We could not have asked for a better experience with Jeanne and Elliot and the entire venue team. They were so kind, transparent, and helpful throughout the entire planning process, always quick to answer questions and offer guidance. The amenities at the venue were incredible, and the day-of team was amazing, making sure everything ran smoothly and pulling off an impressive room flip. The bar staff was equally wonderful, keeping the energy high and our guests happy all night. We especially loved the terrace for cocktail hour, it was such a beautiful space. It was truly the best day.

From the moment we walked into The Whim, we just knew this had to be our wedding venue. With the venue being black/white and very open, there were endless options on how to decorate the space. You can really make it your own and make it personal to the both of you. We received so many compliments from our guests about how beautiful the venue was - we couldn't agree more! When I look back at the beginning stages of our wedding planning journey, I know that we made the absolute best decision booking The Whim as our ceremony and reception space!

The Whim is a wedding venue located in Minneapolis, MN. Situated in the heart of the city’s arts district, the building features ample natural light and 1920s industrial beauty throughout its bright interior. The venue was founded by wedding planning company, Blush & Whim. Every inch of the space has been thoughtfully designed with their clients and vendors in mind. Whether you’re planning a down-to-earth gathering or a grand affair, the minimalist decor acts as a blank canvas, allowing you to curate your dream celebration.
The Whim consists of more than 15,000 square feet of event space where to-be-weds can host their long-awaited days. The main room boasts 14-foot ceilings, which can be adorned with canopies of lighting, floral arrangements, and custom installations to align with your one-of-a-kind vision. Old-world white brick and elevated timber ceilings create a chic atmosphere for any occasion. Your ceremony and reception can take place here, depending on your preferences. Prior to the day’s highlights, you and your partner are welcome to relax and prepare in separate, luxurious get-ready rooms. The building features two additional mixed-use rooms that can be utilized for cocktail hours, dessert displays, photo booth areas, and more. The venue also includes a lounge space that exudes 1920s opulence. Here, you and your loved ones can share late-night snacks, sparkling beverages, and memorable conversations.
The attentive team at The Whim will be there to support you throughout the planning process and on your special day. They invite you and your partner to visit before your event for a tour of the space. For the convenience of you and your guests, there are 89 on-site parking spots. Valet services can also be arranged upon request for a VIP experience.

pace. It offered endless opportunities for personalization while still maintaining an elegant charm, even without added decorations.
The Whim was incredibly flexible and worked with us when we had the unique idea to place the stage at the front of the venue. This setup was a hit with our guests! It allowed easy access to the Glass Room, bathrooms, and the patio, which everyone enjoyed on a perfect September evening.
Every detail, from the beautifully designed bathrooms to the getting-ready rooms, created the perfect backdrop for our dream wedding.
Elliot and Jenae were a joy to work with, and the bar staff kept the energy high all night! Plus, the venue’s central location and flexibility with the end time were the cherry on top of an already flawless experience.

edding ended up looking much prettier than I could have ever imagined. We really appreciated that the getting ready spaces were equally gorgeous and spacious for both the groom and bride and there is so much natural light for getting ready. For an all-indoor wedding, the space is spacious and comfortable – the speakeasy came in clutch when a couple of our guests had a couple drinks too many and needed a quiet place to rest. One thing to note for those with more sensitivities to sound is that since this is a warehouse/factory-based venue, like many of the other warehouse venues in the city, the sound can be echoey and loud.
Jennae and Elliot were great and I appreciated that I could email them and get a response when needed. I also loved that we were able to customize our signature cocktails by just providing some recipes and Elliot worked to make sure that they got them just right – our guests were raving about the cocktails. I also appreciated that they gave us the extra Yakult yogurt drinks they had purchased for our signature drinks at the end of the night, after our guests had ended up finishing the straight soju alone. It’s clear that The Whim has been very thoughtfully designed for events and the venue coordinators, Michelle and Courtney (I believe) were super helpful and easy to work with. Overall, we would recommend The Whim for anyone who wants a light and airy space and who wants a colorful wedding to pop!

There is no other venue I can imagine having had our wedding at. From our initial tour - before the space was done - I was wow'd by the beautiful space Elliot & Jennae had created....
Knowing that Jennae had worked in the industry for so long and knew what would create a stunning and usable space for not only the wedding couple, but guests and vendors as well was a huge part of my confidence in booking our wedding here without having a finished space or example wedding photos to look at. I wanted something that was clean and fresh that I could add in decor to without having to compete with paisley carpet or a certain building style at another venue, and The Whim delivered that. Both Elliot & Jennae were incredible with communication, questions and coordination with our vendors to make sure our day went off without a hitch. Both the getting ready suites were perfect for the morning of the wedding and so convenient for the wedding party and all their personal belongings. Our pictures are fabulous and really capture not only the beauty of our day but also the venue. We are so grateful we chose The Whim!

the information up front which made everything smooth and easy to navigate around and plan the wedding we wanted.
One thing we loved about the venue is the atmosphere. The Whim is a truly beautiful venue and although their opportunities are endless when it comes to design and layout options, we appreciated the natural beauty the venue offered and really showcased that on our wedding day. Another bonus is they have security and bar on staff so we did not have to hire out for those services.
We would absolutely recommend The Whim again and again, they are true experts and care for their customers. We felt supported the entire process, Jennae and Elliot were always ready and willing to answer questions and offer guidance as needed.
Thank you to everyone at The Whim for making our day amazing, we felt the love and so appreciate you!

provides a nice outdoor option for guests to spread out, and the getting ready suites are very photogenic. Jennae and Elliot were awesome to work with - helpful, responsive, and very friendly. The in-house bar staff, lead by bar manager Patrick, were also fantastic. We would highly recommend The Whim to other couples.

enue strikes the perfect balance of chic and industrial, perfect for Northeast Minneapolis. Fun bonus: not only do the large windows let in tons of natural light, but you can also get some fun views of the very active train tracks outside (with zero noise inside). The Whim does all bar service in house, but this turned out to be a big plus, as their team had plenty of selections to choose from. We booked the venue when it was still under construction, and it's been amazing to see Elliot and Jennae's vision come to life. We couldn't recommend The Whim more!
