My husband and my parents met Peggy and Todd at a bridal show and they decided I just had to meet with them. I’m so happy I did I just loved that they knew exactly what they were doing and we didn’t have todo anything. Todd and Peggy were fantastic and professional I would recommend them to anyone. They were with us for 10 hours on our wedding day. They were there from the very beginning of the day into the night and they remained positive and upbeat the whole time. They caught so many great memories of us that we will always cherish.

We met with multiple photographers but there was just something that made us feel at ease after meeting with Todd and Peggy. They are super organized and made our wedding day much less stressful than it could have been. Having both of them there helped capture every moment we wanted. Peggy even assisted with the timing of the bridal party during the ceremony. If you are going to make one investment in your wedding for something that you will have the rest of your life, then I would highly recommend working with Todd and Peggy. The photos they took were just amazing and on top of that, they are great people. You spend your entire wedding day with your photographer. Be sure to hire someone you like and trust. They helped to coordinate the whole day. This is what they do for a living, so they know how long different aspects of the day will take. They helped to develop our timeline prior to the wedding, had scissors on hand when I had an extra string hanging off the hem of my dress, had powder on hand to touch up my makeup when my face started to glisten, and really helped with a lot of extra little details that aren’t really the photographers’ job. I know if we would have needed a button sewn on or a bandaid or a kleenex, they would have those right on hand, too.

The Hugens are AMAZING! It's wonderful when you can get two photographers for the price of one and they work as such an amazing team. My whole bridal party loved them, even the guys who didn't like to get their photos taken. They were fast and efficient allowing time for fun candid photos too. About 1/2 through the reception we went outside to get sunset photos. I was so disappointed because the weather hadn't cooperated all day and it was going to be too cloudy. Wait for it, the storm photos were amazing too! I simply love them as a photography team and love how my wedding photos turned out. From the impromptu non-RSVP guests to the family that didn't want to smile; that was our day and they captured it all. Thank you Todd and Peggy Hugen for being part of our adventure!

The photographers was amazing! They kept the wedding party on track and finished quickly with all the couples requests. They were very involved in the day and caught some amazing candid pictures throughout the entire night. The photographer quality and lighting is better than any other photographer I have experienced. I have ask my friend to have the photographer print a photo for myself. This not usual for me to request. Todd Hugen Photography captured the beautiful day and fit into the day seamlessly. You never even knew they were there, but they catch all the memories!

Todd and Peggy were absolutely wonderful to say the least, we got so much more than what we paid for. They kept the day going and helped with every little thing. Without them, I know the day would have been all over the place & completely unorganized. I can't explain enough how comfortable they made us feel and made our day a complete breeze! We did not have to worry one bit about where someone was supposed to be, if we were on schedule, or if our photos that we wanted were getting done with these guys! Todd and Peggy were awesome to work with. They were very knowledgeable about the Des Moines area and were so fun. They made the day run so smoothly and were on top of everything. I wish I had done this review a long time ago, but I do want to make sure it is seen. Todd and his wife, Peggy, are two of the nicest people my (now) husband and I have had the pleasure to meet. They were very outgoing during our first meeting and made us feel right at home. They are completely professional, good-natured and are prepared for anything and everything on your special day. We were/are completely satisfied with the work that they did for our wedding. The photographs are absolutely beautiful! Also, we never once had to worry about what to do next during photos. It was all very relaxed and Todd made sure that everything kept running smoothly during the whole day. He made it fun, had lots of energy, and it was so relaxing to us to just go about our day while they kept the schedule going. All of our vendors were wonderful on our wedding day, but Todd really made everything just flow throughout the day. I can't even express how wonderful that was. Thank you to Todd and Peggy for working with all of our other wedding vendors so well and making our wedding day an absolute dream come true. We are so grateful!

Although the photos turned out well, there were several things that were less-than-impressive about Todd Hugen Photography. -We requested a close-up of the groom's face at first sight, but did not get one, since we didn't do the "first look" prior to the ceremony. -We did not receive our photos until a year after the wedding, even though our photo books were done months before then. -At our "reveal party," it seemed like they were all about up-selling. -They were slow at returning emails, and never returned calls. -They did minimal touch-ups on our photos unless we purchased through them. -We requested a very short "fun, onsite photos" session (between the wedding and reception), but it took much longer than they said it would, thus we kept our guests waiting. -When the initial few photos were posted on social media, the mother-of-the-bride requested a change in "family" photo (to include only family), but the request was ignored. -We were not allowed to have any photos before Christmas to print cards to send out; the only option given was buying [expensive] Christmas cards through them. -The mother-of-the-bride purchased a Christmas ornament. When she proofed it, she asked if the clarity would be better, as it appeared blurry. THP assured her it would be clear, but it turned out as blurry as the proof.

