We could not have found a wedding venue that was more perfect than Tourterelle!! You cannot beat the 360 degree mountain views and stunning facilities. On top of all that, we received top-tier service from Christine and her team who are truly the best in the business. From our first conversation with Christine, we knew Tourterelle would be everything we dreamed of, in large part because of her! She is so warm, accommodating, and experienced. She makes every interaction feel special and no-stress. The food was excellent, the getting ready suite is straight out of a magazine, and the staff will take care of every detail to make sure the day goes smoothly. Our wedding at Tourterelle was the best day ever!!
We got married at Tourterelle at peak foliage season, early October. Standing outside you have a beautiful no matter which way you looked. Christine was absolutely fabulous with every little detail, and supporting my family in all of our crazy decorative ideas. Her staff took great care of us throughout the weekend, the food was great, and the party was fabulous! I would absolutely recommend a fall wedding at this venue, or any time of year because Christine was just the best!
We had our wedding at Tourterelle in June. It was AMAZING- better than we ever could have imagined!! Christine was incredible. She walked us through every aspect of planning: developing a menu to accommodate gluten-free and vegan guests, helping to build our day-of timeline and decorating the venue!
The food was delicious and Christine and her team went above any beyond to help us put personal touches on the day. We wanted refreshments available for the ceremony, our favorite local wines to be served, and a gluten-free cake. She made it happen!
We had our ceremony and cocktail hour outside and our reception in the bar. The scenery was absolutely gorgeous and our pictures are stunning. The majority of our guests came from out of town and were in awe of the vistas.
Lastly, we reserved the bridal suite upstairs. It was great to have that space for prepping day-of and Christine made sure we had everything we needed.
We are so glad we chose to have our wedding at Tourterelle and can’t recommend it enough!!
Any questions?
I got married at Tourterelle last weekend. It was truly the most magical experience from start to finish.
To start, we didn't have a planner. And we really didn't need one thanks to Christine, who was organized, efficient, and communicative. Her recommended vendors were all perfect. She was a superstar and we would not have been able to make it all happen without her.
The suite above the venue is absolutely stunning. I stayed there with my girlfriends and it felt so incredibly luxurious and serene. Christine made sure we had all the breakfast bites and fruit and drinks we needed. It was an amazing space to stay and to get ready. Everything from the nice soaps to the bedding to the teas and coffee was perfection. It was so well-appointed that I didn't need to stress about a thing.
As for the venue: Wow. The barn is glorious. It's light, airy, there's AC if you need it, there's space for people to dance and people to eat; there's endless space outside for people who want to hang or make s'mores. Everyone was in AWE of the space. What's more: Christine took care of all the decorating. She hung the lights, put out the place cards, helped us with the seating chart. She worked with our vendors and made sure that the day was actually perfect.
The outdoor ceremony was beyond gorgeous. There isn't a bad view. I love how Christine set up the benches near the arbor. It was picture-perfect.
The food was also unbelievably good. If you're a couple that cares about food as we do, you will not be disappointed. Fried chicken, garlic mashed potatoes, maple glazed carrots...everything was amazing. Plus, the team was able to accommodate food allergies easily. The vegans were super impressed! We loved that we were able to serve our guests family-style. It was at once casual and refined.
I'd also like to say that I have anxiety and I was pretty nervous before the ceremony. Christine was so, so compassionate and sweet. I felt really supported and cared for the entire time. Her staff of bartenders and servers was equally wonderful.
If you're wavering on where to get married, this is the place. It will always be special to me and I'll always remember how supported I felt throughout the entire process and how incredible everyone was. I really felt like I had a team getting me over the finish line. 10/10. 1,0000/10. It was perfect.
My husband and I had our wedding at Tourterelle a week ago Saturday and we are thrilled with our choice. Christine, who owns the venue, is incredibly helpful and generally amazing at what she does. Not only did she pull off our wedding without a hitch, she also managed to renovate the entire inn connected to the venue before our wedding rehearsal.
