Emailing with Tracey Morris (our catering event manager and point of contact) always made me feel like an inconvenience. She often started emails stating how busy she was, how many...
events she had going on and how she was replying to the email late. Multiple emails containing important documents started with “I should have emailed this to you sooner.” Memorably, she also complained about another bride making last minute wedding changes, as a reason she had not returned my email sooner. We should have known it would be difficult to work with her as when we were originally planned to first tour the venue, she forgot our appointment. We waited in the lobby for an hour trying to call and email her to start our tour.
A week before my wedding, I realized it was predicted to rain. There was no initiative from the venue to assist in planning a back up rain plan. I reached out to Tracey Morris, and she was curt with her replies, bordering on rude. When initially touring the facility we had asked about inclement back up weather facilities and we were verbally told the ceremony would be moved to the glass room (our reception room). When it came time to making a rain plan a week before the wedding, we asked about using the reception room for the ceremony, we were told it was allowed but no staff would be available to "flip" the room from ceremony to reception. The back up rain room was an unknown, never seen, conference room called the juniper room. This conference room is not even listed on their website. This room is a very drab, business oriented room that no one would want to get married in. However, according to Tracey, this was the only room available. We would later find out that this was untrue as we were later moved to another room. Rain back up room was changed to the lakeside room and no one told the coordinator or myself. We found on at 8 AM the morning of the wedding when we walked by the room and saw the sign on the door listed it as the ceremony room. I then had to communicate with everyone that the room had been moved. Our decorator was completely blindsided.
Finally, the day of our wedding ended in chaos. Our cake cutting was a disaster. It was originally planned for 8:30 which was confirmed with Tracey via e-mail. However, this was no communicated to the catering staff who believed it would occur at 9 pm. When the DJ announced the cake cutting at 8:30, no cake cutting utensils were put out ahead of time. Upon trying to find someone to help in the kitchen, the serving utensils were nowhere to be found and none of the staff spoke English. After awkwardly standing in front of our guests for 2 songs we gave up waiting. We ended up cutting the cake with our dinner silverware and serving it with a slotted spoon the coordinator grabbed from inside the kitchen, placing the cake on a used saucer. As per the BEO silver cake serving utensils were to be included in the package. Our event manager, Frank (who we randomly ran into on the day of our wedding, and had never been introduced to prior to the event) was appropriately abashed, causing him to drop the top tier of the cake twice in front of guests.
We also had multiple issues with our room block. The most egregious -multiple rooms had been paid for ahead of time and on day of check in at 3:45 we were told they were listed as unpaid. I was then directed to contact the reservation department directly to resolve the issue by the front desk, instead of having them offer to help.
We had our wedding at The Woodlands Resort and had a wonderful experience, and I'll explain why I'm leaving only 3 stars.
Starting with the GOOD... The catering experience was inc...
redible (this venue is all inclusive) from the initial tasting down to the food at our wedding. The food was to die for, and the entire staff was more than warm and wonderful. The location was gorgeous, and our guests LOVED being able to stay at the resort overnight as well.
Now the not so good... Communication after signing our contract went downhill. It was almost like pulling teeth trying to get in touch with the sales manager if we had questions about the contract or event. Eventually we got passed on to Missy who acted as our wedding coordinator, and I was able to keep in contact with her until the day of our event. What was shocking to us is that halfway through the night she just disappeared which was super disappointing. There were multiple times throughout the night that my husband and I could have really used her help, and at the end of the night our sparkler exit was NOT set up, and we didn't have a golf cart waiting for us- my mother in law actually had to walk to the resort to have someone come get us. If you're considering having your wedding here I'd recommend looking into hiring an outside coordinator that you can rely on. I was encouraged to try and reach out to them to negotiate any money back for that experience but at that point I didn't think anything would be worth that hassle, and we walked away with everything we loved about that day (because overall it really was great). Just be ready for mess with day of coordination and communication leading up.
