Jacq is not only an amazing person, but an unbelievable photographer! After shooting our engagement shoot, we actually formed an awesome relationship and eased all my photography related worries for my big day. She listened to any concerns I had about photos and her results speak for themselves. With all the worries that come with planning a wedding, I am so glad I didnt have to worry about disliking my photos!

I’ve reviewed LoveInTheory almost 4 years ago when my husband and I were fortunate to have Jacq and her team so perfectly capture the magic of our wedding day as well as our engagement shoot that felt more like a fun day of prancing around Manhattan with a friend. Well, I’m back to rave about LoveInTheory but this time for a very different stage in our lives- our son’s newborn photoshoot. A family member knew how special Jacquie’s photography was for us during our wedding and so thoughtfully gifted us a photoshoot with LoveInTheory to capture our baby’s first photoshoot. Because we know Jacq’s unique vision and style, we were ecstatic that we would have such a cool, editorial, and edgy-yet-warm take on a baby photoshoot. Jacq knew how to capture the “adorable” without the “cheese”. Somehow our sleepless, zombie selves looked like we had it all together in the chicest way in the comfort of our own home. She even took special notice of our dogs and brought presents for them so they’d feel just as important as our newest family member. It’s all about the thoughtful details that make working with this team extra special. Months later, I look back at those photos and cherish the realness she captured of us just figuring out this whole parenting thing. Once again, a round of applause and thanks to LoveInTheory for being there for us during such a special part of our lives. Jacq- the Queen of photography - our family adores you.

Jacq was really great at understanding how our personalities would translate to the visuals. I also appreciated how she pushed back, softly and respectfully, on a few things we didn't want by explaining what that might mean for the photos. We did a small dinner and we didn't want posed photos with family and the wedding party, but she explained that it's a good opportunity to ensure that you have photos with literally everyone, because it can be easy to lose track during the evening. She did them quickly and encouraged some natural poses, and I really am thankful that she encouraged it. Same goes for the "first look" shot. I always thought it was a little cheesey, but I didn't realize how bottled up my emotions were that day, and it was good moment to reflect on that before the ceremony was underway. So overall, her guidance was really judicious and helpful.

Jacq and her assistant photographer, Q, were amazing, and our photos completely surpassed our expectations. Jacq did both our engagement shoot and our wedding, and we were lucky that she was willing and able to travel from NYC to SF for our wedding. She was great at answering any questions we had, understanding our vision and goals for the big day, and kept an open line of communication throughout our entire planning process. She also was great for just wedding advice in general, too, and she was helpful for me on so many occasions. She made the day of very easy for the both of us, as did Q, and we felt like they really listened to us. Our photos speak for themselves, and we absolutely love them, as do all of our friends and family! 6 months later and we are still getting so many compliments on how they turned out :)

