Hi all! If you are looking for a makeup / hair artist for your big day or another important event, look no further!! Ashlyn & her team absolutely nailed it. I have never felt more beautiful in my life & I owe a big thank you to Ashlyn for that! My hair & makeup lasted ALL DAY….. in the August heat…. Let me tell you, that says enough about the quality of the work. Through lots of sweat & tears, the makeup didn’t budge. Not to mention, she gave me the most Pam Anderson inspired updo of my DREAMS! I couldn’t have pictured a better hairstyle for me on my big day! All of my bridesmaids & the mothers of the wedding looked equally as beautiful. I found Ashlyn on Instagram, which is honestly how I found most of my vendors. I looked at several hair and makeup companies in the area- comparing cost, reviews, portfolios, recommendations from friends, etc. but I kept coming back to Transformations. I just knew in my gut that Ashlyn and her team were the vendors for me! I could not be more thrilled with how everything turned out! Ashlyn is incredibly responsive and always works to educate her brides and clients. She is one of the main reasons I started taking better care of my skin and I could not be more grateful- as that care will continue well beyond the wedding day. I had the pleasure of working with Ashlyn for a hair and makeup trial, rehearsal dinner hair and makeup, and day-of services. For the trial and rehearsal, I went to her studio. It is very cozy, charming, and perfectly feminine. Ashlyn was always a welcoming hostess. On the day of her team came to our getting ready location and were prompt and ready to go! Everyone, and I mean everyone, raved about her and her team- from my bridesmaids to the mothers! There were different hair types, textures, lengths, and skin types, etc. At least one of my friends said if she wasn't already married she'd be booking Ashlyn and her team. They really take the time to understand what you want from your professional look. They ask clarifying questions, educate, and make recommendations. They were quick and friendly, plus our hair and makeup seriously lasted all night long- I have photos from our after-party and it looks like I just had it all done! This was hours later and after a lot of wind. I would book Transformations Artistry a thousand times over. I am so, so glad I went with my gut. When I think back on the time spent with Ashlyn I get a little emotional because she really was the loveliest. I genuinely hope our paths cross in the future- be it for hair and makeup for a party or event or as friends!

Ashlyn did my hair and makeup for both my rehearsal dinner and wedding in October 2023. We had already completed my bridal trial in August which was helpful for us to get to know one another and also find the look I was going for. Ashlyn’s work speaks for itself. She perfectly applies the look you’ve shown with your own facial features, and bone structure. If anything may differ, she is able to talk you through it so you can make informed decisions. She also is able to create flawless looks with little to no direction, which I found out for the rehearsal dinner when I told her to do what she thought best. It turned out perfectly, maybe even better than when I changed her artistry for my wedding day. Ashlyn creates art, in both occasions I felt like she created an astounding version of myself that only she could have done. In terms of character, Ashlyn is honest, brave, kind, and most importantly peaceful. When chaos ensues around her with an abundant amount of bridesmaids, mother-in-law’s, Mother of the bride, she handles it all in stride; calmly she speaks to you in a way that makes you feel valued. All in all, I am very grateful Ashlyn was available for my big day. I could not imagine not having her on our team of artists.

Ashlyn did a phenomenal job for my wedding! She is great at taking direction for the styles you like. She also gives tips on how to keep your skin hydrated for the wedding and is great at preparing you for what to expect on the morning of your wedding. She documents the hair and make up trial to remember later but also so you can look at those photos and videos later to help you make a decision. She seemed to be one of the more affordable options in the Richmond area as well. I highly recommend her!

From very first contact, my experience with Ashlyn was truly the best. She was super responsive, helpful, and clearly very knowledgeable. I was absolutely thrilled with my trial but, Ashlyn still took the time to talk through even my smallest feedback and discuss any tweaks to make sure everything would be absolutely perfect for my day. She even went as far as sending me a few Instagram videos she had come across in the weeks between my trial and wedding (during busy wedding season time) to show me exactly what she was thinking for the changes we discussed and to make sure we were perfectly on the same page. I was an awful client and showed up to my trial without any makeup inspiration. With just a few questions, she got to work. When the reveal happened I figured I’d have to tweak a few things. NOPE! She nailed it perfectly!! When I wanted to make a minor adjustment to my hair for the wedding day, she knew exactly what to do and it turned out amazingly. Ashlyn and her team are fantastic! I couldn't have asked for a better stylist for my wedding. My hair and makeup remained perfect the entire night (even in the rain). Ashlyn is also so sweet and made me feel relaxed on my wedding day. My bridal party was incredibly impressed with their work!

I had a amazing experience using transformation artistry for my engagement pictures! Ashlyn was accommodating and flexible when I had to reschedule my engagement pictures due to weather. In addition, she helped me pick the perfect hair and makeup style/look for our engagement session. She went above and beyond and even helped give me recommendations on wedding day hair with extensions, etc. she is very talented and will use her again for other special occasions!

