os we got back were disappointing. After seeing the raw photos, we realized it was less of an editing issue and more of a quality issue. There were not many photos at all, most were blurry/dark and unflattering, and it felt like our photographers did not check the photos while they were taking them. Large parts of our wedding were missing and parts that we discussed prior were not included. It’s unfortunate that Jay and Sandi put their name behind this photographer as we thought we were getting the Twisted Oak experience but we should have done our due diligence. Unless you’re working directly with Jay and Sandi, I can’t in good faith recommend their company. It’ devastating that we ended up with just a few decent photos of the day, and since we got the album we maybe have looked at it once or twice, and didn’t feel comfortable distributing it to any of our family and friends.

I was thrilled to find that Sandi and Jay were available to shoot our wedding. What I didn’t know was how kind and funny and personable they would be! My husband and I are pretty camera-shy and don’t like to be the center of attention. He, in particular, was dreading having his photo taken. We’re wildlife photographers, and much more comfortable on the other side of the lens! Within minutes of meeting Jay and Sandi, my husband was talking and joking with them like old friends, and the tension was gone from his face. We couldn’t have asked for a better connection with these two. Sandi and Jay not only made the photography experience easy, but they made it fun! Rather than directing specific poses, they gave us some pointers and had us “do our thing” - and move in ways that were natural to us, which was also a relief. Our comfort level and rapport with them is surely reflected in our photos. Now, the photos… they are simply breathtaking. Jay and Sandi use light and shadow to create dreamy, evocative images, and the variety of interesting and artistic compositions really make their work stand out. A wide variety of photos ranging from close-up detail images to spectacular wide-angle shots provide a sense of the scope of the event. My friends and family members have been stunned by the photos, and have remarked on their “quiet beauty,” some have described them as “dreamy” and “magical.” My immediate family members are all trained in art, and my brother stated that “your photographer is a serious artist, those photos are insane!” And my father wrote, “They are an incredible group of photos… Jay is a master photographer!” I can’t stop looking at our photos and reliving all the emotions of the day, and I feel so grateful to Sandi and Jay for capturing the magic and beauty of our wedding. Having seen their work, I knew they would do a good job, but I had no idea how far they would exceed my expectations, and how much our fun experience with them would add to an already joy-filled day. I have nothing but gratitude for - and awe of - their work. (Jay and Sandi, we can’t thank you guys enough!)

. A huge thanks to him, Sandi, and Luke! Being a photographer myself I know how difficult it can be sometimes to capture the right moment; Jay and Sandi make it look easy. When I was tasked with this huge job I knew that we needed not only a seasoned photographer, but an artistic and creative one who could move quickly, capture memories, and show us something in our day that we might not have seen ourselves. Weddings are busy, hectic, and fast, but Jay and his team (slash family) delivered well beyond what we could have expected. Words do not do his work justice, and while his skill level with a camera is unmatched, his most important feature (including his team's) is the personality brought to the event. I felt as though I had a brother and sister working together to make sure my wife and I saw the wedding and remembered the wedding in the best way possible. Upon meeting at our engagement shoot, he didn’t know either of us aside from the phone conversations we had had, which were almost entirely logistical. Yet after talking with him for 2 minutes on site, we were incredibly comfortable being ourselves. I felt as though he captured things about us that he saw but was never told; he is just that attuned. After seeing the engagement shots I knew we were in for a trip with the wedding shots! The way he plays with light and shadow to tell a story untold is, for lack of a better word, beautiful. We have yet to receive the full album and digital copies, but I don’t need to see them to write this review or to confidently say they are all amazing. If a picture is worth 1,000 words, his are priceless. Because of Jay and his amazing team, my wife and I, and both our families and guests, will never forget the powerful moments. Hats off to Jay and Sandi and Twisted Oaks!

my search for a photographer, I knew I didn't want the light and airy, angelic wedding photos that I had seen. I knew I wanted my wedding to be captured with some contrast in a more candid, docu-style. I was recommended to Twisted Oaks and I fell in love with their work. After a year and a half of planning + a pandemic, they never once missed a beat. Eric, my photographer, was/is AMAZING. He was in contact with my the entire time, checking in to not only see if there was anything I needed, but also to get me excited for the big day. Surely, their entire team was overwhelmed with postponements and cancellations, but you'd never know it working with them. The day of our wedding, it was important to me that I didn't have to do much work. I was fortunate enough to have Eric and Kristen direct me and put me at ease. They are chill, casual, funny and worked their asses off the whole day. I've heard you know you have a good photographer when you don't know they're there. I agree and disagree with this. It's true that I was able to enjoy the night without feeling like I had a camera in my face. However, there were times throughout the night where I may have been out of range, having a moment with friends/family, and all of a sudden, I'd look over, and either Eric or Kristen were there to capture it. And THAT to me is what makes a great photographer. I've received some sneak peaks of our pictures, and my family, friends and I went NUTS. They are exactly what I was hoping for and I CAN'T WAIT to see the rest! I had such an amazing experience working with Eric, Kristen, and the Twisted Oaks team. It's hard to believe it's all over [crying] , but they will always have a place in my heart!!