Todd and Peggy are wonderful to work with! My husband and I are not picture people and they made us feel so comfortable and brought out the smiles. Our pictures look like they could be in a magazine. So thankful we had them to share our special day with us!

As a guest, you don't expect to write a review for a vendor, but I was so impressed with Todd and Peggy that it's a must. They were everywhere without being overbearing or in the way. They kept things moving and were incredibly efficient, especially with family formals. I purchased a canvas as a gift for the happy couple and they love it! Highly recommended.

I really enjoyed working with Todd and Peggy. We had some non photogenic people in our wedding party and they were still able to find some great shots! They were more than just photographers - Peggy was super helpful with my bustle and hair throughout the day too. Fun to work with!

If I could describe Todd Hugen Photography in one work, it would be AMAZING. Todd and Peggy are the most genuine, kind, professional couple I could have ever hoped to work with for engagement photos and wedding photos! I knew from the very beginning of our consultation that I wanted to work with this couple who genuinely cared about my groom-to-be and I. They told us from the start what we could expect, and they shared so many pieces of advice with us to ensure our day went smoothly. Peggy worked with me to answer all of my questions, and kept me in the loop when she found out she was expecting her second child (he was born 2 days after our wedding). Although Peggy was unable to be with us on our wedding day, Todd and his crew made sure that everything went perfectly. The photos they took tell the beautiful story of our wedding day, and they will last a lifetime! The prices are very reasonable, and they do a wonderful job of mixing traditional poses with modern, fun ones! The Hugens are amazing. Not only are they incredibly talented, but they are so kind and funny. They think of things that I never would have thought of to make everything run smoothly. Todd and Peggy were INCREDIBLE! Everyone kept commenting on how professional they were and how they worked very well as a team. Peggy is there to take pictures of the girls beforehand and keep everything running on time and Todd is there to take pictures of the boys beforehand and then get all of the amazing shots after the wedding. I had a lot of little children in the family and Peggy had candy that she would give to them after they smiled or did a good job taking a picture. The kids loved it and all of the pictures turned out wonderful! They took a lot of pictures and there were none of them that I didn't like. The prices for the photos after were very reasonable and all of the prints we ordered, we are beyond pleased with. I am so grateful I ran across Todd Hugen Photography at a bridal show. I loved how Peggy was so friendly and thought she would be fun to work with. I scheduled a meeting with them and my groom-to-be and the rest is history. They were outstanding to work with and they were a big help in the planning/agenda of my wedding day. I honestly don't know what I would have done without them! They do think of everything! Lastly, the pictures are amazing! I really like how they worked in traditional poses but also modern/fun ones. We were very happy with Todd Hugen Photography. We were planning our Iowa wedding from California and didn't meet Todd and Peggy until the day of our wedding. They were professional and Peggy was a lifesaver, she is prepared for all kinds of things that may go wrong on the wedding day! Even created extra boutineers! The photos are beautiful and the lighting was fantastic, it was also one of those humid/muggy/rainy July days in Iowa but you couldn't tell by the photos. They also were efficient in getting all of the photos done after the ceremony so we could get to the reception. Peggy and Todd stayed the extra few minutes to capture some amazing sunset photos of my husband and I. We were extremely happy with how everything turned out, PLUS we even did our consult and reveal through Skype!!! We received all of our pictures in a timely fashion and when we had a problem with the binding of the bridal album they sent us a new one with in a week. Excellent customer service. We would highly recommend them for your wedding! You won't be disappointed!!

Todd and Peggy are great. We just had engagement pictures taken a few weeks ago and they had it all planned out perfectly before we even started. They were very organized and got a ton of pictures into a short amount of time. I hired them after seeing them at another wedding. They went above and beyond making sure the day went smoothly and did way more than just take pictures. Peggy comes prepared with anything you may need if something goes wrong. All the pictures turned out wonderfully.

