Based in New York City, Unbox the Dress is a creative studio that transforms wedding heirlooms into memorable gifts. It is a creative way to pay homage to a cherished piece of family history. Taking cues from the dress’s original design as well as focusing on your ideas, the seamstresses craft something to hold onto for years to come.
Unbox the Dress was established in 2016 by Grace Rojek and offers multiple services to preserve, transform, and store wedding dresses. The team, known as Graceful Sewers, each has a versatile skill set and can transform gowns into newfound heirlooms to treasure.
The process at Unbox the Dress is simple and straightforward. First, you take the antique garment out of storage, browse the options, and take a quiz to determine the way you want to transform the gown. Then, you send the piece to the studio and a seamstress contacts you to discuss your order. The professional team then creates new pieces from the wedding dress for you to enjoy and cherish. The team also offers a service called Save the Dress where they can clean and preserve your gown with museum quality in a way that is also eco-friendly. The Graceful Sewers can create robes, purses, shorts, and much more, turning your beloved item into something new and fresh.
