We got married at the Woolverton Inn this past weekend and I just had to write a review because our experience was extremely positive. We had an intimate wedding of 45 people and ...
have received nothing but positive feedback from our guests on the event space and the service overall. The Woolverton Inn really went above and beyond to make our day flow seamlessly, even when a Nor'easter came through and we had to pivot our ceremony and cocktail hour plans just days before. Our coordinator Sydni was AMAZING and my husband and I just cant stop talking about how she was calm but organized and responsive and kept everything flowing perfectly. We really didn't have to worry about anything throughout the entire night with her helping. Our guests keep talking about the food and so many of them said they expect wedding food to just be bad, but that was not the case here at all. Everyone was gushing about the reception entrees and how delicious they were. Thank you again!
Venue: The perfect venue for a dream, garden inspired wedding. The grounds are simply stunning! The Manor House, the cottages, the Northridge, the lawn, patio garden, tent- every ...
space is gorgeous, making it hard to choose where you want to spend your special day! It seems as though that no expense is spared in maintaining and updating the facility! For a gorgeous English garden, classic, vintage, Martha Stewart, aesthetic, you would be hard pressed to find a better location or venue. The Woolverton is the pinnacle of all the best things that Hunterdon and Buck counties have to offer.
Wedding Team: Full transparency, we had a rough start and communicated with three different site coordinators. However, we ended up with the best team- Brigid and Allison. The nicest and most supportive team we could have asked for – to the extent where we received many compliments from the guests. MAJOR shoutout to Brigid (the catering director at the Woolverton). Brigid was incredible to work with throughout the planning process. She truly took care of our requests or concerns and really alleviated any stress we had leading up to the weekend. She understood our vision as well as our budgetary restrictions and went above and beyond for us! Everything ran so smoothly the day/weekend-of our wedding largely thanks to the leadership of Brigid.
A piece of advice- make sure you negotiate all potential events/costs up front. Due to some of the turnover, mentioned above, there was some miscommunication regarding costs and what was and was not included in the quoted prices and there was limited flexibility on the backend.
We highly recommend the Woolverton for any event! Thanks for a dream wedding!
Beautiful Venue, Disappointing Service & Planning
Our wedding at this venue for our daughter in May, 2025 with 150 guests had its highs and lows. The property itself is stunning, ...
with a charming upscale and restored stone barn, tastefully appointed inn rooms, and immaculate grounds – a truly picturesque backdrop. The cocktail hour was also a highlight, with delicious food, great drinks, and fun lawn games.
However, the reception dinner was a major disappointment. The food arrived cold, portions were small, and the quality was far below expectations for the premium price. We also experienced significant issues with the service plan, including delayed serving for our host tables and a lack of contracted wine bottle service. The gluten-free brownie situation at dessert was also poorly handled.
Furthermore, the wedding planning process was consistently difficult and contentious. We went through three different planners without clear communication of changes, ultimately incurring additional costs by hiring our own. There were multiple instances of misinformation regarding catering options, shuttle services, and even chair rentals. Communication often lacked flexibility, causing considerable stress to the bride.
But, the venue's new catering manager, Brigid, was exceptional and a positive addition, and she should be given more responsibility for planning or client interface. However, she joined in the “home stretch” and our overall experience did not justify the high cost. We'd rate the property and facilities 5 stars, but the planning and reception execution at most 2 stars.
WOW, WOW, & WOW - I am speechless but also have so much to say! From the FANTASTIC coordinator (Kate Hanly) to the breathtaking grounds and landscape, to the wonderful owners (Mar...
y and Mario) to the immaculate cottages, the cute and very friendly sheep, I could go on and on! Woolverton Inn exceeds its reputation and then some!
