If we had to describe Tom in one word it would be phenomenal. Tom is an exceptional photographer who has a remarkable ability to capture some of the most magical moments in our lives. He goes above and beyond the role of a wedding photographer, providing unwavering support from the beginning to the end of the process. Not only did Tom shoot our wedding, but he also captured our engagement photos and even my sister's wedding ( almost 6 years ago)! To be honest, just thinking about the way Tom and Heather captured our wedding brings tears to our eyes. It may sound cheesy, but the experience with Tom was truly life-changing. From the moment we met him, he brought a sense of calm and comfort that made us feel at ease. He took the time to understand our vision and made sure to capture every detail that was important to us. During the wedding day, Tom's precision and talent were out of this world. He knew exactly how to let us stay in the moment, soaking up every ounce of our love. He also knew how to position us when necessary and use lighting to create the most breathtaking images. He has an incredible eye for capturing emotions and candid moments that truly tell the story of the day. We were ready to give Tom a 5 star review even before we received the photos! The incredible photos that perfectly captured the moment were the cherry on top. It absolutely poured at our wedding and Tom was integral in making us feel at ease and natural in front of a camera (we don't ever get photos taken). The photos took our breath away. Our friends said they were the best wedding photos they'd ever seen. They really showed how much fun we had and how in love we are. Tom was the best vendor we booked for our wedding and we would recommend him to everyone.

Tom was such a pleasure to work with. He is extremely talented, kind and was able to exceed all our expectation as our wedding photographer. From the moment we first met for our engagement photos we knew we made the right choice by hiring him. He gives great direction but is never pushy and made us feel extremely comfortable (even though my husband and I are not normally comfortable in front of the camera). Tom goes above and beyond and was always available to talk and put all our concerns at ease. He made sure we had the perfect photography list and schedule for our wedding day. After receiving our wedding photos we were in awe. They were everything we could have asked for and more. One of the best decisions I made on my wedding day (aside from marrying my husband, of course) was getting to work with Tom Schelling Photography. I remember searching for wedding photographers online and feeling exhausted as they all seemed to blend together. When I saw Tom's websites, I immediately perked up – I loved how his photos truly captured who these couples were, whether in small intimate moments or pictures which captured their sense of humor. I was so excited when Tom said he was available to shoot our wedding! Not only is Tom Schelling an incredible photographer, but he has a truly calming energy. In the lead-up to our wedding, we had numerous conversations where he helped with everything from advice on how to find small moments amidst the hecticness, to helping us plan a schedule for the day itself, to working alongside our other vendors to make sure we had enough time for all photos before the wedding started without ever feeling rushed. Tom was always available to answer all of my last-minute questions, and it truly was a joy to have those initial planning meetings with him. On the day of our wedding, Tom and his incredible wife Heather arrived early, and from the beginning thought of so many photo ideas beyond what we had planned before. Tom and Heather have such a beautiful eye for detail. I LOVE our photos. They made our family and friends truly relaxed, cracked jokes, and added to the overall happiness of the day. Our pictures truly capture our wedding and our family and our friends in moments big and small throughout the day. Tom would snatch us away throughout the night to sneak off and take photos which took full advantage of the environment. One photo comes to mind: my husband and I on the rooftop of our venue in downtown New York with the pink sun setting behind us. That shot– and a hundred more which felt off-the-cuff– were planned beforehand. I feel so fortunate because those ended up being some of my favorite of the night. I would encourage you 100% to work with Tom Schelling Photography. We are so glad that we did!

I don’t know where to start with him. Having a wedding while also being in the events industry for work made choosing Tom as our photographer an easy yes. It was easily the best decision we made for vendors. He is someone I will confidently send our clients to for the rest of time. I first searched through every bridal group looking for a photographer that “made photos look like they were the day on pause, as if they could move in an instance” that meant clear, clean, and real to me! I didn’t want over edits even though I do love everyone’s unique stylistic choices. As far as his craft goes, he does just that! Everything felt so organic and real with him. The photos capture all the happy, And all the special that the day brought. We had been married over a year already on our wedding day, so we feared that it wouldn’t feel as special. But Tom helped us to ease that fear! Honestly, I’m in awe of him. He made everything so special. From the very first meeting, everything he did was intentional and thoughtful. He surprised us, romanticized our wedding and wedding planning experience. He fit seamlessly in the day with us, which was so important to us from the very beginning. I don’t want to ruin all the little surprises that he tucks into your experience with him, but just know that you can absolutely trust him. He will enhance that day and your experience. He is an expert and is 100% worth every dollar spent to have him there. He will feel like a friend attending, while also bringing his expertise with him. My husband and I don’t love being in front of the camera, but we never felt like we were with Tom. The pictures made us both laugh hysterically and cry hysterically. Okay now the sad part… our doggy was at our wedding, but she was sick with congestive heart failure. She had the best day, and it actually was her last really good day. Tom captured her in her prime. By the time the pictures arrived, we had lost her. She was our best pal. The pictures Tom took are our favorite. They healed our broken hearts a little bit. Just trust him. He was the BEST pick.