We hired Jacq for our July 2020 wedding and although the wedding hasn't happened yet, the experience so far has been nothing short of amazing. Jacq is timely with her communication and makes it really easy to work with her in a time that can be VERY stressful. We had our engagement shoot early December and my oh my how the photos DELIVERED. Words can’t even begin to describe how incredible our experience with Love In Theory was!!! I urge you to book her right now because her schedule fills up fast, and rightfully so! Friends of ours had the most amazing wedding pictures and realizing me & my fiancé both loved them, we reached out to our friends. It needs to be said that I do not photograph well. I don’t know what it is, but if I know I’m being photographed this is what usually happens: 1. I close my eyes 99.9% of the time 2. I make wonky leg poses 3. The faces I make will remind you of Sloth from The Goonies. But Jacq is a NINJA and somehow made me look like I knew how to pose! Seriously, she made me look like I know how to get my picture taken, and I don’t! My only regret is that I didn’t have Jacq be our wedding coordinator. She eliminated all of our worries. And was amazing at keeping us on schedule. There are certain people you come across in life who put you at ease from the moment you meet them. Jacq is one of those people, and exactly the kind of person you need by your side, on what can be a very stressful day, if you don’t have the right team around you. We were so fortunate to have Love In Theory as part of our wedding a-team that really made the day stress free. Jacq’s grace, humility, talent and work ethic are a rare combination. Jacquie is amaaazing!!! We booked Love in Theory for our wedding in Sept 2018. My husband and I got good vibes from the first moment we met her and that continued on through our engagement session and our wedding! Jacquie was able to capture really beautiful and special moments for us to cherish the rest of our lives! ❤️ Jacquie is very personal, friendly, honest and attentive. From our first meeting, she really discusses her clients vision, the special day, the location, etc. She takes the time to get to know you and understand your needs. We chose Jacq to do our engagement and wedding day photos and couldn’t be happier with how the whole process has gone so far! My fiance and I have truly enjoyed working with Jacq over the last few months. We just sent out our Save the Dates and many of our friends have commented on how Jacq's photo captures the love between my fiance and I. We first interviewed Jacq over skype and immediately felt comfortable with her. All the references we contacted raved about working with her and we decided to book her for both our engagement shoot and wedding. We're glad we did! Our engagement shoot took place in late November in NY. Since we don't currently reside in NYC, Jacq helped to identify locations that matched us and our vibe. Jacq is extremely responsive to email, which we great appreciate. Our e-shoot took place mostly in the LES. We visited a few locations and generally adventured around the area looking for cool murals and holiday decorations. We felt very comfortable during the shoot and Jacq only gave small suggestion on how to interact. Nothing ever felt contrived or forced. We received the photos perfectly on time. We highly recommend working with Jacq and Love in Theory!

We did our engagement photos with Jacq (and will be doing our wedding photos soon!) in the East Village in NYC. Our session was nothing short of great. She was personable, professional, and flexible with our ideas to make sure we were able to shoot in the locations we wanted. She helped guide us and made us feel relaxed throughout the whole process, and of course, our photos turned out amazing! Her attention to detail really showed!

Jacq from Love in Theory went above and beyond for our wedding. The day before the wedding she called to check in and calm any last minute nerves. When I casually mentioned we decided not to do a guest book since it was one more thing to get and I didn't have time, Jacq took it upon herself to go out and buy materials to create a gorgeous guest book for us to use. My fiance and I recently had our engagement photo shoot with Jacq. The entire experience starting from initial contact through photo session, and delivery of the final product - everything was perfect. I could immediately tell that she cares very much about her clients and her work. We had to schedule the session last minute, and Jacq made her very best to make herself available. She even agreed to drive 2 hours out of the city with us because we wanted a specific location. The photos are absolutely beautiful. We wanted to avoid the typical photos with everything bright and white with awkward poses. Jacq's photos were exactly what we wanted - tons of character, variety of angles, and natural/honest moments of us. Jacq helped us feel comfortable and captured the perfect moments. People who have seen the photos said they could see how completely in love and happy we are through the photos. Jacq will also be the photographer at our wedding in a few months and we cannot wait!!

We hired Jacquie for our engagement shoot - she caught our eye because I felt she really captured the emotions and feeling of a couple, which is exactly what we wanted! While the classic poses work for some, we wanted an authentic session that showed US as a couple. WOW did she deliver!!! From before our shoot even started I felt a connection to Jacquie and a really comfortable around her. We went over our time without even realizing because it just felt like my fiance and I were on a date having an amazing time - all of which shows in our pictures. Jacquie made us laugh authentically, and for two people that don't like our photos taken...it truly felt like she was just talking to us. We're still in contact now about many life things, and I know we will continue to be so long after our wedding is done. On top of that, Jacquie goes above and beyond in all aspects of the photography. It is her business, and she shows you that you're not just another number, but a really special part of her year and life. The follow-up after our engagement, and even the adorable way she sends you your photos all made me feel like the most beautiful bride-to-be all over again. Highly recommended Jacq! We never met her before and traveling a long way from HK to hire her as our pre-wedding photographer. Since we were new to NYC and she gave us lots to cool, stylish recommnedations. She is very professional, efficient and created a super cool memory for us!

