Thanks, Elisabeth! We loved working with you at our venue! You are fabulous at what you do and we look forward to collaborating on future events with you at the Victorian Belle!
I am really upset to leave this review. Initially my now husband and I were supposed to get married a week after Oregon announced its lockdown for COVID, however the Belle decided to cancelled our wedding date leaving us to scramble 9 months before our available date.
When we tried to sign the contract, they had just fired their manager so things were scattered, however, we loved the atmosphere and pushed forward. Then we had 2 coordinators before our day - neither of whom kept or passed along our notes. Then after postpone and having another 2 coordinators from the Belle (who they did not communicate had left and been assigned new ones), we requested to work with a manager (the coordinators were very nice, but it was hard to get anyone to respond to us and we were looking for consistency and communication).
We found a new date and took time off to go there and re-sign the contract only to find no one there when we arrived. 45 mins and multiple calls later, we finally get ahold of someone telling us Bennett (who we could hear in the background) would call us directly. He had his secretary call us. And while she was very kind, it was completely inappropriate to send her to call, as we were expecting him. We told her while we appreciated her reaching out, it was his job to call us and he needs to email us to find time to reschedule.
Instead they emailed to cancel our contract and offer us part of our money back (~$4k). Only part because they didn't keep accurate records of our transactions. We had to search and find them (accurate total was over $9k).
In short, it's a beautiful location, but you cannot count on them to communicate, follow through, keep accurate notes or transaction data, or even have the same person to talk to. I'm so glad we had a different venue who were able to deliver a worry-free wedding. Something I definitely couldn't count on from the Victorian Belle.
Run. Far away.

Thank you for your time in providing us with feedback. We are sorry your experience with us was negative. You were understandably frustrated with a number of things: planning a wedding in 2019 for March of 2020, only to have the COVID pandemic ...
postpone your celebration to 2022. During that time span, we did experience staff changes as we, like many small businesses, were closed and unable to retain a significant portion of our staff. We lost some valuable employees to other states and careers. We have also gained a number of talented and caring individuals of whom we are very proud. Undoubtedly while planning your wedding, you felt the weight of the pandemic's unknown duration as well as lack of communication about your very special day. We apologize for our missed steps!
Weddings are some of the most important experiences of our lives and we sincerely hope yours was beautiful and joyous. Congratulations and best wishes for a happy marriage!
Need to set the stage- both are HUGE customer service snobs. High expectations but simple to basically deliver on what you promise.
The team at VBM came through and delivered above and beyond.
I cannot thank the team for honestly delivering something like they would to their own blood- I felt taken care of like family.
If you are shopping for a venue...you found it!
We lovedddddd this venue! Love the landscape and house! After a few management speed bumps, what we had for our day were amazing people! My only complaint is that 7.5 hours is just not enough time to have all the traditional events (short and sweet ceremony, first dance, special dances, flower toss, garter, cake cutting, ect.) plus getting all the professional photos and a chance to eat the delicious food!
Our 50th Vow Renewal is in June and we booked the Belle last year. During that time the Belle changed management and the place was in disarray. I was heart broken to see this wonderful house in disrepair. We met with Taylor, the new manager and she outlined what needed to be done to get it ready for all the planned events, including ours. Needless to say I was very concerned as I looked at the mud and destroyed grass on the grounds etc.. We came back for the event planning with her and the staff and during that time they had torn up the lawn, leveled it and placed sod. It was beautiful. Other clean up was done and Doug the Special Project Manager told us what else would be done by the time of our event. We then proceeded to the menu tasting, with the new chef and his staff. The food was delicious and presentation was lovely. We left feeling so much better and I told Taylor that I am so totally amazed on the transformation in such a short time. It shows that she and her staff love the Victorian Belle and want her guests to experience the beauty that it can offer. I will post another review after our event. Thank You Taylor.
