Hyland Hills Ski Area is a unique wedding venue in Minneapolis, Minnesota, situated in the scenic 1,000-acre Hyland Lake Park Reserve. This beautiful chalet offers 40-foot windows, stunning views of the ski slopes, and a warm, welcoming interior. It makes the perfect location for an unforgettable wedding day.
Hyland Hills Chalet is only available for event rentals mid-April to October 1.
Facilities and Capacity
Hyland Hills Chalet can seat up to 320 guests. Inside the chalet, the Alpine Room is available for indoor ceremonies and receptions. This welcoming space features a soaring pine ceiling and expansive windows for ample natural light. There are also dressing rooms, restrooms, a sound system, and a dance floor, so you'll have everything you need for a great night's entertainment. An outdoor patio with tables and chairs gives the space an indoor-outdoor feel, and is perfect for yard games or cocktail hour. A second space, the Ridgeview Room, is included with weekend rentals, and can be used for storage or getting ready.
Ceremony Options
Included in your room rental are ceremony sites indoors or on the Great Lawn. Couples must provide outdoor ceremony chairs. Hyland Hills Ski Area offer an optional picturesque hilltop site for outdoor ceremonies (June 1 - October 1), letting you exchange vows surrounded by breathtaking views. Your guests will be transported to the ceremony site on a chair lift for an extra-special touch. Top of the Hill ceremonies are an additional fee.
Services Offered
The team at Hyland Hills Ski Area will provide you with tables and chairs, an audiovisual system with a projector and screen, and flat-screen TVs. Hyland recommends a DJ or Band to provide your reception sound. An event assistant will be on-site throughout the day to handle anything venue related. For an additional fee, you may also opt for a day-of coordinator, an outdoor PA system, high-top tables, and a range of decor items. The venue is your vendor for all bar services (beer & wine only), and has partnered with some of the best local caterers on our approved catering list to provide your reception meal. They can also offer you a list of preferred vendors for flowers, transportation, overnight accommodation, and more.

Hyland Hills was the perfect venue for our April 2024 wedding. You can't beat the location -- plenty of hotels and transportation options close by. We loved that they were a Zero Waste facility and work with vendors who share the same values. The chalet is stunning with floor to ceiling windows, large outdoor patio space, tons of parking and built-in bar. They offered a large selection of local craft beer, wine and seltzers which was another big perk for us! Their staff was friendly, responsive and on top of every detail when it came to the planning process. They also have very competitive pricing for the value/space and being a Twin Cities venue.

We had the best experience getting married at Hyland Hills! Suzanne was a pleasure to work with from the beginning planning stages all the way through the wedding day. The the venue has so many beautiful spots for photos, inside and out. The Ridgeview room was perfect for getting ready, and our guests loved getting to spend time on the patio. Overall, the space was perfect for us, and we’d recommend this venue to any couple looking for a beautiful and versatile space for their big day!

An absolutely wonderful space that fit our needs perfectly. Easy to set up a sound system and plenty of room (and extra room) for our ~150 guests. Use of the outdoor space was also a huge bonus!

Hyland Hills is truly the best venue! My husband and I hosted our wedding reception there on 9/10/22 and it was everything we wanted in a venue and more. There were a lot of great features/amenities to the venue (plenty of parking, tables and chairs, plenty of parking, established dance floor, several TVs for personal use, etc.) made it ideal, then special features such as the yard space, fire table, patio lighting, extra rooms, rentable items, and GREAT staff made this venue even more exceptional! Furthermore, this is by far the most reasonably priced venue, and it is worth every penny. Our guests gave our venue extensive praise, particularly on how spacious and beautiful it was, and we could not agree more. We highly recommend Hyland Hills!!

Loved working with the staff at Highland Hills for our wedding reception! We did it very casual and they made it a breeze. They provided lawn games and had all of the tables set up when we got there. They were very affordable with the wonderful service and GORGEOUS view and venue that you get. Would definitely recommend and will be using for future events!

We loved this venue from the start. Our wedding was in July, and we host both our ceremony and reception in the chalet. Great views and fun times are easy to have in this location. We didn't need to decorate a lot, the views from inside of the venue were fantastic. Loved having the ability for guests to go outside and enjoy the views and get some fresh air. We hired The Look Out as our caterer, and they worked great with the Hyland Hills. Our DJ was MN Wedding Party, which worked great with Hyland Hills as well. Hyland Hills provided the bar support, which was great on a hot day. We received lots of compliments from our guests about how beautiful the wedding venue was. We were so happy to have our wedding in this venue. A special thanks to Suzanne for helpping make our wedding such a special day in your venue!

We had our redo wedding reception at Hyland Hills and got lots of compliments on the venue! The chalet fit our needs perfectly and I would recommend it to anyone! Suzanne, the venue's coordinator, was very responsive, and the bar staff on hand the day of were helpful when we had questions or needs. I loved that this venue is on the lower side price-wise, can accommodate 300+ guests, and offers the flexibility to coordinate with any of the 20+ caterers on their approved list. On the big day, we could get in anytime after 10 am to decorate, but the ceiling and windows were so pretty that the space required minimal decoration! Guests had a great time on the outdoor patio as well. All in all a great experience.

Beautiful venue! Suzanne worked with us very well all the way through the day of to ensure our outdoor ceremony and indoor reception would go without a hitch! Responsive, flexible, very easy venue to work with! Ridgeview room was a great addition to have a getting ready/home base for the day. Had a wonderful send off down the stairs here! Very reasonable venue price! Going with Hyland Hills is a great wedding ceremony and/or reception choice.

