Toujours Wedding Planning

Future brides need to beware of Toujours Wedding Planning and owner Makayla Kelley, of Omaha, Nebraska. I contracted with Makayla back in September of 2018 to create 10 bouquets, 19 boutonnieres, and 7 wrist corsages for my October 2019 wedding. Originally Makayla was responding in minutes notice and was very involved. However, in recent months I experienced no returned calls, texts, and even Facebook messages for days and weeks. When I did receive a response, Makayla used several excuses as to why she had not begun working on my order, such as her Facebook Messenger was not working, she broke her phone, or her floral order did not come in. Makayla left me 44 days out from my wedding and in sheer panic working to find a professional reliable florist. Makayla is not willing to return my deposit that I placed last year, even though she never began working on my order, never sent me images of the flowers she intended to use, and failed to provide the flowers on the deadline she provided for my order. After doing further investigation, I found that I am not her first victim. This is a reoccurring act of Makayla’s. Seriously do NOT be fooled by her!

Makayla started great and responsive, and told me everything I wanted to hear about her services and how much help she could offer. When it came to the first meeting she no showed me. She had a sick child so I was understanding. We had meet and each time we met things we had discussed she had forgotten about or changed. Everything went fairly well with her up until the day before and day of. She had forgotten that she agreed to come and hour before the rehearsal to start decorating as i agreed to help her with some of my bridesmaids as well. Once she did show up I felt like there was no one way she could have done it with out our help, she didn’t really know what was going on or how to help. The day of my wedding was a disaster, my groomsmen and bridesmaids had to help her set up both my ceremony space and reception space or it would have never been done and everyone was frantic and stressing me out completely. at the end of the reception she was supposed to be in charge of tear down but had gotten way too drunk at our reception to even help. She was dropping things, falling over the place and everything.. the next day I found out my entire 3 tier cake was thrown away, she had no idea if any of my bouquets were kept and where a lot of my decor was. When I asked her about these things she just told me she wasn’t in charge of things like that and blamed my bridesmaids who had to help clean up. She also never acknowledged her behavior at my reception, all of my close friends and family were very aware of how trashed she Got. She had been communicating with my chair cover lady saying i was difficult and bad talking me and my friends and family, which my chair cover lady sent me. I couldn’t believe she behaved this way and as for my cake and bouquets... I was devastated over these really Important things as I will never get them back. Unfortunately i wouldn’t recommend her.

I am writing this review because I had a terrible experience and I want to make sure I warn other brides or potential clients of Toujours Wedding Planning and Makayla Kelley to stay away! I ordered and paid $131.60 down payment for 7 faux flower bouquets and 3 boutonnieres on October 21, 2015 from Toujours. My wedding was October 8, 2016 so I had plenty of time (nearly a year) built in for completion, or so I thought. Makayla promised me due dates and progress pictures by July, August, Labor Day, and October 1st "and no later" yet never delivered or sent a single photo. When I finally got worried and asked her to confirm a delivery date of October 2nd (three days before I left for my out of town wedding), she said "I really would like to say yes but I don't want to guarantee it and not follow through." I had no choice but to cancel my order and scramble to make my own bouquets the weekend before my wedding. To make matters worse, Makayla is now refusing to give me a refund. She says she already spent my money on supplies so she will not be paying me back. I then requested that I be able to pick up the supplies she spent my money on and she refused. I have tried every avenue to get my refund but she doesn't care. My last resort is to just eat the money and at least warn other people so they don't find themselves in a similar situation. I feel like Makayla Kelley took my $131 and ran. I'm sure there are people who have had no issues with her but, if I were a bride, I wouldn't want to risk it. Trust me, it is more stress than it's worth.
