Timber Lake Camp

Choosing to have our wedding at Camp Timber Lake was probably the single most important decision we made during the planning process. The camp setting gave us the opportunity to create something far more immersive, personal, and joyful than we had imagined, and the camp / gatheround staff and everyone involved in the planning process gave us the ability to execute on making all our dreams come true! In the months leading up to the wedding, we worked closely with Will, who was incredibly friendly, responsive, and on top of every detail. He always made time to talk through our many questions and helped accommodate some of our more unconventional requests—from having Camp Timber Lake cater our Sunday reception dinner (which we highly recommend!) to brainstorming the best locations for a nighttime game of kick the can. The camp itself is absolutely beautiful and was perfectly manicured for our arrival. There were endless activities for our guests to enjoy, and the staff placed sports equipment throughout the property so everyone could immediately jump into whatever interested them. Our guests had so much fun exploring the grounds, tossing frisbees and footballs, shooting hoops, and making the camp their own for the weekend. The staff including Reggie, Scott, Liz, Willow, Marcie, and so many others, were AMAZING. They were warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in making the weekend special. Scott and Liz stayed on top of every detail, and the entire team continually went above and beyond to make our guests feel welcome and cared for. When one of our guests lost her phone in the dining hall after hours, the team turned the lights back on and helped her search for it. After she mentioned that she was having trouble turning on the heat in her cabin, they walked over to help, then returned 15 minutes later with brownies and ice cream for her and her cabinmates as a nice surprise. Another favorite moment happened on the dance floor Saturday night. We had brought bubble guns but realized too late that they required batteries we didn’t have. We’d given up on using them, but when Willow (one of the camp staff) overheard a friend say, “I wish we had batteries for these bubble guns.” he went and tracked down batteries from TV remotes around the camp on his own accord and got the bubble guns working. They ended up being a huge hit! Moments like these, and so many others, made us feel completely at home and made our guests feel incredibly well cared for. The food was also outstanding. We received rave reviews about every meal. The team went out of its way to accommodate dietary preferences and restrictions, providing hearty vegan and vegetarian options at every meal. They even prepared a special plate every meal for my mom, who has an autoimmune disorder that prevents her from eating most spices. The team also decorated dishes with edible flowers and made everything look beautiful. For our reception dinner on the final night, they even came up with the idea of displaying leftover Boy Scout patches from one of our weekend activities along the buffet counter. It was the perfect thoughtful touch. We had multiple guests tell us that this was their favorite wedding they had ever attended, and Camp Timber Lake (and the wonderful people who run it) were a huge reason why. Thank you for giving us and our guests such a magical, joyful, and unforgettable weekend. It truly was the best weekend of our lives! Can’t recommend this wedding venue enough!

Okay, full disclosure: I really don’t want to write this review. Not because the place was bad, oh no, it was amazing but because I’m a selfish little gatekeeper who wants to keep it all to myself. Ten years from now, when we try to come back for our anniversary, I just know y’all are going to have booked every single weekend, and I’ll be bitterly scrolling through my own glowing review like, ‘Wow, I really did this to myself.’ Anyway… here’s the glowing review I swore I wouldn’t write. We booked this place sight unseen, just off Will Bush’s amazing customer service and some photos. It turned out even better than we hoped. The cabins were perfect for giving our older family members their own space (private bathrooms = instant win). Pictures don’t do the camp justice, it’s rolling hills, endless greenery, and ridiculously peaceful. Multiple guests told us they hadn’t felt that relaxed in weeks. Our wedding planning style was… let’s call it “creative chaos.” Luckily, Will was a saint. He answered my repeat questions with patience, communicated clearly, and helped us feel prepared. Once we got there, Scott and the crew took over and made sure everything ran smoothly. Any hiccup? Boom—handled over walkie-talkie like some kind of camp superheroes. Food was another highlight. We requested Jamaican BBQ for Friday night, something they’d never done before, and they absolutely nailed it, guests were still raving about it two weeks later. The camp also crushed it with dietary accommodations and even last-minute whims (“no mayo today,” done). Honestly, if we could do it again, we’d let them handle Saturday’s big dinner too. Saturday was all games, and the staff set everything up perfectly—equipment out, water stations everywhere, quick help for scraped knees, golf carts for anyone who needed a lift. Our untraditional ceremony was set up beautifully by the gazebo. Just to note, it wasn’t needed but they even came up with a rain plan.  Overall: exceeded expectations. Incredible service, total flexibility, and yes!!! I got to live my best life on a walkie-talkie for 48 hours. Can’t wait to see camp Timber Lake in 10 years.