We were the first couple to get married at Tourterelle after their June 2020 fire and the venue has truly risen from its ashes like a phoenix. They made the best of a terrible experience and created a space that is modern and gorgeous that still retains the history of the old structure, which is complimented by Christine's timeless, comfortable, natural, and bright design aesthetic. My bridal party and family stayed at the inn and we had the best time getting ready in the morning, and everyone appreciated being able to quickly hop upstairs and into bed at the end of a long night of dancing.
The wedding itself was a dream. While the stunning views would have wowed us enough to be happy, the food, service, and overall flow and ease of getting married at Tourterelle truly were remarkable. Christine and Chef Tom were amazing and incredibly accommodating of my many requests to modify the menu to suit vegetarian, vegan, nut free, and gluten free dietary restrictions. My husband and I were also psyched that Tourterelle offers late night wood-fired pizza, a touch that our guests also really seemed to appreciate.
I'll stop gushing about our experience with Tourterelle because this already makes for far longer a review than anyone would appreciate, but I truly believe that Tourterelle provided the most magical wedding experience that I could have ever imagined. Thank you, Christine!
Our son's wedding was absolutely magical. The setting and facilities were superb. The food was great. The staff was extremely helpful and cooperative. The entire experience was nothing short of fantastic. The memories will endure!
I couldn't have imagined a more perfect place for our wedding. the view from the grounds of Tourterelle are absolutely stunning and have views of the Green and Adirondack mountains. Christine and her staff were such a pleasure to work with and helped us plan and execute the wedding of our dreams. All of our guests raved about the delicious food, and the service and flow of the entire night. I am just thrilled by how it all worked out, and would highly recommend the venue and the amazing value that you get at Tourterelle!
Christine and her team are absolute goddesses! From the very beginning, she was calm and thoughtful throughout the process even when I had moments of feeling anxious. She was so easy going and thoughtful, particularly when the day didn't go as planned (bride and bridal party in the hospital the morning of the wedding with food poisoning from another business!). She never faltered, maintaining her cool and being accommodating as the timeline of the day changed. Beyond Christine's expertise, the food, venue, and staff were divine. Such a beautiful day, even including the unexpected illness. If you are thinking about having a wedding in Vermont, Tourterelle should definitely be on your list!
Having our wedding at Tourterelle was one of the best decisions we made in our wedding process. The space is beautiful with views of the Adirondacks and the Green Mountains - it is a venue that truly has everything. Christine was helpful in planning and calming on the day of the wedding and the week leading up to the wedding (very important!) to the wedding party and the guests. Christine was extremely helpful in showing us our options and helping us customize everything to fit our needs and wants. All of our out-of-town guests were blown away by the beauty of the location, the food, the drinks, and the service staff. I can't recommend Tourterelle enough!
The Tourterelle Inn provided for the most spectacular experience for our wedding. Christine Snell (owner) was absolutely wonderful to work with on planning our special day. She not only went above and beyond, to ensure making the day was everything we could have dreamed of, she worked with us to make sure we received the best experience possible. She even let our dog stay with us throughout the whole ceremony and wedding.
The venue was picture perfect the day of the wedding. Everything the day of the event ran so smoothly, that I did not worry a single bit the whole event. Christine's staff were very respectable and professional. The food was delicious!
I cannot say enough positive words about our experience.
Tourterelle was the perfect location for our wedding reception on October 22, 2016. They'd recently renovated the event area and added gorgeous natural wood paneling and heat (our wedding was a chilly day!). It's a beautiful place with mountain views, a pond and a fire pit.
Christine Snell, the event coordinator, is a rock star. She exceeded our expectations and was a DREAM to work with.
And the food! We started with a Vermont cheese assortment, dates, nuts, crackers and fresh fruit. Then salad and a buffet featuring pepper crusted filet mignon with orange horseradish glaze, ginger orange grilled salmon and mango salsa, and a portabello napoleon with goat cheese and red pepper coulis -- with sides of grilled vegetables and rosemary roasted potatoes. Christine arranged for us to have a mini wedding cake for the cake-cutting, then we served mini creme brûlées for our guests. Christine was very helpful in helping us to meet our budget, and she was even willing to help with other details such as table linens and the reception schedule.
