The West Side Bakery

We used The West Side Bakery for our wedding cake for our October 6th wedding. Throughout the whole process they were very helpful and accommodating with information and setting up our cake tasting. The tasting cakes were beautiful and the cake flavors we chose were delicious and made it an easy decision to choose them to make our wedding cake. We did cake tastings with 4 bakeries and this bakery was by far the best. The cakes at other places tasted artificial or just not great flavors to choose from. For our wedding cake, we chose a two tier cake with almond cake and raspberry preserves filling and then we did two half sheet cakes, chocolate with peanut butter filling and pumpkin with cream cheese filling. These cakes were ALL delicious! The main cake was also beautifully decorated and they color matched our flowers. We can't wait to get our anniversary cake from The West Side Bakery!

Absolutely delicious! our cake was perfect! we had pumpkin to go with our fall wedding and it was the BEST cake we have ever had and we are not cake people. The dessert table for our wedding was a hit! Tasting spoons were the most complimented dessert. Barb and her team are easy to work with and very accomodating.

Barb at the Westside Bakery did an AMAZING job on my wedding cake. I wanted a perfectly smooth, 3 tier, white frosted cake and it was perfect. Barb called me to plan out the whole thing, and I even changed my mind on some things at the last minute and she was so accommodating. She even coordinated with my florist because they were placing fresh flowers on the cake the day of. Not only did it look good it was delicious - I had the white cake with raspberry preserves. I even had some left over and I ate a piece every day for a week after the wedding !!

I used West Side Bakery for my wedding cake last weekend and it was amazing!! The cake itself was beautiful and tasty! We had a small cutting cake and then three half sheets that were brought out after the cutting. We had an almond cake with strawberry cream, yellow with raspberry, a lemon curd, and chocolate with toffee. All four were fantastic and I had many people tell me much much they loved the cake! Barb was also fantastic to work with through the process!!

West Side Bakery made a rustic looking 3 tier wedding cake for our wedding at Gervasi Vineyard! We had a different flavor for each layer and it was delicious. Convenient delivery and they placed the cake on our cake stand and placed the cake topper for us. Highly recommended!

We did a little something different for our wedding cake. We did a 3 tier cinnamon roll cake (which I found on Pinterest). The west side bakery NAILED IT. It looked exactly like the picture and we have received so many compliments on it. Highly recommend this bakery.

We decided to go through West Side Bakery for our wedding cake and we are so happy that we did! We went back and forth on if we wanted to do the tiered cake because we didn't want to spend a fortune on our dream wedding cake - it ended up being a more perfect cake than we could've imagined when we met with Barb to design it and she worked right spot on with our budget! We went with white almond buttercream frosting and almond cake & our cake was stunning and absolutely delicious - everyone at our wedding was raving over it!

They were so easy to work with! Being from out of state so much of wedding planning was done from a distance. We tried cakes months before. Yet they did an amazing job. They communicated with our venue so we never had to worry and it was delicious. We got so many compliments on the cake!

I’m obsessed with our wedding cake! It was delicious! Barbara was great to work with. She set up a perfect cake tasting for us and made us small individual cakes for each flavor we wanted. The cake tasting was so personal and she took the time to really go over every detail to help us get the perfect wedding cake. Our wedding cake came out beautiful and West Side Bakery was great to work with.

We only had one cake tasting because after attending this one we did not need to look elsewhere. We chose three different options and only had to pay for one of the slices, the other two were free. The cake was delicious!! It's perfectly moist and fluffy. They also deliver your cake (which I'd recommend) and they handle your cake topper with care! I HIGHLY recommend!!

I’d give The West Side Bakery more than 5 stars if I could. We worked with Barb and her team for our wedding cake and cupcakes, and the whole process was so easy! They provide 3 large cakes at your tasting (you choose the flavors ahead of time), and we were sold right away! They were SO delicious, and Barb was so friendly. She even worked with me to surprise my husband with a groomsman cake. HIGHLY recommend!

Absolutely delicious!!!! We had so many compliments on our cake!! We did a spice cake with spiced buttercream filling, and then the infamous Swiss meringue buttercream! We had a simple and elegant design and LOVED it! So moist and the flavor was on point. You would never go wrong with West Side Bakery!