My husband and I booked Love in Theory after seeing how amazing our friend’s wedding photos were. Jacq was the best! Very accomdating- we had a few hiccups at our wedding and jacq totally played it like a boss and got amazing photos of us! She captured all the moments I missed. Working with Love in Theory for our wedding photography was a great experience, very natural, low stress, and the results were fantastic. Jacq came highly recommended, and we fully endorse their work. We wanted a photographer that would be easy to work with, not demand too much from us on the day of, yet also deliver one-of-a-kind but not contrived shots. They absolutely delivered. After meeting with Jacq in advance and talking through our day-of plans, we were able to nail down a timeline that gave us plenty of options, and Jacq and Gui's flexibility was much appreciated. I can't stress enough how awesome, talented, generous, sincere and caring Jacq is.She is such a dedicated person; despite being under the weather, she photographed our wedding with full gumption. From helping me plan the timeline to coming up with hanger ideas for my sari photos to being patient with my chaotic Indian/Bangladeshi family, she was the best! She even came over to my place the day before during my henna and hung out with us and tried laddoos :). It's so important to be comfortable around your photographer during the wedding, since you are letting them into your personal space, with Jacq it was really easy and enjoyable. I booked Love in Theory for my 10th anniversary / wedding my husband had on 8/26/17. Within the first 5 minutes of meeting Jacquie I knew she was the right photographer for us. She has a very different style than most wedding photographers and that is what we wanted. For our engagement shoot, we had her take pictures of our dogs instead and those pictures turned out amazing. The morning of our wedding Jacquie showed up on time (7:30 am) with a hanger she had made for my dress that was stunning. Her second photographer was with my husband and made him feel very comfortable in front of the camera. So far the pictures that she has sent are beautiful and I am getting a ton of compliments. I have several people asking me to send them Love in Theory’s information for their upcoming wedding. I highly recommend this company and am hoeing that I will get to work with her again if I ever need and amazing photographer.

After being engaged for a little over a year, my fiancé and I decided to have a small elopement in NYC. We had no time to plan anything and we had no budget. We knew the most important thing to us was the memories. In that, we decided to find the best photographer to capture our intimate day. LoveinTheory was not only an AMAZINGLY TALENTED photographer but she turned out to be my Maid of Honor!! In a matter of seconds Jacq noticed I was short of help and offered to do everything that was needed and had yet to be done (and we took her up on that offer!)! Jacq is a wonderful artist and human being, she is kindhearted, funny, relaxed, and smart. Both my fiancé and I felt like she was our life-long friend from the first coffee she had with us! We felt completely comfortable throughout the entire photoshoot and saw a great sneak peek at the end of the day!! Gui was so fun to have around and an indispensable piece to our experience! He captured stills and even VIDEO so we would have an edited film of our wedding as a surprise! I met Jacq through a friend and let me just say I am ABSOLUTELY happy I was given this recommendation. They say to choose the 3 most important things to focus on when planning a wedding. You can't have the best of everything when working with a budget. We decided that a great photographer was definitely in the top 3 priorities. After weeks of thoroughly researching photographers and meeting with a few in person, my heart kept going back to Love in Theory's, Jacquie Lew because of her beautiful use of color, light and romantic & whimsical vision that comes through in all of her photos. After meeting Jacquie in person to get to know each other over coffee, we felt instantly calmed from her laid-back, West-Coast personality and her top-notch professionalism. We knew we found the one. A week later, we shot our engagement photos 3 days before Jacquie was leaving for an extended trip. To our shock, she made the time to send us our photos the day after the shoot despite her upcoming trip. We also received the thumb drive in the mail just days later. It came in the CUTEST packaging. Jacquie really pays attention to the little things and made us feel so special (refer to her blog!). After all that, this is the best part: Our. Pictures. Were. Amazing! We went into the shoot feeling like we would be total stiffs in front of the camera and somehow Jacquie made us relaxed and that came through in the pictures 10 fold. We are pretty much obsessed with them and now have 5 of them going on our Save The Dates because we can't narrow them down any further. All my friends have been raving about her work. Some brides have contacted me for her info already. The wedding is in a few months and I'm confident that I will have even more amazing things to say after that day. Overall, we adore Jacquie and feel like she's not only our talented photographer, but our friend. We are so lucky and blessed that we found her. Jacquie - Thank you x a million!