Tourterelle hit it out of the park. Thanks for a wonderful reception!
We had our wedding at Tourterelle on 9/10/16. This place is a hidden gem and the perfect spot for a beautiful Vermont wedding. The surroundings are beautiful and you can see both the green mountains and Adarondacks from the venue making it a great spot for pictures. We worked with Whitney their wedding coordinator and she made everything very easy and was great at answering all of our questions (of which we had a lot). The food was one thing that initially drew us to this place and it did not disappoint, we even had late night wood fired pizza which was a huge hit. I would highly recommend Tourterelle!
I had my wedding at The Tourterelle this past July and cannot express how magical and beautiful a venue the Tourterelle Inn is. From the beautuful setting surrounded by my mountains to the rustic barn and large outdoor area where guests can mingle and roam freely.
Working with Christine was so unbelievably easy and she is the most wonderful person to host your wedding. She is extremely organized, calm, and made everything so easy for us.
In terms of wedding food, this is the best of it. The food was amazing! We had a buffet with delicious Filet Mignonette cooked to perfection, moist Chicken in a champagne sauce, roasted veggies and the most amazing mushroom ravioli I have ever tasted. I am craving them as we speak.
Christine was so helpful in terms of allowing us to come set up early and she also set up so many decorations for us and made everything look perfect.
The service was seamless and all of my guests were extremely impressed.
This was the most amazing day of our lives and I am so thankful to have found this place and met Christine and her staff.
I could not have had a more magical wedding experience than what Tourterelle offered. Between Christine's amazing hostessing skills, which resulted in the whole day going super smoothly, to Bill's superb performance in the kitchen, resulting in a fine dining experience, every detail of our wedding day was perfect. Christine attended to our very specific needs and let us make the venue totally our own. It felt like having a backyard wedding at my own home. The pizzas and firepit after the formal reception were a HUGE hit - most of our guests stayed on just to keep the party going. It was an awesome, original, and memorable touch that no other venue has like it.
All in all, a truly superb experience. This place keeps getting better and better.
I am the mother of the bride and my husband and I live in Massachusetts. We hosted our daughter Julia and her husband Justin's wedding reception at the Tourterelle Inn on 7/31/16 . It was truly an amazing and memorable day, in large part for having selected the Tourterelle Inn . The venue is incredible - a newly renovated barn overlooking acres of land with an onsite pond and expansive views of the Adirondacks and Green Mountains. The food was delectable. We had a buffet and everyone was so pleased with the menu. At the reception and the days that followed, guests commented on the amazing beauty of the venue and the excellence of the food and service provided by Christine and her staff. Just last week, my cousin from New Jersey again remarked upon the "exquisite venue" and the attentiveness of the staff.
Christine, along with her husband, chef Bill, own the Tourterelle Restaurant and Inn. I cannot offer enough superlatives about the service, professionalism and comfort that Christine provided to us in the planning process. She truly made what we thought difficult decisions easy ; menu selection (so many delicious choices), wine selection, bar service, reception schedule, decorations, DJ set-up, flowers, floor plan, tables, tablecloths, napkins, wedding cake and dessert choices. She offered advice, accommodated our choices and worked with our vendors. She worked within our budget, made changes and amendments graciously when we changed our minds , even when I think we might have been driving her crazy. Christine returned every phone call and answered our so many questions in a knowledgeable and confident way. I cannot emphasize how much assistance and guidance she provided in a calm and assuring manner. I will be forever grateful for the part she played in making Julia and Justin's wedding day truly memorable. She is a consummate professional. The Tourterelle Inn is a magical place to have a wedding. Would do it all over again at the Tourterelle without changing a thing!
We were beyond happy with our decision to have Tourterelle as our wedding venue. It was exactly what we were looking for and more. From the very beginning Christine was amazing to work with. They have the option to have everything included which is really nice. I didn't have to worry about coordinating with so many vendors. We choose to rent the Inn for the weekend which made it really special for me day of. I was able watch everything come together and assist with decorations to ensure everything was how I wanted it! Throughout the night everything went seamless. Food was incredible, service was superb, flat bread pizza and fire was a awesome touch at the end of the night. I didn't have to clean up that night or the morning after! My husband and I woke up to a pancake breakfast with fresh fruit & coffee!