We chose The West Side Bakery for our wedding day needs, and we are so happy that we did! The cake was EXACTLY as I had imagined it to be decoration wise, very intricate and good attention to detail, a work of art in fact. All of our guests were amazed at how beautiful it was, but even more so with how it tasted - all of our guests could not believe how delicious it was, saying it was the best cake they had ever eaten, and this is from people who had come from all over this country! The staff was always very friendly and pleasant to speak with. Each time I had contacted the bakery, whether by phone or e-mail, they were very quick to respond, always in less than 24 hours, even on the weekend. Our consultation was face-to-face, they offered GENEROUS portions of the tasting samples (we were even allowed to take the left overs home!), and assisted us through the entire selection process, offering examples and suggestions while also allowing us plenty of time to consider out options. We even had a few vegan guests that the bakery was able to accommodate with a small vegan cake, which was also DELICIOUS - we took home the left overs of this and literally could not even tell the difference between the vegan and non-vegan cake, icing and all! I would highly recommend this bakery for any special occasion needs, we will definitely be returning in the future.

Barb and her team are absolutely amazing! Barb is extremely responsive and helpful through the whole process. At our tasting appointment we were set on a small cake and mini desserts and everything we tasted was delicious. Partway through planning, I decided to surprise my husband with a groom's cake. We met with her again and she was happy to make the changes. My cake turned out exactly as I pictured, but even better the groom's cake was phenomenally done. It was a pretty intricate/life-like cake based on the Halloween movie Trick 'r Treat and I was worried it wouldn't come out life-like enough, but it was honestly perfect and everyone loved it. We had both red velvet and pumpkin spice and they were delicious! We even had guests asking if there was extra that they could take home.

The west side bakery created our wedding cake for our recent September wedding. We had an idea in mind, gave a few photo ideas and they exceeded our expectations. The cake was delicious and the cake looked gorgeous.

Delicious wedding cake and desserts! They also gave us the exact design we wanted and worked with our florist to have flowers on the cake! What a lovely, easy experience with West Side Bakery! Our cake tasting was so fun and we were able to choose the cake we wanted right away. White cake with lemon curd and buttercream frosting, topped with fresh berries. It was beautiful and delicious! We even got a bridal shower cake and a rehearsal dinner cake from here since we wanted to take advantage of all excuses and reasons to celebrate with a West Side Bakery cake. Definitely recommend!

We were married 7/21/18. The cake was amazing! During our trial we were able to try 3 different types of cakes- they have tons of options though- and they were huge and delicious! We chose our favorite, told Barb exactly what we wanted for how it would look and she did just that! The cake at our wedding was just amazing! Absolutely delicious and beautiful and we could not have been more thrilled. Our guests loved it too and now I’m just counting down the days until we can have the cake topper on our first anniversary.

We were impressed with Westside Bakery from the moment we had our tasting. We had cute personalized samples made just for us and the cakes are just as beautiful as they are delicious. The staff is wonderful and really took time to understand what my husband and I wanted for our cake and delivered our vision exactly! We would definitely recommend this bakery!

West Side Bakery in Akron provided our wedding cake. It was absolutely perfect! We had chocolate cake and chocolate mouse layer and a spice cake and cream cheese layer. Could not have asked for better! Can't wait to have our anniversary topper - lemon cake with lemon curd! Delish!

Delicious cakes!

I grew up eating the West Side Bakery's cake, so it was a no brainer when we were looking for our wedding cake. Barb is so friendly and great to work with. They have a great flavor selection and many of our guests raved about the cake! Price and quality (seriously so delicious) are wonderful. Would highly recommend!

Barb and the ladies at The West Side Bakery definitely bake with love! Our wedding cake was gorgeous and delicious! Absolutely thrilled with how the caramel buttercream turned out! Thank you, you blew the competition out of the water!