I couldn’t be more happy with our September 10th, 2021 wedding at The Woodlands Resort. Missie Kelly was awesome she planned everything down to the minute, she thought of every det...
ail and made sure everything was executed to perfection. The bar staff were awesome we had the best open bar! The food was absolutely perfect, and our cocktail hour charcuterie board was to die for. Not to mention our package included a cake from Kiss The Cook, let me tell you everyone was raving about it. Probably one of the best cakes I’ve ever had. Lastly our reception was in a beautiful ballroom called the glass room. Floor to ceiling windows all around, a waterfall and golf course background it was perfect! This venue fits a lot of brides budget, and it’s all inclusive as well. I couldn’t recommend The Woodlands Resort more.
I have to say so far that we have not been impressed with The Woodlands Resort for my son's wedding and reception. The area is beautiful that the wedding and reception will be hel...
d in, the food tasting was amazing so I have high hopes for the meal; but the service from their wedding coordinator as been extremely lacking. My future daughter-in-law has called and emailed Missie Kelly to find out information about payments and if the groom's cake from the only baker they allow is added into the total price or if they pay the baker directly and gets no answers. Missie never answers her phone and a reply to emails is nonexistent. Considering the bride's parents are paying over $7000 for a wedding with 35 guests, you would think that you would get better service than this. Would I recommend this place for any kind of event - no way!
This was a wonderful place to have our wedding reception. Jessica was great at handling the details and the staff was very helpful. It is also very nice that the food and linens w...
ere included in the cost, which saved us from having to organize those venders. Overall, everyone was very happy with the location and I would recommend it to others.
We had both our wedding ceremony and reception here back in Nov, 2013. It was amazing!!!! The food was unbelievable, especially the wedding cake the resort staff made. It was hea...
venly. They also treated our out of town guests like royalty. Due to a flight cancellation, we had no one to pick up my aunt &uncle because it was during the rehearsal. The resort sent a car to pick them up (at no charge) for us. There were also two out of town gift packages that were supposed to be in their rooms when they arrived, that they were not able to deliver. They obtained the address 's from us and shipped them directly to their home addresses the next business day. Once again at no charge. Judy was wonderful in helping us plan for the event. We had our own wedding coordinator that worked with Judy to make sure everything was amazing. I cannot say enough good things about the resort.
We had our ceremony at The Woodlands Resort on the Forrest Deck and the reception inside the Crystal Ballroom. Everything was absolutely perfect. Judy was the best coordinator you ...
could hope for and she really spent time with us to make sure everything came together seamlessly. The weather was stormy and terrible the night before and we were really worried we would have to move the ceremony indoors, however, Judy allowed us to wait until just 6 hours before the wedding ceremony start time to decide where we wanted to have it. The weather cleared up and it was a perfect day! We had both a traditional American and Persian wedding ceremony and they were so accommodating to the additional items needed to incorporate our culture. I would highly encourage you to use the vendors they recommend for flowers, linens, and day-of coordinators, as they were also all professional and perfect! We used Heather as our day of coordinator and she even stayed an extra 45 minutes at the end just to make sure everything was packed up and prepared for me to pick up at check-out the next day. The food was delicious and everyone raved about how beautiful the resort was. Highly recommend!
Is there a package that includes the ceremony and ballroom together?
I had both my ceremony and reception at The Woodlands Resort. The ceremony was on the Forest Deck, and the reception in The Glass ballroom. Everything was perfect!
The Woodlands Resort and Conference Center is incredible. If you get the opportunity, work with Judy-she is the best in the business!
What a memorable evening!! We had our reception at the Woodlands Resort in the Emerald Ballroom. Lauren was wonderful to work with from start to finish! She answered our questions ...
in a timely manner, made sure all the details were addressed, and was there the night of our reception to ensure everything ran smoothly. In addition, many of our guests stayed at the resort and loved the rooms, amenities, and location with close proximity to the mall and waterway!! Everything at the resort exceeded our expectations and we highly recommend The Woodlands Resort for your wedding! Thank you for making ours so special :)

