We met up several times leading up to our wedding and also had him take photos during our engagement party which we thoroughly treasure. On the day of the wedding, Tim was a calming presence for us. It felt like he was a longtime friend which helped put us at ease and he offered really useful advice which we appreciated. He successfully guided the wedding party and our large families, keeping us on track prior to the ceremony and throughout the reception. Tim quickly shared a preview of the photos with us, just days after the wedding. We received our full gallery approximately one month later and we could not be more thrilled with the final product. as searching for photographers, Tim came highly recommended and I loved his work. I was looking for his documentary-style of photography, which I feel really captures the essence of your special day (although we certainly got the required staged family and wedding party photos in there, without them at all being cheesy or forced). Additionally, I was thrilled to learn Tim is very low maintenance when it comes to equipment; meaning he's not going to roll in with tons of lights or tripods that I often feel ruin the ambiance of a wedding. He has such an amazing eye and will guide you where, when, and how to take the best pictures. (The night of, he and our wedding coordinator even made the executive decision to move up the cake cutting because of the incredible sunset!) Given I am extra Type-A and thorough though, I wanted to explore my options. I reached out to him and a few others via email, and spoke to them on the phone. Right away, I loved his demeanor and personality. He was calm (but not dull), confident (but not at all obnoxious), and clearly loves what he does. It's important to remember you will be spending pretty much your entire wedding day with your photographer(s), so clicking personality-wise was super important to me. After meeting with him and another highly recommended photographer, there was no question; we knew we wanted to spend our special day with Tim documenting it. Between our engagement shoot, coordinating the months leading up to, and of course our wedding day, Tim was patient, flexible, friendly, and genuine. Before the wedding, we gave Tim our must-have shot list per his requests, and didn't think twice about whether or not he would handle it. My husband and I truly enjoyed ourself during what can be an awkward and forced few hours, thanks to Tim (and his lovely day-of second shooter, Allison!). There are so many to choose from, and I am really picky about photos of myself. Tim also took beautiful images of so many of our guests, as well as amazing photos from the dance floor! I feel that Tim captured the experience of our wedding. Tim is a great person to spend your wedding day with, and his photography is stunning!

intimate occassion. It’s funny to think about now, because after having Tim at our wedding, we can’t imagine what we would have done without him. Choosing Tim turned out to be easily one of the best decisions we made. We clicked with Tim immediately. He was kind enough to meet with us a couple weeks before—on his suggestion—to get an idea of what we wanted, which helped us get comfortable and develop a rapport. Had he not been our photographer, we probably would have invited Tim as a guest. Never having been married before, my wife and I didn’t know what we didn’t know. Luckily, we had Tim to guide us through. It was like having a good friend by your side who just happens to be an amazing photographer. He knew the venue, he knew the best shots to get, and he knew the best way to get them. He was calm, cool, steady, tactful, prepared, and professional. And somehow, he managed to keep everything feeling totally natural, not only in the compositions but also in the moment. Tim took on every request—including embarrassing parent ones—with a playful grin. He somehow managed to do the seemingly impossible by impressing everyone one of our family members and friends—something we will spend the rest of our lives trying to live up to. We had countless guests tell us how much they enjoyed Tim, to which we excitedly responded, “We know! He’s great, right?!” He was a complete joy to have out our wedding and we feel lucky to have gotten to spend the day with him. We were also pleasantly surprised that we got our pictures back so quickly. He is truly talented at capturing light and composing beautiful and emotional photos. the details to delivery of the photos. We were planning on having the wedding at the courthouse but our plans changed with about 48 hours notice and Tim was so flexible and understanding. He was so helpful in getting all of the shots we wanted, and also taking so many candids to capture the whole feeling of the day. We knew we were in great hands with Tim!

We felt comfortable with his calm and friendly personality right away, and felt relaxed around him during every interaction we had with him. On our wedding day, I felt so happy that I went with Tim because he was open to all requests, but provided the direction our large family needed. He organized our group and moved through family photos quickly and professionally, while still getting a variety of beautiful shots of each group. He has an amazing eye, and picked out spots for photos that my husband and I would never have noticed. Its hard to summarize how much we loved working with Tim, but I will say we cried when we saw our photos because we were so happy! I highly, highly recommend him.

h the results on both occasions. My husband and I loved him so much that my sister ended up hiring him to photograph her wedding a month later and he did an equally if not even more fantastic job. He is both extremely organized and creative. From start to finish working with him was seamless, easy and so much fun. He's not a " typical" wedding photographer which is exactly what we were looking for. He works with you as a couple, gets to know you, puts you at ease behind the camera and takes magically candid, authentic shots. He has a great eye for what will make a good picture from background to lighting to guiding you to looking your best, which results in photographs that are pure artistry. He captures raw emotion so well and the way he told the story of our wedding from start to finish through his photographs was brilliant. rs! Let me start off by saying Tim is so easy to deal with. Your photographer becomes your wedding coordinator on the big day, in a way, so you better feel comfortable with him/her. He is extremely personable and all our guests/relatives/friends enjoyed their interactions with him. He helped organize the day (not to mention he fielded tons of emails/calls from me) and took control of our “easily distracted” families and managed to squeeze in a million amazing photos in limited hours. Now on to the other important info… his pictures! They are amazing. We started off with our engagement photos and Tim was able to take what most would say is a boring background and turn it into the most incredible picture. We walked around the streets of Chelsea and Tribeca and his professional eye spotted tons of creative/unique photo ops! We loved all of them and even used one for our Save the Date. Also we just got his wedding pics…might I add only 3 weeks post the wedding. How many people can say that about their wedding photographers!?! My coworkers were all in awe because they waited 6-12 months. The photos are incredible. He didn’t miss a single big moment and one of the best things he did was capture facial expressions during speeches. The day flies by quicker than any other day in life and Tim was able to recreate it for me with his photos. I would HIGHLY recommend him to everyone.