The Victorian Belle is the perfect wedding venue! We had such an amazing experience. We loved that it is not only a gorgeous setting, but that they do the catering as well. We were so happy that they took care of the set-up and breakdown of tables, chairs, linens, etc. The staff is so helpful, accommodating, and kind. Joe (director), Jessica (day of coordinator), and Jeff (chef) were all quick to answer questions, assist in any way possible, and help us have a beautiful, stress-free wedding day. They went above and beyond to make sure we had a perfect experience. For example, they provided vegan dishes for some of our guests, and hunted down the mother-of-the-groom’s lost glasses. Our guests continue to comment on how gorgeous the Victorian Belle was, and they really enjoyed exploring the inside of the house as well as the amazing grounds. We would definitely recommend the Victorian Belle!
Fabulous wedding venue for my daughter’s wedding today. Jessica and her staff planned everything perfectly and I cannot recommend this place highly enough! The food is delicious, the grounds as well as the well- maintained Victorian house are incredible, the staff makes the whole day run smoothly, all because they care about making it the perfect day for the bride and groom. Extremely reasonable pricing for all that we got. There were no complaints at all and the entire guest list had a great time here today.
Victorian Belle is a gorgeous place! We got married two weeks ago and our guests continues to rave about how beautiful the venue was. It is such a romantic atmosphere and most people felt it was a hidden gem. You won't be disappointed with pictures at this place!
Jessica (day of coordinator) and Joe (director) helped us from the beginning. They were both fantastic, not only at their job, but also very personable. We felt comfortable emailing them questions and they were quick to respond as well. Jessica made notes of every detail and even suggested a few ideas we didn't even think of. She was the sweetest and offered to help us in anyway possible.
Their in house chef Jeff is AMAZING! His homemade croutons are one of the best we've ever had. It was perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Almost everything we tasted were so yummy, it made it difficult to decide what to serve at our wedding. Fantastic job!!
Victorian Belle's entire staff went beyond our expectations, from making sure everything went smoothly, to the wait staff, and the bartender. Everyone was so nice and helpful, our wedding couldn't have gone any better than this!
We had the most perfect wedding day at the Victorian Belle! The staff worked so hard to make sure everything was perfect! We wouldn’t have had our wedding at any other place. Joe (director), Jade (day of coordinator), and Chef Jeff were great and so wonderful to coordinate with, which was critical since we had to plan the wedding from out of state. Have your wedding here and you won’t be disappointed! ❤️
I just got married at the Victorian Belle and could not have asked for a better experience! The venue, first of all, is amazing! The rooms that we used to get ready before the ceremony are the most spacious and beautiful out of all of the venues we looked at. Our guests really enjoyed exploring the house and the beautiful gardens. The food was delicious (cooked right in the kitchen the day of so the house smelled wonderful)! The whole wedding was orchestrated beautifully. Jessica and Joe did an outstanding job making sure everything went to plan and even when there were slight hiccups, they worked them out seamlessly! I could not be happier! I have never planned an event like this and they really helped me cover all of my bases. Thank you, Victorian Belle!
I was not pleased by the way that Jade the wedding planner acted or treated my guest and myself (with attitude). My overall experience was beautiful the place was amazing. Joe was outstanding. And was nice the entire time.
I went with my friend to check out this venue earlier this year as she was considering getting married here. They were great with the tour and answered all of our questions. They were accommodating with options, and the house and grounds are beautiful. My friend ended up having her wedding here and I was one of the bridesmaids. From the perspective as a wedding party member, the staff were great and super knowledgeable. They clearly had done events dozens of times because they had great input, feedback, and general direction. Attendees I talked to thought the space was beautiful, and thought the food was delicious! They also loved that everything was on the same property - the ceremony, the cake cutting, the reception etc. Most weddings I have been in or attended have required everyone to go from one location to another - I also appreciated that wasn't the case at VB. Everything went perfectly for my friends big day. I would definitely recommend VB to others, and if a wedding every becomes a possibility in my future I would consider having it here as well. Thanks VB staff - we had a great time!
