Hello and congrats! Our historic distillery restoration is now complete and you're in luck - we have a few remaining open dates available in 2022 and 2023! We would be honored to host your big day here at Thornton Distilling Company. We are centrally located just a short drive south of Chicago. The rich history of our distillery dates back to 1857 when John Bielfeldt built the Bielfeldt Brewing Company here on the scenic banks of Thorn Creek. Located next to the largest forest preserve in the region, our building is the oldest standing brewery in Illinois and one of the oldest in the US. The building once housed Al Capone's largest bootlegging facility during prohibition and has survived through fires, floods, a tornado, and even a government raid during Prohibition in the 1920s. Thornton Distilling Company has now been restored to its former glory with modern amenities. The space offers an industrial-chic style that is both timeless and elegant. Standing as a testament to Chicago's enduring spirit, this venue is proud to share both its history and unique experience with couples celebrating a new chapter of their lives together. There is plenty to both see and explore at Thornton Distilling Company. Light floods into nearly every room, illuminating the brick and steel structure with an ethereal glow. Couples who are seeking a truly outstanding and memorable venue are encouraged to reach out to discuss their wants and needs to find a solution that is tailor-fit to their wedding occasion. Newly refurbished with state-of-the-art amenities, The Well at the Distillery combines contemporary sophistication with retro charm. Ceremonies can be held right in or in Distiller’s Hall, which features crisscrossing wood beams and a warehouse-chic aesthetic. This space is adjacent to the courtyard and tasting room, where bartenders will hand-craft refreshments at a limestone bar for your cocktail hour. After exchanging vows and enjoying drinks, retire upstairs for the reception, where the ballroom boasts exposed brick walls, vaulted ceilings, and rustic accents. This hall also has a bar and an outdoor patio where you can sip custom-infused cocktails and socialize with loved ones late into the evening. The Well at the Distillery offers all-inclusive packages that will allow you to relax on your big day knowing every detail has been arranged. The most comprehensive of these come with eight hours of wedding time in the entire facility, a one-hour rehearsal, and help with setup. Also provided are tables and chairs, white linens, string lights and uplighting, and professional event management.