Tom is excellent! He was our wedding day photographer and went above and beyond to ensure that the day was captured beautifully. He took the time to meet with us over Zoom multiple times to go over our vision, his approach to capturing the day, and the day-of timeline. Each time we met with Tom, we felt like he understood what was important to us and we were excited to have an experienced photographer on our team. Tom genuinely wants to capture the love and energy between you as a couple and ensured that the flow of our wedding day aligned with this mission so that we wouldn’t feel burnt out with forced smiles, taking photos all day. He made taking photos fun! My husband and I were even able to spend time enjoying the sunset and running through the fields at our venue, while Tom captured this pure emotion and joy without us even realizing it. The photos came out BEAUTIFULLY. I feel so fortunate to have found Tom to capture such stunning photos that will last us a lifetime. We struggled to choose a select number of photos for our album because there were so many that we loved. If you are considering hiring Tom for your wedding, please do not hesitate to reach out to him! It will be one of the best decisions you make on your wedding day.

We have no shortage of amazing things to say about Tom. From the moment we saw his photos online and on Instagram, he immediately stood out to us. You can feel the emotion and passion in his photos. When we reached for more information after coming across his work, he asked to schedule time to get to know us. We did, and Tom spent an entire hour with us on Zoom (without any commitment to hire him) and invited us to ask him questions and he asked some of us too – how we met, what we loved about each other, what will be most important to us on our wedding day. Tom also stressed that he wanted to make sure that we liked each other’s vibes because we would be spending A LOT of time together on the day of our wedding. For anyone booking a photographer for their wedding, you do spend a lot of time with your photographer, so – Tom was right – it is SO crucial that you like your photographer, and they like you. I can tell you that we didn’t just like Tom… we loved him! By the end of the journey leading up to our wedding, he and Heather felt like old friends. Now for two people who (1) have never had professional photos taken of them, (2) didn’t want to do hours and hours of ‘posing’ and (3) wanted to maximize time with each other and friends and family – I promise you that Tom and Heather make that all possible. They are a calming presence, yet also so quick and efficient. They give helpful direction, but don’t make you feel awkward. They are your biggest cheerleaders and supporters – making you feel beautiful/handsome and most importantly comfortable! After a short session of more traditional portraits (at our request) and family and friend photos, Tom and Heather worked their magic – they allowed us to enjoy every moment of our wedding day and captured the most amazing photos and video (more often than not without us noticing). Tom thought of everything! He was so prepared, despite never stepping foot at our venue, and captured the day perfectly. From the lead-up, to the day of, and then all the way past the wedding (delivering the most amazing photos and beautiful wedding album) Tom was there for us. It was amazing getting to know Tom in the lead-up during our phone and Zoom calls as well as during our engagement session (which was really helpful) – even if you don’t think of yourselves as ‘engagement photos’ people, you NEED to do it! The photos came out great, and it was a really cool opportunity for us to get comfortable in front of a professional camera and with Tom. Engagement sessions also help develop that trust – if you’re unsure or insecure about something, you learn that Tom 1000% has your back. It allowed us to just have fun the day of our wedding and not stress about how we look or how the photos will come out. It also really helped the day of our wedding feel fun and light, and it was really cool to see Tom and Heather in their element – they got along so well with us, with our wedding party and our family – and the pictures came out SO beautiful! If you’re looking for someone to trust with timeless memories, choose Tom. I promise you won’t regret it. He and Heather will make you feel like the best versions of yourselves – and you will look and feel amazing through it all!