While I received compliments on the cake at our wedding, my husband and I are not cake people, so it was a lower priority to us. We also had a huge cookie table (family tradition) with thousands of cookies available, so cake was also an afterthought for a lot of guests as well. That being said, the coordinator here was not really listening when I asked her for quotes, I wanted a quote with a full 4 tier cake, as well as some with a faux or fake 4 tier cake and just the real layer on top for cutting purposes - possibly even having sheet cake in the kitchen if necessary. The price quotes were actually more for the fake layers (which makes absolutely no sense). She insisted on having enough for every guest. Until finally, I put my foot down and just purchased enough for half the guests and as I suspected, there was tons left over (a whole 30 pound tier to be exact) that was inherently wasted. So just be concise and direct with what you want, I gave in entirely too easy and did not ultimately get what I wanted.

West Side Bakery is by and far the best cake around so why wouldn't you use it for your wedding day?! They were so wonderful to work with and people loved all the different flavors combinations (40 different ones!) they created for our social cake parade in place of the traditional tiered wedding cake.

West side bakery was great! We made a lot of last minute changes and they were very accommodating. The cupcakes that we finally decided on were extremely delicious, as was the small cake we used for the ceremonial cutting. The frosting work was very pretty and held up well to the heat of the day. The lack of any leftovers was a true testament to how good the cupcakes really were!

Our wedding cake was amazing! It tasted so good and we got so many compliments! Also, the planning process with the owner was a breeze. They make these cute little sample cakes for you to try while you discuss your options. It was a fun experience!

The owner of the bakery was down-to-earth and friendly when my now-husband and I met with her - not to mention the cake was a hit at our wedding!

Disrespectful, unorganized, and rude staff. This used to be our favorite little bakery to go to. They refused to complete a cupcake order for a wedding event for us. We called weeks in advance and they assured us if we called them 24 hours before the event it would be perfect. We called 36 hours in advance to be sure (since we've had trouble before) and when we called they said no, it's been a busy week, we don't do those on the weekend. You are a bakery. That's all you should be doing. Now we have an event with NO cupcakes because of them. I was going to get my wedding cake from them but I will never step foot in that bakery again and I do not recommend to anyone. Chain grocery stores taste much better anyways and are more than accommodating. I am extremely disappointed with their customer service. It's a shame.

The West Side Bakery did an amazing job creating two beautiful custom cakes for my wedding. The cake design turned out exactly as I'd hoped, and even more importantly they were delicious! We received so many compliments from guests about how good the cake tasted. The bakery staff was also very mindful of making recommendations for what type of cake would stand up to the 90+ degree heat on our July wedding day. Overall extremely satisfied!

I really loved my wedding cakes and baked goods the West Side Bakery did for my wedding this past August. Barbara was always very responsive, very accommodating, and extraordinarily creative. I met with several bakeries and no one else seemed to want to make my creative vision come to life the way Barbara did. She provided me with sketches, and really listened to and made note of any an all feedback I gave her. Everyone raved about all of the desserts in our dessert spread. We had almost no leftovers the next day. The one piece of feedback I'd give would be about their rentals. I wish they had had both more options and higher quality options for stands and serving-ware to rent for our dessert table.

We absolutely love the West Side Bakery! The cake was beautiful and delicious and so many guests told us they had never seen a prettier cake. We recently got married and had West Side Bakery handle our cake. Barb and the rest of her team are absolutely amazing! We were thrilled beyond words with our wedding cake. Both of our flavors were delicious we enjoyed our cake days after the wedding thanks to the left over cake. (Although the scale is not happy about it!) We're very happy customers!

My husband and I tried about 6 bakeries and tasted all of them in the Cleveland/Akron area. This one was by far the best tasting and it wasn't the most expensive place either! They have a binder showing different cake designs, which would help out a bride who doesn't know what she wants yet. I knew exactly what I wanted, so they let me send them an image with some notes and they made it perfectly! Highly recommend the almond and spice cakes :)

I would highly recommend this bakery. They were very easy to work with. We were able to meet with one of the ladies there to discuss what we were looking for. We were also given a cake tasting, as they have unlimited flavors of cakes and fillings! Their cakes taste fabulous and they have a whole book of designs to choose from, or you can create your own. Also, we did cookies from another vendor and one of the batches didn't come out so last minute I ordered a big order of canolis From West Side Bakery. They had them ready the next day and delivered them with my cake at no extra charge!