I'm not a wedding venue expert as this was my first and only wedding, but getting married at Victorian Belle was like a fairy tale. I initially went to look at the venue but did not think it was in my price range. However, Joe, the event director, went over different options with me, and I found out getting married during the week and off season meant I could have my dream wedding at the Belle and stay within my budget. In regards to communications, Joe and my wedding planner, Jade, always got back to me within the same day. Let's face it; having a wedding is expensive. But if you can swing it and have a venue that provides a wedding planner and most everything is included, it's well worth it! I couldn't imagine having to coordinate it all myself because as a bride, you are supposed to just enjoy your day! And that was the case with Victorian Belle on my wedding day. Several of my guests said it was the most beautiful and fun wedding they ever attended- no joke! The entire event went off without a hitch other than some wardrobe malfunctions that had nothing to do with the Belle. Lastly, as a vegan, I was told that vegan food was possible, and the chef made some amazing dishes and at the price point that worked for my budget. Several omnivores mentioned they loved the food, especially the gnocchi with the squash and coconut cream sauce - that dish was a home run. I honestly can't think of anything to criticize. I will recommend this venue to friends . It was lovely getting married outside of this gorgeous Victorian house that is impeccably maintained both inside and out. Then the grounds surrounding are just beautiful. Even in October, there were hydrangeas and other flowers in bloom, which provided a lot of color and beauty. Because of the sheer beauty of the venue, I spent next to nothing on decor; it just wasn't necessary.
Control freak or not, this venue will take care of your needs, wishes, desires, etc as long as you keep an open line of communication.
Thank you Joe, Jade, and other staff for making my wedding day a fun, non-stressful day where I could just enjoy myself and my guests.
I have zero regrets or hesitations about having my reception of 289 guests at the Victorian Belle. Everyone enjoyed the venue so such. There was plenty of space for a ceremony, 29-30 tables, space for guest photos, a photo booth, 4 buffet lines, a dance floor, and more. The house was amazing and people really enjoyed the pool table area on the upper floor. As the bride, I had a roomy private area for outfit changes.
Leading up to our wedding date, Joe and Jade answered all my questions and were very assuring that thing would go smoothly - they did not disappoint ! Joe, Jade, and the whole Victorian Belle crew were working it and made the reception a success! Thank you guys so much!
We absolutely loved the Victorian Belle from the beginning. There were a few miscommunications at first, but they made sure to make it up in other ways. Joe was great about answering questions and ensuring everything went smoothly on the day. Jade and Jessica also helped during the reception to fulfill our vision of the evening. The catering is all in house and the food was delicious! Jeff helped us cater to a number of guests with allergies or vegan preferences. The grounds are beautiful as is and nearly everything is included from linens to tables and dishes (we did end up renting a tent in addition). This made the planning much less stressful as they had everything we needed in house and took care of all set up and breakdown. Ours guests loved the uniqueness of the venue and everything turned out stunning! Definitely a special spot for any occasion.
We had our wedding at Victorian Belle and it was absolutely amazing! Laura and Joe were great and extremely helpful throughout the whole process. The venue was beautiful and looked exactly as described. The weather changed up on us last minute, and they were very helpful in making arrangements to adjust and prepare for it. We were married in the gazebo, which was perfect for the weather and the number of guests we had. I would highly recommend the Victorian Belle! Thanks Joe and Laura!
The victorian Belle was absolutely amazing so accommodating and easy to work with. Joe responds to emails so fast and answered all of my questions even if it was 2am! The food was great I've had a lot of people tell they enjoyed the food and that it had been the most elegant wedding they had ever been to. Easy choice!
We just had our wedding at Victorian Belle last month and it was wonderful. So happy with the memories made at this venue.