Can't say enough good things about our experience with Tom and our beautiful wedding photos! Not only do our photos capture the day but Tom is a true artist, and his photos are unique, airy, and exactly what we were looking for. Beyond being an incredible artist and photographer, he genuinely cares about each couple he works with. My husband and I are very uncomfortable in front of the camera so finding a photographer was hard for us. From the initial phone call on, Tom put us at ease. He understood what we were looking for and did an incredible job capturing our wedding day. He was also able to seamlessly fit into our day and navigate family members, etc. After the wedding we also worked with Tom to create a wedding album and his eye for laying this out and easy to work with nature persisted. We read through some of the other reviews here and nothing has been exaggerated. Tom really is that good! If you are lucky enough that he is available on your wedding date, book him. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. It was a joy working with Tom. When we were initially looking for a photographer, it was overwhelming because essentially we were about to give some stranger a lot of money and put a ton of trust in them. Tom straight up neutralized our anxiety in that regard. Right away we were struck by his approachability and the fact that he put ZERO pressure on us. From our very first video chat, he was remarkably patient, supportive and empathetic, and he remained that way through the day of our wedding. And on that day in particular, we didn’t anticipate needing a person like that but man are we glad we had Tom to help level our heads from all the craziness. His calm and reassuring attitude was an oasis. It was such a relief to be able to have complete trust in him that day. If you’re considering Tom to be your photographer, know that in addition to all of the above, his communication with us and his responsiveness to our questions/concerns was exceptional. We were happily surprised by the amount of times he was the one who took initiative and reached out to us. Throughout every stage of the process, his guidance and organizational skills kept us sane. There were so many small details we didn’t even consider and we’re thankful he did. He’s one of the most meticulous and thorough people we’ve ever met, but in such a natural, easygoing and comforting way. Oh and we didn’t even talk about the jaw-droppingly beautiful and organic photos he creates. But Tom’s work speaks for itself. It’s what prompted us to reach out to him in the first place. We will forever be in awe of our wedding album. It’s too difficult to put into words how happy we are with it.

From the moment we met Tom and Heather we felt a sense of calm and complete trust that they would be able to capture exactly what we wanted. Tom's skill and efficiency mixed with his fun and light-hearted personality made us forget how nervous we were at our initial engagement shoot. He is truly professional and extremely knowledgeable about both photography and weddings! He provided suggestions for the day-of itinerary on how to maximize the flow of photos (there are a lot!) and makes sure breaks are built in for the bridge and groom so they can also relax and enjoy their moment. He works hard to incorporate the natural beauty of the venue and to maximize natural light. He even had an app on his phone so he knew what direction the sun would be facing every hour to maximize our sunset photos after the ceremony. He was incredibly responsive, organized, & supportive throughout the whole planning process and his turnaround time on receiving the final photographs was incredible (4-5 weeks, with teasers available within 1-3 days after the wedding). Tom and Heather truly exceeded our expectations, and we are so grateful for being part of our wedding. By the end of the night they both felt like friends we had known for years and we were sad to say goodbye!

Tom and Heather made my wedding day! My biggest challenge when looking for a wedding photographer was finding someone that truly understood the photos I was looking for and someone that I trusted to capture my day. As soon as I spoke with Tom I knew he was the one and trusted him completely. From the very beginning, Tom was so calming and supportive. He had a special touch that other photographers that I talked to did not. He sent a package with his favorite movie, prints from our engagement shoot, popcorn and so many other personalized goodies. We could not have asked for a better experience with the booking, planning and day of our wedding! It was honestly perfect and we are sad to see it end as we really got to know Tom & Heather throughout the process and love their approach and most importantly their company! After we reached out to Tom, we received a voice memo, and from just hearing the message we knew he was going to be our photographer. We are BEYOND grateful that we were able to book Tom to capture our long awaited wedding celebration!! Tom was recommended to us through our original wedding photographer (we had to postpone our wedding 2x because of covid which meant finding new vendors who had our new date available). I knew that we could trust anyone our original photographer recommended but Tom truly exceeded our expectations from the moment we met him. Words can't fully describe how grateful we are to have had Tom photograph our wedding. Tom is the absolute best - he made everything seamless for us. I interviewed tons of different photographers and none of them made me feel comfortable like Tom did. He wanted to know us, how we met, know our story. He genuinely cared. For us that was so important, after all you are with them all day! He really took the absolute best photos and the turn around time was insanely quick so we could relive the evening! Hire Tom and Heather and you will not regret it!!!!!!!!!