My fiance and I were scheduled to have our wedding here this July. When we originally toured the facility, we felt at home right away. The large windows allow a TON of natural light - seriously, if that's your thing, you need to check this out! - and showcase the green hills, but the internal wooden structure and exposed pipe also provide an industrial vibe. It is a large venue that will comfortably host a bigger wedding but could be downsized without drowning a smaller party.
Unfortunately, we had to reconfigure our wedding due to COVID-19, so our celebration this summer will look different that planned. But what I would really like to say about Hyland is that Suzanne and her team are PHENOMENAL. After working with many vendors during the planning - and then re-planning process - I can confidently say that they have level of responsiveness and flexibility that is not common in the wedding industry. Hyland is not only a gorgeous venue, but will minimize your wedding planning stress!

We had our wedding reception here and it was amazing! It is a beautiful venue and in a convenient location. There was ample free parking, bathrooms, and overall space for all of our guests.
The large windows and beautiful scenery allows for minimal decorations needed which is a huge plus. They provide a dance floor.
Hyland is a HUGE venue and with our guest count of 95, we were afraid that the space would be too big, but it worked out perfectly and it felt like the perfect size!
Prices are comparable to other venues in the area. You have to choose from a list of caterers, but the list was actually a good place to start and had some great options.
We would definitely recommend Hyland for your wedding reception!

Loved getting married at this space! Suzanne, our contact person throughout the planning process was always helpful and responsive, right up to our wedding day! The space is beautiful and clean, and I love that you can get married and enjoy cocktail hour outside but also have the inside option if it's bad weather and to have dinner.
Also wanted to comment that I heard GREAT things about our bartenders (who are brought in from Hyland Hills) which added to the guests' experience. Would highly recommend this space!

We can't say enough good things about Hyland Hills! Suzanne and her team were amazing. We had our ceremony off site at Richardson Nature Center (same park district) and had the reception at Hyland. We loved the layout of this venue with the floor to ceiling windows overlooking the ski hill, rain or shine (we had both) it was stunning! The patio and lawn space were great options for guests to get some fresh air during the reception. We did very little decorating–this space doesn't even need any decorations. We received so many compliments from our family and friends on the space, and are so grateful to have had our wedding at Hyland Hills!

Hyland Hills was absolutely perfect for our ceremony and reception. The building and grounds are gorgeous, providing numerous locations for pictures and gathering. We were able to get ready at the venue and keep our things secure throughout the evening. The chalet required very little extra decorations thanks to the wall of windows overlooking the ski hill. Suzanne was fantastic to work with throughout the whole process; she responded to my emails quickly and directly, and she never denied an in-person meeting :) The other staff we interacted with were professional and helpful. My 7 year old sister cut her toe during family pictures, and Hyland staff responded calmly, getting her a wheelchair (she felt very special), and bringing her away from the action to get cared for. Our only negative was one of the blinds was broken, so a few of our tables were blinded by the sun for about 20 minutes. Overall, we are so glad we chose Hyland Hills for our special day!

Hyland Hills is a hidden gem in the city. It’s the first and only venue we looked at because I was blown away by it. The drive back to the ski chalet is beautiful on it’s own and once you enter the main room, the huge windows overlooking the ski hill steal the show. It’s beautiful and feels like you’re outdoors with all of the windows. The staff was awesome to work with and there weren’t any hidden fees. Great job!

What a great location for a wedding! It was perfect for the wedding and the reception. Our guests were really wowed at the venue.
It has its own beauty that doesn't need much decorating.
The fire pit was a nice bonus for a chilly evening.

We got married at Hyland Hills Ski Chalet on 9/1/18 and we couldn’t have asked for a more amazing experience. The stunning views of the ski hill and city skyline are truly breathtaking and were more than memorable to us and our guests. This venue is relaxing, affordable, beautiful (both indoors & outdoors) and easy to work with. Suzanne and the Hyland Hills staff went above and beyond to ensure that everything we dreamed of on our wedding day was turned into a reality.

we had our reception here and it was even more beautiful than i could have imagined! I recommend getting up-lights from Bellagala because it just made the space completely magical. The indoor-outdoor situation was perfect for people that aren't huge dancers or wanted to get away from the loud music for a bit. Suzanne (our coordinator) was really awesome throughout the entire process.

We had our ceremony outside on the lawn and reception inside at Hyland Hills! We received so many compliments on the venue, with the gorgeous hill, beautiful windows, and just the amount of space the venue has. There is a patio for guests with lights that are strung and a fire pit. The bathrooms are a fantastic size. There’s incredibly easy parking- all things that were important to us when selecting a venue.
Working with Suzanne was fantastic! I was a very DIY bride, and the space and Suzanne really allowed for my vision to come to life.

We got married 7/2018 at Hyland and the venue was absolutely stunning. I couldn't image getting married any other place. It was the perfect combination of an outdoor/indoor wedding that we wanted. Our ceremony was outside on the great lawn. The patio and lawn games were fun for cocktail hour. The picturesque windows looking out on the ski hills were gorgeous during dinner. Hyland staff worked seamlessly with our caterer. Suzanne was so lovely to work with - she was organized, professional, and very accommodating. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this venue.

We had both our wedding ceremony and reception at Hyland Lake Rental Space. We loved it!! we had out ceremony on the outside patio and our reception was inside the chalet. The chalet is right by the ski hill in Bloomington so the area was really unique. They also have a unused railroad track that we took some pictures by. We got such great comments on the place we picked. If you're looking for something a little bit more casual then this is worth looking into for sure! The rental of the venue is free if you use their inside catering. (which was surprisingly very good food!!) The venue can be rented April-September. Martha, who is the point connecting person was also super helpful!