The Victorian Belle was gorgeous in the springtime and perfect for a Saturday afternoon wedding. We had our wedding ceremony in the gazebo and the reception on the lawn and it was perfect. However, it was comforting to know that Laura had alternate plans ready in case of rain- that really put me at ease.
We had a brunch and the food was sooo good- the chef did an amazing job and really worked to come up with a menu we could all agree on. I cannot recommend this chef enough.
Joe and Laura were so helpful and made the entire wedding process easy. They made sure things were running smoothly on the day of the wedding and made life easier during the planning process. I am very thankful for all of their hard work.
FYI---- I was nervous reading the previous reviews about the Queen Anne Victorian Mansion when we went to look at the place. It has a new name, The Victorian Belle, because it is under completely different ownership and these people are ROCKSTARS.
We can't say enough nice things about the Victorian Belle and the staff there. From the beginning, Joe and Laura made us feel so welcome and at home. Through the whole experience they were quick to respond and make us feel reassured in our nerves pre-wedding. We actually had a whole plan in place to do the wedding fully outdoors and utilize the gorgeous venue completely. However, due to this bi-polar Portland weather, it ended up raining the weekend of our wedding and we had to change plans. Laura was quick to do so and reassured us throughout. We were so nervous but they made us feel like everything would be AMAZING, and it was. :) This venue is gorgeous and our guests have told me how wonderful it was over and over again. The wrap around porch was perfect to host our bar. They even included smores in our package when we booked, which made a fun addition to our dessert table!
The chef was wonderful, creating dairy free pasta for us that was beyond delicious. Our guests left raving about the food! So good (even if I only got a few bites between talking to people).
The house itself has the best hangout spaces to get ready. We wish we could have utilized it even more than we did, as it gets pricey to add on extra hours to hang out there in the morning, but the time that we did have was perfect. The space for the ladies to get ready was spacious, as well as the grooms quarters! They even have a pool table in the groom's quarters. I was jealous. Haha. The guys said they had fun up there waiting for us to get ready. I appreciated that the men's and women's spaces were separated so we couldn't see each other until we were ready. All the architecture and design of the Victorian Belle made beautiful pictures, and those cafe lights hung throughout the venue were a dream.
The staff is so friendly and quick to make you feel at home. Joe and Laura took full interest in our wedding, and in us as people. They aren't just there to do business, but to do it well and with so much heart.
I literally can't say enough about our experience here. It was a dream and we would recommend it to anyone looking for a venue in North Portland that is right off the freeway but feels like a secluded wonderland when you step in.
Thanks guys! We SO SO SO appreciate you making our wedding that much more wonderful.
We chose The Victorian Belle for it's unique & beautiful atmosphere as well as the great location in Portland. We were also very excited that they cook all their own food onsite (current chef used to work at Portland City Grill), they have their own day of coordinator, the gazebo & walkway are covered (just incase it rained) and all linens (with different color options for napkins), tables, white chairs, glasses, plates etc. are included. With such a beautiful location I only needed a handful of decorations! Which makes wedding planning so much easier.
Both Joe & Laura were very responsive with all the questions I had during the process and sent emails to remind me when certain decisions had to be made. They were ROCKSTARS on the day of the wedding and made sure everything went smoothly. I did not have one thing to worry about! There were things I didn't even ask them to do but they just got it done. This was extremely helpful as I was able to experience my wedding day stress free and soak it all up.
The FOOD! It was simply delicious. Do not pass up on the shrimp & fruit cup appetizer and the mac 'n cheese. The salmon and chicken were perfectly cooked and not dry at all. The vegetables were fresh. The salads had a great combination of flavors. The chef truly takes a lot of pride in his work. Also, they let you take the leftovers home! They do not let anything go to waste.
I HIGHLY recommend The Victorian Belle for any special event. They provide a truly unique and beautiful experience that we will treasure for the rest of our lives.
p.s. There is a pool table in the grooms room. At every other establishment I visited the groom kind of gets forgotten, but not here. They have a fantastic area to hang out in while getting dressed and waiting for the festivities to begin.
