I never expected my wedding day to be the best day of my life. I know that sounds weird, but I just didn’t buy it. I have had a lot of wonderful moments in my life and I was way mo...re excited for my upcoming marriage to the best human in the planet than I was for this one very expensive, very stressful (the planning, I mean) day. Especially because I live in San Francisco and wouldn’t be visiting the area more than once before my wedding day. I was excited, but I truly had no idea what I was getting myself into. On every single front, May 20, 2018 was the best day of my life. And honestly, I don’t know how anything else will ever compare. All of my favorite people in the world were gathered in a fairytale-like setting, celebrating my now-husband and my choice to be forever legal life buds. I felt like unicorns could have walked through the venue at any point and it wouldn’t have even been weird. That’s how magical it was. But a TON of work went into it. And so much of that happened on Tyler Arboretum and JAM’s side of things. For me and my groom, we picked Tyler Arboretum for the obvious reasons: We loved the beautiful barn, the fact that we wouldn’t be paying extra for the amazing tents, the trees and flowers, and the MULTIPLE options for a rain plan. We didn’t realize how much of a game-changer having a day-of coordinator (who also was our point of contact for the six months leading up to the wedding) would be. Or that the cost of the tents, linens, plates and utensils was included. And the servers. And the bartenders. Those little things added way up and saved us a ton of money, hassle and brain space. As for our jobs, my husband and I invited all of our favorite people from every stage of our lives, we picked our favorite songs, designed a ceremony that rang true to us, picked a menu and got our wedding parties in order. My amazing mother got incredibly crafty and organized the beautiful decorations and completely handled liaising with Buttercup, the florist. Even after the eternity we spent on those details, there was a lot we never even considered — and those things ended up dictating the flow and ambiance of the entire day. Even in my wildest dreams, I never could have imagine how perfect Tyler Arboretum and JAM could make my wedding day. Emily was our coordinator and I am pretty sure she is an angel masquerading around as a human. She did an incredible job explaining to us all the things we could do at our venue and entertained ideas of things she hadn’t seen before. She helped us figure out exactly how much alcohol to buy and made sure we felt excited as we made each decision. Then there was the actual wedding day. She is why our day went how it did (she and my maid of honor who should have been wearing a superwoman costume as far as I am concerned). From the moment we arrived, Emily greeted us, pointed us to the things we should see, and got us where we needed to go. From that moment on, my brain just turned off planning mode and entered live-in-the-moment mode. At every cue, Emily was there, nudging the right players into place. Listen here, brides. THIS IS A GAME CHANGER. I didn’t think about anything on my wedding day. I just smiled and absorbed every moment. Still, no one missed any of the things they need to do. We picked every little thing we wanted to do, say or see and Emily and her team made sure we got the day of our dreams — down to every tiny detail. She made sure our families knew where they should go at each part of the evening, she made sure my husband and I ate, she found us and moved us into the next stages of the night: dances, cake cutting, etc. I felt like I was truly attending my own party vs throwing it. This place is the whole package. Get married here and the amazing staff will make sure nothing falls through on your day. I would do it over again 100 times. Thank you for the most beautiful day of our lives! If only we could relive it.