If you and your fiance are looking for a reasonably priced venue with incredible food and service, I would highly recommend looking into Tourterelle.
Our son and our new daughter-in-law were recently married at Tourterelle. It was a beautiful setting and the food was delicious! Christine and her staff were very accommodating. Due to Vermont's sometimes crazy weather, they set up the ceremony outside, then moved everything inside the barn when it started pouring rain, then the weather cleared at the last minute and moved everything outside again! The views are gorgeous! The barn is a wonderful size and is decorated beautifully . The new air conditioning was great to keep the flowers and guests from wilting in the heat! The salad and rolls were served individually and the meal was buffet style. All the food was exceptional! The wedding cake was delicious and elegant. Thank you Christine and Bill for a wonderful venue for our son and his new bride's wedding! It was a wonderful day!
Have aways LOVED dining at Tourterelle so it was extremely easy to decide on this beautiful venue for our wedding and reception. Christine is absolutely one-of-a-kind. She made us feel at ease during the planning period and extremely comfortable during the wedding and reception. Just a wonderful, patient, loving, accommodating host. Love her. And the food!!! Bill is an incredible Chef. We did buffet style with assorted desserts. Every bit of food was eaten and all 300 desserts were polished off - there were only 126 guests. Clearly EVERYONE loved the food! The newly renovated barn was perfect for the reception with plenty of room to dance and enjoy live music. The natural breeze coming through the open doors cooled the area and never made it feel too small or too hot.
Wish we could go back and do it all over again! So many of our guests were in awe of how beautiful it was. If you're thinking about getting married in Vermont, you should definitely consider Tourterelle, Christine, and Bill. Amazing.
Christine and Bill made the planning -- both weeks and months before -- and day of coordination -- an absolute breeze. We are both food-lovers, and vegetarians, so we knew we were pushing the comfort zone of the kitchen a little bit, but every part of the meal was absolutely fantastic. The day itself ran incredibly smoothly, with Christine being attentive to every detail from the minute we arrived in the morning (and a lot of the background work in the days leading up to our wedding) until the bus pulled out around 11-11:15 PM. Late night pizza and ice cream and the fire pit which Whitney (another planner who works alongside Christine) set up were many of the small touches that Tourterelle provides to make the evening a truly special, enjoyable day. She and Bill are flexible, fun, and highly organized making this an ideal place for an elegant but low-key wedding. Furthermore, the space has gorgeous grounds in case of nice weather, but very reasonable rain plans (which we had to tap into) as well. If I could do it all again, I would get married at Tourterelle.
My husband and I are total foodies and ex-chefs. we are super particular and had an in-depth tasting with Christine before the event and the menu was pretty spot on. We had grilled salmon as a rehearsal dinner dish at Tourterelle and roasted chicken for the wedding among many other dishes and they were cooked perfectly. She and Bill, her husband/chef, were very very open to discussing the fine points of menu changes. I seriously thought I was being annoying at some point but she was always open to discussing. I am very communication oriented and I never waited for longer than a day to get a response and heard back from her many times in a day sometimes. Email was the easiest with a few key phone chats. The phone chats never felt rushed. Christine is extremely charming and was there often at our wedding and rehearsal to hand me a glass of water or a cocktail or check in at the function and was never “hovery”.
We had our rehearsal at Tourterelle. The space there is gorgeous and has multiple areas to hang out including bocce. After we were working for days at my parents home to set-up for my wedding it was amazing to do the rehearsal dinner at tourterelle. I had forgotten how pretty it is. We had 50 for dinner and there would been plenty of space for 100 and dancing. We blasted karaoke music until midnight and I never heard a complaint about noise.
The restaurant is pretty french in its approach and we had her do a rustic french wedding dinner for the wedding at my parents house but an upscale mexican for the rehearsal. Everyone raved about the food and the service, and the mole and guacamole were super on point. I wish we had had more time to do two separate tastings for our wedding and rehearsal dinners- I would recommend that if you do two events with her.