I don’t even know where to begin. Todd and Peggy were an absolutely fantastic duo when it came to photographing our wedding. Never once did I have to worry about anything because they came prepared for everything and kept the ball rolling the entire night. From the very beginning, they were way ahead of the game. I liked that from the beginning they told us exactly what to expect, shared words of wisdom, and reassured us that everything would go smoothly. One of the biggest reasons I chose to go with Todd and Peggy was because they made me feel so comfortable from the get go. From the very first meeting I was told of all the different precautions they take to ensure nothing happens to my wedding photos. I knew from that first meeting that these were photographers who wouldn’t let the slightest hiccup stand in their way and they would do everything in their power to make my day special and memorable. Todd and Peggy were great to work with and the day of my wedding couldn’t have gone any smoother. Every time I turned around Peggy was there to see what I needed. She did everything from fixing a bridesmaid's necklace to sewing on a bow to our flower girl's ballet slipper. They truly went above and beyond. Not only were they well prepared, but they were so personable. They were great with both the adults and children. Afterwards, I had numerous compliments on how quick and efficient our photographers were. Todd was full of humor and didn’t mess around when it came to getting the perfect shot. My father-in-law absolutely hates getting pictures taken and afterwards he said he didn’t even mind getting pictures done that day because our photographers didn’t take 5 minutes on every shot. In my opinion, this was the reason that we didn’t end up with many photographs with those fake smiles that look like they have been posing for hours. Furthermore, the wedding party absolutely loved working with Todd and Peggy and had fun taking some crazy shots after the ceremony. Most importantly, Todd and Peggy were full of great ideas and in turn we ended up with some truly unique shots. In the end, we had more than enough pictures to choose from and the quality was fantastic. In fact, there were soooo many it made it hard to choose which ones we actually wanted to print off, frame or put on a canvas. They truly did an awesome job of telling a story about our wedding day through pictures and every time I look at them I can relive those moments. Even now, they are still working diligently with us to perfect the various products we chose to purchase to capture our favorite shots. All in all, I couldn’t have asked for a better set of photographers to share my special day with. I would recommend these guys to anyone, in fact, I already have to numerous newly engaged couples. My daughter was married in August 2014. I have always been a fan of photography to remember a special occasion. I was looking for someone to photograph her wedding that would be traditional with a flair for fun. I knew my daughter would want the photos to look natural. Todd and Peggy provided all of the above. I felt like they really cared about my daughter, her new husband and our family as a whole. They listened when I had suggestions and used props that I provided with a smile. They also photographed the breakfast with the bride and took some great shots. It's amazing to have both of them shooting, as then you get those special shots from two angles. One of my favorite photos is the back of my husband and daughter going down a staircase as he was about to give her away. Without two people shooting, we would not have gotten this breathtaking shot! I would most definitely recommend Todd and Peggy. They are professional yet warm, efficient and i felt their prices were reasonable. I will use them again for future weddings, family portraits etc. Love them!

My mother found Todd & Peggy through our venue event coordinator and also met them at a bridal show. We evaluated two or three photographers and chose Todd & Peggy based on image style and value for what was included in the contract. (For example, we had already done an engagement session, which was included in the contract, so we asked for a second parent album instead and that was no problem.) We also found the husband/wife team very appealing -- both shoot images and an intern shot as well, so we were extremely well covered. I gravitate toward images that are traditional with some artistic/creative flair to keep things interesting -- I wanted the classic wedding party and bride/groom photos with fun, not super-staged posing. I did not want heavily airbrushed photos or offbeat/esoteric/"out there" composition. Todd and Peggy captured beautiful, genuine, timeless, and fun images that really embodied the joy and excitement of the day. We look like the best, happiest versions of ourselves and that is exactly what I wanted. Todd and Peggy as a couple are some of the most lovely people you will ever meet. They are kind and really care about their wedding couples. I don't live in Des Moines anymore, so my mom did a lot of the local planning, but Todd and Peggy found time to meet with me when I was in town for a weekend to get acquainted a few months before the big day. They are also extraordinarily professional -- they come on time, smiling and with boundless energy, and they are so prepared (amazing vests with dozens of pockets stocked with every wedding day survival item a bride could ask for!). They really do so much more than just take photos -- they herded the wedding party/bride & groom's families all day, managed the timeline of events, and got people where they needed to be when they needed to be there. They somehow capture all the little (and big!) moments but they are never "in the way." The images are amazing and I couldn't be happier with our choice. I cannot wait to receive the bridal album to ooh and ahh over everything! Related: the albums are totally customizable with custom backgrounds created from our own scenic/floral images from the wedding day, and they are such amazing quality -- don't fool yourself with that cheap crap on Shutterfly. They also offer a really comprehensive suite of printed photo products for purchase a la carte (Christmas ornaments, keepsake boxes, framed prints/wall art, etc.) and there was no pressure to buy anything, even though we did. When it's all said and done, Todd & Peggy 1) took amazing images and 2) helped the day progress smoothly. What more can you ask for? Thanks for everything -- this bride couldn't be happier!

