We had the joy of working with Tonhya for our engagement photos, private ceremony, and reception. The photos were beyond perfection and Tonhya was the absolute best to work with! W...
e’re not the most comfortable in front of a camera and Tonhya helped put us (and our entire families) at ease for some incredible memorable moments. She perfectly captured the energy and all of the details big and small. We couldn’t recommend Tonhya more!
Working with Tonhya as our engagement and wedding photographer was fantastic! Her positive disposition and friendly demeanor kept everyone in front of the camera relaxed and in the...
moment for our entire wedding weekend. We had a great time at our engagement photo session, and love the photos that came out of it! We can’t wait to see the photos from our wedding, and are so thankful to Tonhya for being beyond professional and personable, and for excellently capturing such real magic on the best day of our lives.
We found Tonhya through Samm Blake, and could not be happier that we did! From grabbing drinks together to see if we'd be a good fit, it was immediately clear that Tonhya was a per...
son we could spend our wedding day with. She has a unique mix of a calm presence & spunky character. During our engagement photos, we really felt we got to know her and she even was willing to put up with our crazy puppy! She was totally game for whatever we suggested, then and during the wedding. When we first saw the previews of our engagement photos, we were impressed by how great she made us look, which was only possible because of how great she made us feel.
I was a super anxious bride, and as soon as she arrived while we were getting ready, she helped me feel more at ease, both as someone keeping us on track, and as someone who knew how to put me at ease - maybe that's just her nature. Now that we have our wedding previews, we are completely obsessed with them! The images are stunning, and the moments are perfect. Her editing style is not so pronounced that the images will look dated in the future, but stylized enough to be artistic. We also really loved the second shooter that she brought to our wedding, Karen Obrist. Given the chance to work with either of them again in the future, I'd absolutely do it and highly recommend them both!
We’re so lucky to have found Tonhya. She is a truly artistic photographer as well as a total pleasure to work with. I HATE having my photo taken, and she put me right at ease. She ...
captures the most amazing shots and makes it seem totally effortless. I really fell in love with her broad range — she can do images that are both candid and natural as well as more editorial and stylized. We did engagement shots with her too (which I highly recommend) and am SO thrilled to finally have a bunch of photos of me that I love. She. Was a bit pricier than some other photographers but TOTALLY worth it.
Oh my gosh, Tonhya is pure magic and an absolute joy to work with! I cannot imagine having worked with any other photographer for our big day. We found Tonhya through a colleague ...
who had also booked her for his wedding, and although she was north of our original budget, she was worth every penny! Tonhya is a true artist (her work is incredible) not to mention she's one of the kindest souls in the world! Our biggest problem right now is that we have TOO many amazing photos to narrow down for our albums! (An excellent problem to have!) Thank you Tonhya for capturing so many magical moments on our big day - we are forever grateful! :)
Every part of the process with Tonhya was immensely enjoyable--from pre-wedding planning to post-wedding photo editing. Her work is outstanding in every way. The photographs she to...
ok have enabled us to re-experience not only the sights of our wedding but also the joy, love, tastes, aromas and music! Tonhya is an extraordinary force in our lives, and we cannot wait to have her photograph the next joyous milestone in our Book of Life.
Let's face it, finding the right photographer for your wedding can be a daunting task - and even more so in NYC where you have so many options. But I wanted to find someone specia...
l and Tonhya more than exceeded my expectations. She is simply amazing. She aims to capture real moments and true beauty in all her work. One of the best parts is getting to know her as a person. She's one of the kindest, funniest, most compassionate, genuine people you'll ever meet. For our engagement shoot and on our wedding day, she was one of the few aside from family and friends who made me feel at ease and supported. I knew from our first meeting that she wouldn't disappoint. If you're looking for a photographer, just know you'll find so much more with Tonhya who not only cares about her art but about people. Believe ME, that's rare in the wedding industry which has become so cold and commercialized. All those closest to me commented on how lovely she was to be around on the wedding day and of course her awesome work speaks for itself!! I can go on but will just end with saying I can't thank her enough. She was one of the best decisions my husband and I made.
It's impossible to explain how comfortable Tonhya made me and my wife feel not only on our wedding day, but the months and months leading up to it. We are not the type of people th...
at like to be the center of attention, or pose for photographs, or relinquish control to strangers.