Her staff was always available with a smile and cheerful attitude and Christine herself was the first to arrive (by hours) and the last to leave very late after our wedding. She always managed even in the summer heat to appear focused, energetic and lovely.
She had several recommendations for us for dj and karaoke that were super professional but low key and inexpensive people to work with.
After all was said and done I felt like Christine and Bill were new members of our family and even came over just to visit a couple days after the event. I wish I lived locally and threw big parties for a living so I could work with her again!
My now wife and I got married at Tourterelle this past weekend.
The staff and owners were phenomenal, organized, detail oriented and flexible. We did both our ceremony and reception on site, we were able to comfortably fit over 135 people. The food was delicious, fresh and exactly what we wanted.
Bill and Christine (owners) were creative, receptive to our wants, kind and very helpful in our planning process. Communication between us and Tourterelle was prompt, thorough and stress free.
We highly recommend everyone research and look into using Tourterelle as their ceremony/reception venue or catering company.
My husband and I had our reception at Tourterelle in August 2015 and I cannot recommend it enough for a Vermont wedding. Christine and the staff were INCREDIBLE and it was everything that we wanted. Christine was very detail oriented throughout the process and the night of, was on top of everything. She also let us design our reception just as we wanted with signature cocktails, lawn games, fire pits after dark, a Ben & Jerry’s outside catered cart for ice cream with the cake, and a beautiful send-off. The site itself is gorgeous and our friends couldn’t believe the views over Addison County and across to the Adirondack Mountains as well.
And of course, the food was delicious! My husband comes from a family of restaurateurs and this was the first reason we looked at Tourterelle – the restaurant is awesome. The catered meal for guests at the reception lived up to the standards of my husband’s family and all our friends from Manhattan, Boston, and beyond. Chef Bill Snell did a fantastic job. We can’t wait to come back for anniversary dinners in the years to come!
Christine Snell is an amazing woman who manages the restaurant in an incredibly organized fashion. Her husband, Bill, cooks the most amazing French cuisine that is offered in Vermont. Their quaint location on top of the crest of gentle hill outside of New Haven offers views of both the Adirondack mountains to the West and the beautiful Green Mountains to the East. Christine caters and choreographs the entire thing with the help of the bride and groom. She loves to get the details down to give your wedding a polished, thoughtful, and personal touch.
My wife and I recently celebrated our marriage and every one of our guests complimented the food, the attention to detail, the location and what a wonderful job my wife did in coordinating the events of the night with Christine. The porch out back is quite large, considering that we had 130 guests and plenty of room for dancing. There's also a bar with room for 3 taps, and many wine, beer and liquor choices. We were married under the old willow tree near the pond behind the restaurant, which afforded wonderful views.
The price was not concerning, considering the amount of time that Christine puts into the event and the customized menu that Bill creates. Had we gone anywhere else, we would have been broke before we started. However, Christine was more than willing to work with us on paying chunks at a time instead of all at once. She takes care of all the rental stuff (tables, chairs, tablecloths, etc), and Bill makes the most awesome food choices. Our group contained a variety of folks with dietary needs that were easily accommodated. There was an amazing vegan dish that everyone ate, a chicken dish that was (I was told) fantastic, and a scallop dish that had a coconut milk sauce that was cooked to perfection. I cannot say enough good things about Tourterelle! If you're looking for a beautiful, romantic and quaint place to hold a classy wedding, this is the best choice you could possibly make.
My husband and I got married this October 2014, we can’t express how happy we are that we chose Tourterelle as our Venue. For years we admired the space Tourterelle had to offer. Photography is very important to us and the space is beautiful, exactly what we wanted for our wedding photos. I had always envisioned having my wedding at Tourterelle, so when my husband proposed to me last November I was eager to contact Christine and Bill. They were so kind and supportive; they worked with our budget to create the most beautiful wedding we could have imagined.
Christine went above and beyond in supporting us with everything; she got back to my every question. I could never have imagined a more perfect day, the weather was great, the ceremony was amazing, the deck was decorated so beautifully and the staff we all supportive, respectful and kind.