I cannot say enough good things about this photographer duo! The positives: 2 people allows for much better organization of the bridal party, much more attention to detail, and a much better chance you will get all the shots/angles you want from the day. In planning sessions T&P made the claim that they are more than just photographers for the day, they are coordinators. And they 100% stood up to that statement. From detail planning out the schedule of our big day, to keeping the bridal party on track and on time, to wearing vests FULL of all the essentials we could possibly need! (i.e. mints, safety pins, bobby pins, tissues, ibuprofen: which was immediately supplied when I began complaining about my poor shoe choice. ha! ...etc). AWESOME. Plus Peggy even stepped in and kept my ceremony on track, reminding the moms to light the unity candles when they had forgotten. Whoops! T&P are always on top of it! These two are so easy to get along with which makes it incredibly more comfortable throughout the day. And to top it off I was very impressed with their overall cost considering some of the other photographers we had looked into. No questions asked, I would definitely use them again if I had to do it all over...and that's really saying something!

I have nothing but positive remarks to make concerning Todd Hugen Photography! Both Todd and Peggy were easy to work with, and the finished photographs were beautiful. As a first time MOB, Todd and Peggy had several great suggestions that helped us prepare for the schedule of the wedding day. I was so happy with our decision to use Todd and Peggy as our photographers on our wedding day! Our wedding was actually in Minnesota, so Todd and Peggy drove up the night before to check out our venue and familiarize themselves with the best places to take photos around the golf course. On the wedding day, they arrived early when the girls were getting ready, and stayed late until the most important dances of the evening were over! Peggy is more than just a photographer...she is prepared for anything that may go wrong on your big day! She helped my mom latch the intricate buttons all the way up the back of my dress, she did my bustle (a couple times), she calmed my nerves when I was freaking out with my dad right before walking down the aisle, and she helped coordinate the chaos before our ceremony when our bridal party wasn't sure where they were supposed to go! And that's just a handful of the things she did that went above and beyond her role as a photographer. Todd was excellent at organizing our large family shots and getting everyone in a position where their faces could be seen, a very difficult thing to do when I have an extended family of 30+ people! Todd uses 2 cameras with each photo he takes, and it seemed to me he snapped at least 3 photos of each pose to ensure he gets at least one good one of everyone. Todd and Peggy really work well together as a husband/wife photography team and I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a wedding photographer. We just got our photos back last week and I cannot stop looking at them! They really captured the magic and beauty of that day and I am able to relive the memories forever now thanks to their amazing work. Thanks Todd and Peggy!

09/15/2014 Todd and Peggy are truly amazing. Peggy literally sewed my bridesmaid dress on her just minutes before my ceremony when it ripped at the seam. Todd made everyone smile at the perfect time. They also did extra 'chores' for me- like hanging up my bridesmaid gifts when the wedding planner wasn't around. They went above and beyond everyone's expectations. We had guests commenting how amazing the photography team was. Thank you so much!!!!! We can't WAIT to see our pictures. I know they will be perfect! If I had to make a criticism- it does take a long time to get your pictures. Like 3-4 weeks when they are busy. I wish we could get a sneak peak or one good shot, but overall totally fantastic.

We used Todd Hugen Photography for our engagement and wedding photos and they were great to work with. They had creative and original ideas for photos and backgrounds. Todd and Peggy were the most incredible photographers! Our engagement photo session ran over by about an hour and a half, and they were so accommodating and patient. And they saved our wedding day countless times! They work great as a team, and somehow managed to pull off things our other vendors didn't--for example our caterer refused to set out a bowl full of salad for my vegan parents, and Peggy ran into the back and found some random bowls and tongs to put it together herself. They're amazing at coming up with photos that WE would love and wrangling two hectic families into photo line-ups. They even came early on our wedding day and took some extra photos without charging us. They're so knowledgeable about every aspect of wedding planning, and were really able to help us with things we never would have thought of. We would highly recommend them to anyone and everyone!

Todd Hugen Photography provided such a wonderful & professional service for our daughters wedding that it needs three WOW's. The service, before, during and after the wedding was out of this world. My husband and I chose to go with Todd Hugen Photography for our wedding and glad we did! They were fun and great to work with, very organized, and definitely helped greatly to make our day run smoothly. They were also willing to travel to our farm for our engagement session and also for pictures after our wedding. All our pictures turned out great. They held a little release party for us and our parents when we got back from our honeymoon, it was amazing and such a great way to see some of the images that they had captured. One of my friends recommended them and I am so happy she did!!