Tonhya's charming, empathetic, and professional nature totally broke down those walls. It was obvious very early on that she was not a stranger or typical work for hire, but that she was a friend looking to make and document a genuine connection between us. While we spent an entire year planning, stressing, and adapting to every little unexpected nuance that comes with building a wedding from scratch, the one thing we never had to second guess was her.
She captured that entire day so flawlessly, and with such poise and perfection that when we got our photos back they instantly transported us back in time. It literally brought us to tears.
I could not recommend her enough!
Tonhya is everything you could want in your photographer -- and more. She has a gift for capturing every moment of your wedding with both sweeping, cinematic beauty and beautiful i...
ntimacy. No two photos were alike. Tonhya gets to know her clients so personally that your photos feel so uniquely yours, and so they are.
As a professional, Tonhya is tireless, accessible, prompt, lovely and incredibly easy to work with. She worked so diligently on our wedding day that my father pulled me aside to compliment her work ethic and seamlessness.
Tonhya and I developed such a strong friendship over the course of our working relationship that I found myself consulting with her on the day of my wedding. She helped me when I needed a bobby pin (she brought them in tow) and she captured the most beautiful photos when the skies opened and it poured on us.
My husband and I have started a tradition of taking anniversary photos once a year. We never have any doubts that they'll be beautiful, artful or personal.
I can't sing Tonhya's praises enough. You only get one set of wedding photos and after your wedding, those photos are one of the few things you get to take with you. I'm so glad we found Tonhya to capture the biggest and best moments of our lives.
Tonhya is an absolute dream to work with - you will be in VERY good hands. She did our engagement photos and wedding in Upstate New York on the Hudson river, which was featured on ...
Martha Stewart Weddings. We interviewed about a dozen wedding photographers but she really stood out to us; her aesthetic is romantic yet edgy and stands out from typical wedding photography. She excels at capturing portraits, beautiful details, candid moments, and pets (our dog Penny was the ring-bearer). I recommend her wholeheartedly.
Tonhya is hands down the most incredible photographer I've worked with. I spent a full month trying to find a photographer for our New York City wedding. I wanted someone that fe...
lt fashion forward but with an edge and could also grab the sentimental moments. I didn't realize how hard this was to find. She was all that and more. She was amazing at getting the shots without enroaching on your day and making you do a million posed photos. She has that west coast vibe which I was drawn to but with a New York edge. I even texted her 2 hours before our rehearsal/rehearsal dinner and asked her if she would be able to shoot our rehearsal (we originally only booked her for the wedding day). Without hesitation, she jumped on it and showed up, camera in hand and started shooting. I woke up on my wedding day with a preview of the shots from the rehearsal and I couldn't believe her turn around time. She is not only an incredible artist, but an incredible person that I am so happy I got to spend my big day with. After the wedding she sent us a preview of our wedding that we cherished on our honeymoon as we got to relive the day through the photos. I highly recommend Tonhya Kae for the couple that is looking for someone that can capture the sentimental moments but also give your photos that extra artistic quality.
Tonhya was the photographer for our wedding last June and we truly love both her and our wedding photos. She was simultaneously always there when we needed her but never obtrusive....
She kept us running on time but also kept us calm when there were inevitable delays. She even coaxed some cute poses out of our very stubborn terrier. We couldn't imagine spending 7 hours of the most stressful and meaningful day of our lives with anyone else.
The photos are so sophisticated and unique that my mother-in-law says they look like they're from Vogue. But there are also many beautiful candid shots that capture the love and laughter between the two of us and our families. Price-wise Tonhya was on the high end of the photographers we talked to and with other photographers we could have afforded more time or two shooters, but we didn't regret our decision at all.
We fell in love with Tonhya the second we met her. I saw her work on a friend's engagement pictures and knew that she was the one for us! At our meeting she was sweet, easy going...
, knowledgable, and her work was amazing! Tonhya was easy to get ahold of, prompt at replying to emails, and happily tolerated my obsessive questions/planning/wedding day schedule. We did engagement pictures with her about 8 months before the wedding and they were beautiful, she has such a great eye for light and color. Our wedding pictures are unbelievable and I'm so happy we picked Tonhya. She was a joy to have around on our big day and the pictures will be treasured for the rest of our lives.