We had gone to west side bakery for our August 15,2015 wedding.. We were absolutely pleased from the beginning when we did our cake tasting... Barb is great to work with and the cake I had shown her on a picture was exactly what I wanted th day of the wedding! We choose a buttercream frosting with choc cake with pb filling and white cake with strawberry preserves filling. Received many compliments fro, our guests on how it was the best wedding cake they've ever had! I'd recommend them to anyone! Loved it!

The West Side Bakery is simply wonderful. They made me a beautiful custom wedding cake at a very reasonable price. It was not only beautiful but tasted great too! We received many compliments throughout the night and even weeks later about our cake. The owner is very accommodating and easy to work with. I would recommend this bakery to any bride!

Everything from the tasting to the final presentation of the wedding cupcakes and cutting cake was absolutely perfect! There was never a time where i doubted if they could get it done....even after I changed my minds ALOT! Barb was super fast to respond to any emails I had, which helped alleviate any wedding stress I had. Not to mention, the price was amazing, and even after adding more, still stayed within my budget. I would definitely use WestSide Bakery again, no hesitation.

We had chosen The West Side Bakery based on reviews on the wedding websites, as well as "best of" city awards. It is no wonder that this bakery gets such high marks and so many awards. First, during the planning process, Barb and her staff were fantastic to work with, very polite, professional, knowledgeable people who strive to give you what you want, but able to offer up recommendations based on their expertise. We did a dessert table with cupcakes and assorted pastries, and this was a huge hit with everyone at our wedding. When we had gone in to the bakery for our cake tasting, we both said they were the best cupcakes we'd ever had (I'm vegan -- so I got to sample those...wow!). So, it was no surprise that by the end of our reception, there was not a crumb to be had. We ordered extras thinking there would be leftovers for people to take home, but our guests ate EVERYTHING on that table!! My first piece of advice if you're reading this review is to use this bakery for your wedding cake/other baked goods, and my second is to order a whole lot of extra servings because they will go quickly!!

We ordered a smaller "cutting" cake for our wedding since we were providing non-cake desserts. The decorating on the cake was gorgeous and fit perfectly with what we asked for, but more importantly the cake was actually delicious! We got a marble cake with vanilla buttercream. West Side Bakery was very easy to work with and really delivered an excellent cake.

Push the easy button and get EXACTLY what you want WITH NO STRESS! West Side Bakery can make you any type of cake in any style you want. You name it, they can make it. If you are not sure what you want, they will meet with you and give you easy to select options. THEIR SERVICE IS AWESOME AND DOWN TO EARTH! The best part about their cakes is they look amazing and taste even more amazing. Our guests kept commenting on how much they liked the cake. (Not something you usually hear at weddings.) I highly recommend their spice cake with cream cheese filling. It was a huge hit at our winter wedding.

It has been a little over a month since my wedding and I have had a chance to talk to most of my guests and one thing I hear from everyone is how great my cake was. We had 3 layers and they were lemon cake w raspberry filling, white cake w strawberry filling, and chocolate cake with peanut butter. The cake was extremely moist and tasted so fresh. Now as for the appearance, it was more beautiful than I could have imagined. The cake was probably more expensive than I had anticipated, but for the overall quality and taste it was definitely worth the cost. Plus the cake had a lot of personal detail so it made it special. I want say that Barb was wonderful. I showed her 2 pictures of cakes that I liked and she looked up the original baker of one of the cakes to ask questions about the design. Working with the west side bakery was a great wedding memory and experience.

Our Cake was gorgeous. This wasn't the cheapest option we looked at, but they were able to provide us exactly what we wanted. The fondant skirting, bows, piping, and crystal accents turned out beautifully. We were a little disappointed with the red velvet cake we received, it had a VERY strong chocolate taste. Much more so than the sample we had at our testing. We might as well have ordered chocolate cake. However, the almond cake with raspberry filling and the white cake with butter-cream filling we had were wonderful! Overall, we were pleased with how our cake turned out, and we would recommend West Side Bakery to others.

My wedding was the second wedding cake we got from West Side Bakery. (The first was my sisters wedding) both times the cakes were exactly what we were looking for! They are beautifully made and taste amazing! We had so many compliments on the cake! The guest from the wedding happening in the room next door even walked over and stole some of our cake!

The cake from West Side Bakery is excellent! The cake was moist and designed exactly how we wanted it.
