The Walk-ins

of the Walk-ins provided wonderful entertainment during the cocktail hour, dinner, and the rest of the reception. They are easy to work with, and we HIGHLY recommend the Walk-ins for weddings!

I worked with Joe to create a list of songs that we liked so he knew and understood our music style. Joe helped with the ceremony, introduced us at the reception and MCed the night. You can upgrade your package to include a female singer, a horn section and even a photo booth machine. We went with the horns and photo booth and they were both a hit with our guests. Going with The Walk-Ins for our wedding band made things really easy and super fun!

Joe was willing to create a custom package to fit our budget which I really appreciated and I didn’t see many vendors offer that when researching wedding bands. Since our wedding in August, I have been to 3 others in the last month, and our wedding music was hands down the best, which is all due to the Walk-Ins. I received so many compliments of how fun our wedding was and how the music was excellent. Guests who I expected to leave early, ended up staying until the very end of the reception because they were having such a fun time dancing. Joe enjoys singing during dinner and that was a special touch to the reception that really enhanced the evening. I have never been to a wedding where the band performs during dinner, so I really appreciated how the Walk-Ins went above and beyond to create a fun and memorable atmosphere for our guests. Would highly recommended booking for a wedding!

I stopped Joe multiple times throughout the night to have him make announcements for me and he made it so seamless and natural. He was also a wonderful MC for the toasts and announcements. was really easy to work with and charged a VERY reasonable amount for our wedding. They are teachers by profession so only do weddings on the side, so they don't rely on weddings for their salary and therefore charge less. The band played acoustic during our cocktail hour. When the night got going, our guests were up dancing all night long! Definitely recommend The Walk-ins!

I knew immediately that I wanted them to perform at my wedding. I loved the cocktail hour music they played (they can play a really wide variety of music!) and I have never been to a wedding before where people were dying to get on the dance floor even before dinner. Besides the music being spectacular on our big day, Joe was very professional and met with my husband and I a few times before the wedding to go over details, timing, and music. He assured me I didn’t need a wedding planner. He vowed that he would take care of all the timing and he lived up to everything he said he would do. Joe planned the timeline for the night. Everything ran so smoothly the whole night! Joe is very easy to work with. He listens to exactly what you like and don't like, and he caters to exactly how you want your wedding to be.

Joe also worked with the hotel staff to keep the timing on schedule and kept me in the loop. He told me that if there were any issues, he would take care of it. If there were any, I had no clue! They kept the dance floor full with all the best songs! All I had to do was tell them our taste in music and a few of our must plays, and the band just made the night a party! Our guests are still talking about how much they loved then band, and other brides-to-be at the wedding wanted their contact information! My parents weren't sure about getting a live band at first (my family had never had one at a wedding), so I took them to see one of The Walk-Ins shows. Not only did they LOVE the band, when asked about the wedding, my dad would immediately talk about how great the band was going to be...nothing about his only daughter getting married...they are THAT good! I cannot recommend The Walk-ins enough! These guys rock! They went above and beyond, and I can't thank them enough!!

We set up a time to watch their gig (a special 50 min trip away for us) and totally loved them (they are a legitimately awesome band). We talked with the lead singer/manager during a break and said YES! We had a verbal agreement and handshake deal and started telling our friends and family that we found the wedding band! Then things turned sour. Joe did not answer our emails or phone calls for three and a half weeks. I can’t make this clear enough. Radio silence for a full month. Then he called to say they had another couple that they had “paperwork” out with but hadn’t committed until recently. And they were waiting to see their decision before honoring our agreement. At the end of the day, I get it. But they kept us on the line for almost FOUR WEEKS while they figured out their schedule — all the while we were thinking we had our wedding band finalized. It was unprofessional to not communicate with us about the situation. And, to be honest, it was the only part of wedding planning that I cried about. So. Overall. Good band. Terrible professionalism.