My hair stylist had an injury a couple months out from my wedding and I frantically sent out last minute inquiries to a bunch of hair/makeup vendors. Ashlyn was able to fit me into her already busy day and gave me a hair and makeup look that was beautiful and lasted from 9am all the way through the end of my reception at 10pm. It was amazing!

I found Ashlyn through researching on various wedding websites like the Knot. She had amazing reviews and her IG profile confirmed her skills. I would highly recommend her to anyone. I had her do hair and makeup not only for me, but for a range of people from 25 to 85 years old (she even styled my husbands hair - he has long hair), so I feel I can speak on her abilities across ages and gender. She and her team knocked it out of the park with everyone. Everyone looked dolled up but not overdone. She and the team took time to understand what each person wanted and executed it beautifully. As for my hair and makeup, she was able to recreate it (with a few requested tweaks) exactly as we had done during the trial session. Ashlyn also did my engagement photo makeup and it was stunning. I was feeling rather anxious on my wedding day and Ashlyn was super accommodating and gentle with me.. so much so that actually getting my hair and makeup done was peaceful and just what I needed to calm my nerves. They provided both hair and makeup for 12 women in a short period of time, which the did seamlessly. Their work was flawless and every single person was thrilled with both their hair and makeup. Aside from their amazing work, they were all so sweet, patient and wonderful to spend the day with. As someone who only ever wears concealer and mascara, I was extremely apprehensive about hiring a makeup and hair stylist for my wedding. I reached out to Ashlyn with ideas, and she put me right at ease. When I visited her beautiful home studio for my trial, I had no idea how amazing it could feel being so pampered and having someone truly knowledgeable create a look I only thought possible in my dreams (or on the big screen!). Ashlyn and her team are AMAZING! One of my best friends used Transformations Artistry for her wedding in 2019, and after being in that wedding party and experiencing first hand their skill and true artistry, I told myself that if I ever got married I would book her. Fast forward two years and as soon as I got engaged to my now husband, I jumped right on booking them! And I could not be happier. When I went to my trial, I showed Ashlyn some different hair and makeup looks I found and pointed out different elements I did or didn't like about them. She was able to flawlessly pull together a perfect look for me, tying in all of the things I wanted. Then, for my wedding, she somehow managed to one-up herself and make my "look" even better. She told me that she takes pictures of her work to look back on and figure out what she can do better, which I really admire because it showcases her dedication to her work and desire to always provide the best services possible. She and her styling assistant made my entire bridal party look stunning and everyone felt beautiful and happy with the work they had done. Plus, aside from their skills, they're just really nice people and very professional but still relatable and easy to talk to. Ashlynn and her team are above and beyond. After my makeup and hair trial, I was over the moon happy and our family could not believe how she took the look that I wanted and brought it to life. On our wedding day, they were efficient and everyone was so pleased and amazed at how they looked. They work magic and are the kindest people. Where do I even begin? The week of my wedding started with the surprise that my hair and makeup team was backing out, leaving me stranded with nobody for my Friday wedding. Having an incredible planning team supporting me, I was able to find Ashlyn on Wednesday and she was a lifesaver, I’m so surprised that she was available because she is top notch, I wouldn’t be surprised if she was booked for the entire year out. Not only was I grateful for her kindness to help me with both hair and makeup services at the last minute, she arrived early, was so nice, down-to-earth, and friendly. Personality aside, she is a true professional at her job and I only had to show her two photos and not only did she make me feel my absolute best, she turned my inspiration photos into something so much more than I could've imagined. I had just met Ashlyn that morning but I could truly feel like I could trust her, and I’m so glad I did. First off, Ashlyn is amazingly responsive! Any time I would email her, she would email me back almost always the same day and within a couple of hours typically! My hair and makeup stayed perfect all day - I got married in late May and it was over 90 degrees at an outdoor wedding and everything remained flawless. She showed up on time and finished on time and everyone looked great! Her prices are also very respectable. I would definitely recommend her for your hair and makeup needs on your wedding day!

Ashlyn is the most professional beauty specialist I've ever met. From the moment I entered her classic Hollywood-inspired studio to when I walked out with my dream hair and makeup, I felt like I had her total support and attention. She is excellent at communication and we exchanged a lot of emails and idea pictures leading up to our appointment. I was a week away from an impromptu COVID elopement and I really had no clue what I wanted, except that it needed to match a 1960s vintage dress. Somehow, Ashlyn knew what to ask and she ended up designing a hair style that was absolutely perfect. She was equally knowledgeable about period-appropriate makeup. She has a peaceful manner. I was so relaxed the whole time, I almost dozed off! Afterwards, people said I looked ready for the set of a BBC film. And my fiancé's jaw dropped when he saw me. What more can a girl ask?