From day 1 - Kate Hanly was nothing short of AMAZING. Her communication (especially now after knowing and seeing what she does) was seamless and super responsive. I heard back from Kate the same day and in most cases within minutes of reaching out, despite it being the busy fall wedding season. Working with Kate felt like working with a best friend. She was kind, patient and carefree all the while being very organized. She made sure my wedding went off without a hitch - every little detail we discussed was executed to perfection. I could not have asked for a better anything as it was all truly magical. Kate made sure everything went as planned. She took the time before my event to show me around, made recommendations on local reception options, introduced me to the florist and even communicated with them on taking care of a few things after the ceremony. She even prepared a plate for me with all my hours d’oeuvres selections so that I would be able to try them despite taking so much time for pictures (she even refilled my champagne – a few times). Even after the wedding date, she so generously assisted with some other additional requests. I can honestly say the Woolverton Inn would not be as amazing if it weren’t for Kate <3 she is a GEM!
As for the owners, Mario and Mary, they too contributed to the magic of these very special moments. All smiles and kind gestures, from my first interaction down to when, sadly, it was time to leave. The food was amazing, and all the interactions were genuinely wonderful. They brought me to happy tears as I sat on my cottage patio with my “husband” to share our very first breakfast together, when they had our 3-course meal delivered accompanied by a framed photo from our ceremony along with some other amazing mementos.
Anyone looking for an intimate or large event in a truly magical place – both with great food, amazing views and landscape and some of the BEST people around taking care of you, would not regret choosing Woolverton Inn. I cannot wait to go back in the future and stay a few nights – maybe an anniversary treat! From the bottom of my heard, thank you Kate, Mario and Mary - truly, I will never forget you or the lifelong memories I created at Woolverton Inn.
We were lucky to have our wedding at the woolverton inn this august and I could not say enough good things. The inn itself is stunning and impeccably well kept. Our guests were in ...
awe of the grounds and how well maintained it was. The beauty of the way the woolverton does weddings is you get the whole inn for the whole weekend and every staff member makes you feel like it’s yours to enjoy. Kate was our wedding planner and helped me bring the vision I had, which was not the traditional, to life in under 6 months. From the first email she was so open to what I wanted to do and was there to support it come to life. She made sure to connect on the details leading up to it but really shined the weekend of the wedding. Her ability to handle anything that came up without bothering me at all was so appreciated. When a rain storm rolled through as the wedding started, her and the team quickly pivoted and we barely noticed it happened! Mary and Mario, the owners, were so welcoming and did everything they could to make our weekend special. They were there from check in until breakfast Sunday and made sure to give us the best experience possible. We will think so fondly of the woolverton team and definitely recommend them to help bring your wedding vision to life!
I cannot sing The Woolverton Inn's praises enough & I don't think I'll ever stop! The second we stepped on the property, we knew it was the place for us. If we weren't already sold...
by the venue's beauty, we certainly were when we met the owners, Mario & Mary, and the best event coordinator we could've asked for, Kate. Our household tagline is now, "everyone needs a Kate for their wedding day!"
We're lucky enough to be one of the few couples that can say that our entire planning process was a dream from start to finish. The Woolverton's staff goes above and beyond to ensure all your needs are met and they blew our expectations right out of the water.
You won't find another place like this, I can guarantee you that! THANKS A MILLION WOOLVERTON CREW!!
Also...did I mention they have sheep??
When the pandemic took my dream proposal from me, My now husband and I were determined to make our wedding perfect.
I’m here to tell you Kailea and the entire staff of the woolve...
rton did just that.
From phone calls every day the week leading up to the wedding, to taking a small detail that just happened to be out of budget for me and making it happen in a different, yet no loss perfect way, I couldn’t have imagined a better day.
When we had to postpone twice, Kailea was there. When we had to scale back our wedding for not some happy reasons, Kailea was there. When I grew so frustrated by the entire process of planning a wedding, Kailea was there.
We initially booked the woolverton because my husband fell in love with the sheep. Who knew sheep would lead us to the most perfect day and lovely people.
The wedding itself was perfect. If there was a problem, not that I am aware of one, Kailea and the staff handled it. They stayed late and worked harder than any group of people I’ve ever met. Their drive to make sure their couples are happy is unmatched.