I reached out to Tom as a former bridesmaid and guest of other weddings he's photographed, so I've seen him at work and already knew how much my friends raved about him. It was pure luck that he was available after we changed our wedding day - we moved it up a year and weren't sure if our top vendors would still be available. Thankfully, Tom's schedule was open and from start to finish he was incredible. Our wedding was moved because my dad got sick and we changed our plans to make sure he was with us - every question I had in regards to how my dad would be photographed (being in chemo and not wanting him to appear too sickly in photos), and adjusting to the whole tone/mood of the day given our family's situation, Tom graciously answered and accommodated for us. His presence throughout the day was calm, collective, helpful, and encouraging. He was able to go with the flow given our group was a little nuts, and I never worried if he was missing something. The results - ARE UNREAL. I think I look at my wedding photos every day. He captured me and my husband so perfectly. The pictures on the beach of just me and my husband are absolutely amazing. I can't get over how easy it was to just be ourselves and trust that the photographer would get us and translate that in the photos so amazingly. I'm truly blown away by the pictures. This is what you get to keep, and pass down for generations, and it's something you want done right. So hire Tom - he gets to know you and your future spouse, he's so understanding, so skilled and creative, and just a great person to have with you all day!

TL;DR – He's your wedding photographer. No one puts in the amount of effort and care he does for you as a couple. The end product (physical wedding album) is perfect. Our biggest hurdle in looking for a wedding photographer was finding someone who we could trust to get the photos we wanted. We were looking for someone passionate and confident in their wedding photography skills. It’s important that we didn’t have to think about the photography at all and just let it happen, obviously because of everything else on our minds leading up to and the day of the wedding. It made us think hard about who to choose as our wedding photographer. During the initially planning of what we wanted, we decided photography was the most important. We wanted to be able to remember the wedding day for years to come. We would say that in order of importance (to us) of vendors, photography was above flowers, venue, officiant, food, etc. We truly had to find someone right for the role. Tom Schelling was able to ease our minds in regards to finding the right person. The amount of time and effort he puts into his work and the couples he works with is beyond what you would expect. Honestly, in the best way possible, throughout the entire wedding planning process it felt like Tom was a part of the wedding. We felt like Tom knew us well enough that he became an extension of ourselves on the day of the wedding, in which I mean that if the bride and groom were able to photograph themselves exactly how they wanted during their wedding, that’s Tom. He’s amazingly invisible when he’s doing his work, and he instructed us with the amount of confidence I expect from someone with decades in the profession. If you’re on the fence about Tom Schelling and another photographer, I think it’s important to know that Tom cares about his couples. He does not template-match or do the same work between couples. I don’t understand how he does what he does, but his work and dedication to photographing one of the most important days of our lives is unsurpassable. One of the most important specific things Tom did, that I don’t think other photographers do, is that he chose the best photos for our physical album after the wedding. Of course we went over them with him twice to be sure they’re what we wanted, I couldn’t be more thankful that he did the initial work. I know another couple that’s still looking through photos from their wedding in October (it’s February), and their just dreading the process. Thank you so much Tom!

Just do it….don’t even hesitate, just book Tom as your wedding photographer right now. Tom was the wedding photographer in my cousin’s wedding and I didn’t even look for any other options when it was time for my wedding because you can’t top perfection. Tom is exceptionally organized, but real- he understands how crazy of a time wedding planning is, and he is with you along the way (his organization helped me stay organized)! Having Tom and Heather there on our wedding day was like hanging out with old friends….but old friends who could miraculously get a 2 year old to smile in a large family photo. Beyond being comfortable and kind, the photos and album are beyond stunning- every single guest (from multiple countries) made some sort of comment about how great our photographer was and how incredible the pictures turned out! We hired Tom because he’s an artist. It shows in every frame he captures. There are a lot of choices for a wedding photographer, especially in the NYC area, but if you want someone who brings artistry and still can wrangle all your family members for a photo, Tom is your guy. Tom just puts everyone in his orbit at ease. If you’re on the fence about choosing Tom, don’t be. He checks every box. We were a Covid wedding, and had to move our date twice throughout 2020 and 2021. Each time Tom was totally understanding and made sure he was available to us. He stayed in touch throughout all the waiting at a regular cadence and made sure we had everything planned out well in advance when it came time to get down to details. In addition to being completely on top of it, Tom adds a personal touch every step of the way. Whether it’s a thoughtful gift or a quick video to connect with details Tom brings his authentic self. When it finally came time to have the wedding, we can’t say enough about how professional Tom was. He captured everything from details, to our first look, the ceremony, and of course those amazing reception candids that really capture the atmosphere. Tom has a deft ability to switch between formal photography to almost a journalistic quality for candids. He is charming, a fantastic photographer, and we can’t recommend him enough. Tom is the best.