Something that really stuck out to me was the food. Bill is an incredible chef and was flexible with our wacky eating habits. I had tons of compliments on our menu that evening. I kept telling my guest that I had little to do with the flavor or style of the food, it was all Bill! He took my requests and made an amazing meal that everyone was able to enjoy. It was phenomenal!
We would recommend this venue to anyone!!
My husband and I just celebrated our first anniversary, after hosting our ceremony and reception at Tourterelle last August. We initially visited a host of venues in the Middlebury area, and we left our first visit at Tourterelle knowing it the one for us. Christine is incredible - she is so sweet and made the entire day so memorable. We LOVED visiting a few months prior and sitting down to the dinner that would be served on our wedding night. We lucked out with perfect weather (no small feat in Vermont!) but Tourterelle would be beautiful in any weather. Guests were still telling us how beautiful everything was and how much fun they had a year later. We are so happy with our choice, and plan on visiting Tourterelle on anniversaries for years to come.
We had such a memorable and perfect wedding g at Tourterelle!! christine made everything just fit together and I had no worries! The food was delicious. My guests had a fabulous time and the atmosphere was just perfect! Would highly recommend to every couple!!
My daughter and son-in-law's reception at Tourterelle was absolutely wonderful! The venue is beautiful with amazing mountain views both east and west, as well gorgeous grounds with so many options for taking photos. Throughout the planning process, Christine was so informative, professional, accommodating, and reassuring that on the big day, everyone was able to completely enjoy the festivities. It all went so smoothly! Bill did an amazing job with the food - absolutely everything was delicious, from the appetizers to the desserts! It really was phenomenal, and guests didn't stop remarking about it. I wholeheartedly recommend Tourterelle as a wedding/reception venue! It really is perfect!!
The folks at Tourterelle are fantastic. We had a great meal, the waiters/waitresses were professional and courteous, and they were very accommodating to all of our preferences and dietary constraints. Anything you can think that fits within the very versatile parameters of their menu, they can cook and serve with class and elegance.
The food was excellent, the service was professional. Christine will work with you to develop exactly the menu you want for a wedding, as we had several dietary complications on both sides of our family. Wonderful!
My husband and I had our wedding at Tourterelle in September 2013 and it could not have gone better. We are both native vermonters and wanted to show our guests how much that means to us. Tourterelle is a french restaurant of course but we worked with Christine to customize everything we really wanted. For example, instead of champagne for toasts we went with Woodchuck cider.
The outdoor hall is beautiful with a red barn look but open to excellent views of the mountains. We had a DJ and a dance floor as well as 85 guests at tables without crowding. We had the wedding ceremony as well as the reception on site. It was convenient for the guests (and us!) to not have to travel. There were plenty of places on the grounds for the photographer to use for the official wedding photos, and during the photos the guests had space to play lawn games.
We also worked with Christine on selecting a dinner menu and wedding cake. Both the cake and the dinner were amazing. The whole night went so fast but I wish I could have gotten more of the cake! We stayed for breakfast the next day which was included.
I can't forget to mention the fire pit. After dark, some of the guests roasted marshmallows. It was pretty neat sitting by a campfire in a wedding dress.
We rented the three bedrooms upstairs for the wedding night for ourselves and a few other people. I would recommend others doing the same, for both getting dressed beforehand and to not have to drive after the big day. The room my husband and I stayed in has a jacuzzi!
Christine was very easy to work with. The whole planning process was less stressful with her help. She gave us the whole day before to decorate the pavilion and wedding arch.
I recommend having your wedding at Tourterelle 100%!
We were married almost a year ago (how time flies!) at Tourterelle on a perfect fall day overlooking the Adirondack mountains. We visited wedding venues all over the state of Vermont, searching for something that was classic and quintessential Vermont without being out-of-this-world-expensive. We decided on Tourterelle for a number of reasons and were so glad we did!
The location, about five minutes out of Middlebury, provides ample lodging for guests, after-party bars to keep the wedding going into the wee hours of the night and lots of Vermonty activities for your out-of-town friends and family. We ended up making our wedding a three-day event with a casual rehearsal dinner on Friday and brunch on Sunday morning.