When I threw the chef a curveball at the last second and asked that my bridal party eat downstairs with us, the day after they obliged. And the food. That breakfast, I wish I could eat it every day. When we checked in they had my favorite cookies waiting. When I asked for lemon ricotta pancakes, that was my breakfast the morning of the wedding. Details are never ignored and I can’t tell you how much booking our wedding at the woolverton helped us relax on our day. I told Kailea I had no specific vision for the tent, because at that point, I was so burnt out with planning. She took small touches of our life together and made a lovely and unmatched space that screamed us, while still keeping in the decor and theming that I wanted. She made sure I had the iridescent cake I wanted. There was nothing left to chance.
Mary and Mario were beyond gracious, and gave me the opportunity to make the wedding work for us, beyond normal conditions. I can’t begin to express my gratitude.
Book here. You will not regret it.
Myself and my wife fell in love with Woolverton the second we toured it. The wedding planning process is always stressful, but I commend Kate for her calming emails when I was frea...
king out.
Their vendors are exceptional, both Emily’s Café and Catering and Brillmans brought our ideas to life and were very amenable to our requests. Despite living in a state deemed “liberal”, as a gay interracial couple there are always reservations going into this process, and fears, but Woolverton and the vendors were more than welcoming, and made us feel at home.
The fact that we could house so many of our traveling family in the beautiful cottages and rooms, have our rehearsal dinner (which they accommodated a food truck of our choice), and provided breakfast both days took a lot off our plate. Honestly that bacon was truly the best I’ve ever had in my life and I’m a chef.
When it came to the day, my make up and hair was done early so I spent most of the day milling around the grounds, and watching Kate and the vendors at work to make our dream come true.
Kate was around the entire rehearsal, wedding, reception and after party to ensure everything went smoothly and it did. It could not have gone more perfectly. Kate was ready once the ceremony was done with my wife’s sneakers to change into after running to our cottage, and also handled tying her bussel or whatever it's called. Honestly, I think if it had tried to rain Kate would have been there doing the most god damn passionate rain dance you would see in your life just to make sure our day was perfect.
The icing on the cake was the next morning when we arrived for breakfast and found three framed photos from the day on the piano, that Mario (owner) had taken, for us to take home. Mary gave us some Woolverton memorabilia to take home with us, and was always around as well to ensure everything was right.
Then to our surprise less than two weeks after the wedding we received a full digital album of all the pictures Mario took, which was so unexpected but so lovely as we wait for our official photographers’ pictures.
Woolverton takes care of their guests, and certainly their brides, tenfold. We knew the second we fell in love with the place that this would be the most magical day. We cannot thank Kate, Mario, Mary and all the other staff at Woolverton for everything they did. Despite all the stress of planning a wedding, arriving the Friday afternoon all that stress disappeared the second we got on the grounds, so tranquil and calm, plus the sheep are awesome, loud, but awesome.
P.S. don’t try jump the fence to play with the sheep you will get yelled at (my sister learned that the hard way)
Highly recommend Woolverton Inn as a wedding venue!
Fantastic Inn where guests have a home away from home for the weekend. Wonderful breakfasts and thoughtful amenities in the ro...
oms/cabins. The rooms were comfortable and quiet and it was great to be able to spend time with family & friends in town for the event.
From the Friday night rehearsal event, through the Sunday morning breakfast, everything was perfect! Kate Hanly is a rockstar and we loved working with her, Emily's Cafe & Catering and Brillman's to bring the brides' vision to life.