I LOVE the Victorian Belle! I had my bridal shower there in June of 2015. It was an elegant tea and everyone had a nice time. The quiches, cakes, and pastries were amazing and made it really fun. I loved the venue so much, I decided to book my client party there this December (2015). Again, Laura and Joe hit it out of the park. They venue was spectacular and all of my clients had the best time. It is a beautiful venue and the staff is amazing. The prices are a great value for what you get. I am already booking them for my client party in 2016.
My husband and I were recently married at the Victorian Belle at the end of May 2015. We had a fusion Indian and American wedding. The Victorian Belle was quite enthusiastic, responsive and accommodating for the various needs that were required for an Indian wedding. They have a beautiful house and a wonderful large gazebo that can be converted into an indoor or open air space, holding about 130 people. It was an easy choice for us.
You cannot beat the Queen Anne for garden beauty. And they have everything pre-lit. You really don't need to decorate much, especially for an evening wedding. I wouldn't have had my wedding anywhere else. It was the perfect ethereal summer evening.
They require you use their catering, which I found limiting, but that said, they provide everything .. tables, linens, serve-ware ... it's really an excellent deal and a day-of coordinator. I paid extra to have more time for set up.
The backdrop is spectecular, the name says it all, it's a beautiful victorial style mansion with a huge, beautiful garden.
There's a big gazebo that fits up to 200? guests in case it rains, and the whole place is lit up with hundreds of twinkly fairy lights.
It's a dream venue. The venue comes with a day off wedding coordinator too.
The catch: You HAVE to use their catering, their bar and that's how they are making their money.
BUT, the food is DELICIOUS and I felt their beer and wine was reasonably priced. It's just something to account for in your budget.
Disappointing: We had the venue booked until 11pm and they started cleaning up the tables at 9.30pm. That is not ok and I'll still have to talk to the manager about this. It was a real turnoff. That's why I'm knowing off a whole star. It puts a damper on the whole experience.
The owner (Deb) of the Queen Anne Victorian Mansion (QAVM) is dishearteningly unbearable to work with. I wish we had seen the numerous bad reviews prior to booking the QAVM for our wedding as we would have taken a much different approach to working with Deb through the process. It’s unfortunate that the experience with Deb is this excruciatingly painful as the grounds are so beautiful and provide a wonderful atmosphere for what could be a dream wedding. Every person in our wedding party that interacted with her (even the nicest, sweetest of our friends/family who were determined to “win-her-over” and have a positive interaction no matter what) have commented on how horrible she was to work with.
I don’t feel it’s necessary to detail out everything that went wrong, but overall this is what we experienced:
1. Rules change frequently depending on Deb’s mood. One day or minute she will tell you one thing and the next day/minute her rules have already changed. The contact was merely a “loose guideline” and several “house rules” made an appearance throughout the process that we didn’t know about initially (and always seemed to serve Deb’s wavering habits).
2. Deb is extremely unprofessional in written and verbal correspondence. I’m still flabbergasted by some of the things she thought were alright to write/say to me, our family, our friends, and our guests. She is also unreliable in responses to questions/inquiries. It took several follow-up attempts and often would take weeks to get an answer.
3. Deb is over controlling. We had to describe in miniscule detail every minor thing we wanted to do with decorations, etc. Her reaction to our normal plans was oddly irregular and improper. Without being there the day of to decorate, we wouldn’t ultimately know in detail what would look best or what decisions would need to be made. These were merely ideas for our decorating team to utilize.
4. The inclusion of their “wedding coordinator” was one of the selling pieces for us at the mansion. However, we were actually forbidden to correspond with her until the rehearsal dinner or day of our wedding. We were also told the coordinator couldn’t make any decisions. It is hard to properly prepare a coordinator that you can’t talk to before the event. (The coordinator was actually very nice.)