The views from Tourterelle are beautiful with a pond and classic red barn with a post-and-beam interior. Our wedding day was cloudy with a chance of rain and quite cool for the fall, and our party of 100 partied the night away in the barn for stand-up hors d'oeuvres, dinner and dancing.
The best thing about Tourterelle is Christine and Chef Bill's flexibility. They've literally done pig roasts for weddings to fancy affairs with duck confit and filet mignon. Anything is possible, and they're happy to carry out your vision, whatever it may be. From cocktails to seating arrangements, they will do what they can to make your day special and fit your budget.
One thing that many people don't think about when picking a wedding venue is the importance of having a coordinator on the ground to implement your vision on the big day. You put so many hours into the planning... you want to make sure it's perfect. Tourterelle doesn't advertise this, but Christine is a phenomenal wedding-day coordinator. There's no need to hire one, which is also a cost-savings. I had a very specific vision, and on the Thursday before we got married, I literally dropped off crates and baskets and boxes full of decorations with directions for Christine and left her to work her magic. She carried out my vision beautifully, which was a huge stress off of me, my family and my bridesmaids on the big day. We could relax and know we were in excellent hands.
When looking back on it, there are many choices for wedding venues in Vermont, but I think you'll be hard-pressed to find one with people are caring as Christine and Bill, and as nimble and flexible. I also don't think you'll find a more beautiful ceremony location and quintessential Vermont barn for the prices at Tourterelle.
A year later, our friends and family keep telling us it was the best wedding they had ever been too (and they mean it). They always rave about the location and how Vermont it was to be married in such a beautiful, classic Vermont location.
I was able to have my dream wedding at Tourterelle. The setting was beautiful and fit my rustic theme perfectly. Christine, the owner, was a pleasure to work with and I enjoyed every moment of my wedding planning experience with her. There is no way to put into words how wonderful of a person, wedding planner, or inn owner she is! You will just have to meet her for yourself!
I had a lot of my own ideas and details I wanted to bring into the venue and Christine was very accommodating. She hung pictures of our grandparents, who unfortunately were no longer with us or unable to attend, on the tree in the reception area. I was the first bride to ask about having a car transport me to the ceremony site in front of the pond and Christine was very excited to try it and also let her upcoming brides know of this new idea. She even served complimentary pink lemonade to all the guests per a last minute request of mine.
Bill, the owner and chef, is very talented and makes delicious food. We did buffet style. Everyone raved about how delicious the food was from the meat to the side salad.
Every detail that I had imagined in my head came to life on my wedding day. I was able to relax and take in all of my hard work and planning while Christine made sure everything fell into place.
The following morning we were treated to a delicious brunch which was the perfect way to end the perfect wedding!
I am truly grateful that I got to work with Christine. My only complaint is that I can't plan a wedding at Tourterelle every year!
We chose this wedding venue for our wedding in June of 2013. We could not be more pleased with the way it turned out. From the amazing scenic views of the Green Mountains, to the beautiful pond out behind the restaurant with a fountain in the middle, to the incredible service, and the food it made the perfect setting for our summer wedding. Not to mention, it was so affordable for us, and worth every penny (if I remember right, I believe our cost included rehearsal dinner and 2 nights at the inn-with free brunch the next day). Owners Christine and Bill Snell were the most pleasant people to work with. Bill, the chef, made up an incredible menu selection of salmon and beef, both with side dishes, as well as a pasta dish for a vegetarian option for our guests. He worked around allergies, including my husbands and made sure to ask if any guests may have allergies to keep in mind as well. We chose to do a buffet because it fit our style and we wanted our guests to choose what they wanted when they saw the food and have the option to have a little bit of everything. We had plenty of food for all of our 110 guests. Christine was the ultimate wedding planner! I cannot say enough about her. She was everywhere we needed her to be throughout the wedding ceremony and beyond. We had the ceremony outside in front of the pond and the reception on their covered back deck which provides the perfect backdrop for a Vermont country wedding. My grandfather drove me out onto the lawn to the ceremony in his antique car and we also had photos done at sunset with my husband's motorcycle out on the lawn. Christine was fine with all of that and kept telling us how it was our wedding and to do what we wanted for our special day. Her staff was well trained and treated our guests with the utmost respect. They helped us get all set up before the wedding and tear down after and let us stay and party the night away. We had a bonfire in their contained pit next to the pond and enjoyed the evening with the close family and friends that stuck around late. There are so many different places for people to sit, stand, walk around and enjoy the company of one another at Tourterelle. We had such a great ceremony, reception, after party, experience, etc etc etc. I would recommend this venue to anyone looking to have their dream wedding in Vermont.
