This Old Church

Based in Vernon Center, NY, This Old Church is a banquet-hall style wedding venue brimming with historical significance. The architectural details offer a stunning backdrop for engagement parties, showers, rehearsal dinners, and weddings. With both indoor and outdoor options for hosting events, couples can easily create the nuptial celebration of their dreams. This Old Church was originally the Vernon Center Presbyterian Church and was constructed in 1812, making it the town’s first church. In 1839 the building was moved and renovated. The church underwent construction again in 1885, with the addition of stained glass windows, a portico, a foyer, and a larger steeple. Now on the Register for Historic Places, the building is a part of the Vernon Center Green Historic District. A wedding day at This Old Church can begin on the Ground Floor. With the main room, a dressing room, and a catering kitchen, there is plenty of prep space for the couple and their wedding party. It can also be used for the cocktail reception. The Front Foyer is a suitable space for guests to enjoy drinks as well. Its hardwood flooring, pressed-tin details on the wall and ceiling, and double-porch entryway make it an ideal space to welcome guests in. The Sanctuary Hall functions as the main event space and can be used for ceremonies and receptions. The vaulted ceilings above and original wood flooring below are illuminated beautifully with the light falling through the stained-glass windows. The one-acre Lawn dotted by old maple trees can also be used for outdoor events with space for a tent. We welcome outside vendors for catering and decoration hire. Across the Maple Park, the renovated Historic Vernon Schoolhouse can provide overnight accommodation and function as a dressing room. And more lodging, a tea room and kitchen are available between them non the Maple Park at the Historic Cody Homestead.