He took the time to get to know us and our style prior to the wedding, helped us organize what kind of shots we wanted and then day of did exactly what we spoke about. It was amazing- no one felt like they spent the entire day taking pictures- and the pictures were BEAUTIFUL and exactly the style we wanted- candid & natural looking. Tim was an amazing resource throughout our planning process as we were able to ask questions about venue setup, lighting options, and even flower colors to which he was happy to answer and give thoughts from his experience and act as a sounding board for ideas, it was perfect. As we got closer to our big day Tim was available and always made time to answer all of our questions about timeline and scheduling quickly and thoughtfully. When the day came he was on time (actually about an hour early) and was ready to handle all that the day threw at us. He and his partner captured our wedding through a spectacular lens and were able to bring to life our celebration through each frame. The pictures are absolutely stunning. We continue to look at them each day with smiles and tears of joy as it allows us to relive each and every moment again and again. What an amazing man. Throughout the process he was excellent, detail oriented, and best of all a genuinely great person. We cannot put it into words how amazing working with Tim was he made us feel like family and now has allowed us to relive and share our celebration for years to come.

Neither of us has ever been professionally photographed together so it was a bit awkward for us at first, but I wouldn't have done it differently. If Tim wasn't our photographer we would have invited him to our wedding. He is so genuine and creative. When our wedding day finally came, we didn't even notice Tim was taking pictures. There were some other vendors we were a little nervous about, but Tim was almost like an old friend who had our complete trust. We got our wedding pictures 4 weeks and 1 day after our wedding and we couldn't be happier. They are the most beautiful pictures I have ever seen. We expected to have beautiful photos that documented the day and helped us look our best (and they do!) but we were surprised at how artistically stunning some of the photos turned out - interesting photos that do more than tell a wedding story. Second, Tim was a consummate professional, while also being authentic and chill at every stage. He was early to every meeting we had; he was responsive over email and delivered on every timeline; and all of the contracts/systems were super user-friendly. On the day of the wedding, he had us ahead of schedule, though we never felt rushed. His temperament with our family and friends was lovely. There were a lot of us, with folks sometimes wandering, taking their own photos, or directing Tim and he was calm, direct, and humorous. Everyone felt so comfortable with him (and it shows in their expressions). He took every photo we asked, without disrupting the flow of the evening. We have photos from every angle of our ceremony, including an upstairs window, and his style was so unobtrusive we didn't even notice. At the end of the night, when the venue -- and me and my husband! -- forgot about cutting the cake, Tim remembered and coordinated getting the cake, cutters, and reminding my husband to put his jacket on. He is super details oriented, and also charmed our guests. We'd book again in a heartbeat.

He has a real gift for taking pictures that put you right in the action. Plus, the final album covers all facets of the wedding – which is great because it flew by and I would not have remembered it all! We have some lovely scenery pics of the grounds, photos of the decorations and venue, elegant family portraits, goofy candids, and of course tons of brilliant photos of the two of us. My wife and I could really, truly, not have asked for anything better. Another thing that impressed me about Tim was his presence as a participant in the wedding ceremony, because he was as inconspicuous as possible. I have been at a few weddings now where the photographer has ambled down the aisle, snapped some photos, checked a watch, stood with hand on hip waiting for the next ‘segment’ to arrive. It’s those sorts of careless and conspicuous actions that can really ruin the mood, and I appreciate deeply that Tim honored our moment by blending into it. He also made a great call on our ‘first look’ photos. Though my wife and I had ourselves picked a location, one that the venue recommends, after Tim took a lap around the grounds he suggested an alternative – and he was right on the money. We are so grateful to him for really keeping our best interests in mind and working hard to make us happy. Tim was truly a joy to work with throughout the entire process. He was available in the months prior to the wedding to meet and come up with a game plan, as well as get to know us and our preferences, styles, and hopes for the wedding. He was early to the venue, stayed late, and was a consummate professional. We got all our photos a couple weeks after the wedding, ready to download, super-easy and convenient. Having Tim photograph our wedding was fantastic, and we could not more highly recommend him!

o me that it be done right. I scoured online photo galleries and reviews in a search for the "perfect" photographer. I am happy to report that I found him in Tim Ryan Smith! Tim was initially recommended to me by my coordinator at The Garrison. Upon viewing his galleries online, I noticed that he is a versatile photographer and has experience photographing in Brooklyn (where we live and had our engagement photos taken) and the Hudson Valley (where we got married). Upon viewing (and loving) his past work, I called Tim to get his availability. Tim was so easy to talk to, and we ended up chatting for awhile. From the start, Tim was a breeze to work with. He was responsive, organized, and upbeat. I think it is important to get to know your photographer so that you are comfortable and relaxed while being photographed. On our wedding day, it felt like a friend was taking our photos. I think most people feel comfortable around Tim. He is easygoing, nonintrusive, and funny. As a result, Tim was able to capture beautiful "candid" moments throughout our wedding ceremony and reception. Aside from being a great guy, Tim is an incredibly talented photographer. My husband and I both come from pretty large families and have many discrete groups of friends, and Tim kindly indulged our wishes to have many different group photos, in all sorts of combinations and permutations. But he also roamed around and unobtrusively documented many wonderful moments from the wedding, including some that we didn't see ourselves because we were so busy meeting and greeting. Tim is an extremely talented photographer and a delightful person to work with, and we recommend him highly.