Tom was the best decision we made for our wedding day! Not only are his pictures absolutely amazing, and his customer service unmatched, he truly became a friend throughout an incredibly stressful process. Tom is there with you every step of the way, from helping you pick other vendors to giving you advice to how to stand or look for each picture, there is nothing the man can’t do! He is available for any question you want to ask, even if it has nothing to do with your photography! We had to move our wedding multiple times and each time Tom was the first person we went to and he was immediately there to FaceTime with us or give us a video message to help us through whatever we needed. Tom has a way of putting a personal touch on everything he does that truly makes you feel unique and special. As I said earlier it never felt like we were working with a photographer but rather a friend we had known for years. Finally, his pictures are the best! He gets to know you before the event and learns who you are and what you like. Hiring anyone besides Tom for your next event is a mistake!

We honestly could not have picked a more perfect person to photograph our wedding! When looking for a photographer we wanted someone who would be able to capture us without looking staged or forced. Tom made that happen! From the “lifestyle shoot” pictures to the day of the wedding he made us feel comfortable and at ease the entire time. We are so grateful that we found Tom Schelling to capture our vineyard wedding! From our first meeting to his last shot he was a true professional, warm and sometimes funny. When we were looking for a photographer we wanted someone who shoots with a light and airy style. We spent so much time sifting through photographers until we found Tom. I have booked Tom for my engagement party, my engagement photo session, and now finally my wedding and I am so incredibly happy with everything about him and his work from start to finish! When I was looking for a wedding photographer, I was still in graduate school and so it was so important to me that all the wedding vendors were super responsive by email/phone because I only had a small amount of time each day that I could dedicate to wedding planning. Tom was so professional in every single encounter and answered my emails quickly and answered every single question I had in detail. When we had an appointment at 7 PM, he called me at 7 PM on the dot! It was so refreshing and this made the whole process so much easier. He is so detail oriented and walked us through each step of the way in the weeks leading up to our wedding. On the day of the wedding, he was on time and got every single group shot, picture of my dog, or silly shot that I wanted. My brother used to work with Tom at Apple and so he recommended Tom to me and I only have wonderful things to say about Tom. I would HIGHLY recommend him to anyone who is getting married. We hired Tom to be the videographer for our wedding. Start to finish he was exceptional. The definition of professionalism, he made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera. He is kind, genuine, efficient, and a master at what he does. Our wedding video trailer exceeded our expectations, as did Tom! Tom was absolutely amazing. From our first conversation to the last shot he made me feel comfortable and confident. He explains everything your doing and why he does it. You truly get to understand his process. The morning of the wedding it was raining and I was scared to ruin my massive dress so at the last minute I wanted to change the location of the shoot. Working with Tom was the best decision we made while wedding planning. As someone who feels incredibly awkward when having their picture taken, I was dreading wedding photos and finding a photographer and just hoped I wouldn’t look too uncomfortable. He really went out of his way to get to know us, he remembered our birthdays, he even sent a date night gift package to us after we first booked him. Tom is just amazing. As a human, a a photographer, as an artist. Just generally all around amazing. Less than 2 months before our wedding, our original photographer called me and told me she was unfortunately no longer able to photograph our wedding, as planned. In a panic, I contacted my wedding coordinator and explained what had happened. He told us not to worry, and he recommended a few photographers to us. From our first conversation with Tom until now, even after our wedding, Tom has been beyond amazing! Tom has always been so quick to respond to emails and answer all questions. My wife and I used Tom for our wedding photography and I have to say he was an absolute pleasure to work with. His skill and efficiency went above & beyond and for that we are truly grateful. Tom was incredible from start to finish. As soon as we hired him he was constantly in touch with us, kept us up to date and that didn't stop the day of. Tom didn't have much time to prepare to shoot our wedding because we planned it in six days, we contacted him four days before and fortunately he was available, we didn't discuss the details until the day before, he had very little time if not hours to prepare, in spite of it, he did an amazing job, we haven't seen all of our pictures yet but what we saw excedded our expectations. The day of our wedding it was raining and we were concerned that our pictures wouldn't be as good, however Tom used it in our favor. We are very happy with his work and his personality.