k-ins perform at my friend's 'wedding several years before I met my now husband. They MADE her wedding! Throughout dinner, Joe would walk around the tables singing and chatting with all of the guests. He would even sit down at your table and have an entire conversation with you during an instrumental break, and pick the song right back up without missing a beat. As a wedding guest, I couldn't wait to get out on the dance floor with them. And, once we did, they did not disappoint. The dance floor was packed until the very last note was played. Shortly after my friend's wedding, I moved to Seattle where I met my husband. After much debate, we decided to get married in Chicago. The Walk-ins were a major factor in that decision. As soon as we had a date set, I immediately contacted The Walk-ins. I called them before any other arrangements had been made. Had they been unavailable, I probably would have changed my date. I HAD to have them! I talked them up so much, my fiance' let me hire them without ever meeting them, let alone hearing them perform. Of course, they made our wedding as well. Joe is presence every bride needs on her wedding day. He is calm, helpful, and really knows what he's doing. It's true what they say about the day being an absolute whirlwind, but Joe helped us through every step of the way. He had everything timed perfectly, and would explain everything we needed to do when the time had come. He was very good about explaining things twice and emphasizing the important things to know when we were getting pulled in a million directions and couldn't think straight anymore. He was constantly telling me to let him worry about this and that. With no wedding planner, I don't know what I would have done without him. I can't thank The Walk-ins enough for making my wedding day such a huge success. The guests loved them. Even a member of the catering staff said they were the best wedding band she had ever seen, and she has been in the wedding business for 35 years. I will find another reason to hire them in the future, or crash all of their future weddings, maybe both!

classiest rendition of Journey you've ever heard - it really set an incredible mood for the night. They surprised us by learning our sort of obscure acoustic first dance song in 3 days --- and it was perfect... A totally memorable surprise. They kept the party going from the get-go and people never left the dance floor. They even helped with a serenade song from the groom to the bride -- so much fun! Everyone who was there raved about what an awesome time they had --- including the venue coordinator who was blown away by them. Beyond all that, Joe MC'd and coordinated the schedule for the whole dinner and reception to make sure everything ran smoothly and nothing was forgotten. We're trying to figure out another party we can throw and have the Walk-Ins play -- they were honestly a BLAST! We love you guys!

On the day of the wedding, he provided kind words to help calm my nerves, and had suggestions for how to help the day run more smoothly. If there were any hiccups to the flow of the day, it was barely perceptible, because Joe and the rest of the band rolled with us, and kept the party moving. They even x suggested we do a fun “speed photo” thing where Mike and I ran from table to table, with our photographer in tow; taking pictures with each group of guests, racing to get it done in one song. We spoke with him a few different times about the music we like, our song choices, and the flow of the night. He was very helpful and always fun to talk with. He was a great MC on the night of our wedding as well, so we truly could be guests at our own wedding and I didn't need to worry about any of the logistics. The band went above and beyond to personalize our wedding music to our requests, and even allowed my cousin to play guitar with them for one of my favorite songs, "Purple Rain." It created a great moment for family and friends that will forever be unique to our wedding. I truly cannot say enough good things, as The Walk-ins made our wedding unforgettable and everyone had the best time! I'm so glad we had them as a part of our special day.

AND IS THE ABSOLUTE X-FACTOR in planning and executing a party. Most all of these live bands/DJs on these websites are very talented and probably a good time to listen and dance to. Beyond that, the comparisons stop and THEY CAN'T DELIVER WHAT JOE MATISE AND HIS BOYS ARE CAPABLE OF. The Walk-Ins aren't phased by your last minute requests and they can shift their plan on a dime. Got a song that absolutely needs to be included in the set and there's only an hour before reception? Consider it done. Want to have the band take a back seat and grab the mic to guest sing on any number of songs? They prefer it. Need to bring your barely musically inclined family members up for a random song but you need to borrow the drummer and bass player? They'll make you look like rock stars. Need all of the guests seated immediately and suddenly need several announcements made about this and that? They've done it a thousand times and they'll make it look like it was planned the whole time. THIS BAND HAS AN EXCEPTIONAL UNDERSTANDING OF THE CONSTANTLY CHANGING FLOW AND MOOD OF ANY GIVEN PARTY, AND THEY UNDERSTAND HOW TO CATER AND SHIFT TO THE NEEDS OF SAID PARTY. A couple of things if you aren't already convinced. We're hiring this band for my 30th birthday party because we've still kept in touch. Joe and his band mates are super personable and just great dudes to be around. Also, this band charges an EXTREMELY reasonable rate... it's actually laughable. These guys love what they do and have been doing it for awhile; you can also tell they love playing together. When you have that rather than a stage full of guns-for-hire, you've got an absolutely killer atmosphere. You're. Welcome.