Our daughter's wedding reception at Tourterelle could not have been more delightful. Christine is knowledgeable and gracious in every detail. She understands the depth and intensity of a wedding event and her attention to quality and detail allowed us to relax and enjoy a perfect wedding reception. Our guests enjoyed the spacious grounds with lawn games during the cocktail hour, taking in a stunning view on a perfect June evening. There was little need for decoration extras. Chef Bill prepared a fabulous meal - served family style, which was just right for our friendly and outgoing guests! Everyone raved about the menu, the service and the setting. After the meal all the action was on the dance floor, but a few guests also enjoyed the nearby fire pit. Christine checked in with me throughout the evening, and I had total confidence in her management of the event. I only wish I lived nearby so I could spend more evenings at Tourterelle.
Tourterelle catered our wedding in June of 2012. My wife and I were married at my parents house in Middlebury, and needlessly drove all over Vermont meeting caterers when the perfect solution was just 15 minutes away.
I'm a vegan and my wife has some nut allergies - not an easy bunch to cook for! Christine and her husband - co-owners, the latter the chef - didn't balk in the least at this conundrum. Whereas other caterers floundered completely with ridiculous menus or wanted to charge absurd amounts for "specialized" food, Tourterelle simply took all this in stride. Christine in particular, but really everyone at the restaurant, was very calm, helpful, communicative, and honest, which made dealing with this aspect of the wedding totally stress free.
We got some guff from family members about a vegan wedding being total nonsense. And yet several friends and relatives remarked after the reception - we did family style, so everyone could try everything - that they were glad we did a vegan wedding, because they had no idea vegan food could be so good. These are hardcore meat and potatoes and whiskey people.
Finally, Christine dealt with table rentals, table cloths, the bar, and everything else associated with catering for us – it was all done with great efficiency, and we didn't have to worry or even think about any of it.
As for cost, Tourterelle fit perfectly within our budget. The bar tab was high, but we insisted upon open bar and have a lot of big drinkers in the family, so we anticipated as much. The food, service, table rentals etc were very reasonable. However, I should add the disclaimer that my wife and I have lived in places like New York, Tokyo, London, and Los Angeles, so we're usually surprised when things aren't incredulously expensive. I can't really speak to the value of Tourterelle relative to the Vermont economy because neither of us have lived in New England since 2007 or so.
If we had to do our wedding again, we might change a detail or two here or there, but would go straight back to Tourterelle. One of the best choices we made.
We were extremely impressed the moment we met Christine, owner of Tourterelle. It was a true delight to work with her. If you are looking for a Vermont country wedding, this is your place. The setting is gorgeous, with views of the Green and Adirondack Mountains, and a lovely pond with a fountain. We had numerous guests remark that this was the perfect place to have a wedding! In addition, the service was excellent, everything went smoothly, and the food was exceptional. Needless to say, we would highly recommend this venue! Thank you Christine!
The groom and I chose Tourterelle Restaurant & Inn for our wedding ceremony and reception. It is a great location with gorgeous views of the Green Mountains in Vermont and the Adirondack Mountains of northern New York. Christine, one of the owners of Tourterelle, is an expert of her trade! Things were well organized and we knew of no issues the entire day. We had about 120 guests and we all fit comfortably. The food, also provided by Tourterelle, was exceptional. The price provided to us included all table/linen/etc rentals, centerpieces, and more. We couldn't find a better deal in the area and couldn't be happier with our choice!