I'll start by saying that the grounds looked absolutely beautiful, and it was great to have our rehearsal dinner onsite. Our biggest complaints centered on our interactions with Ka...
te, with whom communication fell short leading up to--and during--the wedding. About six months out I told her I was thinking of hiring a day-of coordinator, and she assured me she was very hands-on and it wasn't necessary. The day of the wedding I literally did not see her until I walked down the aisle. We had a lot of DIY items to set up (I completely understand that was a lot to ask of her) but our entire extended family was staying at the inn and available to help. I noted so in my instructions. Upon seeing the tent I realized half the candles weren't set up, making the round tables look imbalanced. On the farm tables she placed bread plates (??) under the tapered candles, which looked horrible. I haven't seen that done at other Woolverton weddings. I had specifically asked about tapered candles and she mentioned needing hurricanes, but that was it. If I had known I would have skipped them entirely. These two things ruined my table settings and photos. The inn also misplaced our seating chart stand and table number holders, so my mom had to help look for them. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but when you spend a year poring over such details, it's upsetting. If Kate had checked in with me at any point during the day of the wedding to explain she needed assistance, a lot of frustration would have been avoided on both ends. The Woolverton Inn was a big stretch for us financially, and ultimately we do not feel the level of professionalism or organization reflected the high price tag.
Mario, Mary, Kailea, and the rest of the staff at the Woolverton Inn made magic happen for our wedding weekend. Our wedding plans changed multiple times due to COVID-19 and the Woo...
lverton pivoted with us and were absolutely wonderful and accommodating so that we could ultimately have our wedding celebration safely with our family and friends. Kailea was an absolute pleasure to work with—she took our vision for our wedding and helped us to shape the details and she perfectly executed the plans we made together for our weekend. We cannot say enough about how wonderful our experience with the Woolverton Inn was. We look forward to going back to the Woolverton Inn for our anniversaries in the future!
The only word to describe the Woolverton Inn is “magical.” From the beautifully manicured lawns, to the thoughtfully designed rooms and cottages, the Woolverton Inn feels like you ...
are living a fairytale. I was sold on this wedding venue the moment we stepped foot on the property and met Mary, one of the owners. Mary was warm and welcoming, and you could tell she really cared about creating a special weekend for us. Many venues will charge extra for special touches, like stringing lights, or adding a little greenery here and there. However, the Woolverton team consistently went above and beyond to incorporate special touches while never making it feel like they were trying to make an extra dollar or two. The wedding was about us, and they did everything in their power to make our weekend special and tailored to us as a couple.
Which brings me to my next point. The entire staff - from innkeepers, to cooks, to housekeeping, to groundkeepers - is truly, truly amazing. Kailea, our dedicated coordinator was nothing short of incredible. A perfect example was when our rehearsal dinner desserts did not arrive on time. After working with our caterer to sort out the issue, Kailea went to the kitchen and re-emerged 30 minutes later with freshly baked chocolate chip cookies to hold us over until the other desserts were delivered. She strikes the perfect balance of keeping everyone calm, while deftly managing the behind-the-scenes chaos that comes with hosting a large wedding. Not once over the course of our entire weekend did I feel stressed - Kailea had it all under control while making sure everyone was happy, comfortable and well-fed. On a scale of 1 to 10, she’s a 20.
One last thing that’s very unique about the Inn as a wedding venue in particular - it’s yours for the entire weekend, meaning you get to spend quality time with you family and bridal parties from the rehearsal through Sunday brunch - without the headache of ever having to leave the property. Rehearsal dinner, hair & makeup, ceremony, and reception all take place in one location making it seamless every step of the way.
I can’t speak highly enough about this place or it’s team, and can’t wait to spend many anniversaries visiting them again for a special night away!
We threw our perfect wedding at the Woolverton. The upshot is that they were incredibly professional on the wedding weekend (dealing with adverse weather, for example), helped us c...
reate the weekend we wanted when we initially thought about getting married, and the setting is beautiful to boot.
At times there was a little frustration on my and my wife's part about what we viewed as additional or unexpected costs--we would suggest speaking with Mary rather than Mario when setting out the vision of your wedding, as Mary will be the one you're working with more frequently, she runs the Inn day-to-day, and there were some moments of us thinking Mario told us one thing and Mary would tell us another--but in the end we were extremely happy we had our wedding at the Woolverton, hence the 5 stars.
We'd also like to give a big shout-out to our coordinator, Kailea, who's a champ and executed the whole thing to perfection, allowing my wife and me to spend the weekend with our guests rather than worrying about all the moving parts.
