Timber Lodge

We looked at this venue for our wedding but we did not use it. This place is beautiful, with a chapel on the hill, filled with big wooden pews. Perfect for a country wedding. But there were a few things we didn't care for. Due to its beauty it is very secluded. Once you find the road, you travel down a gravel road and through a gate. We were afraid our guest either wouldn't care to try and find the place or if they couldn't find it they would just turn around and go home. Another issue was the fact that this is a vacation spot as well, so people may be driving by on 4 wheelers to use the zip line. The zipline was located past the chapel on the hill. The entire time we were touring the place, there were 4 wheelers driving up and down the hill. Also, there isn't any parking at the chapel so all guest would have to park and the bottom of the hill and then we would have to have provided someone to drive them to the top. It was just hassles like these that made us decide against it. They do have a reception/banquet room located at the bottom of the hill. Nothing fancy, just a room with table and chairs. But it also has an indoor pool attached to it, which vacationing guest can continue to use while we are having our reception. There is one bathroom for this building, which means people using the pool would be using the same bathroom as the wedding guest. All I could think of was some kid dripping all over the floors. The cost was very reasonable, $700 for the chapel and $300 for the reception hall, so we felt $1,000 was a fair price. We liked the place and the price, but it just wasn't what we were looking for in the end. The seclusion of it and the idea of people (we didn't know) being around and possibly disrupting maybe us decide we could do better.
