TJ the DJ

TJ advertised a "fun and easy planning process" with his services, which unfortunately has not been our experience. I cannot comment on the quality of his DJ services as we have had to cancel him as a vendor. Communication wasn't great from the start, but I chose to overlook lack of response to email (text was better). We had an initial zoom call in November 2022 for our September 2023 wedding and it went great. TJ is knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and we had a great time chatting with him, so we sent our deposit for services in December 2022. We did not hear from TJ after that, so in July 2023, I emailed to get started on the details as the wedding approached. I got no response from email and followed up with text. I got no response from text and tried to call. Over a 3 week period, my fiancé and I called multiple times per week, left multiple voicemails, and messaged his Facebook page. At that point, even if we did hear from him I had no remaining trust to leave our wedding in his hands, so we had to start the search for a new DJ with the wedding only 2 months away. Basically, we put down our deposit and then got ghosted. Finally tonight TJ answered the phone and agreed to refund our deposit. He never initiated contact, or acknowledged any of our attempts at contact. I was honestly shocked when he answered the phone and at a loss for words when he asked how I was doing (not great!). I have no doubt that TJ is a great DJ and I'm sure his weddings and events are a blast, but the extremely poor communication is inexcusable and has caused us so much stress in this process. I'm planning from out of state, so maybe a local bride who could do in-person meetings would have better luck working with TJ.