The Woolverton Inn is such a beautiful place to host a wedding. See Kasey Ivan Photography's blog for yourself! http://www.kaseyivanphotography.com/juliane-ryan-woolverton-inn-wedd...

You don't even need to do any decorating if you didn't want! The owners truly put their heart and sole into the upkeep and making sure your wedding day runs as smooth as possible. To them it is not just another wedding- each wedding has it's unique importance and you feel that throughout the planning process. Our wedding weekend was truly magical and we couldn’t be happier with our decision to host it at the Woolverton. We received countless compliments from our friends and family about how unique and beautiful everything was, especially the venue.
The Woolverton owners and event planners combined with the beautiful and charming venue, creates something very memorable.
When my daughter and her fiancé said they wanted a small, intimate, outdoor wedding my husband and I headed for the internet to find the perfect place. Well, my husband did just th...
at when he found the Woolverton Inn. From the moment we first visited, we knew we’d found exactly what they wanted.
I don’t think there could be a more beautiful place to hold a wedding. You can see all the love that goes into making the entire property something special. The landscaping is absolutely beautiful, especially this time of year with all the trees turning spectacular colors and the late blooming flowers. And, our personal favorite, the friendly sheep who can’t wait to come up to everyone looking for treats. The Inn itself, is one of the most charming I’ve ever seen. You can immediately see the love and care taken to make every inch of the Inn and cottages beautiful. Everyone is super friendly; the rooms are stunning, and the gourmet breakfasts are to die for.
The entire process of planning the wedding was a pleasure. Since my daughter and her husband live in Australia, I was handling much of the wedding prep myself. Needless to say, I was a nervous wreck. Thank goodness for Innkeepers Mario and Mary and Kailea, the onsite wedding coordinator. They all guided me through all the prep, made great suggestions when I wasn’t sure what to do and were prompt with answers every time I felt the need to bombard them with emails filled with questions. They were patient, understanding, friendly and extremely helpful.
Everything went off without a hitch even when it looked like the wedding day might be a washout because of rain. We’d planned an outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour but as Sunday dawned, it was pouring. Kailea was incredible. I swear, she never stops to take a breath. She went through every possible option of what we could do indoors, and she went out of her way to make sure the inside of the Inn was even more gorgeous than usual for the ceremony to be moved indoors. She was a font of great ideas and advice. I truly don’t know what I would have done without her.
By some miracle, just as we were approaching the time of the ceremony, the rain stopped, and the sun was actually shining. Because of Kailea’s incredible organizational skill, and her determination to give my daughter the outside wedding she was wanted, she was able to quickly shift everything back outdoors without missing a beat. She was incredible and she made the entire day move smoothly and effortlessly.
The Woolverton has some really fantastic vendors they work with and we chose to use Emily’s Café and Catering for the wedding dinner. The food was absolutely incredible. The entire day, from the moment we all gathered together for a fantastic breakfast to the end of the evening, singing songs and making smores around the fire pit, was perfection.
Regardless if your wedding is large or small, there is nowhere I can think of that could make a wedding more perfect and beautiful than the Woolverton Inn. I’m still hearing from guests about how much fun they had. I can’t recommend them highly enough.
Thank you Mario, Mary and especially Kailea for making my daughter’s wedding a day we will all remember forever. I know how many weddings you were all organizing in the weeks leading up to ours. It’s incredible how you were all able to make us feel like ours was the most important wedding of all. I still can’t believe how perfect it all was! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!
We just hosted our wedding the Woolverton on September 7th, and I highly recommend to anyone looking for this type of venue.
We were looking specifically for somewhere we could h...
ave our friends and family stay with us the whole weekend and maximize the time spent together around the wedding. I'll start with the actual grounds and accomodations – everything was spectacular. You can see how much work Mario and Mary put into the property, from the landscaping and flowers to the beautiful rooms and cottages. You feel like you are in your own backyard, but infused with luxury and elegance. There are so many beautiful touches throughout the property that make it feel more like an estate, but with sheep (big bonus!). We were also looking to have an outdoor tented wedding and this property already has one built in, which is such a perk since most places charge you extra to bring in an event tent.