y budget. Melissa is very thorough and made sure she knew exactly what my mother, my groom and I all wanted, then made it happen! She kept everything on track and even solved a few last-minute emergencies without me even KNOWING until after the honeymoon! Loved this place. Loved the wedding. Loved the price.
I loved my wedding at The Woodlands Resort. I chose the gazebo for my ceremony space and the Vista ballroom for my reception. They put me up in a beautiful bridal suite/ Honeymoon....
In my package deal I had an open bar, passed finger foods, they let you choose meal packages that they provide, plus the wedding cake is included into your package price. My experience was overall satisfying.
However,
When I booked with the resort back in January, I was told then construction would be going on at the resort ending in August. My wedding was in October so this seemed like no problem. This ended up being my biggest disappointment with the resort. The inside was finished, but the outside as my guests arrived was riddled with construction tape, orange nets, and tarps! Part of my reception was being used as the lobby check in, which I was promised would not be there only to find out 2 days before my wedding that it wouldn't be removed because of the construction! No offer to compensate was made just remorseful apologies. My Husband's family also had some difficulties checking in. Rooms weren't ready and they tried to give them less priced rooms than what they had paid for. All the rooms situations, did get resolved. It was still an inconvenience.
Nothing was going to ruin my wedding day, and I still was happy with the woodlands resort, great service and good location. Make sure you like your wedding coordinator and feel like you can clearly communicate with them.
We had chosen to use the Vista room. Which is a very lovely space for a small gathering. Loved all the spaces. We had a room for our photo booth, a room for our gifts, and of co...
urse a separate area for our dance floor and a bar area. The wait staff was on top of every ones needs, Judy our coordinator ran things so smoothly. What an moment to remember. We did have a few glitches to be aware of. First if you do use this room be aware of the sun position at the time of day your having your event. They didn't have any blinds to help keep the sun out of our guest eyes. Oops!! However that is my only concern with that room.
We had our wedding reception at this venue in The Glass. The wedding coordinator made it very easy to include everything we wanted. The reception packages were definitely all inclu...
sive and upgrades were truly upgrades to meet our specific preferences. I used their preferred vendors (except for photography) and they were all fantastic and made planning very easy and low maintenance. The cake was EXCELLENT!!!
It was a great choice for us because we had several out of town guests and the hotel accommodations were wonderful and there was no shortage of entertainment for our guests. The shuttle to market street and the mall is helpful, but since it only leaves once per hour, many guests felt more comfortable with rental cars to keep their time as flexible as possible. Overall, it was beautiful and I would definitely recommend without reservation this venue for weddings in the Woodlands!