Jacquie absolutely made my engagement session vision come true! Since I am having a Decemeber wedding, I want to be able to take the engagement session in the snow. Lo and behold, snow storm Jonas bellowed. Jacquie braved the storm with us and delivered amazing photos that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. She is such a doll to work with! She's completely down to earth and have a keen eye for detail. She even took the time to help choose my outfit. I can't wait to work with her during the wedding!

Jacqui (and Richard) are the best. After a few initial engagement shoots Jacqui was really able to figure out how to make us relax and look good in our photos. Jacq and her team at Love in Theory were an absolute delight to work with from start to finish. While Jacq was unavailable for our actually wedding day, she had one of her phenomenal associates and his equally amazing assistant work with us to capture and create the most stunning collection of photos we could have ever imagined, all the while possessing an incredible professionalism that many of our guests and wedding party members couldn't help but take note of themselves. I absolutely loved working with Jacq at LoveinTheory, formerly Photo Philosophies! She worked with me and my husband during our NYC City Hall Wedding, taking photos during the ceremony and around the city afterward. Communication with Jacq was super easy and she was and continues to be very responsive to all my questions before, during, and after our big day. She's also very easy-going and chill to be around, which is perfect for a potentially stressed-out bride. Lastly, I chose Jacq after a long search for a photographer who I felt could take the types of photos I wanted. Beautiful documentary style photos that could capture our personalities and our love of the city was super important and Jacq absolutely delivered!

We used Jacquie for our wedding and she was great! She has such a unique eye for photos that we were unable to find with any other photographer. She wasn't your standard wedding photographer with lame poses which is why we chose her. She was so personable and easy to get in touch with. The day of the wedding she had a list of every photo we needed (family, friends, etc) which helped the whole process run smoothly. Will definitely recommend her again!

Photo philosophies was referred to me by a photographer friend and I could not have been happier. Jacq is so easy to work with and has a great eye for detail and for style. She gives you all the information upfront and then let's you make the decision that is best for you and your wedding. I planned my wedding from across the country and I never worried as she was responsive and timely with everything. I wish I could marry my husband every year just to work with her again. Well, Jacquie first took the time to really get to know my fiancé Michelle and I as a couple and we really hit it off, she really understood the vision and overall look that we wanted for our wedding and her style of photography was just perfect. We had fantastic e-shoot; friends, family members and co-workers commented that our pictures looked like they were out of a magazine! Her work is candid and different, we wanted no part in posed photography. We requested her for our engagement photos, and we were so impressed by her calm, confident, and cool eye for getting interesting and unique photos that we asked her to be our wedding photographer as well...in Mexico! Lucky for us, she wasn't booked yet and not only did she capture every incredible and memorable moment, but Jacquie was helpful, accommodating and supportive throughout the entire wedding. We didn't ever feel like we were conducting a business transaction for services, rather, we were working closely with a friend who had awesome photography equipment! My husband and I were always last minute with certain details of the wedding. We were in dire need of a photographer and everyone who was either recommended or we found online were booked or just didn't have the look we were going for. Jacquie Lew's photo's online were beyond amazing and when we first met with her, not only was she so easy going and laid back, she was fully prepared to walk us through her experiences with shooting weddings; giving tips, getting an understanding of who we are as a couple so it's portrayed through photos, and being flexible with payments. Jacquie Lew from Photo Philosophies did the photo shoot for our elopement in New York City's Central Park. She is extremely talented and creative, and she has such a beautiful way with Natural Light! The photos I've seen so far are amazing! They are actually so good, that my mom looked at them and said "they look like they were taken off a magazine". She not only spent time with my husband and I, but also included my parents and my maid-of-honor in the photos. Then, because she is so sweet, she took a few photos of my parents by themselves, so they could have professional photos to celebrate their 37 years of Marriage!