Mario and Mary were so communicative and helpful throughout the whole process, and answered all my questions (and I had a lot) promptly. Kailea, who is the innkeeper and on-site coordinate is WONDERFUL, and was instrumental in making it the smoothest and most perfect day. The Woolverton also works with really wonderful vendors and has a relationship with Emily's Cafe and Catering, who we had the pleasure of working with also. The food was delicious!
If you are looking for an outdoor wedding in NJ where you can rent for the whole weekend and keep everything in one location – I highly recommend the Woolverton!
We'll be back next year for our anniversary :)
Absolute perfection from start to finish.
We were looking for a venue that was different from the usual wedding hall with chandelier, something with more personality and character ...
and soul. We came across the Woolverton Inn by googling "english countryside wedding in NJ", and after our first tour of the grounds, we knew immediately it was our venue. Mary and Mario, the Innkeepers, are personally and passionately invested in making the Woolverton the best and most beautiful Inn possible. It's evident in their constant gardening, improvements, and caretaking of the historical building and grounds. Calling it beautiful doesn't do it justice -- it's a stunning work of art.
Also, there are sheep on the grounds, and they're as friendly as dogs! It's country, it's garden, it's rustic, it's historic, and luxurious. Renting out the entire Inn for the weekend was so much fun. An entire weekend with our families and closest friends, a fire pit in the evenings, delicious chef-designed breakfasts in the mornings, and the run of the whole place. It extended the wedding festivities into an entire weekend, and gave us even more time to spend with our most loved ones.
Once we chose the venue, it was time for details, organization, decor, scheduling, vendors, and KAILEA. Kailea is the live-in, day-of coordinator and master of all details. She is lovely, kind, super organized, incredibly available, attentive, and amazing. Do everything she tells you and everything will be great! She knows everything about weddings, and is full of great advice and ideas.
Once all the details were in place, and the weather showed up sunny and hot, we just sat back and enjoyed the roller coaster ride of the wedding day. It was a dreamy, perfect, magical, beautiful, emotional, fun fun fun day. Our guests are still raving about how beautiful the venue was, how delicious the food (Emily's Cafe and Catering), how fun the band was, and how perfect of an evening it was. Thank you so much to Mary, Mario, and Kailea for making us feel so taken care of during our weekend. Even though I'm sure there were other weddings you were organizing, you made us feel like ours was the most important thing to you and from Friday check in to Sunday check out, we felt like queens and kings of the place. Our wedding weekend was beyond our greatest expectations, and I know it was all because we chose the Woolverton Inn. Thank you!
I truly can't say enough about our wedding at The Woolverton Inn. It was absolutely the best day of our lives, thanks in large part to the awesome team there. Kailea, Mario, Mary a...
nd their team are a dream to work with - they were on top of every single detail so that on the day of the wedding I was totally stress-free. Not to mention the setting was absolutely gorgeous. Our guests came up to us all night commenting on how beautiful the location was, and wondering how we found it! We hosted our ceremony, reception, and after party on site, and really had the time of our lives. I can't recommend Woolverton enough!
Our wedding weekend at the Woolverton Inn could not have been more perfect. The team at the inn truly rolled out the red carpet for us and our guests, and helped us to make the wed...
ding we envisioned a reality. I had tons of questions throughout the process and the team was always quick to provide a thorough response and offer guidance when it was needed. Every detail was thought of and effortlessly coordinated - a huge thank you to Kailea for being so pleasant to work with, for helping us through those stressful weeks leading up to the big day, and ultimately for creating an incredible and unforgettable weekend for us with Mary, Mario and the Staff. In addition to this, the inn itself is just beautiful. It is charming, meticulously kept, and the grounds are bucolic and breathtaking. I can't say enough great things about the inn! But I can confidently say that we will be back for many, many visits at this wonderful place.