We had them doing it all - ceremony music, cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing. You hardly even knew when the band took a break and the DJ music started. I would recommend these guys to anyone and everyone.

I would recommend adding the horns/female vocals to your package - it really took the sound to the next level. It may take a little bit to get in touch, but once you do, it's 100% worth it! Talk about bang for your buck - and the QUALITY. We had guests tell us that they thought he was karaoke-ing at first! Haha. He has a wonderful voice and a wonderful range. We can't speak highly enough of Joe and the Walk In's - something that is especially fun about them is that this is a side gig for them. This is just something that they enjoy doing on the side, and it really SHOWS how much they enjoy it. That being said, don't expect to receive same day e-mail responses (seriously, not an issue...), but if you're one of those brides that expect that, just go into it knowing that it may take a day or so for an e-mail back - Joe is great about texting though - just shoot him a text or a phone call. He'll get back to you in a timely manner. Also - just a side note - HE IS SO INSANELY ORGANIZED. He had our day down to 'T' with specific timelines and would constantly be updating us with where we were at with the day. He was just so calm, confident, and reassuring throughout the day and I couldn't imagine having had a better band to work with. We really can't speak highly enough - don't think twice about booking with them. You won't regret it.

ce I know that the whole experience with vendors, not just the day of, is important... The only thing that my husband wanted for the wedding was a live band. So we went looking for a band, but every single one we looked at was WAY out of our price range..so we basically gave up. Then my sister happened to attend a wedding where The Walk-Ins were playing, and she called me the next morning ecstatic about us having to check them out, also hearing from her friend (the bride) they were affordable on top of it. I reached out to Joe, and the first time we talked on the phone we talked for 30 mins, and he was awesome. He was so thorough and straightforward about pricing and the type of services they can offer (he can also officiate if you need that!), I immediately felt good about the situation--they were also EXTREMELY reasonably priced, only slightly more than a decent, full-time DJ for all-inclusive of ceremony, MCing, and entire reception (dinner/dancing) for 5 piece band. We then set up a time to "shadow" a wedding reception in order to hear them play. I knew that we had hit the jackpot with the band when the bride and groom came out of there way to tell us how awesome the band was, and so did their photographer...who had never worked with them before. We stayed for probably a little over an hour, but I loved their set so much that I could have partied the whole rest of the night at the wedding! So I set up my first meeting with Joe, and it was so refreshing to have it be in a relaxed, informal setting. We just met at a local bar by our house, and he brought his computer to go through the basics, and also to walk us through the whole wedding day from start to finish to help us plan out details we hadn't even thought of (and I consider myself an extremely detailed person). He created a shared Google Doc for us to continuously update all the way until the day of the wedding. On the wedding day, Joe and the band were phenomenal. He stopped in the bridal "waiting room" area before the ceremony to let me know he was there setting up and everything looked and sounded (from sound check) fantastic. From the moment the reception started, Joe was in full control and kept everything on track down to the minute. He was in contact with my banquet captain and event coordinator at the hotel to make sure everything ran smoothly. We even ran AHEAD of schedule!! He was such a comfort to me during the whole reception because I knew he was taking care of things the whole time, and I could just sit back and relax. And when it came time for the music during dinner/dancing -WOW!! My wedding guests told me it was like being at a concert. They were blown away. Because we had saved money in other places, I was able to spend a little more and add on the female singer and the 3-piece horns. They seriously knocked it out of the park. Joe was in the crowd getting people involved, he allowed my husband to perform a song with the band, and even got the older people dancing! They played songs from every genre--I would say at least 80% of our wedding was still there listening/dancing by the time the reception ended. I can't recommend The Walk-Ins more - do yourself a favor and hire them! Worth every penny!

