Two Chicks in the Mix

Two Chicks in the Mix is a must-have. Their cakes are delicious - the perfect blend of flavors your guests will recognize but with a fun twist. We got the lemon olive oil - our favorite - and it was a hit! Their petite cakes were a bright spot for us during 2-person COVID birthdays, holidays, and just-need-a-pick-me-up days, so when it came time for us to pick a wedding cake, there was no question. Thoughtful, detail-oriented, and responsive, they're great to work with!

Loved working with these lovely ladies! Because of the pandemic things were not like you have seen in the movies, like having cake tasting at the bakery but they made up for it with having different cake options with beautiful packaging and presentation. The cake was flavorful and moist and the cookies, and tarts were so good, they didn't even make it for us to take it home.

Cannot begin to express how much joy Malaka's cake brought to our small wedding. It was one of the highlights of an incredible evening. We ordered a funfetti cake with a sprinkle filled core. Cutting into that cake and having the sprinkles pour out was so much fun. I'm not a huge dessert of cake person but this cake was a standout exception. The proportion of frosting to cake was perfect. Cannot recommend Two Chicks in the Mix enough!

We worked with Malaka last year (2019) for our Bay Area wedding and I definitely recommend Two Chicks in the Mix. I believe Malaka was running the entire Bay Area operation (everything from sales to baking/decorating and delivery!) at the time, so huge kudos to her for that alone. I am a huge desserts person so I think I took the cake tasting/vendor search process more seriously than most couples we know. We met/had tastings with five vendors (most couples we know only had 1-2 tastings) before we moved forward so our selection process was fairly thorough. Before we met with Malaka, we had not had a vendor that satisfied both our budget and our tastebuds. This was one of our last vendors left to book so our budget was getting tight and I thought I would need to adjust my order (i.e. substituting cupcakes/sheet cakes for a tiered cake) but Malaka made all my wedding cake wishes come true for a reasonable price! Based on all the quotes I had received from other vendors, I approached Malaka with a request for a two-tier cake with two flavors since I thought that was the most our budget would allow. I ended up selecting four flavors for our tasting since nearly every flavor appealed to me and I had a hard time narrowing down my choices. They were all amazing which I also did not expect since a lot of other tastings we did had hits and misses between flavors. At this point, I knew I had to at least ask about adding a tier and flavor just to see what the extra cost would be. To my surprise, the added cost with an additional tier and flavor was marginal since we kept the serving size about the same and she just tweaked the size of each layer to redistribute the servings between the tiers. We also needed delivery to Half Moon Bay and the delivery fee was also one of the most reasonable quotes we got given the distance! After we confirmed the final flavors, Malaka was also very accommodating with our design notes and met every request while staying in our budget. I added a few details along the way and she welcomed every one of my requests. We even got to use a beautiful cake stand without being charged an extra rental fee as long as we returned it after the event. We knew exactly what we were paying for and did not have to worry about any hidden or last minute fees. Leading up to the day of the event, I did not need to follow up with or check in with Malaka and everything was set up beautifully and timely.
