About this vendor
Located in Lowville Rd, NY, Tug Hill Vineyard is a scenic winery wedding venue. The natural beauty of upstate New York offers a breathtaking backdrop for your magical milestone. The event spaces here overlook the stunning Black River Valley, giving your guests even more reason to remember this day for years to come.
Coordinator Trish Walseman leads the events team at Tug Hill Vineyards. She is passionate about helping couples make their dream vision for the day a reality. Owners Jonathan and Taren Beller took over the vineyard in January 2021, following the original owners' retirements. They believe in the power of community and hope that the winery is seen as somewhere the local people can get together and celebrate.
Tug Hill Vineyards invites couples to the Main Banquet Hall, a wooden structure with a cathedral ceiling. This setting has a maximum capacity of 180 guests. Here, cozy fireplaces and a balcony overlooking the valley offer somewhere you can mingle with your loved ones. There is also a large enclosed porch and several stone patios for further socializing. The adjacent gardens can be included as part of your event space, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the beauty of the landscape. Hosting your wedding on the lawn allows you to invite even more guests. Catering can be provided by the on-site team, who offers a range of menus for you to choose from. You can also choose to have your cuisine provided by an outside business. The team at the vineyard is happy to share their wines, as well as offering customized beverage packages. Some of the event rental items included in your package are white folding chairs, a wooden arbor and bar staff.

Tug Hill Vineyards completely went above and beyond for my wedding. Both Sue (owner) and Ashley (event coordinator) were so kind, professional, and understanding throughout the ent...
ire process from start to finish. We had to re-book our venue four months before our day and we knew we would have difficulty finding a new venue for a Saturday wedding during prime season especially while we were out-of-state (military). Thankfully, Tug Hill Vineyards had an opening and oh my can I say they were a huge improvement from our last venue (as well as more cost effective for you money savvy couples!). They were very transparent about their prices and about what they could and could not do for us. Never had an issue contacting them via email or phone; always quick responses (1-2 days). We had to serve wine specifically from their wine menu, but our guests loved the wines we chose. They have an excellent selection and will definitely have a wine that will fit your menu and taste! There is a hotel just down the road from the venue (about a 7-minute drive) in case you have guests that need to stay the night. Tug Hill does have a preferred vendor list, but we had no issues getting a quality caterer or rental company from that list. We chose to host our ceremony in a tent overlooking the vineyard and the Black River Valley rather than hosting it inside. Tug Hill does not provide a tent (or the tables/chairs/linens/tableware for outside) so keep that in mind if you want an outdoor wedding or have a large guest list as inside has a guest limit. Tug Hill Vineyards allowed us to have our rental company put up the tent Friday afternoon and remove it Sunday morning. We had a 40ft x 80ft tent and it easily fit everything we needed (we had about 110 guests) and still had the perfect amount of space to use the arch overlooking the vineyard for our ceremony. Sue even provided the chairs for the ceremony as well as lemonade free of charge for our reception which was so generous of her and such a blessing. My guests kept complimenting on how gorgeous the venue was no matter where you looked, they take such great care of their grounds. The venue is gorgeous both inside and outside; you will not regret booking Tug Hill Vineyards for your wedding!
Side note: Tug Hill also has a dog that patrols the vineyards which was a huge hit with my guests, especially the children. He is very friendly and will not interrupt your event in any way; he just stayed in the vineyard and watched from afar.
I got married at Tug Hill Vineyards in September 2018, and I cannot imagine having my wedding anywhere else. Both the ceremony and the reception were held at this venue, with the c...
eremony outside and the reception inside. Sue and the rest of the THV staff worked with our caterer and the rest of our vendors to make sure everything was absolutely perfect. They supplied the arbor for the ceremony, as well as most of the chairs, and they made sure that they were all set up neatly. The spectacular view from the lawn area was the perfect backdrop for our ceremony. While we were getting our pictures taken among the vines and beautiful landscaping, we held a cocktail hour in the patio area for our guests. THV set up an outdoor bar in their pergola, and at our request, they served beer and wine. We were able to order the kegs through them, and they serve the wine that they make. They have a large variety of wine from dry to sweet, and it is all delicious! We held a reception for 155 guests inside of the venue, and while that is close to the maximum number of people that the venue can hold, I did not feel that it was over crowded. THV worked with me to come up with a floor plan to accommodate our number of guests. The reception hall is rustic and gorgeous, and we did not need to do much decorating. THV provided the linens for the tables, and they will also provide centerpieces made with flowers from the estate if you would like them to. I really cannot think of one complaint from the entire day, as everything went perfectly. It was nice to not have to stress about anything, because I knew that they had everything taken care of. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone.
Tug Hill is a beautiful venue with great staff!! They are so flexible, available, and easy to work with! Not to mention the great wine available for any event! Highly recommend!
Beautiful backdrop for the wedding, staff was very accessible and helpful. We couldn't have picked a better place!!!
We used Tug Hill Vineyards for both our ceremony and reception. We had a relatively small wedding; about 80 people. We held the ceremony outside on their large lawn overlooking the...
rural Black River valley and Adirondack foothills. It is absolutely gorgeous! The landscaping and vineyard is kept in fabulous shape- you really have no need to decorate.
We held our reception within their restaurant in the upstairs of the wine cellar. The construction is gorgeous- hardwood floors, rustic beams, everything is so pretty you can just let it stand out on it's own. For larger wedding parties you may want to rent a tent though. You would be hard pressed to fit more than 100 in the inside and balcony, then another 30-40ish on the porch. Personally I feel that if you're having such a large wedding it would be best to rent a tent rather than seperate your guests. We opted to at least keep everyone on the same floor- inside and on the porch.
Overall the service here is great. Sue provides fresh cut flowers for the table centerpieces and will even try to match the colors you'd like. Keep in mind their from her landscaping and wildflowers, so color options are limited. Regardless she did a BEAUTIFUL job for us.
The price is a little expensive, and it seems to be going up every year. I think the experience here was great though, and the location couldn't have been prettier. They provided bartenders; and were very flexible with our bar options. Teresa was very helpful with wedding planning. She helped with the floor plan, set up, even went so far as to get our other vender information in case of emergency.
I'm only giving 4 out of 5 stars due to the hourly rate being pricey, but you will likely find it to be a good value for the location. Everything else was fantastic. Overall, excellent experience and looking back we definitely made the right choice.