delicious cake, and linens. Judy Patterson was our wedding coordinator and she was so helpful. Judy was great at answering our emails quickly and coordinating our large wedding party the day of the event. The Woodlands Resort has plenty of rooms for weddings of all sizes, but the best part was that they have on-site accomodations for our many out of town guests. The one thing that made us a little uneasy was that they do not do food tastings with you beforehand (cake and appetizer tastings only), but in the end that didn't matter because the 4 course meal we chose was amazing and all of our guests complimented us on how good the food and the cake were!

l and on the day of our ceremony and reception I was relaxed and able to focus on enjoying the day because I knew that everything was taken care of. My guests all raved about the food and the cost was very reasonable considering the caliber of the venue.
It was the PERFECT place for a bridal shower. We did the all you can eat Buffett and afterwards went out side and took pictures! Beautiful and relaxing place! I highly recommend!!

Overall, it was a good experience. I didn't like that we did not get to have a menu tasting.

ace where all of our guests from out of town could relax and enjoy the entire weekend. The staff at The Woodlands was great and the all inclusive package made everything so easy, but we were still allowed to make everything person by adding DIY touches everywhere that they happily set up for us!

This is great place to get married, the wedding coordinator is terrific, the food is great, the scenery is beautiful. I was completely satisfied with the services we received.

veness. Liquor, cake, flowers, wedding night room, and so much more is part of your package. It really is a great value. Also, the staff that worked my wedding was very friendly and professional. My only complaint is that my day-of wedding coordinator was changed FIVE times over the course of a year. Their wedding/catering department can't seem to keep people employed! Now, each coordinator I met was awesome, so no complaints there, but it was very nerve-wracking to have so much turn over, especially as it got close to my wedding. If you choose to go with TWR, which I highly recommend, make sure you write down EVERYTHING you discuss with your coordinator. There was a lot lost in translation from one to the next through the turnover. In the end, everything was beautiful and perfect and all of our requests were fulfilled. There was just some stress that could have been avoided if we had taken the initiative to document our meetings more thoroughly. As an aside, the bridal suite is, hands down, the nicest hotel room I have ever stayed in. Even if you don't get married at TWR, you need to stay in the big suite there at least once to complete your life.

st problem in the wedding was not having the bubbles out at the right time then I would say the wedding was a success! Everyone raved about the food even though the wait staff took mine away while taking some pictures and I didn't get to try much :(

re the big day and bang out all the details. I was so amazed when I walked into the reception and saw how perfectly my vision came to reality. The only negative would be the price though it is MOSTLY all-inclusive, I felt very cautious about making sure I knew what would cost extra on top of the food and beverage minimum. Overall though, it was still a 5 start experience. Another huge benefit was that our guests could stay at the resort. The grounds are beautiful and all our guests REALLY enjoyed staying there. Super close to all the main attractions of The Woodlands. Great choice!
The Woodlands Resort was a great place to get married. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because it was a bit expensive. But they take care of flowers, food, wedding cake...
, decorations, everything! On my wedding day, all I had to do was get ready. They were a joy to work with, and the wedding was beautiful!

e given a suite to use the day of the wedding for the bridal party to get ready in, and also were given a complimentary room the night of the wedding. The staff was so attentive during the reception to the bridal party and all of the guests. The cake and food turned out so delicious and many of our guests couldn't stop talking about how great the food was. The value was completely worth what you get. The Woodlans Resort and their staff made our wedding day perfect...and I wouldn't have changed a thing! I would recommend this venue to everyone wanting to get married or have their reception in The Woodlands area.

an an aisle runner and a couple of pedestals with flowers (only because we originally planned for it being inside). It's 2 minutes from The Woodlands Mall and all of the restaurants and hotels in the area. The fee covered food, alcohol (open bar), linens, plates etc, $35/table for centerpieces, butler-passed hors d'œuvre in cocktail hour, the wedding cake (and it was gorgeous! Found a picture on The Knot and they replicated my dream cake perfectly. Oh, and it was delicious!), and you also get a coordinator who runs the show "day of". She also helps you get everything together throughout the process. It was also the most reasonably-priced venue we went to and included the most. On my wedding night the staff was WONDERFUL and willing to bend over backwards for me and my guests. I recommend this venue to all of my friends and I definitely wanted to share with The Knot!
Our wedding planner Vanessa was amazing! We couldn't have asked for a better location

tifully and I couldn't think of anything that I would have changed! Diana, our catering manager, was attentive and available throughout the entire evening - not to mention throughout the months-long planning process!
Our guests were full of nothing but compliments, and I would recommend this facility and Diana to anyone! Btw, we booked the Cypress Room, which was perfect for our 30 guests.

way from the rest of the hotel, which gave us the opportunity to have a private deck area. The food was outstanding, along with the cake and the wines. Everything was to our specifications.;Be extremely clear on what you expect. I went through 2 wedding planners (both were fired) and the director of catering took over. Neither wedding coordinator took very good notes, so I had to basically re-plan my wedding with about 2 months to go. Be sure to keep notes on everything and document everything in email. It saved me! I ended up with almost everything I wanted. Also, be aware that they will most likely come back after the fact with additional bar charges. There is no way to contest these since it is your word against theirs!
I loved my coordinator Amber. She was very easy to work with. I also loved all of the amenities that were offered as well as how easy and smooth everything went.
The venue is fantastic for an outdoor ceremony. We had ours at sunset and the backdrop turned out amazing for pictures. The ballroom turned out beautifully as well because of the l...