Luckily I found Ashlyn and she was able to fit me into her schedule for our wedding day. I absolutely adore her. My maid of honor came along for my trial and the three of us chatted the entire time. On the day of the wedding, everyone LOVED how their hair turned out and talked about how wonderful and nice the stylists were. I had such a specific idea of how I wanted my hair to look and they absolutely nailed it. They were both so sweet and extremely professional. Ashlyn did a wonderful job on my hair & makeup for our engagement photos, and was such a trooper about an EARLY morning start (it was a sunrise shoot!) She's really talented and makes you feel beautiful - I'm so happy that she'll be doing my wedding hair & makeup as well! We unfortunately had to postpone our 2020 wedding to 2021 due to COVID-19, and changed our date fairly early on because of concerns & restrictions with our families traveling. Ashlyn did an AMAZING job with me, my bridesmaids, and my mom for my wedding this past weekend. She was efficient, but never made it seem like things were rushed even though we were on a specific timeline. The make up was flawless and stayed for the entirety of the day/night; we started make up at 645am and the night ended at 1030pm, and there was a lot of dancing involved. It also was more natural looking than I expected, neither me nor my bridesmaids wear a lot of make up, and none of us felt it was “too much”. We also all got our hair done and she did something different with each one of us even though almost everyone wanted it up. We ALL received many compliments throughout the night about what a beautiful job she had done and I have many cousins who have had recent weddings so they were noticing specially, these weren’t just random comments. I would recommend her to anyone planning an event and wanting to look naturally gorgeous!!!

I hired Ashlyn to do my hair and makeup for my wedding in September and she did beyond an amazing job. I showed her inspiration pictures of what I wanted and she made sure that it was exactly what I wanted before I walked down the aisle. Not only that, but I was sold the wrong hair extensions ( tape ins instead of clip ins) at a beauty store and Ashlyn was quick to come up with a solution. I hired Ashlyn to do hair and makeup for my bridal party. She did hair and makeup for 5 women with ages ranging between 30-82 and every single person looked radiant. I am truly impressed at how well my makeup stayed on through some happy tears and a lot of sweat on the dance floor. Ashlyn and her team are true artists and professionals. The morning of my wedding, they came to our hotel room to do hair and makeup for my mom, my bridesmaids, and me. Not having to travel to a salon made the whole process so much more relaxing! Ashlyn and her team were able to accommodate our specific hair and makeup requests, and all of us were so happy with the results! Our makeup lasted all day, which is a huge feat for the end of June in Richmond!

Of all the (many) things that I worried about in the weeks leading up to my wedding, my hair and makeup were never a concern! After my trial with Ashlyn, I was 100% confident that she would do a beautiful job and my hair and makeup would last all night... and they did! Ashlyn is a true artist and has such an incredible gift. She did everything from beachy waves, to Kate Middleton updos, to a dramatic curly side ponytail on my bridal party, applied makeup that looked flawless in photographs and lasted all night in the Virginia heat & humidity, and somehow managed to curl and braid the hair of my charming but squirmy five year old flower girl... all with a smile on her face! Beyond the work that she did, what really elevated my experience working with Ashlyn was the customer service. She is a JOY and clearly cares so much about her brides. I did my trial just before taking my engagement photos, and she took the time to take down my updo and touch up the curls so I could wear it down for those photos. Ashlyn was wonderful to work with and made the morning of my wedding day seamless! I never had to worry about them not showing up on time - in fact, they arrived before my bridesmaids! My wedding was about 3 hours away from where she is based but she was willing to travel and paying the travel fee was well worth the final product. The hair and makeup on all my bridesmaids and MOH reflected each girls individual style, but she kept all the looks true to what I wanted so everyone looked great as a group. Ashlyn and her team did an amazing job with mine and my bridal parties hair/makeup. My sister kept saying how amazing the makeup was. Our hair stayed all night with the exception of my curls, but it was a humid day. I was very nervous when getting ready and Ashlyn was helpful in making me feel better. I was worried there would not be enough time to finish everyone, but they finished on time with no problems. That was one of the main concerns I heard from many past brides, is that they were rushing to the ceremony because the hair/makeup ran late. They did an amazing job for a reasonable price for the whole party and in a timely manner.

I am so thankful we hired Transformations Artistry for our wedding day! Two of my concerns going into our wedding day were the size of my bridal party (it was large!) and the weather (hairstyles in the rain- or hurricane warning ha). Ashlyn and her team were able to knock out all of my girls’ hair and makeup for pictures before the ceremony and their styles lasted throughout the evening. The team was great about giving suggestions, following inspiration photos and explaining the WHY if they suggested doing another style.
