Our wedding was pretty amazing. The views were perfect, we had a great backdrop of leaves changing color behind the lake, LOTS of photo opportunities, and the reception hall was ...
beautiful. The porch looking over the lake is a phenomenal view. We also really loved the fact that they provided a shuttle for our guests (half hour before start time and half hour before its end) since the parking lot wasn't directly next to the reception hall. Everyone commented as to how great the food was (even the day before for dinner and breakfast the following day). Kari really made the day, coordinating everything. As long as you are open, organized, and communicate in advance, you will have no issues with the wedding team. They really will work with you. Bounce around ideas. Remind yourself that they have more than just your wedding going on, and they will get back to you. For any emergency stuff, they did however give us alternate phone numbers for immediate assistance.
Give directions for your guests, (and I highly recommend that you do). I would stress that the easiest and least confusing way to get there is to take the 400 to the end, continue on to 16, and take that to Bear Creek Road, and if they got to 98, they went too far. Some GPS's were having people take crazy backroad routes and dirt/gravel roads.
Part of the reason why we went with Bear Creek was the overnight cabins/tents/RV sites since we live out of state and have plenty of family in both the north towns and who wanted to catch up with us for the weekend. We had family stay in the cabins and tent sites, and we stayed in the RV site. We also rented a golf cart (not included for an RV site) for the weekend which was a GREAT help.
There were a few things that did not make sense to us (non-wedding related), like having a 2 night minimum for anyone booking a cabin. Our wedding was a Friday, and if they wanted to come on Friday, get ready, and stay the night, they would have had to also pay for the cabin for Saturday night as well. We had a lot of family leave early because of their long(er) drive home, and did not want to pay for two nights. The other thing was the bath house for the tent sites near the RV sites - it looked like it hadn't been cleaned at all, cobwebs everywhere, toilet stalls, shower stalls, dead bugs in the sinks, etc. And according to the family who stayed in the tent sites, there was NO hot water.. They ended up showering in the cabins that other family members rented. There were other bath houses marked on the map, but the "tent" family said they were either locked or couldn't be found.
Overall, it was a great wedding and a relaxing weekend with family.