5. Although the grounds are overall beautiful, the white fences are moldy and the roofs of the house, gazebos, and white tents are covered in a plethora of debris which is highly unattractive.
6. Several items that were discussed and agreed upon to happen on the day of the wedding, DIDN’T. Deb is very unorganized and items had to be discussed/answered multiple times.
As a bride/groom, you want your experience with your vendors to be precise, easy, and stress free. This portion of our wedding experience added SO much stress it was horrendous! The only way we could handle it was with help from our friends and family who shielded us from Deb’s craziness (oh the stories we have heard afterwards…).
If you are set on having the QAVM as your wedding venue – PLEASE proceed with caution and be sure to have EVERYTHING in writing. Be prepared to be very flexible as Deb changes her mind frequently and it will put wrenches into your plans (even on the day of your wedding). Please learn from our experience – it will at least be something positive that comes from it!
I loved this venue with all my heart. The place was so beautiful. We had our wedding mid September and it rained. We rented a tent and the Queen Anne decorated the inside like a fairy tale. The food was wonderful and place was just perfect. I had many people mention this to be the most beautiful wedding they had ever attended, I had to agree. The place is wonderful. I heard many people including my mother how rude the staff was to her. I did not have much interaction the day of so I can't confirm. But the fact I heard many people express the same concern, so I'm sure it was valid. It did not ruin my day and it was wonderful.
I got married Aug 2011...The mansion was beautiful but the owner was innapropriate and rude to me (the bride) on my wedding day. While I was waiting for my dad to come get me to walk down the isle (minutes before I was to be married) Deb the owner chose this time to approach me about hard alcohol in my dressing room. So instead of me walking down the isle excited to see my soon to be husband I was telling my dad about what happened, super stressed. She took my moment away from me and I will never get it back...I think about it daily. I have never in my life wrote a review but I just cant get over this. Now I will say maybe she did previously tell me no alcohol was allowed BUT my Bridesmaids did bring it in AND it was the last thing on my mind!! Deb should not have approached me before walking down the isle...she could have found a better time or just talked to my wedding party NOT the bride.
I also had the worst coordinator assigned, I cant remember her name because I really never spoke with her. (Purple hair is all I remember) Can not for the life of me figure out what it is she does?? But returning calls/texts was not part of her job since she has a day job and made it clear I was not a priority! Thank god for an awesome DJ that did her job for her!! He made sure everything was taking care of including making sure we (bride/Groom) ate and kept asking if I needed anything. BTW..Frank from Bust a Move is the BEST DJ ever and made my wedding!!!
We met with Deb a week before our wedding to discuss what we wanted and I am not sure why since she didn't listen to a thing we said. We wanted the over flow seating in the yard so when people came late it wouldnt interupt the wedding but when I walked down the isle she had out the seats in the ISLE ouside the gazebo (looked way TACKY)! She didn't have the beers at the bar we requested INCLUDING the GROOMS favorite beer (that he had been drinking in his room getting ready). Also the bar RAN out of beer at our wedding...so no one could order beer the last 1 1/2 hr of the wedding. A few other things: We were suppose to have unlimited lemonaid but we never saw that. The glass was not suppose to be in the Gazebo but it was. No one was suppose to be allowed up into my room and Deb said she would make sure of that...and Sooo many guests made there way up and saw me in my dress before walking down the isle a couple even saw me in my bra while getting ready. Grrrr...I could go on but I am just getting upset thinking about it. Good Luck to you Bride's if you get married here. Watch out for Deb and Purple hair!!
Overall, I was very very pleased to have our wedding reception here. The grounds are simply stunning. It is so beautiful there. It makes for a photographer's heaven, there are so many photo opportunities. The house is so charming with all of its victorian details. The white gazebo made it absolutely amazing. I believe it's an 42 ft gazebo so it can be used for multiple things (wedding ceremony, dinner, or dancing). Since we got married somewhere else, we used it for dancing and it was very nice. One of the major things I liked about this venue was even though it was very pretty naturally, Deb (owner) will let you come out and decorate. It was nice to be able to go on the property and add a personal touch (special for our wedding).