From guiding our friend on how to officiate, to organizing our wedding ceremony, to adjusting the length of my first dance song on VERY short notice (day of), and singing it for me beforehand in my Bridal room with his bandmate (basically a private performance) to make sure it was perfect, Joe and his band did everything they could to make sure my wedding day went as smooth as possible. The Walk-ins was also so talented to the point that they were able to free play my Dad's favorite song (a song they never played before) for him to live out his dream to sing with a live band! Better yet, at the end of the night, the venue coordinators were so impressed with them, they told me that they were the best band they had ever dealt with that they put them on their preferred vendors list! My venue has weddings and events every week for the entire year, so they are SUPER picky. My guests all raved about them as well, and said they were the best part of their night. I PROMISE the Walk-ins will be the best and most memorable part of your wedding (besides the getting married part, of course)!

They can play everything from classics like the Beatles, 90's jams, country and even some super cool mash ups. They made a personalized 90's DJ set list for our cocktail hour. Not only are they an awesome band, but they helped make announcements throughout the night, which was very helpful and less coordination for me. We couldn't have picked a better band.

played it even better than I could ever imagine! Our guests can't stop talking about how wonderful everyone did and how much fun it was! If I could do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing! right up to the end, largely because the band just crushed it. 8-9 months ago when we began speaking with Joe about our big day he mentioned that he likes to act as the field general. He delivered on that promise and kept us right on schedule. Our guests loved the variety of music as did we. The guys are quite talented and provided a diverse instrumentation offering. They handled the ceremony music, transitioned to a sweet acoustic set for cocktail hour, played a brilliant piano show for dinner, gave us great hits by the band, and dj'ed in between sets. These guys are as professional as they are fun. You'd be selling yourself short if you didn't at least consider The Walk-Ins as an option for your wedding or big event. o do. Joe was our officiant as well for our ceremony and he did a fantastic job of that. We've been getting non stop compliments about our ceremony and the band. Joe was at the center of all that and he owned it. His presence during the reception was amazing. He would sing and walk around the dance floor and interact with the guests. I overheard one of our guests asking if the band would fly to California to do their wedding. Basically, Joe is the man and the Walk Ins are an amazing band to have at your wedding. You will not be disappointed.

They were amazing. They helped MC, they sang all the songs we loved, and they rocked our ceremony music. It was magical. d ran smoothly. They are amazing performers and got everyone moving all night. The music samples they have on their website don't even do this band justice. I received so many compliments from my guests and have since received several requests for their info from guests who want to hire them. Beyond being an amazing band, these guys are amazing all around. When we arrived at the venue and discovered they left the place a mess right before guests were supposed to arrive for the ceremony, Joe and his guys jumped in and helped pull the space together. When the venue failed to convert the ceremony space into the reception place as promised, Joe and his guys once again jumped in and helped set up the room. Hiring these guys you are not just hiring an amazing band, it's like hiring four amazing friends who will bend over backwards to make sure your wedding is everything you wanted it to be. Hiring them was one of the best decisions I made for my wedding and I can't say enough about them.

absolutely fantastic! The music is great and Joe's personality (as MC and lead singer) made the whole tone of the event relaxed and fun. Joe was a total professional leading up the wedding. He put us completely at ease in the lead-up to the big day, and on our wedding day, he worked closely with our day-of coordinator, caterer and venue staff to ensure everything ran seamlessly. He also provided a lot of great recommendations on the flow of the night (when we should do speeches, first dances, etc.). That night, the dance floor was packed from start to finish. I can't rave about the Walk-ins enough. They were the hit of our wedding -- we had a ton of compliments on the music -- and I highly recommend them to future brides/grooms!
