Toodie's Fine Jewelry is a second-generation, family-owned jeweler in Quincy, Massachusetts, ten miles south of Boston. Howard G. Jacobs opened the store in 1982 and named it for his mother, Toodie. His sons, Adam and Andrew, bought the business in 2023 and run it together today. We specialize in custom engagement rings, and the design work is free. DESIGNED FOR YOU, NOT PULLED FROM A CASE Most couples arrive with something in mind; a screenshot, a photo of a grandmother's ring, a rough idea they can't quite describe. We sit down with you, talk through stone, metal, and budget, then design your ring in 3D and show you a photorealistic rendering before anything is made. There is no design fee. Almost nobody approves the first version, and that is the point. Thinner band, lower profile, more space between the stones, we revise until it is right. You only commit once you love it. We are a maker, not a dealer of labels. Your ring is designed and set here in our building, not ordered from a catalog house. If something ever needs attention, you know exactly where to find the people who made it. HEIRLOOM STONES AND FAMILY RINGS Some of the best rings we build start with a stone someone inherited. A grandmother's diamond in a setting nobody would wear today. A ring that doesn't fit and lives in a drawer. We examine every heirloom stone under a loupe before designing around it, and we tell you honestly what we find, including if a stone is chipped or a mounting has been repaired before. Occasionally a stone isn't sound enough to reset safely, and it's better to learn that at the first meeting than after the work has started. DIAMONDS, BANDS, AND HONEST GUIDANCE We carry GIA-graded natural diamonds and lab-grown stones, and we'll show you both side by side under magnification and in daylight so you can decide for yourself. We'll tell you where an extra thousand dollars makes a visible difference and where it genuinely does not. We also design matching and contoured wedding bands, men's bands, and anniversary pieces. Many of our couples come back to us for their bands, then for anniversary gifts years later. That is the business our father built, and it is still the one we want. For wedding party and groom gifts, we carry new and pre-owned fine watches, including Rolex, Cartier, and Omega, and we source specific pieces worldwide on request. TIMELINE Tell us your proposal date or wedding date at the first meeting and we will tell you honestly whether we can hit it. Which we will!