The reception dinner was set up outside and the food was really good! :) We had pasta with red and white sauces, garlic bread and salad. It was a simple dish but very good (since it was hot outside).
Deb (the owner of the place) is very nice. She was VERY helpful and did whatever she could to make our day amazing. Once it got closer to the wedding, she will have a day of wedding coordinator to help everything stay on schedule. Depending on the time of year, I know this place books up. My one negative thing I would have to say is because we had our reception at such a busy time of the year, sometimes it would take her a while to get back to me via email/phone. However, when the day came, everything was amazing and simply PERFECT! :)
It was just what we wanted when we booked the place but the owner is a little strange and she has promised that the trim was going to be redone with the same colors but wasn't...She didn't listen to much of what I said I wanted for the day of which was upsetting but the place it's self was beautiful. Just wish I didn't have to deal with the owner.
The QAVM was great. The house and the courtyard suited my garden wedding theme. I made a lot of my own decorations for the day, so it add a wonderful personal touch. If you leave it to them to do your decorations you will get just that plain and simple. Deb the owner was great to us and let me create my own vision. The food was good and Kiki our coordinator was on point and friendly. I had the most amazing wedding there, you just have to be willing to do some extra work.
The antiquity of the house, the well maintained yard, the details - all of it was incredible! Theere are so many lights, and it creates wonderful photos. Deb - the owner - was absolutely fabulous and worked with us more than any other person probably would have! The food was prepared by Deb, and was amazing! We had it the next morning too, before our flight, and I couldn't have asked for a better "breakfast" :). You cannot find a better value for your money either - if you only have 100 people like we did, you can do a wedding for under 7500 - and that is for an evening ceremony! I can't wait to be there at a special anniversary to celebrate all over again!
Beautifully decorated inside and out. Large outdoor area for wedding and reception. Adding on tents for summer wedding ended up being a must since we had a surprise rain shower. Beautiful in the bridal room for getting ready. Gorgeous photo oppurtunities in garden with many flowers and fountains throughout the property.
The Queen Ann Mansion was so beautiful we couldn't of asked for a better background for our wedding, and the staff there was amazing too they helped us so much, i don't know how we would of done it with out them. and the food was OH SO GOOD! we are suggesting them to everyone!
We visited just about every Victorian Mansion in Portland and nearby areas and found this one to best fit our vision and the bill. They are a tad cheaper than others when it comes to the rental of the venue and catering. It will be worth your while to make an appointment to get a tour and information on their prices and services so that you can compare them with other places you're considering. They have their own catering that you have to use, but the food is actually really good. Also, they charge 15% gratuity instead of 17%-20% that I've seen while hunting for venues. This place is very well decorated and they have some simple centerpieces you can use - so if you want to spend little to no money on decorations, this place will accommodate you. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and they really try to work with you. Now, we did get an extra $20 tacked on to our bill because someone snuck in a flask of whiskey, so warn your friends/family (or just don't get caught). The rental of the venue includes 6 hours and you'll have to pay about $200-$300 per hour for additional time, so if you have a vision of getting ready there and taking hours of photos at the venue, expect your budget to hike. Hidden fees: $300 mandatory cleaning fee; 15% mandatory food and alcohol gratuity; $100 optional rehearsal; $200-$300 per additional hour that's beyond 6 hours - but to tell you the truth, every venue has those "hidden fees" so read your packet carefully before you make any decisions no matter who you decide to go with. I paid total about 5-6K to this venue for 95 guests which did not include a dress rehearsal, we only did 1 entree meal (it was plenty of food), our wedding was on a Sunday which was cheaper and we didn't go over our allocated 6 hours. Overall, if I had to do my wedding over again, I would still pick this place.
